Name: Chapter Master Sigisar Teter
Age: 200 years
Rank: Chapter Master of the Shield Encarmine
Personality: Infectra's environment forges it's people into hard souls. Sigisar is the prime example. He does not falter, and he does not yield. He gives only the slightest tells of his emotions when outside of combat, making him an open book compared to the majority of his battle brothers. But his tactical acumen is immensely valued, should he feel obliged to give it.
Background: Sigisar was a tribal rat when the first Marines came, and before his ascension he would spend countless hours gazing at their fortress that had been erected nearly over night. He wanted inside, wanted to know why they were there. The only thing that rivaled the fortress had been the glittering white cities, and he had been in them a handful of times already. And so, he began to plan how he was going to get into that fortress.

He knew he could not simply go in the front. He had seen a tribe try to fight their way in when the fortress first arrived, and they hadn't made it as far as the ones that simply walked up and knocked. He could, however, study it from a distance. And from his days of watching, he managed to find a relatively blind spot to the fortress. He would need to climb one rock spire, then leap to a second and a third before leaping half way up the wall and somehow scrambling the rest of the way in before anyone noticed. But with only a rudimentary climbing pick and some dried intestines as rope, he clambered his way in. From there, he was lost, and was soon apprehended by the Marines on patrol.

He had never seen them so close before, and they were gargantuan. He thought he was to die right then and there, but instead they escorted him through the maze like network of hallways to who he would soon know to be Chapter Master Aleksizar. The man sat him down, and asked plainly. "How did you get in." And after much stuttering and stammering, Sigisar told him of the three rock spires he had used to mask his ascent up the wall. Aleksizar simply nodded, and dismissed the boy, who was escorted to a holding cell. The next day they brought him out once more, and seemed to purposfully take him by where those spires had been, for they were there no longer. And they did not turn him out into the desert like, he had not expected to but he had hoped. Instead, they began to train him. To turn his wiry strength into real muscle. And when it was time to recruit their newest aspirants, Sigisar was put in with the rest of them. He was not treated nicely, none of the aspirants were. The weak were weeded out quickly, the meek following soon after. Soon it was only the strongest and hardiest of them all, including Sigisar.

His ascension and years of service passed in the blink of an eye, Sigisar outliving his peers and gaining titles and fame with each engagement. After 50 years of service and obtaining a position as a company commander, Aleksizar took him under his wing and began grooming the now man to become the next Chapter Master. At 150 years of service, Aleksizar finally fell in battle. When his body was recovered, he was found atop a mountain of corpses belonging to traitor astartes, still standing, refusing even in death to kneel before any but the Emperor himself. The vote for the next Chapter Master was passed quickly, and Sigisar Teter became the fifth Chapter Master of The Shield Encarmine.

Appearance:
Scintilla Fusilier Officer.jpg
Name: Duane Jodovitti XIII
Age: 100
Rank: Colonel of the 13th Scintillan Fusiliers aka 'The Black Sheep'
Personality: Colonel Jodovitti is a devoted soldier of the Imperium with aspirations of climbing into the ranks of Imperial High Command. While seemingly foppish and hedonistic in some ways, Jodovitti is a calm and calculating military commander. He isn't afraid to butt heads with his superiors if he believes a strategy in ineffectual. He knows and enjoys the games of politics, viewing them as simply another exercise of strategy and tactics. He can come across as arrogant and he does play up his foppish nature if only to be underestimated by those who would try to undermine him and his ambitions.

Background: Colonel Jodovitti has earned his reputation initially with deployments in the Calixis Sector, fighting in the Spinward Front and various other conflicts across the region. He unfortunately managed to make enough enemies in the High Command of the sector to warrant his regiment being dispatched beyond its borders into the larger Imperium as a 'good will' gesture. This was considered exile as most Scintillan Fusilier regiments have generally been kept in Calixis to allowed the pampered nobility to remain close to home while seeking glory. Rather then be dispirited by this, Colonel Jodovitti adopted a black ram as his regimental heraldry. He and his regiment have shamelessly adopted the nickname of the Black Sheep, snubbing their highborn relatives and fellow Fusiliers who had dared to mock them for this exile. The regiment surprisingly continues to be very well supplied as the Scintillan nobility could not bare the embarrassment of even an exiled regiment not showing the full finery and regalia of their home world to the greater Imperium.

