Roleplay Type(s)
Hello everyone! I'm Cactus, an adult RPer with a bit of extra downtime these days. I'm looking to pick up some new stories with active partners who appreciate complex plots with plenty of drama, romance (slow burn), and twists.

About Me: I tend to lean more on the realism side of things, but can dabble in light fantasy or sci-fi elements given the characters are human. Though I'm not a general fan of doubling, I do prefer that the rp has a large cast of dynamic characters to interact with. Chatting OOCly isn't a must aside from plotting. I can be a patient partner, but the occasional check-in is appreciated. All genders and sexualities are welcome. For mains, I tend to lean MxF without a heavy preference for which I play, but have been convinced to expand in the past for the right plots. LGBTQ characters tend to be featured in my cast regardless of where the mains fall.

About You: Advanced lit would be appreciated. I'm not bothered by time zones, but 2-3 replies/week would be a sweet spot for a novella-style partner. You must be an adult, as romance will be featured in all plots. A love for plotting is also a must.

Ghosting: I don't think anyone here intends to ghost, but RL comes first and sometimes it just happens. If I've ghosted you, I'm sorry. If you've ghosted me, you're forgiven. If you'd like to write together again, reach out and let's see what we can do.

All plots are 100% open to suggestions. If you have your own idea, feel free to pitch that too! You'll find some more developed than others, but all are open to interpretation, tweaking, and overhauling. PM is the best way to reach me.

WARNING: Some plots contain triggers. These can be worked out via PM through plotting if one takes your interest but needs editing.

F was a powerhouse starlet who succumbed to the pressures of Hollywood. The alcohol and pills caught up to her at a party, where she attacked her assistant in a blind rage. She has no memory of what actually happened but woke up in a jail cell the next morning with a guard willing to play her the viral video on his phone. Her victim suffered lifelong injuries from the incident, and the prosecutor was all too happy to throw the book at F. She is quickly locked away into a maximum-security prison with a sentence of 10-15 years. Three years in she's a sober model inmate who has exhausted the rehabilitation options available to her. After three years with no visitors, she's shocked when her lawyer arrives with a new opportunity. Her fame outside has somehow grown despite her isolation from it. Nobody knows that she has remorse for her actions and completed an addiction rehab program, nor that she still writes music. Her lawyer explains that her agent and producers had put together an alternative sentencing package that her victim agreed to. F has the chance to be moved into a private, customized prison where she will be allowed to work on music, tell the world her side of the story, and even perform concerts. Going further, she will have community service hours and regular therapy that she phased out of in regular prison though she still needs it. All she has to do is earn enough money to fund the entire operation and pay hefty restitution fees to her victim on top of what she's already paid. The amount is astronomical, but her lawyer is certain she'll earn enough to spend a good chunk of her remaining sentence in the setup. She signs the papers.

M had joined the military right out of high school. He served two tours and worked his way up the ranks quickly. It came to a halt when he received word his parents died in a car crash, leaving him custody of his teenage sister who was the sole survivor. He returned home and tried his best, but it just wasn't quite enough. He couldn't take care of his sister and stay on top of the bills from two funerals and her medical needs. An old army buddy calls him one day with a job offer to be a correctional officer for the fallen pop princess. The salary is more than enough to take care of his sister and send her to a boarding school, which she agrees would be better than living with him in their old house where neither has felt comfortable anyway. M becomes lieutenant on the team, second only to his old friend. As a lieutenant, M handles most of F's day-to-day while the captain handles administrative tasks and logistics. There are other guards on the team, but M is the one who lives in the guards' quarters of the new prison full-time. At first, he is all business. He doesn't go out of his way to make F's life harder, but he doesn't make it better either. He treats her with dignity that was lost on some of her old guards. Slowly, the two chip away at one another's shells and fall in love.

F had a charmed childhood until her father died. Her stepmother badly abused her after that, it all coming to a point when the woman has F committed to an asylum. Over a year passes and F has lost hope of ever being released. She goes through the motions day by day as expected to maintain a somewhat decent quality of life inside the madhouse, but when a certain orderly takes too much liberty she snaps. The self-defense is painted as willful violence and she is immediately taken downstairs to the basement, a place she'd never been before. She knows people who go down rarely come back up. She's pushed into a dark cell, her pleas for help on deaf ears. Just as all hope is truly lost, she hears music.

