Name: Axel Chilies
Age: presumably At least 33yrs.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual
Hair: Messy mid-length Dark brown
Eye: Light Blue
Notable features: None, in fact the lack of any forms of blemishes is pretty notable with him.

Personality: Axel is an odd man even to himself, he doesn’t remember anything from before Haiti yet he constantly finds himself overwhelmed by feelings of familiarity and manifests slightly worrying traits. He does not seem to shy away from any violence nor flinch when danger presents itself. He finds himself calmed when conflict occurs around him as if his brain is clicking into gear. However the part that scars him personally is his unexplainable reflexes, almost like how a cat seems to land on its feet always he seems to react as if without thought to simple things like his wife tossing him a roll of toilet paper or a towel and he snatches it effortlessly out of the air, or when someone would be about to bump into him and he positions himself in a way that they miss or just bounce harmlessly off of him. He worries that these simple traits may hint at a darker past that he is not aware of.

History: Eleven years ago a terrible disaster befell Haiti, an earthquake shook the ocean and triggered a devastating Tsunami which slammed into the coast, yet among the unfathomable tons of water was a six foot dark metal cube, a cube which was cracked open as the wave slammed it into the foundations of countless buildings. In the wreckage of this disaster Axel rose from inside of this cube, Naked, terrified, and having no idea who he was let alone where.

Rescuers in the area assumed by his appearance, and his strange unidentifiable accent that he was an American tourist and after spending six months in a mental institution he came to accept the identity they had given him of Ethan Broderick, a tourist who looked a lot like him and went missing in the tsunami. Now deep down Axel knew he was not this Ethan guy…but he also knew that he would not be getting out of that facility anytime soon if he didn’t play along. So he was released to his apparent sister who luckily hadn’t seen Ethan for at least nine years before the tsunami and didn’t immediately recognize him as a different man.

Axel only stuck around for a few days, most of which was spent looking into the world he found himself thrust into. It wasn’t until he started to surf the web…through much trial and error…that he found a community of people asking about the Cube in New York after pictures of the thing had surfaced on the web. So he went to find these folks where he met a woman named Alison Mendez. Most of this group were a bunch of dense conspiracy theorists who seemed to think the cube came from aliens. Yet Alison kept looking at him with a curious gaze that he would eventually know was a knowing one. After several months of friendship and several more of them dating he finally revealed to her why he had no stories about his childhood, or even anything prior to ten short years ago. He was what was in that strange cube, something that rose many questions when a scientists dated the cubes origin to nearly five thousand years ago.

Habits: Has a habit of making quick sudden movements, and has taken up smoking in the past few years.
Likes: Everyday lives, Clear weather, The ocean
Dislikes: Storms, Authoritarian people and governments, Violence.
Fears: He is very terrified of people finding out who he was before he himself does…and especially afraid that he might well deserve to stay in the cube he was freed from.

Primary power:
Invulnerability- Unbeknownst to himself Axel’s body down to the smallest building blocks of it seem to be completely and utterly impervious to any changes. As such his cells do not die or reproduce, they cannot be damaged or their processes interrupted. Any amount of energy applied to him is seemingly half absorbed with the absorbed portion then being unleashed to cancel out the remaining energy being applied to him. This extends to chemical changes in his body as well, meaning his breathing is not actually doing anything other than moving his chest. So far the only indication he has of this ability would be the finger shaped dents in his kitchen knife from when he looked up whilst chopping tomatoes only to chop his fingers…to no ill effect against himself.
Secondary abilities:
Super strength- when your muscles cells cannot tear the amount of weight you can hold is rather great. Sadly this does not translate to striking power or even lift power, rather no amount of weight can make him fold or crumple.
Infatiguable- one would think it would be noticeable but to be fair Axel works as a security guard and rarely if ever exerts himself. Nonetheless he is incapable of being fatigued.
Immunity- Poisons, Heat, Cold, Electricity, Chemicals, Acid. Nearly nothing that does damage over time will effect Axel. Those that do effect him like Electricity can cause him pain but are incapable of doing any damage that lasts.
Self sustaining- Axel requires no food, water, sunlight, or even oxygen as evidenced by his awakening from inside of the cube. He was presumably in there for a good deal longer than most could survive without all those things.
Indefinite Longevity- In the eleven years he has been outside of the cube Axel has not had his hair grow even a single inch, his nails don’t grow, and he shows no signs of age even as his wife begins to slow down.

