One might call Nikita Anand an overachiever, but anyone who knows the woman can see that's an understatement. Niki has an insatiable drive to go above and beyond with everything she does, and achieve nothing less than perfection in the process. And if things don't go as planned, this blunt, foul-mouthed little prodigy will bulldoze her way through any obstacles. Often to her own detriment, as her blind tenacity tends to consume her to the point of neglecting important people and relationships. Though outspoken and critical, Niki usually means well, and genuinely enjoys helping people even if she can't resist poking a little fun at them while doing so. early life

Nikita Anand was the firstborn daughter of Eeshan and Divya Anand. She was their pride and joy--until about the first year of her life, after which the novelty of having a child seemed to wear thin for Divya, and Eeshan simply too busy with his career to make the time. With a workaholic plastic surgeon father and an unmedicated bipolar mother, it was no suprise Nikita would grow up neglected by both parents. In her early years she was mostly raised by her grandmother, until her beloved caretaker died of cancer when Niki was 5. After that, young Niki was quickly forced to learn how to fend for not only herself but her new baby sister. She felt it her duty to make sure little Sunny was cared for while their mother was off doing her own thing, usually either gallivanting around Los Angeles or laying around at home, too depressed to get out of bed.

Niki was an exceedingly bright kid, always miles ahead of her peers in every subject. She leaned into this identity hard, forever pushing herself to read and teach herself new things. Not just for her own enjoyment, but for her parents as well; it was seemingly the only way to get attention from them, especially her father. When it was suggested Niki skip second grade, Eeshan couldn't have been happier. He jumped at the chance to brag about his genius daughter without considering the social repercussions this might have on her. Leaving behind the few friends she had, blunt, outspoken little Niki found it difficult to make new ones due to her strong personality, and struggled to do so for the rest of her elementary school years.

Eventually, their parents divorced, and the Anand sisters stayed with Eeshan, who got remarried to a much younger woman. This caused an even bigger rift between Niki and her father. Not to mention his issues with alcohol that were gradually worsening. The shit really hit the fan when he ran into some malpractice issues while under the influence at work. Wishing to escape his problems and ruined reputation in California, Eeshan abuptly uprooted his daughters and new bride from LA to Anchor Bay, Massachusetts.

The move to Anchor Bay brought a much-needed fresh start to Niki's life. She was still excelling in her studies but finally started making friends, and even took on some extracurriculars to be more social, like basketball and mathletes. She kept challenging herself through high school, taking college courses along with her regular curriculum, and got so into it she ended up earning a bachelor's degree by 18. After that, Niki jetted off to UPenn for medical school, to fulfill her lifelong "dream" of becoming a doctor. And Eeshan was never quiet about his ultimate wish to have a daughter follow in his footsteps. So whose dream was it really? After fixating on that goal for so long, did it really even matter?

Niki has since returned to Anchor Bay to start her residency at the local hospital. She lives with her family at the moment, despite a tense relationship with her father and an even worse one with her vapid, superficial stepmother, who she feels is a harmful influence on her impressionable young sister.

Newborn to Childhood

Vanja was born in the United States into a family with slovakian roots, in a bigger city close to town called Anchor Bay. His parents were very nurturing people who adored children, it’s no wonder Vanja was blessed with a large number of younger siblings. Five in fact (Vanja has two biological younger brothers, one biological sister, adopted pair of twin siblings) + pair of girls who his parents took in foster care. Vanja’s father works as physician and his parents also own a small motel and the children often help with it. WHile growing up the Novak’s household was always full of life, and their house was always surrounded with a lot of people.

Growing up Vanja always took care of his younger siblings, so his parents could do their work. While Vanja was young their family wasn't super rich, but all the kids were able to go to school and no one had to go to sleep with hungry stomachs. Even though Vanja loved his family, it was suffocating to be with them. He didn't have enough privacy, for example 16 year old Vanja needed to be careful about what kind of movies and other stuff he brought home.

Childhood to Teenage

Vanja moved away as soon as it was possible. He was a reversed boy who cared greatly about others. He had only a few friends but he was very close to all of them. At eighteen Vanja started dating this guy called Remi. He was slightly older than Vanja and a handsome guy his parents loved. Vanja in fact came out by taking his boyfriend Remi into an event his parents had at the motel. Vanja’s sexuality wasn't a problem to his parents and they were very accepting and happy for him.

Eventually Vanja and Remi moved together. For the longest time Vanja thought Remi would be someone he would spend the rest of his life with. They had their sweet moments. Remi was charming and gave him lots of cuddles and headpats. Remi was also from a rich family and he helped out Vanja financially despite the younger boy refusing. However Remi had his own struggles, anger management problems and a personality disorder.

The two boys living together didn’t always go well. Remi would act controlling towards VAnja trying to pick who he could or could not see. At first naive and younger Vanja thought it was hot that Remi was so possessive and jealous over him. Then he started acting violent towards Vanja. He would hit the younger male while crying he was a bad person. VAnja was scared but he could see Remi was struggling so he took it all in.

Eventually Vanja started to realize that their relationship wasn’t a healthy one. Last stick was when 19-years-old Vanja got beaten up in the hospital by Remi. After that he really realized what his so-called lover was capable of. Vanja took it as a warning and broke up with Remi. He was too scared to ever speak about the abuse to his parents. But he did find a trustworthy adult from elsewhere.

Early adulthood

Doctor Joel berkowitz. He was the doctor taking care of him and Vanja was able to tell him about what he went through. JOel became someone he could trust and talk about his worries. Vanja is still healing from the relationship, but he has slowly and surely got his life back. He doesn’t think of Remi anymore, at least not most of the time. He moved into Anchor Bay to his own place and started studying criminology in the local university.

