War Of Ages: Lore
A vampire is created when a human consumed vampire blood in some way (whether by drinking it, having it poured into their open wound, or by being injected with it) and has then died with the blood still in their system.
A vampires basic food source is of course blood, it can be human, animal, or even vampire (though the latter two are less satisfying to their cravings) The supernatural forces that sustain vampires also endow them with superhuman physical abilities as well as powers of mind control. Their physical abilities such as strength, speed, agility, durability, healing and senses all grow stronger with age and experience. Vampires who feed on animal blood will not be as powerful as those who feed on human blood. Human blood is also known to increase the speed of healing when ingested by a vampire after being seriously wounded.
They do not turn into bats contrary to pop culture, but they are senesitive to the sun, those who can getting magical rings that can provide protection to the creatures.

Wolves live quite differently from other creatures, they heavily rely on one another in a pack, living in a camp that often moved based on vampire activity, season and availability of food.
The wolves curse is powered by the moon but they can transform whenever they desire. On nights with the full moon they are forced to change, becoming wolves with less control and humanity flowing through them. Much like vampires they have an elongated lifespan, until they are 18 they age like normal humans if they are born a wolf then the aging process slows to a bear stop. In human form they also have extreme strength and speed just like their blood sucking enemies.
To tell them apart in rank wolves eyes glow when agrivated or in wolf form:
Violet for the Alpha
Yellow for Betas
Blue for Deltas
Green for Omegas

The War
The war started with the emotion most different from the hatred that fuelled it. Love. A young vampire princess (whatever family name is with in the royal family), while wandering through the woods met Rufus Lightwood, a young alpha who was trying to cope with his elder brothers death.
At this point in time, vampires and werewolves while they weren't friends they weren't enemies either, they kept their distance and usually stayed over their boundary line.
Over the next months, the two fell in love, being over the moon for one another, but one day in the frost of winter, it all fell apart. The young princess had ventured out to meet her love when she ran into hunters, the hunters were quick to kill the young vampire, leaving Rufus to find her dead and tore apart. Out of respect the wolf carried his lovers corpse to the castle where the family resided but much to his surprise he was accused of killing the princess, being an out of control animal.
Rufus ran, vampires on his tail. Literally. Once he made it to border, his people were gathered for dinner. As he was about to cross, the vampires caught up. Tearing the beloved alpha apart in front of his own people... from then on a venomous war had ravaged between the two, wanting to rid of the counter part.