Weakness to Overcome: He remains Unaware of his actual ability and thus will retreat against foes he could easily defeat such as typical armed men.

Hard Weakness: Axel lacks any form of mobility based abilities, as such a person in a car can quickly escape from him. He also lacks any form of detective skills or tracking skills beyond what is available to a normal human making him limited severely in his ability to actually pin down his targets. However his most notable weakness is a lack of mental defenses, psychological warfare is still effective to him and Telepaths are capable of running through his mind basically unobstructed.

    The Vampire

    Personality
    PERSONALITY

He is, in a word, The Worst™. Ruthless, willful, cold, ambitious, and cunning, Raphael knows no loyalty but to himself. While he tries to maintain and exude a sense of calm and control over his surroundings, when things do not go his way, his usual response is to become childishly flippant. His behavior at times can become very mercurial, and he can become incredibly petty over seemingly trivial slights. Above all, he despises the restraints put upon him due to the nature of his existence, and is ravenously jealous of those who get to live and exist in the outside world. He will do absolutely anything to taste the free air, and visit upon his captors the same torment he must endure ten-thousand times over.

    Habits:
Hissing at things that startle him, piss him off, or things he just doesn’t like, sitting in disastrously uncomfortable positions (i.e. perching), lying compulsively, calling people by cutesy or offensive nicknames (to be annoying, and because he’s terrible with names)

    Likes:
    Drama, chaos, puns, flirting, himself

    Dislikes:
Boredom, stagnation, garlic (not harmful, he’s just not a fan), introspection, himself

    Fears:
The sun, the people hunting him, living the rest of his life on the run, dogs

    HISTORY

Raphael’s life, up to fairly recently, was extraordinarily normal, if a bit ostentatious. He lived for most of his life with his parents in their home in a large metropolis. The Shaw family haunted a fashionable greystone manor in a luxe neighborhood nestled amidst the bustle of the city proper. There they played host to many a soirée, entertaining artists, actors, politicians… A fledgling Raph ever lurking in the background, a sullen boy, become a sullen teenager.

Raph’s parents were vampires. Or, at the very least, their genetic makeup predisposed them to developing traits and abilities that any layperson would readily identify as such. Yes, Raph’s parents were vampires… But they were not monsters. They had friends. They laughed. They loved. They danced through the halls of that house, and filled it with light, and love, and music. Until one of their closest friends betrayed their secret to the wrong people. And Raphael’s world burned.

By some stroke of luck, or providence, Raph was spared his parents’ fate, and has been in hiding ever since.

    POWERS

    Primary Power:
Raph, for all intents and purposes, is a true vampire, possessing most of the strengths and weaknesses that one might expect of a creature such as he. This includes supernaturally enhanced strength, speed, durability, agility, stamina, and senses. In addition, his nails and fangs may be elongated and used as weapons or in some instances, tools.

    Secondary Abilities:
As a vampire, Raphael is functionally immortal, and his healing factor far outpaces the typical mortal. He can survive otherwise fatal wounds (with some notable exceptions) and recover to full fighting form in short order—faster still, if he’s sated with blood.

All of his abilities are empowered after drinking blood—fresh human blood has the largest effect, but in a pinch, he can make do with stale blood, or even the blood of animals. Though he finds it repulsive.

Other, more miscellaneous vampiric abilities include flight, and scattering, the ability to separate and disperse into mist, or a swarm of diminutive, winged, bat-like creatures, retaining control over each and reforming from any one of them.

When sufficiently gorged on blood, Raphael may enter an elevated state, whereby his physiology morphs considerably, becoming more monstrous, and more powerful.

    WEAKNESSES

    Weakness to Overcome:
In much the same way that drinking blood enhances his abilities, going long periods of time without drinking blood have an adverse effect on both his mentality and his powers. With time, Raph may develop out of this dependence on blood to survive, or he may lean into it, for the power that blood contains is a truly potent temptation.

    Hard Weakness:
Raph's greatest weakness is typical of his kind in folklore, the sun. While it will not kill him instantly, exposure to direct sunlight will irritate and burn his skin almost immediately. Prolonged exposure would almost certainly be deadly.

Other tried and true mechanisms of vampire slaying apply, including a stake through the heart or decapitation, either of which would do Raph in (along with most other people).