Vanja was never able to get himself into a romantic relationship. He had some friends with benefits and it was enough for him, or at least he keeps lying so to himself. Truth is Vanja is yearning to love someone and be loved back. However his life is as good as it can be in the current situation. Recently, however, Vanja had to face his past demons again. He matched in a dating app with a guy who had a rather suspicious account. Turns out it was a 16-year-old kid.

Vanja reported the account and it got taken away from the kid. The kid Ronan Chanthara, was however persistent and he wanted to get to know Vanja better. They kept talking and the kid seemed to be into him. Vanja however kept his distance. Eventually Ronan admitted he wanted to pay back his so-called cheating boyfriend and that’s why he originally downloaded the app. Vanja kept talking about this boyfriend with Ronan. By Ronan’s stories he figured out the boy was in an abusive relationship just like he had been as a teen.

Vanja wants to help the boy and messages Joel Berkowitz, who ends up knowing Ronan - the kid was friends with his own son. Ronan isn’t having it but gets angry and defensive. He blocks Vanja and the two never talk again. Vanja keeps worrying about the kid, not knowing Ronan had continued talking with Joel who even promised to get him in therapy.

Ronan’s parents weren’t interested in raising another child, they had more important things to do such as getting drunk and ignoring their responsibilities. It could be said that Ronan was basically raised by his older sister Roslyn. She was around fifteen when Ronan was a small baby. She was the one to act all motherly. Roslyn was the one who always took care of Ronan and she even took custody over him when she was old enough.

Growing up Ronan never realized how badly things were in his family. Roslyn was never able to get a normal childhood but she really wanted her baby brother to have that or at least something similar. Roslyn often took Ronan to different places like parks and playgrounds. Roslyn always bought children's music cd’s with her pocket money since Ronan really loved music and dancing. Roslyn tried her best to hide their parents' problematic ways of acting. They would have these mad dance battles Ronan always won. Whenever their parents were fighting after drinking, Roslyn and Ronan would compete to see who would be able to make the loudest elephant stomps while music was playing loudly in the background.

Childhood to Pre-Teen

When Roslyn was 20 she took custody over Ronan and the two of them moved away. Well they still lived in the same area, in a crappy small apartment, but Roslyn worked her best to make it seem homey. At least there were no drunk adults so it helped a lot. Maybe now she would be able to grant Ronan a happy childhood and truly act like a mother. However Ronan grew up fast and teen Ro didn’t need that much attention. What he needed was money, since Ronan got even more into dancing and needed money for her dance classes. By dancing he felt like he could express himself and forget about his worries. First he was into ballet but experienced other genres as well.

Despite Roslyn's acts of trying to be the best possible big sister, she was constantly lost with Ronan. He wasn’t exactly the easiest child. Ronan was very moody: he would be perfectly fine one day and the next day completely miserable and then the day after that extremely energetic. Most of the time however Ronan was a calm and reserved child who rather spent his time alone drawing. He didn’t have lots of friends growing up, in fact he was bullied in elementary and middle school. He was able to keep his calm in school but took his rage out of his sister.Luckily Ronan’s bullying finally stopped when he started high school. After being bullied for so long he wanted to just live his life and not be bullied by anyone.

Teenage

He managed to make new friends and finally he felt like he belonged somewhere. Eventually he even got himself a boyfriend. Jesse was two years older than him. He was absolutely sweet and quite the looker. But most importantly he was closeted. Ronan would have liked to let the whole word see their love, but it wasn’t possible. The longer their relationship continued the more red flags Ronan found. First being that Jesse wasn’t loyal to him, and when Ronan tried to confront him about it the older boy was able to make it seem like Ronan was in the wrong. Jesse was controlling and he loved making decisions for his boyfriend.

Jesse had a tendency to act rough towards Ronan, if he managed to piss him out. Worst part however was the sweet moments between them. Jesse would cuddle with him and buy him ice cream but then the next day he would be back to his old ways of acting. It gave Ronan a hunch how things could be between them, how loving Jesse could be in a perfect alternative world. The sweet moments made the wrong doings of Jesse feel even worse. Ronan really cared about him and kept lying to himself about it being love.

Only after a talk with a trustworthy adult, Dr. Berkowitz, Ronan started to question whether the relationship between him and Jesse was healthy. With new found confidence after the talk with Dr. Berkowitz, and encouragement from a friend, Ronan was able to break free from his so-called boyfriend. And even when he was supposedly free from Jesse, was the older boy still in his mind. Ronan was unsure if the scars left by Jesse would ever heal.

Growing up Dylan’s family never had any money worries. His both parents worked in politics and made a lot of money. Their parents’ wealth influenced each son in a different way, but for Dylan it made him irresponsible with money.

Childhood to pre-teen

Out of the four sons Dylan was the easiest to take care of. He followed rules and never caused any trouble. Perhaps because of this and the fact he was the youngest, he often got special attention from his parents whom he really respected. Dylan acted like a good son, ready to do his everything to get the sweet praise from his mom and dad.

But always when the parents weren’t seeing, Dylan would start fights with his brothers, mostly Vinnie. He would also blame Vinnie for his wrong doings. Always when Vinnie would fight back, Dylan would pretend like he hadn’t started anything and his parents would believe and blame Vinnie. Perhaps because of their small age gap, the two youngest brothers always bickered with each other and overall had a very competitive relationship.

Teenage

When Dylan was thirteen he became interested in politics. His parents were first very proud, but when they realized Dylan’s views were far to the left, they got disappointed. Dylan despised his parents' old fashioned beliefs. When he was only a kid, he hoped to become like them, but not anymore.

Dylan started to rebel against his parents in a subtle way. He didn’t break their rules, didn’t purposely do bad in school or anything like that. Instead he grew out his hair, started wearing skirts and dresses and took part in political protests that were against his parents’ political views. All this made Dylan's parents very ashamed.