Colonel Jodovitti has little experience fighting Tyranids, but is prepared to test his will against them. He has faced various other Xenos and other forces in his escapades across the Calixis Sector and Imperium. The regiment marches on loyally behind him, knowing the Colonel does care for their well-being, if only because his pride and ego could not handle the idea of ill-equipped and untrained soldiers. They've also come to trust his surprisingly adaptive command style which has thus far kept the regiment functional and effective. Jodovitti has also had the experience of fighting beside non-Guard forces sufficiently that his political acumen is valued at times in keeping conflict from arising between the various commanders in a campaign.

Augmetic Eye (Digi-Weapon)

Iconography: An Aquilla perched upon a black ram's horns
Name: 13th Scintillan Fusiliers - 'Black Sheep'
Founding Era: Post-Angevin Crusade
History: The 13th Scintillan Fusiliers are a regiment under the current command of Colonel Duane Jodovitti XIII. Many of them are nobleborn from Scintilla but the regiment has replenished its ranks from the highborn of other Imperial worlds or even commoners when required. The same demands are made of all once they 'take the black' as the regiment likes to call it. They have adopted Jodovitti's Black Ram heraldry and embrace being called the Black Sheep. They take on all the disgraced and rebellious highborn of any Imperial world to refill their losses, drilling them into hard fighting and well-equipped line soldiers and mechanized infantry. They maintain suitable stables of Leman Russ Battle Tanks and Basilisks for their heavy support doctrines.

The 13th has made a name for itself since its exile from the Calixis Sector. Their willingness to fight just about anywhere despite their finery and high pedigree has made them surprisingly popular with certain Guard regiments that have served beside them. The Black Sheep have a reputation for being stubborn fighters who embrace an adaptive combat doctrine to ensure maximum effectiveness with all of their well-kept gear and supplies.

Name: Elias Sabot;
Age: 60;
Rank: Officio Assassinorum, Assassin of the Vindicare Temple.
Personality: Crude, but professional. The Vindicare temple stamped out much of his personality during the ten year tutelage; honing him into a weapon of precision death. However, fragments of the Hive-World child remain untouched, secluded in the unconscious depths of Elias' mind. Even before the indoctrination to the Imperial Truth, Elias boasted profound respect, admiration and devotion to the Emperor, hearing many of his-supposed-exploits from his father. He possesses a soft spot for pets and defenseless citizenry. Going so far as to save a child after completing his objective and exfiltrating. He takes pride in his craft, like his peers.

Background: A Hive-World orphan turned assassin, Elias began life as the son of a retired, or as the old man would say "washed-up," Navy officer. The young Elias didn't suffer much. Disparaged as his father was, he was still possessed of certain influence and value. However, this veneer of fame proved both fortuitous and calamitous. A string of whispered words culminated into a daylight robbery which resulted in the death of the father and crippling of the mother. Alone and unable to fend for himself, Elias was rounded up by the Schola Progenium. It is there that Elias was proven to be a natural killer then subsequently, secretively selected for training in the Vindicare Temple.

A ten year long blur of psycho-indoctrination, physio-technological enhancements, and tenderising teachings which morphed into the lethal lifetaker today. With numerous successful deployments under his belt, a kill to go with each, Elias turned out to be an excellent marksman; False prophets, Daemonic Sorcerers, and Aeldari alike were his targets. However, he is not without faults. During his last deployment, he had been given the unenviable task of assassinating a prominent sorcerer of The Thousand Sons. The shot was not true, managing to only wound the traitor. Allowing the briefest window of time for Imperial forces to overwhelm the sorcerer's position and eliminate him. Valuable equipment was lost. Though not considered a total failure, Elias sees it as a deeply personal one.

Now he is sent to Eydirhad for atonement. What better way than to assist a desperate force against overwhelming odds.
Equipment:
Exitus Rifle (The infamous Sniper Rifle of the Vindicare Temple);
Exitus Pistol (Matched with the rifle, every assassin is equipped with this self-defense weapon);
One Hellfire Round (Delivering a deadly payload of bio-acid toxins, this single round is devastating to organic opponents);
One Turbo-penetrator Round (Able to puncture the thickest hides or sturdiest ceramite plate);
Vindicare Suit (Sleek, supple, and stealthy. This bodyglove suit protects the assassin and enhances his already augmented attributes);
Vindicare Mask (A specialized piece of equipment. Feeds information (trajectories, atmospherics, chemo-psychic spoors, et cetera) directly to the assassin's mind, also possessing food cartridges and vox-pict capabilities);
Combat Knife;