Name: Merrick Bartleby
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Hair: Disheveled, short, black.
Eye: Blue
Notable features: Nothing exceptional.

Personality: Fundamentally, Merrick is a fairly good entrepreneur with no ambition. He is fairly selfish, but good-natured otherwise, and just incredibly introverted. He is very logical, and analytical too, but he hates doing anything even remotely related to analysis or critical thinking. He likes activities that don't require much thought, like certain video games, videos, movies, shows, and other sorts of things. That said, deep down, he knows that he wants something more meaningful to live his life for than just hedonism, he just doesn't want to put the effort in to figure out what that meaning could be.

History: Fairly intelligent dude. He grew up in a mundane family with absolutely no relation to special powers, nor any idea that they even existed in the first place. His father and mother were both deeply in love with one another and with their 10 children, and they were both fairly successful business owners. Merrick studied with a focus on economics to take after his father, and started a business on a loan from his father without publicizing his name. He got a fairly basic secondary education, then went straight into the business world and immediately made lots of progress. He sold an enormous amount of some cheap junk invention related to kitchen chores, the likes of which turned out to be more useful than he had initially considered, and then retired at the humble age of 22.

He then returned the loan to his father with interest, rented an incredibly cheap apartment in some rural town, got a fairly expensive computer setup, a great satellite internet connection, good air conditioning, a near-endless supply of instant meals, and he started living his retired life. However, one day, while trying to open a can of coke with his fingernail, he thought, "my fingernails wouldn't break as often they were just a bit harder." Then his fingernail literally became steel. After testing the ability on a few other fingernails, and figuring out how to revert them to the normal fingernail material that he grew used to over the past 24 years, he groaned in annoyance, knowing that his peaceful early retirement would be interrupted far too early for his liking. He subsequently decided to begin dejectedly looking around the internet for an explanation of what to do about his newfound 'ability...

Habits: Merrick is just...incredibly lazy. He doesn't really want to do anything strenuous at all. If he could get away with playing video games all day and just occasionally talk with other people online, he'd be fine with living his whole life like that. He has no ambition, and no real goals.

Likes:
- Instant Meals: Merrick likes meals that are as convenient as possible. He doesn't care at all about taste, and only minimally cares about nutrition. But he can just have a multivitamin, so he doesn't bother with nutrition much either.
- Video Games: Whether it be clicker games, idle games, roleplaying games, or multiplayer games, Merrick enjoys all sorts of digital interactive mediums. Back when he was working, he liked to recover from the stresses of work by wasting the time away on a computer. He doesn't care for those which require more effort though, like competitive games.
- Sleep: The activity that Merrick loves most in the world is sleep. It requires no effort at all, is virtually automatic, and it feels great, such that waking up is unpleasant by comparison. The only downside, to him, is that you can only do it so much in a day.

Dislikes:
- Annoying/Bothersome People: There are few things in life that Merrick dislikes more than people who have no consideration for others' time or wellbeing. The very first thing he looks for when meeting someone new is how courteous they are. Once he gets it in his head that someone else is uncourteous, he'll invariably start trying to minimize contact with them.
- Relationships: Although Merrick does enjoy close and meaningful friendships and family bonds, he doesn't like superficial or half-hearted relationships with people. He hates 'give and take' from the business world, and everyone who tries to meet him just to get something out of him. If he gets the sense that he's being used by someone else to accomplish something, or even if he just thinks they're trying to use him to do something, he'll be much less likely to help them ever again.
- Work: Although Merrick isn't too opposed to the idea of earning his worth in the world, he hates tedium and effort. He wants to do as much as possible with the minimum possible effort and thought. And part of doing that requires thinking, which he hates. So, overall, he just dislikes any kind of work in general, and will try to avoid it whenever reasonable/possible.