Surprisingly other people were supportive of Dylan’s new interest in politics and new style. He didn’t become bullied for wearing traditionally feminine outfits, at least not by his friends or classmates. Derrick and Vinnie would mock him for his dress sense, when Jason often took his side.

Newborn to Childhood

Remington Murray was born in Chicago, United States, but his family moved to his mother’s birthplace Anchor Bay once he was 10. Remi was born as the first child to a wealthy couple in their 40’s. He was born at Christmas time and he was basically his parents' little Christmas miracle. His parents had been unable to get pregnant despite trying every trick there was. That’s partly the reason why his mother was pretty old while giving birth for the first time. Remi’s father worked with politics and his mother worked with organizing different events. Growing up the Murray family never had any money problems. They weren’t filthy rich, but they definitely lived comfortably.

That being said, Remi didn’t become too spoiled. His father was extremely strict. He wanted Remi to follow in his footsteps and work with politics in the future. To achieve that the man thought his son needed strict discipline and rules. Remi would get punished if he didn’t do well in school or otherwise caused trouble. HIs father wasn’t violent, but he would make the boy go to sleep without food or leave him in his room for hours without any activities if he didn’t behave.Remi’s mother on the other hand was a sweet and loving woman who didn’t agree with her husband’s strict parenting methods.

She would secretly bring snacks to Remi whenever the father made him go to sleep with an empty stomach or bring CDs to him when he was forced to be alone in his room. To outsiders it may have looked like the mother lived afraid of her husband. That the husband was the lead of the family and the woman obeyed. To some sense it was true, but Remi’s mother had her own ways of rebelling against her husband. Main way to go against him was to act like a sweet and loving mother. The second way was to cook as much blue food as she could and third one was to make influential connections and not be too dependent on her husband.

Childhood to pre-teen

Growing up Remi was jealous of kids with loving parents. HIs mother was loving, yes, but it was certain his parents were married because of money. He swore he would never become like that, he wanted to find his true love. Growing up Remi was quite erratic, his moods would change quickly from one extreme to another, and he was constantly anxious. Little by little it became clear that Remi would never become the ideal heir to follow his father’s footsteps. When the boy was fifteen his parents adopted a second child, a boy named Sterling. Sterling was five years younger than Remi who absolutely adored his new brother.

Unlike Remi, Sterling seemed to have a better chance at becoming the heir his father wanted. Despite his young age he was extremely smart and did well in school, unlike Remi who had always struggled keeping his grades up. To someone else it could have felt like they had been replaced, but not to Remi. Now that his father had a better son to focus on, he could do and go more freely. Remi didn’t need to put as much effort in his studies for example and he had time to focus on other things like partying and exploring his sexuality. He had few girlfriends and a couple boyfriends during his time in high school.

His father despised his sexuality saying no son of his was a I'm uncultured. However there was nothing he could do about it. To Remi’s mother it was all fine. However, his father not accepting him still hurt the boy and he felt like what he was doing was wrong, that there was something wrong with him. And his sexuality wasn’t the only wrong thing about him. Remi felt all his emotions too strongly but mostly he struggled with anger. He couldn’t deal with it, it felt so strong he lost control of it. It made Remi so anxious and scared he would isolate himself from others.

For weeks, he just stayed in bed doing nothing. The boy is just rebeling, his father said, but this made Remi’s mother worry. She took her son to see a psychiatrist and Remi was diagnosed with depression at 17. Two years later Remi got diagnosis for type two bipolar, and two years from that he would be diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. While growing older, Remi continued struggling with his mental health and education. Music was something that helped him to deal with his emotions. After finishing high school he never attended college, he wanted to pursue his dreams with music.

Teenage to adulthood

Remi felt like he was unlovable. But then at 19 he met this one boy called Vanja and they fell in love. Vanja was from a somewhat poor family from the city close to Anchor Bay. Vanja was extremely cute and someone Remi adored. Vanja accepted him as he was with all his faults. Perhaps too much so… Remi would occasionally lash out at Vanja and put his anger in him, hurting him physically. Everytime he would feel extremely bad and disappointed in himself crying at Vanja how he was a bad person. Vanja would cry with him and say it was okay, he loved him anyways. Their relationship wasn’t a healthy one but stubbornly Remi believed he would make it work.

In the end he didn’t and the results were not pretty. One night Vanja and Remi were having an quirrel. Vanja threatened to break up with him. WHen Remi heard those words something snapped in him. He hit Vanja, not once or twice, but time after time. He took his anger out at the younger boy as if he was a punching bag. Remi realized what he had done once it was too late. After a quick call in shock with his mother, he called an ambulance and Vanja got taken out to hospital. If it happened to someone else, it would’ve become a big thing. However, thanks to money Remi’s father was able to wash his hands from the whole mess.

That was still the last drop to Remi’s father who said he would never again help Remi out, before disowning him. After that incident Remi has struggled to move on, he felt like a disgrace to humanity. He had no education, no money and no worth. He felt like he couldn’t live without Vanja who finally broke it off with him for obvious reasons. emi moved back to Chicago in order to pursue music. It felt like nothing mattered anymore, but he decided to keep fighting. He found other struggling musicians and formed a band. He became the figurehead for an indie rock band, which even managed to produce a couple radio hits.

Remi however continued struggling with his mental health and anger management issues. He often fought with his bandmates and in the end they threw him out of the band. Remi is back in the starting point, back in Anchor Bay. Trying to make the whole music thing work again.

Instead he was raised by his thai-chinese mother and her finnish fiancée. So growing up he had two moms and a little sister. His childhood was your typical one with its ups and downs. Life was fun, he enjoyed learning new things in school and loved his family over the moon.

