      but i don't wanna go ):<

Ugh, camping, something that Skylar absolutely hated with a passion. It wasn’t his idea to do this. Never! He’ll tolerate the hell of a car ride to Wild Horse Reserve, he’ll tolerate the whole weeklong camping trip, he’ll tolerate everything having to do with this, but he will not like it. In fact, Skylar was not a fan of the outdoors. Bugs, People who might murder you in your tent, so many dangers awaiting in the forest for them. He’d rather stay inside and play on his computer or curl up with a book. Now that is something he thoroughly enjoyed doing, yes yes. Why did he have to be dragged into this?

However, Skylar didn’t want to be that stick in the mud who will ruin everyone’s fun by complaining about how he didn’t want to go, he kept his complaints to himself. Bottling them up inside and rolling with it. Alpine was coming with him; she would make it more bearable. The car ride to the reserve was going to be absolute hell though, and he was absolutely not looking forward to climbing into Grandma Mimi’s van and having to be squished in with the others. Can’t they just take separate cars to avoid buddy buckling and crushing everyone together in the seats?

His mother convinced him to go, though, telling him he would actually enjoy it and have fun. That there’s so much to do. Yeah, Skylar will just take a nap under a tree with his ferret. He’s not going to strip off his overalls and jump into a lake. He’ll sit on the ground and play with Alpine. So yeah, here’s Skylar who was currently packing his things for the camping trip, including him putting a harness and leash on Alpine. He picked up his bag with one hand, ferret in the other, and of course he had to deal with his mom telling him goodbye, to have fun, and that she loved him.

You know, just the usual things. Camping was never going to be Skylar’s thing, though. Even after this. Never has been, never will be.

    “Is your phone charged?”

His mom asked. “Yes, mom, it is.” Skylar bluntly responded. Plus, he had one of those power bank chargers in his bag, along with the cord, if he ever needed to charge his phone on the go. Earbuds too because there was no way he was going to listen to whatever was on the car radio. Skylar heaved his book bag over his shoulder, his mother kissing him once more, and again telling him goodbye.

Skylar honestly doubted there would be any service out at Wild Horse Reserve, but it’s not like he’ll need to call his mother for anything. He’s going to be just fine with the others. And there was Grandma Mimi to look after them. Yes, they will all feel safe with Mimi. Goodbyes were done now, Skylar could head out the door now. Time to leave home and go into the forest.

The beautiful forest. The wide, neverending, beautiful forest.

Ferret in hand, Skylar closed the door behind him. He’ll be back home in a week. Week’s time. Of course, little did he know that he wouldn’t see his mother alive again but he didn’t know that at this very moment.

    —------------------------ —------------------------

The ride was hell. Really, it was! Grandma Mimi is a crazy driver! Slow down there, grandma! Skylar rolled his head, feeling dizzy and a little car sick from the reckless, crazy driving. God, he couldn’t wait to stretch out his legs. Skylar’s head dropped back and he pursed his lips and squeezed his eyes shut. He felt cramped in his seat, trying to wriggle around for some room.

How long was it until they reached Wild Horse Reserve? The next thing Skylar knew was that he was jolted awake when the van came to a halt. Good, good. They’re here. The van door slid open, Skylar eagerly undoing the seat belt and crawling out of the van. The breeze felt good against his forehead.

Skylar stretched out his legs, heaving a hard breath as he set Alpine down on the ground, fingers wrapped around the leash. Pitching tents up who? Nah, let Skylar have his second nap of the day because apparently he dozed off in the van. They could pitch tents up later! Before it got dark of course. Who would pitch tents up as soon as they got here? Not Skylar! He wanted to sit under a tree. Good napping spot. Maybe he’ll dip his toes in the lake, just to cool off.