Fears:
- Perfectionism: Although it only manifests rarely in his daily life, Merrick is an extreme perfectionist. He has learned various coping skills throughout his life to manage his obsession with optimization and achieving perfection, but it still bothers him immensely. Failure and inadequacy are incredible looming threats that he contends with regularly. He is terrified of the thought of putting effort in to do something and not managing to succeed enormously in every conceivable aspect. Most of the time, he deals with this fear by trying to avoid doing the task at all, or intentionally putting in minimal effort so that he won't care about the outcome. But when his actions really matter - that's when his fear really starts to get to him. His desire for perfection is too deeply ingrained in his psyche for him to ever get over this fear, although he can minimize it to a certain extent based on circumstances and rationalizing.
- Stage Fright: Merrick is not especially socially awkward, but he is absolutely terrified of being the focus of other peoples' attention. Whenever peoples' expectations or attention come into play, Merrick very quickly becomes stressed out, and it makes it much harder for him to focus on anything in particular other than what his audience thinks of him. He hasn't gone in front of large audiences enough to develop coping mechanisms for this fear of his, but he could conceivably get over this fear with enough hard work.

Primary Power: Internal Transmutation
Foreword: Merrick is a first-generational power-user, and he is too out-of-the-loop to know virtually anything about other power users, outside of what he learned within the last year or so leading up to the present. As such, he has virtually no idea how to use his power, and knows virtually nothing about how it works outside of some rather infantile experiments. His minimal understanding of his power is reflected in this section, with additional notes on information that he is not yet privy to.

Core: His powers result from a core that was generated in his brain through a much less significant, but nonetheless important unique ability that he has. It is contained within the center of his brain, and is imperceptible without direct visual observation, since it blends in to his brain much like an illusion, preventing any but the most exceedingly precise special powers from detecting it. It is nearly invulnerable, and is the source of his thought energy. This core cannot be used by any creature other than himself while he's still alive, since it uses his soul as a "passcode" of sorts. He has the ability to passively create these cores, but he doesn't even know he has the power to do so, and it is an exceedingly irrelevant power to his capabilities in general, to the extent that it could conceivably be categorized as a sub-property of his internal transmutation. This 'core' power allows him to produce another core, if his current one is destroyed. The conditions for production are 20 years' worth of life energy, the likes of which is accumulated in his soul over time. As such, if his current one gets destroyed, he won't be able to make a new one until he's 40. Technically, his 'soul' is bound to the core, so if it gets implanted into a new creature, he will essentially 'become' that creature, from the standpoint of his consciousness. If the core is destroyed while it is not contained within a creature that he has 'gained control over', he'll move on to the afterlife or whatever else awaits those who die. In order for him to be revived, 20 years' worth of life energy is required to regenerate his core, since his body will be unresuscible unless his core is regenerated first. If he dies with some amount of life energy left over, that amount will be contributed towards further attempts to revive him, if any are made.