However Niila still sometimes wished he would have different parents, ones like everyone else was having: fully finnish mom and dad. Nowadays he’s proud of his moms and his roots but as a kid it was hard to accept. He had a Finnish name, in fact he was Finnish, but he didn’t look like one. All those things he now is proud used to be just reasons for him to get bullied.

Niila was bullied the whole elementary school, but he just endured it. He never talked about it to his parents or teachers. However he did fight back his bullies. He would either attack back verbally or physically. The bullies were smart, or he was just a dumbass, because always when he was defending himself a teacher would come and he would be seen as the bully.

He tried to explain himself but the teachers didn’t believe him. Luckily Niila was able to endure it since things were good at home and he had some friends and things he was passionate about like sport. Sport was something he could safely take his anger on. He especially enjoyed football and finnish baseball.

Childhood to Pre-Teen

Niila’s bullying stopped in 7th grade when he attended lower secondary school. It was the morning's first class, sport. The class was just starting and the students were sitting at the stage, since the sports hall also worked as a ballroom for special occasions like the kevät juhla/spring fest/school’s ending party and so on. The stage was about a meter and half high. Niila was just chilling and chatting with his friends.

The teacher went to get something from the storage room and that was a great opportunity for his main bully to mess up with him. Suddenly the bully grabbed his ankles and started to pull Niila down the floor. He was screaming that he would fall, but that didn’t stop the bully.

In the end Niila fell in this sitting position and his left leg was under his body. Three small bones in the back of the foot broke and he had to go to hospital. That was when the Teacher’s took Niila’s bullying seriously. The bully moved to another city, and no one bullied him after that incident. Niila got to spend the rest of his teenage years in peace. After graduating from lower secondary school, he applied to upper secondary school. Life was once again good: he made new friends and so on.

Teenage

The bullying left some scars but Niila was able to find self acceptance. He was even able to forgive his bullies even though he didn't accept or forgive their actions. Niila couldn’t still help but feel like he was different, that there was something wrong with him. Niila didn’t know if it was because of the bullying or just his nature, but he didn’t seem to be able to connect properly with other people.

He cared about his family, he had friends but he always felt like the relationships were superficial. And then there was the fact that he was totally unable to feel romantic attraction. When his friends got girlfriends he couldn’t care less to do the same. He did want to lose his virginity and to love an be loved back, but it felt like an impossible task.

In his third year he got an opportunity to go to the States as an exchange student. The plan was to spend his third year in the States and take an extra year to finish his school after the exchange project. First he refused since he’s anxious about speaking in English and interacting with people in his home country with his mother tongue was already difficult.

However his parents persuaded him and he changed his mind. At first Niila regretted starting the exchange project. He was all alone, struggling with English and unable to make new friends. But once he decided to just stop worrying, chill and see what happens, things started to work out.

He tried new things like joining in parties and getting wasted. He managed to get a couple acquaintances, lose his virginity, which he first was happy about. However he started to regret it when he met a girl who he felt more genuinely attracted to. Arthur was the same age as him, the sweetest and prettiest girl with a habit of babbling about possible ways to get murdered. (she was a writer, not a serial killer.)

For the first time Niila understood what it meant to be in love. He had never felt anything like that, it was a sweet but painful feeling and Niila didn’t know what to do. There was no reason for Arthur to like him and he didn’t want to get rejected. However, it turned out Arthur shared his feelings and they started to date.

Early childhood

Galileo Schmidt was born into a multicultural family in Germany, München, as the first born child. Five years later the family was blessed with another child, Galileo’s sister Delilah. Their parents were big Queen fans back in the day and named both of their children after the band’s songs. Leo’sfather was German and mother African american. Because of that Galileo learnt both English and German at a young age and became fluent in both languages.

Growing up Galileo’s family was something between upper middle class and middle class. His parents were both from strict religious families but they had more open minded views and they wanted their children to not experience the same things they had gone through. His father worked as a professor in a local university and mother as the church’s youth worker.

Teenage

Growing up Galileo had a good relationship with both of his parents and little sister. However what he struggled with was making friends of his own age. Leo was always terrified when he had to be around other kids, he was too terrified to talk, not that he never talked that much to his family either. This made the parents worried, just why was he so quiet and had difficulties making friends? When Galileo was seven his parent’s questions got answered, as he was diagnosed with selective mutism.

His parents felt saddened by it but they wanted to make the best out of the situation. They started to study both american sign language and German Sign Language in order to teach it to Leo also had to take part in speech therapy. However the whole thing didn’t make Leo’s life any worse. He could still do things he loved like sport and little by little he started to become more comfortable with speaking out loud.

Entering adulthood

However when Leo was 15 his family moved to his mother’s birth place Anchor Bay, MA, in the United states. It was as if everything he had worked for was now meaningless. He was surrounded with a new culture and strange faces. Speaking out loud became as difficult as it had been before. In the new country Galileo had difficulties making friends no matter speaking of girlfriends. His parents weren’t much of a help. Even though they tried their best to be modern and open minded, their past left a certain habits and attitudes to them. Certain topics were considered a taboo in their family such as sex.

Leo never remembered getting the talk of birds and bees from his parents. Always when he would ask something related to it he would just get blatantly ignored. Maybe this was one of the reasons Leo found it especially difficult to speak and be around the opposite sex. Leo was able to explore more with his sexuality once he moved away to his own flat at 19 and started studying psychology in local college. Little by little he gained confidence and started to become more comfortable around people, even though he still occasionally finds himself in situations that make him too terrified to speak out loud.

Newborn to Childhood

Byul was born in Anchor Bay. Her mother was not supposed to get pregnant because of a genetic condition. In her father’s eyes it was the biggest fault a woman could have, but he loved her even more than that. So because things were like that, the parents didn’t really take care of protection. Suddenly Byul’s mom became very ill. She would have morning sickness and any food she ate would come out. Byul’s father got really worried and took his wife to see a doctor. The doctor just laughed and congratulated them. The confused couple soon got to know that Byul’s mother was in fact pregnant.