Name: MAgos Vauss
Age: 736
Rank: Magos domina
Personality: Vauss is a bit odd to both normal imperials and the cult mechanicus, for one she still is firm about the trinity of the machine cult, which many tech priests dumb down for the uninitiated. She also would surprise many with how freely she expresses her emotions, seeing as the spirits of machines have and display them, then she should not remove her own as that would separate her from the machines. She straddles Mechanicus doctrine as well having digitized and copied her brain she has actually died a few times only to return in a spare body, with most if not all memories intact assuming she could upload before death. While not tech heresy it is dangerously close and a rarity among the machanicus. She also prefers a great autonomy among the skitari she commands, letting their alphas make choices without constant orders and should need be counter her own orders if reality does not line up with predictions. Vauss has honestly little interest in the mysteries of this world or the warp seeking only the place she saw long ago and might sometimes glimpse on dead worlds in the ghouls stars.

Background: Born in the vats of Kadath Vauss was made to be one that studies the mysteries of the machines. She would study in the temples of the machine god and rather quickly gain the Rank of Magos in only 100 years. She in truth was not interested in the mechanics of battle, but she was interested in what was in the black void of space in between the dying stars and so she had to learn if she ever wanted to leave Kadath. This took another 50 years of study before she was ready to be a domina and attached tp one of the exploritor fleets that Kadath regularly sent into the dark void.

Much of Vauss's record is sealed, she will only allude to the things found in the dark of the ghoul stars, though the Cythor fiends are one species she will freely talk of. The has aided the death specters from time to time of their culling of the creatures, but thinks they have never truly killed any. One of her most notable actions was known as the Slaughter of Yiib. The world of Yiib which was more a colony came under assault from the fiends out of no where, they had no ships in orbit, no wrap activity detected, they were just there entire cities appearing over night from nothing. It took 4 companies of the death specters and many macroclades of Skitari to cull the infestation. When they were at the last holdout it started to simply vanish. While the crystal citadel faded Vauss swears her sensors that she glimpsed somewhere. It was not a place of this world or likely the warp and then whatever that place was swallowed the citadel and it was gone as if it never had been.

That was many years ago and Vauss is a magos exploritor in her own right, functioning as domina when needed, and has researched into just what is wrong with the the ghoul stars. No one would ever say the ghoul stars were normal, but most would just call it cursed or blame the warp. Vauss seeks to disprove this and find out just what really causes this strangeness. Still Research into the unknown takes a long time and Vauss found herself called away often. During one such calls her ship was becalmed in the warp then blown through it as a storm lashed out. Emerging into real space Vauss would find herself far from home. While in the area she has received a request from a nearby forge world , while they were repairing her ship, to aid in a battle on a nearby planet that supplied them. Vauss reluctantly agreed.

Iconography: the mechanicus skull with tentacles encroaching and encircling it from below
Name: Forge world Kadath
Founding Era: dark age of technology
History: located in the ghoul stars the forge world of Kadath lies outside the light of the astronomicon, at least before the great rift cut that side of the galaxy off. The world like the region it inhabits is strange. Instead of the many rocky planets nearby it was created upon a gas giant where huge artificial islands form ever shifting landmasses. These islands house not only refineries for the gasses below but massive cogitators from the dark age singly analyzing something in the depths of the world and many other areas in the ghoul stars.

In the sane system of Yith are the twin planets Yuggoth and Shagghi which share the sane orbital path but are on opposite sides of the star. These along with countless asteroid mining station feed the forges of Kadath. Births on Kadath and the solar system are all done via vats similar to those used to grow servitors. The children to be all undergo heavy genetic scrutiny and yet all tend to look odd paler skin larger eyes and aura on unease.

The Yith system and Kadath were brought into the imperium with remarkable ease. They submitted some say within a day and were quick to get the imperium officials and even mechanicus representatives off planet. This lead to rumors that still persist to this day of techno heresy. Those are just rumors of course. During the heresy the forge world and system as a whole were silent and when finally were contacted again decade's latter claimed they hadn't even noticed or been told anything had happened.

Kadath would be mostly forgotten, outside the light of the emperor there was little in the way of traffic, and the forge world liked it that way. They in secret explored the Ghoul star's going further than any imperial expedition had ever gone and making many hidden discoveries. That was until the 34th millennium and and pale wasting. The forces of Kadath fought alongside the imperial and Astartes forces seemingly having expected this the forge world was able to supply most of the forces. Those few records that still remain that document the fighting describe the skitari forces as odd in some indescribable way.