Descriptions:
- Internal: His ability seems to solely pertain to his "body" and anything contained therein. In order for him to be able to use his power, he must either be in contact with the substance he wants to use it on, or he has to be in contact with the part of the material he wants to interact with directly.
His 'Thought Energy' is extended throughout his body. He can extend this 'thought energy' out to an object that he is in contact with in order to attempt to 'incorporate' it into his body for the sake of using his power. He can only use his power on objects that are suffused with this 'thought energy'.
- Transmutation: He seems to only be able to change materials that he can target into other materials. Despite trying to hold his hand out and generate a lightning bolt, nothing happened, so he felt very embarrassed. Further, he seems to be able to cause materials to dissipate into nothing, and to then sprout out from his skin, if he so desires. He can also hold his breath for hours and hours if he wills for his breath to be refreshed within his lungs. However, he seems to be limited on how much 'mass' worth of stuff he can make at a time, and also seemed to be limited on how much he can 'recharge' expended batteries and other such things. It also takes an immense amount of studying for him to be able to correctly produce household items that seem about right, since he seems to have to know pretty much everything about their material composition, how people make them in factories, their internal structure, and so on and so forth. He doesn't seem to just clone things, but rather, he seems to just make whatever he can imagine. Notably, he seems to be able to destroy stuff with his ability in order to refresh his ability to make more stuff.
Details:
- Thought Energy: His 'Thought Energy' is the energy of information itself. It can either be interconverted into another form of energy, or it can be used to directly adjust the information content of a material phenomenon. Theoretically, it could therefore be interconverted into a lightning bolt, or it could be used to convey telepathic messages, or it could be used to telekinetically lift something. That said, a very specific energetic procedure is required to use it in any of those 'nontraditional' ways, and figuring out that procedure is exceedingly tedious guesswork. He could eventually figure them out, but it's not happening anytime soon, and his ability to utilize those procedures won't be even remotely comparable to those with specialized powers that can do comparatively similar things.
- Pseudomaterial: Fundamentally, his entire body is made of 'pseudomaterial'. This 'pseudomaterial' is not an actual material, in the sense that it is energy with material properties interposed onto it by his 'thought energy'. As such, he can very efficiently interconvert his own body into 'thought energy', or change the properties of a section of his body using 'thought energy', and he can use 'thought energy' to add some more material to his body somewhere.
- Targeting: In order to target part of his body with his power, he has to be able to sense it. His 'thought energy' can be used to directly access information about the pseudomaterial that his body is made up of, but he has not figured out how to do that yet.
- Conversion: In order to target something that is not made of 'pseudomaterial' which his body consists of, he must first make contact with it. Then, he must suffuse it with his 'thought energy' by projecting his thought energy into the object. Subsequently, he can interconvert some of the object into 'thought energy' and simultaneously generate 'pseudomaterial' in its place with exactly the same properties as the material that he interconverted. This process is energetically inefficient, and always costs more thought energy than it produces. However, if he then converts the pseudomaterial back into thought energy, he can absorb it back into his body, resulting in net energy gain. Otherwise, he simply 'increases' the size of his body by turning the object into part of his body. Thereafter, he can affect it like any other part of his body.
Note: Because he is not capable of making contact with a gas for a long enough period of time to target its particles, he cannot target gasses at all. He can convert part of his body into gas, but that part will then no longer be part of his body.
- Property Adjustment: He can instantly change any number of properties of the pseudomaterial that he is in contact with. This process is extremely energetically efficient, costing virtually nothing, no matter how many properties are changed. However, some changes add in energy(i.e. recharging a battery or separating salt and water), so he requires additional thought energy to cover these energetic changes, when applicable. Further, although he is theoretically capable of making materials with properties that should not exist(i.e. 'adamantium', 'thaumaterium', 'holy bullets' or other 'magic' items), most of the properties that these unusual materials have require enormous amounts of added energy, so his maximum energy capacity needs substantial improvement before he could even potentially produce them.
- Disconnection: If pseudomaterial is disconnected from immediate contact with the rest of his body, it will either retain its properties and become an actual material(no longer pseudomaterial), or it will turn into a combination of water vapor and air, resulting in a slight 'woosh' and disappearance. He has to intend for the material to disappear with a 'woosh', so generally it will just plop off and retain its properties as a normal material.
- Core: His 'core' can store an immense amount of 'thought energy', but he can't use it until he knows that it's there. His "body" is defined to be that crystal and all pseudomaterial that is in contact with it.
- Thought Energy in Creatures: Other creatures have their own thought energy(even trees, zombies, water bears, and comatose near-dead people), the likes of which will interfere with his ability to extend his own thought energy into their bodies, unless the person intentionally doesn't resist the obvious foreign influence.

Limitations:
- Conceptualization: In order to produce a material at all, Merrick has to understand absolutely everything about the object's material composition, and the properties of every material it is composed of. If he uses a vague understanding of the material to try and make it anyway, the pseudomaterial becomes unstable and dissipates into water vapor and air as it is produced, thereby wasting energy. He can only make objects if his conceptualization of the object is perfect, and he makes exactly the item he conceptualizes, if it is an item which could plausibly exist.
- Conversion Rate: At present, Merrick seems to be able to interconvert around 1 kg of material into his pseudomaterial every second. If he targets a living creature with thought energy, the rate is decreased by 100 times, even if the creature is willing, and 1000 times if the creature is unwilling.
- Energy Storage: At present, Merrick is capable of holding enough energy to produce 100 kg of wood, and he produces this exact amount of energy every day simply by eating his daily allotment of food and going about his life. Since 1kg of wood can be burnt to produce around 4.4 kilowatts per hour, he has about 440 kilowatt hours of energy, which he can hold onto at maximum capacity. If he wants to produce a material with a higher energy content per mass, he has to use more energy to produce it, and likewise with materials with a lower energy content per mass. He generates an equivalent amount each day passively just by thinking, as long as he consumes food normally, as he has done all his life. He can directly convert material into its energy worth of mass too. As such, his core is technically operating at around 18 kilowatt hours, which is approximately equal to a typical gasoline-powered electric home generator. Fun facts.
- Mass Production: At present, Merrick only seems to be able to spontaneously produce around 100 kg of material a day.
- Physiological Consistency: The changes that Merrick can make to his body will always change his physiology. As such, he can very easily make a change which will result in his own death if he isn't extremely careful, since he probably won't know how to change himself back if he made a conceptual mistake in the first place.
- Property Interchange: Merrick's ability to change the properties of pseudomaterial is only limited by his ability to conceptualize the change. If he conceptualizes the change incorrectly, nothing happens and the thought energy is wasted.