She was pregnant with Byul. Byul’s father was a traditional korean man who wanted to have a male heir who would be able to continue the family. It’s no wonder his wife being pregnant with a baby girl was a huge disappointment to him. When byul was born, he didn’t even came to take a look. It made Byul’s mother desperate. However, help came from somewhere unexpected. Byul’s grandpa had never been a proper father but he wanted to be a proper grandfather.

He helped with the baby when the father had more important stuff to do. As a way to say thank you, Byul’s mother let the grandfather pick a name for the newborn. He picked the name Byul, Star in Korean, after his childhood dream of becoming an astronaut.

Childhood to Teenage

Growing up Byul tried to do everything to get noticed by her parents. She always tried to act as polite as possible and she always was the best student at school. She would have been a perfect child, her gender just was wrong. Byul felt like no matter what she did, she wasn’t appreciated in her family. Her feelings got worse when a certain Yohan Cho came in her life. Yohan was like a dream come true. Byul liked him, but what started as a positive feeling would soon turn into a negative one.

Thing led to another and Yohan started to live with them. What seemed like a good choice, was in fact a very poor choice- at least if you ask Byul, but no one asked her. Byul’s parents really adored Yohan as their own child and at first Byul was happy about that. But when she noticed she was losing her position to him, she started to turn into despair. Yohan was like a dream son, the son her parents wanted but were unable to get.

Early adulthood

Byul was left to Yohan’s shadow as if she didn’t exist anymore to her parents. She really regrets bringing the boy home. However she decided to not give up, but keep trying to get her parents attention. She continued working hard at school and even got accepted in university in New York to study aero engineering. Her parents however didn’t care about that. Byul felt like she had walked in a blind alley. She started to get symptoms of depression and anxiety.

She was always anxious and nervous. One visit at the doctor and she got a prescription of sedatives. It didn’t take long for her to start to misuse them... Byul felt extremely lost. She had always done her everything to please her parents that she didn't know what she truly wanted to do. She started to hang out with the wrong people which worsened her situation even more. She started to skip school on a daily basis and sorrow her worries in alcohol. Eventually she stopped going to school at all and that lead her to get suspended. WIth nowhere to go she found herself back to AB asking help from Yohan.

Newborn to Childhood

Roslyn was born in the States in a town called Anchor bay. She was a planned pregnancy and her parents were happy to get her. Their circumstances were not the best for getting a child, but they really wanted to form a family so that’s what they did. Roslyn’s father Chao was from Thailand and her mother Susan was a white American who visited Pattaya on her vacation. What was supposed to be just a holiday romance, became something more. Chao left everything in order to marry this woman and live with her.

FIrst four years were perfect: Susan had some savings and she was working as a CEO of a well succeeding business. Chao was a stay at home father and he was the one to mostly take care of Roslyn. He would have loved to work but no one wanted to employ him because of his lack of english skills. Chao didn’t really know anyone but drinking and visiting bars made him feel like he was part of something.

Soon things back fired. Susan’s company became part of this huge pyramid scam and it was a big hit for the company’s public image. After it came to the public, no one wanted to do anything with the company and slowly but surely it went bankrupt. Susan started to join her husband on her bar visits. She noticed a glass of cheap wine made her temporarily feel better. They lived well enough for a couple more months but eventually the family ran out of their savings. And the little money they have went on the parent’s alcohol use, which just became a bigger problem. Eventually they had to move into a small apartment on the worse side of the town.

Four years later the mother gave birth to a baby boy, who Roslyn got to name: Ronan. Ronan wasn’t a planned pregnancy and the parents weren’t interested in raising another child. They had more important things to do such as getting drunk and ignoring their responsibilities. It could be said that Ronan was basically raised by Roslyn. She was around eight when Ronan was a small baby. She was the one to act all motherly. Roslyn was the one who always took care of Ronan and she even took custody over him when she was old enough.

Childhood to pre-teen

Growing up Ronan never realized how badly things were in his family. Roslyn was never able to get a normal childhood but she really wanted her baby brother to have that or at least something similar. Roslyn often took Ronan to different places like parks and playgrounds. Roslyn always bought children's music cd’s with her pocket money since Ronan really loved music and dancing. Roslyn tried her best to hide their parents' problematic ways of acting. They would have these mad dance battles Ronan always won. Whenever their parents were fighting after drinking, Roslyn and Ronan would compete to see who would be able to make the loudest elephant stomps while music was playing loudly in the background.

When Roslyn was 20 she took custody over Ronan and the two of them moved away. WEll they still lived in the same area, in a crappy small apartment. But Roslyn worked her best to make it seem homey. At least there were no drunk adults so it helped a lot. Maybe now she would be able to grant Ronan a happy childhood and truly act like a mother. However Ronan grew up fast and teen Ro didn’t need that much attention. What he needed was money, since Ronan got even more into dancing and needed money for her dance classes. Roslyn started working many odd jobs. But she was still left with free time.

She started painting and showed a great talent for it. On her freetime she would go to the local park and sketch random people and then showcase the drawings to the people she sketched. It was always fun when a person got super happy from a drawing she made. Once however, instead of being happy this one guy started crying. Roslyn got worried but the guy just said he was so happy to see the art Roslyn had made. The guy introduced himself as Nathan and said he was just recovering from divorce. Nathan and Roslyn started hanging out and eventually, they got together. Nathan had two kids from a previous relationship and a big house which belonged to Nathan’s grandma. Roslyn finally felt like she was able to offer Ronan a normal loving family.