Once the threat was solved and the death specters given vigil over the area Kadath would supply them and continue it's activities beyond the eyes of the imperium and mechanicus. Now the Magi of Kadath find outside events once more intruding upon their hidden home as the galaxy was split and the warp even more dark and violent.

Character Sheet

Name: Borin TorgarImperial Captain.jpg
Age: 133
Rank: Lord Admiral, Battlefleet Eydirhad

Personality:

Ambitious and curious, Lord Admiral Borin Torgar is a keen-eyed tactician that always prefer for cooler heads and critical thinking to prevail above brash and impulsive decisions.

He is loyal towards the Imperium but usually finds himself balancing and finessing his words whenever adressed by a superior of even greater rank than himself.

Despite his own rank Borin is humble and polite, preferring to cultivate good relationships with his crew and to inspire loyalty rather than attempting to drill it into them.

Some of his peers may think him to be weak-minded because of this but for Borin loyalty among the crew is just as crucial as any other tactical advantage, for they will all depend on one another in times of battle.

Background:

Born on a backwater world of some backwater system existing only as a faint and unremarkable dot on some Imperial starcharts Borin started off his teenage years as a dockhand at a Navis Imperialis fuel depot.

It would be here that Borin would find his opening into the Imperial Navy proper, being enlisted to replenish a battle-worn crew on a vessel hastily redeployed to intercept a squadron of pirates.

This first post would be a trial by fire of great measure. Indeed, few things could harden a boy like the shrill shrieking of an Imperial destroyer losing its hull integrity mid-battle as alarms blared and lights flashed.

Over a century later Borin finds himself suddenly promoted to Lord Admiral in the wake of a devastating tactical defeat which saw two thirds of Battlefleet Eydirhad be vanquished by Hive Fleet Fafnir as the swarm of Tyranids commenced their invasion of the sector.

Now in command of the remaining naval forces Borin must use all of his tactical skill to hold the xenos at bay until reinforcements can arrive to finish them off proper, all while balancing the needs of his fleet with the needs of the sector.

Name:
Battlefleet Eydirhad
Founding Era: M32

History:

Native to Eydirhad Sector the battlefleet of the same name was formed upon the Eydirhad Patrol, a local sector defense fleet consisting of a handful of outdated corvettes and destroyers meant to patrol and safeguard the territory against pirates.

Eventually though Eydirhad would receive its own battlefleet on direct orders from Segmentum Command att Bakka.

With most of the senior officers being transfers from other fleets the fresh ratings recruited would be put through rigorous training to earn their keep and titles of voidsmen.

Now, a great many years later, Battlefleet Eydirhad is a well-drilled and loyal fighting force of the Navis Imperialis. They do, however, remain largely untested in combat with most of the fleet's collective experience coming from brief skirmishes on the edge of the sector.

As Hive Fleet Fafnir emerged nearby this lack of practical experience proved to be the downfall of many a voidsman as Eydirhad lost two thirds of its battlefleet in a fierce but brief engagement with the Tyranid threat, including two of its main capital ships, its flagship and its Lord High Admiral alongside millions of crew.

This disastrous loss of equipment and life leaves the fate of the remaining battlefleet forces at great risk- and the sector's in great peril.

