Backstory: Bren grew up in a freshwater lake in a forest underneath a highway. On account of being a naiad, or water spirit, she was unable to go very far from the lake where she lived. Accepted the fact that she could not leave, Bren lived a content life in the lake making friends with fish and passing forest animals, but secretly she wished she could go out and explore the rest of the world.
One day, an oil tanker fell off of the highway and collapsed into Bren's lake, creating a large oil spill which began to pollute the lake. Not only did it kill off many of the fish and other organisms which lived there, but as the spirit of the lake Bren's health was compromised. Before her nearly inevitable death at the hands of the polluted water, she was suddenly visited by a man around her age with a crown of seashells and a fish tail. His presence made the pollution recede and saved Bren's life.
The merman introduced himself as Triton, a minor god of the sea. He came to Bren's aid after hearing what had happened and explained to her about the horrors mankind had brought on the sea much like the oil spill which had nearly killed her. As a result of frequent water pollution, Triton was losing his power. Soon after he arrived, Triton returned to the sea, but not before giving Bren a seashell which she could use to summon him in case she ever needed his help again.
After her encounter with Triton, Bren became even more curious of what was out there. She felt the need to help somehow instead of sitting in her lake doing nothing, but there was nothing she could do.
It wasn't long before another accident happened on the highway. A concrete mixer truck overturned and spilled its contents into the lake below. Bren used the seashell to call upon Triton, but this time his presence didn't seem to faze the pollution. Instead, Triton touched Bren's forehead and transferred his energy to her, sending a ripple of power through the lake and purifying the polluted water. However, using the power of a sea god drained Bren significantly and forced her to pass out.
When Bren came to, she was lying outside of the lake on the grassy shoreline. Even though she couldn't go far from the lake she had always been able to exit it. However, this time she felt different. She looked at her reflection in the lake water and found that part of her hair had turned from its usual blonde to a murky purplish color; the same color as the polluted water had been. Experimentally, she walked to the edge of the forest and found that she could go as far from the lake as she wanted. Her ties to it had been severed.
Bren realized what had happened; Triton had tasked her with traveling the world and purifying all of the Earth's polluted water. And so, she set out to do just that.

-Breathing Underwater: Self-Explanatory. She can also transfer her ability to breathe underwater to another but only by losing it herself until both she and the person she transferred it to are both able to breathe air.
-Depth Strider: Bren can move freely through water and is immune to intense water pressure, allowing her to execute deep dives without being crushed.
-Communication with Animals: As a nature spirit Bren can commune with fish and other aquatic creatures. She can also be understood by surface-dwelling animals, however she cannot understand them.
-Rejuvanation: When she is in contact with clean water, Bren can alleviate herself of exhaustion, sickness or fatigue, and even heal from mild wounds.