Teenage

However happiness never lasts long. Roslyn met another guy she also fell in love with. His name was Jed and he was also going through divorce. Roslyn knew she shouldn’t do it, but her heart said otherwise. She and Jed started to hook up regularly. At the same time Nathan was as loving as ever and Roslyn couldn’t help but feel guilty about cheating on him. In the end she needed to tell the truth to nathan. And when nathan heard the truth, something snapped in his head. He had already lost one woman he loved, he wouldn’t lose this one as well.

Nathan became controlling after finding out Roslyn cheated on him. He started to critique Roslyn for his mistakes and quilted her for cheating. He became more strict, not letting Roslyn leave their home or hang out with other people. In one moment Nathan would be cuddling with her and complimenting her. Roslyn regretted what she did to Nathan. She was afraid of disappointing Nathan again and agreed on things he didn’t actually want to do. Roslyn would spend his days alone in their apartment cleaning up and painting while waiting for Nathan to return. She was constantly stressed he would do something wrong and disappoint Nathan. She started to feel like only Nathan's needs mattered.

Their relationship lasted for a year. It ended when Roslyn got her first depressive episode. For three weeks she just stayed in bed and only moved to go to the bathroom. She only ate so much her head wouldn’t start to ache. Her mind was in a bad place and she felt completely isolated. Nathan didn’t want to see Roslyn like that. Nathan, who was lost and unsure about everything, ended up contacting Jed. He didn’t know what to do or who to call. Luckily Jed knew what to do and called help for Roslyn, who got hospitalized.

First Roslyn felt completely devastated about the break up, but little by little she got used to life without Nathan. She moved back to the old crappy apartment and it was again just she and Ronan. She started pursuing art more seriously and started to save money in order to be able to study art in university.

Astra is quite a nurturing, kind soul. She prioritises family over everything, despite having some downfalls. From a young age, she matured quite rapidly as it was only her and her mother for the majority of her childhood, hence, she had to grow up slight faster to help around the house. That being said, Astra is quite ambitious, creative and resourceful when it comes to coming to terms as how to tackle her life and grabbing the bull by the horns. On the other hand, she can get easily irritated by the slightest inconvinience which led to the downfall in her marriage, especially since they dimmed out their compatibility for each other. Backstory to date...
(Scroll) Astra was born to Carolyn Hill in Montreal, Canada. She never quite knew her father nor did her mother, as she had a past where she had gotten herself go and was unsure even. For that reason, Astra grew up not knowing her father and living only with her mother who worked for the majority of the time as she started to grow up into a young girl. Being an only child with a working mother, it got lonely. So she tried to spend her time distracting herself. In her case, she spent her time restructing her room, drawing and even taking care of her plants that her mother constantly surprised her with. Carolyn despite being mostly at work, she always surprised her with little one with things she lovd like sketching pads, a small succulent, plant and so on. After 11 years of being just them, Carolyn met a father who also had a child close to Astra's age. After some time introducing one another to the families, the pair moved in with her mother's boyfriend and his son. Astra and Alistair only had a year gap between them and they became quite close as years went by. Astra was used to being the center of attention and having that attention split was something that she thought she would hate but actually was not bad. She was still her mother's first priority and her mother's happiness was hers.
At the age of 14, she recieved news that her mother was to marry her current boyfriend. By that Carolyn and Astra took the Hawley name and were considered a united family. Despite all, Astra was happy she also had a fatherly figure around. Even if sometimes they all did not agree but families do have their fights. As she continued growing up, Astra wanted to pursue her interior design dream. She had started uploading her ideas all over social media and a designer in Paris who wanted to try her ideals in reality to which she agreed to. True, Carolyn was not thrilled about her daughter going abroad by herself. In fact, their argument was the last tone she had left her on when she departed from the airport. In fact, upon her arrival to Paris, she met with the manager designer she got in touch with, Leon Graham which to her surprise was not that much older than her. Astra's interior design idea's on studio apartments and bedrooms were taking a hit within the company that she was employed within months. Her and Leon were partnered up for many client groups together which led to sleepless nights, lots of planning, lots of wine drinking and sometimes even butted heads but one thing led to another and even ended in each other's beds once in a while.
In the meantime, as her career started to shoot up both in Paris and through her social media, her family back home had moved to Anchor Bay. Her step-brother, Alistair tried to keep her posted as much as possible. She was not really in talking terms with her mother in the first place but she was aware that she saved up for an office to continue hr work within Anchor Bay. She did not update them from her end. In fact, at the age of 20, on a very instant decision her and Leon saw how both compatible they were and he proposed and they eloped without even notifying anyone. She did inform Alistair but no one else. Little did she know what she gotten herself into. Leon was very nice, generous and romantic at the first few years of their marriage. In fact, they were even trying for a child which Astra desired so much. They successfully got pregnant but as things were going smoothly, complications were present and at the second trimester, Astra lost her baby which a devastating blow on both of them. Trying and trying again they were struggling to become pregnant due to her rate of fertility after the misscarriage. However, that started to put some fractures in the wedding. He was blaming her for not able to bare his children and even tried to overtake her at work many times. Stealing her ideas like they were his, discrediting her, zoning her out which was really starting to feel pressing on Astra. She had hit a low point in life and all she wanted was her mother. As she went to call her mother, everything led to voicemail which was worrying. As she contacted Alistair he informed her that her mother fell gravely ill and took a turn to the worse that she sadly passed away. The guilt and remorse that washed over Astra was monstrous. She did not get to see her mother before her death and worse the last time they spoke was an argument.
Three years later passed and things with Leon took a turn for the worse that she even got revoked from the business in Paris due to the continue sabotaged discredits and her designs being pickpocketed by her own husband. Her career and her mental health were taking a plummet. As she approached Leon, whom she still cared for and loved, she tried to explain what she was feeling and why he was doing this to her. He was never like this with her. How could someone turn so cruel in the split of a second? Astra has had enough, she in fact wanted to file for a divorce which he kept on refusing. This was quite childish if he was going to treat her like rubbish. She decided to pack her things and simply leave the house, Paris even. On such short notice, Astra was on a plane back to Anchor Bay in hopes her step brother would welcome her back after these years... and that no one would follow...