Name: Ofelia Fimble
Age: 42
Rank: Canoness Preceptor
Personality: Ofelia is defined by her faith and determination. She trusts that the Emperor’s plan is served no matter the set backs, and that even the gravest defeats can be turned into the most glorious of victories. Every battle, win or lose, teaches and refines her to a more effective tool of his will. She radiates with hope and resolve, allowing her to rally her sisters and other soldiers of the faithful against almost any threat. Her voice singing out in hymns and chants is common on and off the battlefield. She wholeheartedly embraces her Order’s devotion to protecting the faithful, taking care to safeguard civilian lives. Her countenance is often observed as mild and friendly, being mistaken for a sister of the Orders Hospitalus by some. But her iron core and fury comes quickly to the surface when provoked.
Background: Ofelia was born on Midgardia, loosing her parents to the planet's toxic environment. Identified for her aptitudes at an orphanage, she was sent to the Convent Prioris. Enduring the trials and training of the Adepta Sororitas, Ofelia was inducted into a minor order.
She spent her first few years guarding a shrine world, until it was attacked by Tyranids. While she believed her faith was strong, in the face of these xenos monstrosities, she faltered. Running from battle, she hid on one of the escaping ships along with the wounded. When she was discovered, she was cast out of her order, her only path to redemption was as a Sister Repentia. After taking the Oath of Repentence, Ofelia and other Sisters were conscripted into an Inquisitor's retinue as shock troops. She slaughtered heretics in the Emperor's name, but blessed martyrdom was always deigned her.
The Inquisitor Ofelia served was a pious man, but arrogant. This folly led him to a trap sprung by the Blood Cultists of Khorne he was tracking on a hive world. They had the infiltrated the world's guardsman and were posed to stage a coup to wipe out the remaining loyalist forces, with the Inquisitor as one final offering for the Blood God before the slaughter. Fell upon by the heretics, Ofelia meet them with roaring Eviscerator, joy in her heart that her martyrdom was at hand. Over the sounds of battle, she heard the voice of the tech priest. He spoke of needing time to preform the right rites to clear the vox channels to get a warning out. In a moment of clerity, Ofelia knew that her death meant nothing if the cult enacted their plan. She had to live to safeguard the lives of the Emperor's faithful. With the Light of the Emperor upon her, Ofelia tore off down a side tunnel, pushing the tech priest before her.
With the sounds of the Inquisitor and the rest of his retinue dying behind them, the duo ran until they hit a dead in. Telling the priest she would buy him as much time as she could, the Sister Repentia turned back the way she had come to face the chasing cultists. Meeting them somewhere in the middle, Ofelia used the cramped quarters and dim light to her advantage, confusing and putting the fear of the Emperor in her foes. In these moments, she felt absolute calm as the Emperor's presence filled her. She prayed that she would be able to hold long enough, and thanked the Emperor that this time she had enough faith to see her through to the end.
Ofelia wasn't sure how she fell, but awakening in a hospital bed shocked her. A sister of the Hospitaller Order attending her, but called to someone the moment she saw Ofelia was awake. An imposing sister of battle in dark armour came over with a stern expression. Introducing herself as Canoness Agatha, she demanded Ofelia tell her everything. The injured sister told her everything she had witness on this world, concluding with asking if the tech priest lived. Agatha confirmed he was, and that his warning signal had saved many lives, but that the battle against the heretics still raged on. The canoness informed Ofelia that once she was fit for duty, servants would come fit her for armour to continue her duty on the battlefield. Ofelia tried to protest that her Oath still bound her, but Agatha cut her off. The older sister of battle declared Ofelia's life had been preserved by the Emperor for a greater purpose. She had been reforged from her failures into a holy instrument of his will. Tearfully, Ofelia accepted the forgiveness and was brought into the fold as a member of the Order of the Hallowed Embers.
The next few months were spent purging heretics and learning the teachings of the Promethean Cult that the Order followed. These teaching brought comfort to Ofelia, seeing that the Emperor used her failure to remake her stronger than before. Her faith and devotion bolstered, the redeemed sister served with distinction during the purge, earning the admiration of her sisters, and the favor of Sister Agatha.
Years past as Ofelia rose through the ranks of the Order, achieving first a place among the Seraph, then as a squad leader. Sister Agatha mentored Ofelia as her right hand as a Celestian, ensuring the younger sister's talent and zeal were not squandered. When the Order prepared to field Paragon Warsuits, Agatha pushed Ofelia to test herself to pilot one of the holy relics. Ofelia at first struggled with the machine spirit of the warsuit, but was able to tame it with her devotion and pure spirit.
When the Canoness Superior of the Hallowed Hearts was martyred on the field of battle, Agatha was selected to take her place. Agatha elevated Ofelia to rank of Canoness and relied on her as one of her most trusted commanders. Ofelia and her small force of sisters were considered the elite of the Order, tasked with the hardest battles.
When Eydirhad‘s cries for help were heard by the Order of the Hallowed Embers, Ofelia immediately volunteered to lead a force to aid in the world’s defense. She argued that the opportunity to eradicate Hive Fleet Fafnir before it could recover its full strength to threaten more worlds was too great an opportunity to ignore. The Canoness Superior agreed, but also knew there was more to Ofelia’s offer. She had faltered in the face of Tyranids before. This was a test to ensure that impurity had been well and truly burned away. With the Canoness Superior’s blessing, the newly elevated Canoness Preceptor Ofelia was sent with a thousand of her sisters to Eydirhad‘s aid.