Secondary abilities:
Energy Control: It is possible for Merrick to control his 'thought energy' by merely willing for it to do things. This ability allows him to use his main power in the first place, but also allows for the possibility of improving his power to achieve different utilities, since it is possible to interconvert his 'thought energy' into other types of energy.
Mind Control Resistance: Although he is no less capable of being targeted and affected by mind-controlling effects than any normal creature in the world, he cannot be forced to use his powers against his will due to the nature of how they are activated.
Physiological Counter: Merrick can use his property adjustment to outright eliminate any need for food, air, drink, sleep, or essentially any other physiological need with incredible efficiency. He can even use it to completely reverse any structural damage to his body. But such incredibly complicated processes require some equally complicated conceptualization, and he is terrified of what would happen if he fails.
Sixth Sense: It is possible for Merrick to 'perceive' his 'thought energy'. He can technically do so already, but he just views it as an 'odd feeling' and doesn't think much about it.

Weakness to Overcome:
Body Size: His 'body' can only be so big. His 'thought energy' gets spread thinner and thinner the larger his body is, so he needs more 'thought energy' to maintain a larger body. Right now, he can only manage to extend his body around 10' away from his head before he loses control.
Conceptualization: He doesn't have a very good understanding of material science or physiology, and he especially doesn't know how his own power works. Maybe he should attend some classes? Or get that sixth sense going, if he can figure out how to do that.
Energy Capacity: He only has '100 kg worth' of 'thought energy' that he can store within his body itself at this moment. He can eventually figure out how to condense it down to store it more efficiently, or figure out how to use his core to store more of it.
Interconversion Rate: He can currently only convert 1 kg of material per second. But once he gets better control over his ability, he will be able to convert materials at a faster and faster rate.

Hard Weakness:
Completely Internal: There is absolutely no way to 'boost' his power. He is completely limited by his own ability to control 'thought energy' and to conceptualize what he wants to do with it, both of which require direct experience to achieve.
Construct Dependence: In order for his powers to work at all, his 'core' must remain intact. If it breaks, he'll lose his powers completely until it is repaired or remade.
Design Dependence: All of his powers are dependent on understanding the design of various things. He absolutely cannot produce or modify something without knowing its design with near-perfect clarity, unless he intends to damage it.
Easily Read: For those creatures that have the ability to read minds or whatever, Merrick is probably the easiest person to read in the entire universe. He is (almost) literally is made of thoughts, so his every action is conveyed with incredible precision to whoever can read thoughts. He can try to cover for this weakness by projecting 'false thoughts', but he has to do so consciously, and skilled mind-readers can just ignore the irrelevant stuff anyway.
Energy Form: Technically, everything in Merrick's body aside from his core is made of energy. As such, abilities that can nullify energy can nullify his 'body' based on the amount of energy that they can target. To do so, they have to be able to target both 'chemical' and 'thought' energy, rather than other extraneous types like 'electricity' or 'fire'.
Gaseous Incompatibility: Due to limitations in the way he 'targets' materials with his ability, he cannot convert gasses into pseudomaterial. If he wants to acquire the mass from a gas around him, he has to cool it down or condense it until it liquifies or solidifies. The same is true for plasmas.
Mundane: He doesn't fundamentally have any 'magical' properties. Sure, he could impose magical properties on himself, and his core has magical properties innate to it, but without his core, he's just a pretty mundane human. As such, not factoring any active efforts on his part, he isn't capable of resisting the powers of other creatures any better than a typical human is capable of resisting them.
Intent: He has to be conscious and willful in order to use his ability. So if he gets knocked unconscious, any ongoing effects will go offline instantly.
Proximity: He cannot use his power remotely, in any way whatsoever. He must have a direct line of physical, material contact between his core and whatever he wants to target in order to use his power. And, obviously, that material must all be pseudomaterial which is suffused with his thought energy, so it can't be a gas.