Backstory to date...
(Scroll) Larissa is the oldest child in the Cohen family of four. Her father was born and raised in Massachusetts where as her mother is a native from Thailand, making Larissa half American and half Thai. Larissa and Maria, her younger sister, were born and raised in Anchor Bay. From a very young age, Larissa enjoyed the simple quiet life at home. She was not much of a socialite. Always preferred the company of a good book than going out. On the contrary to her sister, she was the life of the party. From a young age, Larissa intrigued herself in the art of journalism. Her childhood reading was newspapers, daily updates and articles online. In fact, it was those that triggered Lara's love for journalism.
At school she would start scribbling small stories and facts around the school for the school paper and she even started blogging at a certain point in time. Be it a food blog or daily adventures blog. Her family spent a lot of time abroad travelling given half of the family are either in Thailand and they also had some family in Finland which they tended to visit. In fact, the families were quite close despite living far away. When she was 12 years old, they went to Thailand for a long vacation and it all went well. Until the last day, Larissa's world turned upside down. When on a boat tour in between some islands to the main land, the weather was quite windy. In the middle of their travels, a storm cooked up out of nowhere and apart from the windy waves, lightning struck their boat, the boat was pushed into an elongated sharp rock a few miles off shore which caused a wreckage. All the tourists on board panicked and Larissa saw her family nowhere. Water was everywhere, around them, pouring and splashing her face as she felt the boat sink lower. She caught a glimpse of her parents which were already knocked off board a few ways back. The crew grabbed Larissa by the wrist and went to escort her to the safety boats with the rest of the children. Larissa screamed and pointed as her parent drowned, telling the to go get them. Nonetheless the young girl was picked up with her sister and taken to the boat. As the crew steered th life boat towards the children's parents, it was too late. They had swallowed water and finalised their last breaths struggling to stay afloat. The sisters hugged and cried to eachother as there was no sign of their parents. All there was debris.
After that horrifying accident that made the sisters orphans, the pair stayed in Thailand with their next of kin which was her mother's sister. With no sudden notice she accepted the girl's with them with no issues. Who was she to turn down her nieces who still needed to grow up. However, as much as she is grateful for her aunt that she kept her and her sister, Lara was not one to stay there. She wanted to return back to Anchor Bay where her heart remained. She kept updated as much as possible through news and watching over social media. In fact when she turned 18, it was her desire to move back to their old house back in Anchor Bay. Larissa wished her sister, Maria would accompany her but she had no desire to leave Thailand. As much as she pestered her, the answer remained a no. Her aunt provided her with some extra money for the travel back and provided her with the keys her parents had gave her in case her aunt had visted them. As sad as she was to leave her relatives, she was excited to head back home to Anchor Bay where she grew up and even start college there and finally pursue her dream in journalism. As she stepped foot back home, the nostalgia hit her hard...
Once settled in her old house, it felt quite empty without anyone so as she started settling in these last few days she wanted to get her school application in, which she managed, apply and get a job part time which was also managed thanks to the man that owns the music shop and lastly a room mate... she had organised some flyers to be put up for advertising.

Backstory to date...
(Scroll) Scarlett was the second and last born daughter of a very strict yet protected pair of parents. True Bailey, her sister was older than her by two years but Baileygotten the short end of the stick when it came to it. Scarlett and Bailey were two peas in a pod and they related to one another from a very young age. Thier parents were the epitome of the perfect Christian family and doing everything by the book. They used to eat dinners together, go to church every Sunday, read a few pages from the Bible every night before they slept and so on. The sisters agreed that this was absurd and they did not want to be perfect. Her sister rebelled, defied them even. With that resulted punishments and rules. Rules that were already established, Scarlet knew best not to defy them and so she did not follow her sister's footsteps. She tried her best to obey their rules as much as she disdained them. Only Scarlett had a small problem which always caused trouble for her without her wanting.
From a young age, Scarlett suffered from short term memory loss which resulted in certain random episodes where she forgets what she was told or even minor details at some point. Most of the time she got into trouble with her mother as she was odered to help with chores like the dishes and literally a minute later forgets and ends up doing nothing. This led to think Scarlett was acting as a rebel and not listening to them and that was not the case at all. Scare started getting worse and was also failing a lot of classes due to this. The teacher had brought it up to her parents but they dismissed the issue. It wasn't until one time that she had escaped the school thinking that she had forgot her way home and that school had finished at the start of the day. That raised an alarm to her parents and went to diagnose Scar at the age of 11, around the same time Bailey was giving them issues by being with another girl instead of her parents' standard. For 2 years straight. As Scarlett was diagnosed, they refused to put her on any medications. They were anti-medicine. Instead, they got their daughter a charm bracelets where for every key moment in her life was based on a charm. True, it helped her remember about her family. Her parents were symbolised by two flower charms (one silver and one golden) whereas her sister was symbolised by a blue treble clef.
All was going perfect for the young girl until one fine morning she heard her parents crying and yelling. As Scar went to the noise, they were in her sister's room. It was shocking that her sister was nowhere to be found. She laid in her bed day and night, as months passed, presumed missing. One night her mother was infuriated of Scar crying for her sister and snatched her by the wrist, breaking her bracelet. All her charms ended up on the floor as Scar panicked. Her mother picked up the charms and swore she would get it fixed. Nonetheless, Scar was furious and blamed her for the departure of her sister and been at battle ever since. Scar turned a whole page of rebellion and started changing her attire. From pretty dressed to dark red and black attire. Her hair from a black shade to a bright dark red to orange ombre. Her makeup dark and lips black. She even got tattoos from the money she swiped from them. At least she was now something she enjoyed looking at when looking in the mirror.
As her parents saw her to give her the charm bracelet back, they nearly fainted. They threatened to kick her out even. She took the bracelet and stormed off taking shelter in the school. That night, she noticed a charm was missing. Her sister's. They took it away. Scar was furious, they took advantage of her condition to make her forget her sister.
That was the cherry on top of the cake. As she was doing daily check ups on her sister to see her whereabouts, she managed to get a hold of a sign that a diner in Anchor Bay was renamed to Blu's which ringed a bell. Looking down at her blue treble clef charm bracelet that represented the memory of her sister, she missed so dearly. Scar's memory hit a jackpot as she got it through her head that her sister might be in Anchor Bay. Grabbing all she had managed to gather from the savings she has managed to make at home, Scar left South Carolina and started her journey up north to Anchor Bay with just her major belongings, cash and herself. What could go wrong with a female that suffers from short term memory loss travelling alone across the states... Or whether it was actually her sister being there? After all this was a hunch from a memory.