Xander Noel
"are we there yet? are we there yet? how long do we have to go? are we there yet?" were just a few of the phrases that bounced out of xander's mouth the entirety of the drive there. it wasn't neccesarily that long of a drive either, to someone less hyper energetic; but xander could barely sit still in his seat. he was constantly swiveling his head to look at those beside him, occasionally bumping someone just to shoot them an-'are-you-excited?' type of grin. he was terribly uncomfortable the vast majority of the drive, but the excitement rising inside of him made him forget about it. the swerving of grandma mimi didn't help either, but - xander would never say anything, god forbid he risked pissing her off or hurting her feelings! well...did grandma mimi even have feelings? no, probably not.

as soon as they were pulling in, xander nearly fell over the person infront of him to get out of the car and look around. mouth slightly ajar, a grin formed on his face. nature. it was.... "beautiful!" he breathed out, turning to give a shiny-eyed hazel gaze to cypress. "isn't this amazing? could you dream of anything better? of course not!" he continued running his mouth, as his german shepherd trigger hopped out of the car behind him and giving a quick shake and a stretch of his legs. "there's so many things to do, i don't know where to start!" he said aloud, his eyes flickering from person to person. "is there a creek here? i bet we could find some crawfish. we should go find a creek! no - maybe we should put up the tents. honestly? i'm kinda hungry."

Bean
Bean was the snack god. She would be designated snack provider for the trip to the campsite and while Otto had the s'mores stuff, Bean had Doritos. And Twizzlers. And Swedish Fish. And Chex Mix. And about a thousand other things. She went down the list she had of everyone's favorite snacks to make sure she had everything and then dumped all of it in bags and coolers. She then dragged it all to the door and ran up to grab her pack with her clothes and essentials. And she stowed her favorite knife on her belt. having made sure to sharpen it the day before so they could make awesome marshmallow roasting sticks. Bean had called shotgun in the group chat as soon as she could and was looking forward to not being squished like the rest of them. That is if no little shits tried to take her seat. She jumped to action though when she heard the honking of a horn outside, putting on her pack and her boots and dragging the overfull coolers and bags outside and getting the others to help her situate them in the van.

"I made sopapillas by the way!" She shouted, passing around the sugary treat. She then opened the passenger door only to find...Gao.

Tossing the offending little shit into the backseat, she strapped in and got ready for the car ride. Grandma Mimi's driving was the best, she taught Bean how to drive a few years back and since then Bean has only been pulled over five times, so she'd say it's pretty good driving. Putting her boots up on the dash, Bean settled in for a nap.

...

Lurching to a sudden stop let Bean know they were all at the campsite, waking her from her cozy little curled up position. She got out and stretched, making an obnoxiously loud screech that made a few birds flutter away.

"Who's ready to swim?" she asked, looking at her friends with a little maniacal glint in her eye.

"Grym! Get up! It's time to get ready!" Is the first thing that they heard, rolling off of the bed. When they hit the floor, Daffodil barked. Grym snorted, "Alright! I'm up!" They shouted back, standing. They let Wendigo and Daffodil out of their cages, and fed them. Then they headed into the bathroom to take a shower, and clean up. The shower felt amazing to wake up in. Ice cold, though. Their younger siblings had taken all of the hot water. Again. They looked in the mirror, and sighed, "I look so raggedy" They muttered, ruffling their hair. They brushed their hair slightly, and didn't bother with anything else.

Grym sighed, walking out of their room, "Today better work out" They muttered, grabbing the toast they'd prepared earlier. Walking back into their room, they got dressed into ripped jeans, a white T-shirt, an over-sized plaid long-sleeve, and their blue converse. Of course they didn't forget the binder. Soon, they were grabbing bags and running downstairs "Crap! I'm gonna be late!" He shouted, as Wendigo flew after Grym, and Daffodil chirped happily while running after them and outside. They practically fell into the van, as they rushed off to get the next person, "Jesus!" They muttered, finally taking a seat. It was already getting crowded in there. The space was filled, and being 6'5 it wasn't exactly the best. Wendigo was perched on Grym's shoulder (Somehow not phased by the insane driver) And Daffodil in Grym's clutches. Daffodil twisted and licked Grym, getting bored. Grym sighed, shaking their head.

Once they got there, Wendigo immediately took off to stretch his wings. Daffodil climbed up to Grym's shoulders, as they begun exploring a little. This would be Grym's fifth time camping. It was relaxing to them, and this time it would hopefully be fun. They took a deep breath, and smiled down at Daffodil, "Well, here we are!" They said, and Daffodil barked back. Grym looked around. The crystal lake was beautiful. The breeze was refreshing from city life. At least they'd get a little break before college is the next big question. They went to immediately help set up camp, not quite knowing what to do yet. Daffodil scurried around, being an idiot and exploring the camp (Never letting Grym out of her sight)

It looked like this would be a great camping trip.