Personality: Helena Koyl learned from a young age that the world was what you made of it. The only justice and fairness is what you make yourself. As such, she goes after what she wants with dedication and tenacity. While her intentions for freedom and righting the wrongs of the Kabal, her methods at times take a darker turn. She has no delusions about her chances or what she'll have to do to destroy the Kabal, but she remains resolute. She is done seeing others like her victimized.
Another lesson she learned is that it is better to let people think they know what's going on in your head. It's better to listen than to speak. As a form of defense, she'll present herself as a sarcastic nihilist, using a white noise of snide comment to cover her watching and taking notes of what's going on around her. She keeps a sharp and cunning mind in the shadows as a hidden weapon.
While usually calm and collected, she can be pushed too far. Her fury is cold as ice, preferring a strategic destruction to her problems over a violent outburst. She can be friendly and warm to those she actually counts as friends, though that takes time and patience.
History: The Koyl family were something of an up and coming family in the Kabal. It was widely known that Lucius and Victoria Koyl had their sights set to the tip top of the Kabal's power structure. They groomed their three children, Helena, Fenik, and Jorge to be their successors to lead the Kabal when they past. Sadly, they never got far in their goals. Their ambitions outstripped their power and ability, leading to them pissing off the wrong kind of people. After Lucius bungled a delicate operation, the family was quietly disappeared. The kids were given over to a research institute as subjects for studies as to the origin of their abilities and how to force further evolution. Helena was poked and prodded to plump the depth of her mental powers. She lost track of time there, just lost in seemingly endless experiments. One night, she was awoken to find her mother, deathly pale and little more than skin and bones. Victoria urged her child to come with her, they were going to find her brothers and go. The pair of Koyl weapon sneaked through the facility, first finding Jorge's cell. Helena went in to get her brother to find something alien and mindless in his place. He lashed out with clawed hands, raking her head and face. The bellows from the monstrous Jorge alerted the rest of the facility, forcing Victoria and the wounded Helena to make a run for it. In order to ensure Helena made it, Victoria turned to face the security. Helena was the only Koyl to go free that night.
Helena was picked up by a nonpowered friend of the family, who treated her wounds and gave her a new identity to hide with. Though fer gripped her, an iron core in Helena promised to tear everything the Kabal stood for down and pull what remained of her family out of their clutches. For the next decade or so, she traveled, trained, and plotted. Knowing she couldn't make any head way on her own, she began searching for the Underworld to expand her list of allies. She currently works as a cook in New York while working on her latest lead on the Underworld.
Habits: Vaping, playing piano, tends to wear a beanie, fiddling with random objects (both with her hands and her powers), studying, and making smoothies.
Likes: Music, cooking, wind chimes, learning, and cartoons.
Dislikes: Wasting time, hypocrisy, being control, people staring are her scars, and pumpkin spice.
Fears: Being helpless. Getting to her brothers too late. Being just a pawn.

Primary power: Helena can manipulate a telekinetic field to move objects with her mind. When in use, this field manifests with a ghostly light and vapor, and tends to leave a “chill” to what it touches. Strength of this telekinetic field seems to currently be capable of lifting a few hundred pounds. This has increased since it developed and will increase with use. While clearly psionic, a study by the Kabal during her captivity theorized that Helena’s powers stem from manipulation of dark matter. The exact nature of Helena’s connection to dark matter was not determined by the study.
Secondary abilities: Her telekinesis can be used in a similar manner as sonar. She can send out a pulse of her telekinetic field to “feel” her surroundings. Fine details can be lost the further from her the pulse goes, with a range of about 10 meters.
Greater ability to resist mental attacks and other telekinetics.
Flight, because while it is difficult to grab other people, she doesn’t have that difficulty with herself.
Weakness to Overcome: Currently, Helena is bound by her current strength and mental stamina limits. Trying to lift something two heavy or moving too fast is very taxing. All uses of her power can deplete some “mental energy”. But as she progresses, her strength and stamina will increase, allowing for longer use of her powers and more force exerted. She will also get better at manipulating multiple objects at once. Additionally, she will be able to suppress her power’s aura when moving small and/or light objects for more covert uses.
Hard Weakness: Animate objects are difficult to keep a hold of. Living creatures in particular are very difficult and taxing to directly grab with telekinesis. For example, a teammate would have to be very still and cooperative for Helena to directly grab them and lift them the side of a building.