Homebrew Chapter/Order/Regiment/Forge World:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Iconography: stylized warhammer head with brazier flames coming out the top.
Name: Order of the Hallowed Embers
Founding Era: The Waning
History: The Order of the Hallowed Embers was established in the early 39th millennium as a splinter sect of the Order of the Sacred Rose who converted to the Promethean Cult. The fledgling Order sought to utilize the Emperor's wraith to shield the faithful from the heretics and xenos. Their first holy war was against a heretek cult who were kidnapping and experimenting on Imperial subjects. They soon found forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus pursuing the same foe. After some initial tension, the Sororitas and the Mechanicus joined forces to stamp out the blasphemers. This long campaign had a profound affect on the Order, shifting their battle doctrine to heavier use of vehicles.
After the hereteks were eradicated, the Order would often act as reinforcements to bolster the defenses of Imperial worlds. While they had a special interest in countering the actions of the Dark Mechanicum, they have faced off against xenos invaders and raiders such as Orks, Tyranids, and Drukhari. Though not as recognized as other militant orders of the Convent Prioris, many worlds were blessed by their faith and zeal.
Modern tactics for the Order of the Hallowed Embers leans heavily on their armoured cavalry. Repressor and Immolator units form the back bone of their force, with fire support from Castigators and Exorcists at range. Beacuse of their greater communion with the machine spirits, the Order's Exorcists are less volitile, and they field a higher number of Paragon Warsuits than other orders. Their infantry acts as support for their tanks, either firing out of the transports as they roll, or as defensive lines for the artillery. Name: Kandan Granit
Age: 278
Rank: Captain of 1st Company
Personality: As befitting of his role as captain of an Astartes chapter famed for their prowess in siege warfare, Kandan Granit is like an immovable object, able to weather any storm. Likewise he could be compared to an irresistible force as he has yet to find a fortification imperviousness to his attacks. He is well respected by his battle brothers and trusted for his ability to lead them to victory against seemingly insurmountable odds.
Background: Kandan Granit was born on the Hive world of Ulcirius II, which was still recovering from an Ork invasion. Granit was a member of one of the numerous hive gangers and his parents had been killed during the enemy's bombardment of the hive cities. Kandan lead an effective resistance against the Ork invaders, commanding the gangs and a civilian militia after the planet's Imperial garrison had been destroyed as an effective fighting force.
Despite their efforts, the Orks had superior numbers, firepower and endurance and Ulcirius was only saved following the arrival of the Imperial Guard regiments and the Golden Sovereigns space marine chapter. Kandan Granit's efforts came to the attention of Astartes recruiters, who were impressed with his leadership, courage and physical toughness.
Kandan was accepted into the ranks of the Golden Sovereigns and after completing his training and augmentations, was assigned the rank of Captain. For most of his career he commanded the 2nd company, but after the 1st company Captain's death during the Battle of Asprophale at that height of the Indomitus Crusade, he was promoted to 1st company commander. As the chapter's veteran company, they had top priority and the chapter had lost much of its manpower during the campaign along the 'Road of Martyrs' including the deaths of 6 Captains, leaving only 2 experience Captains left in the whole chapter.
Iconography: A gold aspis shield against a black sunburst
Name: Gold Sovereigns
Founding Era: 23rd Founding Chapter (successor chapter of the Imperial Fists)
History: The Gold Sovereign's baptism of fire came during the Siege of Agristopitis, a four year long campaign waged in first half of the 38th Millennium waged by the followers of Khorne and Nurgle to seize the important Imperial Industrial World. Experts in urban warfare, defending and taking fortifications, the Sovereign's were one of the Imperium's greatest assets during the siege. The great numbers and stubborn determination of the forces of Chaos were like a tsunami crashing against the jagged rocks of the grimly determined Gold Sovereigns. Forts were captured, recaptured, and captured a dozen times over but eventually the Imperium prevailed thanks in large part to the efforts of this chapter.
Other notable engagements include the Suppression of Chalisind (M39.381-402) a series of sieges to capture the namesake capital of a breakaway human empire which was interrupted towards the end by an Ork Waaagh! Chalisind was a forge world and its proximity to the Eye of Terror meant that its armaments and munitions were crucial in resupplying Imperial garrisons guarding against the ever present threat against Chaos.
Because of the very long periods they spent away on campaign and how they were deployed where resistance was the fiercest, they'd often conclude campaigns reduced to less than 10% of their strength. Their composition is mostly composed of raw recruits, formed around the veteran core of the 1st Company.
Uniform: The Gold Sovereigns make heavy use of the Mk X Gravis power armour, as their speciality in close quarters combat necessitates greater protection. Their armour is primarily gold, with black details on their arms, legs and torso.