Backstory to date ...
(Scroll) Jeremiah was born into an upper-class family back in New York that specialised in sea activities equipment. He is the middle child out of three brothers from the Waters family. Him and his older brother, Paul, despite being complete opposites, rarely seeing eye to eye at points, they are still as tight as ever. Compliment one another. Ever since he was young he always liked to flaunt his wealth and acted liked the spoiled rich kid he was. One with somewhat of a heart. Then there was his youngest brother whom he was deaf. He was also born with severe medical issues from the minute he started breathing. Jer and his younger brother, Matthias, were born in Anchor Bay when the family had moved to start fresh and set their roots there. Jeremiah was never one on education and school. It was crystal clear that he favored his fitness more than his brains. He spent all his allowance that his father gave him on gym, swimming lessons, gear and other things he enjoyed doing rather than investing on his education. He was on and on winning competitions both inside his hometown and even on national competitions. In fact, the amount of times he skipped school and got into trouble for it was endless.
All was good as he grew up apart from the greatest threat of all, college. He had missed almost a whole year when he was 17 due to travelling abroad for national swimming competitions that he nailed. His principal when he arrived back gave him another chance to accomplish himself by holding him back a year to regenerate what he lost. This was an absolute killer. His parents were keeping a strong eye on him to make sure that for once he was doing his utmost to finish this year. In fact he kept swimming as a hobby rather than his day-to-day. He rebelled against it and decided to just make himself present for classes and thats it.
Just as Jeremiah was picking up the pace, his brother suddenly fell very ill and him and his family diverted all the attention to him. They even travelled back to New York for some weeks for his treatments which were not quite successful as the young angel had left them as the battle he was fighting was too hard for his little body. The Waters family stayed with their relatives and made his memorial as well. It was a major hit they took, losing their youngest member like that. Tehy stayed a further week before returning back to Anchor Bay.
That was quite the wake up call for Jeremiah to start focusing on his life because life is short-lived. At least if he was scraping by in college he decided to at least get a job. Or better yet start one. He and his best bud, Hudson, who enjoyed his time by the sea. Joining their efforts, they opened a brand new shop by the sea shore "Let's Make Waves: Surf n' Swim." which combined both their capabilities of Hudson's surfing and Jeremiah's swimming. His father even gave him a good push to help them stock in the matter.

adaptable bennie has the personality of everyone. he mingles with theater kids to the smart kids all the way to the stoners and dropouts. somehow theres no situation he cant mold the perfect persona to.

Bennie was born and raised in a little farm town off London, England during a dead harvest season. Clearly, not the best time to have a child with low food and income resources galore. Despite being the son that his parents so desperately wanted, his unfortunate birth date was seen as a burden rather than a child to be cherished. Not much good can come from an extra hungry mouth to feed. Bennie's older sisters became more of his guardians than their actual parents were, stepping in for school events to personal affairs. Any older sibling would understand the unwanted role of parenthood; Bennie's sisters were no different. Being forced to care for a boy 12 years their junior, they grew to resent his existence.

Considering his status in his family, it's no surprise that Bennie grew up to be comfortable in silence. However much he wanted to run away from being alone, isolation enveloped him like a second skin. It was around the age five when he had begun weaving his next rope of solitude, tying himself to books and diagrams over human connections. Little farm towns in England aren't the best for little boys to make close friends, anyway.

One of Bennie's earliest memories was being bored. So bored that he'd use to sleep and goof off in the middle of class just to get him attention. Unfortunately, he didn't attract the attention that would send him home to his library or chicken coup. In fourth grade he was forced to go under cognitive testing to see why he wasn't able to focus in class. After exam over exam with academic specialists, they determined he was working at a 6th grade level. Okay— not the most impressive accomplishment, but one see why it leads to hell of an eyebrow raiser when he graduates at fifteen.

Throughout his school life, his accelerated academic experience did not come without a fair share of bullying. No one likes the smartie-pants who, in the initial stages of his transition to the older group of students, heavy handed the superiority complex. Once the worst of his snobbiness passed, he began diluting his personality to fit into groups that originally shunned him. It never quite worked, but he was able to redeem himself to some extent. The real reinvention of Bennie Alran started the moment his family left little England to the glorified Northwood College.

Without the support of his family, Bennie grew up using others to shape who he was. He was a man without direction, using snakes to replace his ropes hoping for a life of normalcy. For the first year, he was able to keep his age almost a complete secret. But like any hush-hush, truth begins to leak from seams. His life at college is mixed with parties and drugs, sneaking out and your average vandalism. Bennie's involvement with the less than honest activities reaped him a reputation. One that finally outshined his age, and the smarty-pants name that came with it.