M was left orphaned and disfigured by a horrible fire as a child. He and his attractive brother grew up to inherit a decent sum, which they poured into a haphazard opera house. M's masterpieces and vision brought it to life, and his brother acted as the business manager and face of the operation. M lives in rooms beneath the opera house, where he also works on new pieces for hours at a time. He knows his place of solitude shares a subterranean wall with the asylum next door, but his music quietens what noises come from the cells. He usually pays them no mind. At least, he did until a frightened but certainly not mad voice begs him to keep playing one night.

F is a Regency-era socialite with a title and old money. She was the season's diamond. Life had been easy for her up until the day it wasn't. Her choice suitor had assured her morning would bring a ring when he took her to bed, but he failed to mention the ring would be offered to her rival. Two short months later F is found to be pregnant. Shamed, her family puts her out on the street with barely enough money to last the rest of the season. She needs work fast. Her soiled reputation and growing reminder force her to flee to the outskirts of all that's familiar under a false name. Luck seems to have turned when she finds an ad seeking a governess.

M comes from humble beginnings, but through hard work and an advantageous marriage to a noble lady from a progressive family, he now enjoys a comfortable station in life. He lost his wife long ago and is now a single father to a daughter who will one day inherit all her mother left behind. He is a good steward of it, but he is determined his daughter learn the ins and outs of management herself so she may also have the privilege of marrying for love. Finding a governess who agrees with such sentiment has proven a challenge, especially since his daughter is half-wild and stubborn. He decides to give one more governess a try and puts an ad in the paper.

F is the princess of a holistic, religious kingdom. M is the prince to an industrial country of war. The two couldn't be more opposite, but when M's country invades F's with a bloody attack, F finds herself and her people enslaved. F is maimed for life and M feels responsible. M has always thought the way to peace for both their people would be diplomacy opposed to war, and though F is broken she knows her people look to her since her parents died in the final attack. The two navigate their rocky relationship as they try to find a way forward without more bloodshed, but how can they do that when unexpected feelings stir?

M spent his life building himself up from nothing. Now one of the wealthiest men in the country, he dreams of having a family to share it with. His wife is averse to becoming a mother until she slams their car into a barrier after picking M up from a business trip. The car was totaled, M woke up with a spinal cord injury and shattered hip, and his wife's toxicity screen is off the charts. Her lawyer gets her trial delayed on compassionate grounds while M is amid several surgeries and suggests they have a child in the next year to get her a deal from the prosecution. M, naively believing his wife and wanting something good to come from the event, agrees to have a child through surrogacy.

F is no stranger to hard work, but life wasn't as kind to her as she figured it all out. When a bad breakup from a dishonest partner leaves her on the brink of homelessness, she has to figure out how to get money fast. She registers with a surrogacy clinic knowing if she's matched with a family she won't be able to say no. She gets a call the day she gets her first eviction warning. She attends the preliminary appointments, confirms she's a solid match, and finally goes in to interview with the parents. By the end of the day, the papers are signed and F has a bonus check that will be just enough to get her landlord off her back.

F gets pregnant on the first try and M is thrilled. While his wife checks in to ensure F sticks to the dozens of rules in their contract, M goes out of his way to show her his appreciation. All in all, everything goes according to plan until the three meet at the clinic for the 2nd-trimester sonogram. The three are together in a private waiting room when the police arrive. An investigation linked M's wife to larger crimes with damning evidence she can't deny.

As the two figure out what comes next, they realize certain feelings between them can't be ignored.

F is a felon convicted of art theft, forgery, laundering, and conning powerful people. She is a year into her six-year sentence when M, an FBI agent, visits her in prison with a new deal: She can move to house arrest for three weeks if she helps him with the case he's been working on for years. She accepts, gives vital information, and within days the entire operation is closed. M gets a gold star at work and permission to make F his informant. So long as she does good work, she can serve her time wearing an ankle bracelet. Naturally, M and F butt heads as they spend even more time together, but as they close case after case feelings develop into more.

F is a queen trapped in a loveless marriage. Things were alright in the beginning but after a decade of failed attempts to produce an heir, things aren't great. Her husband began divorce proceedings just before F was confirmed with another pregnancy. The bishop decrees that should this time fail, the marriage will be dissolved and F will be banished for failure to fulfill her duties. In turn, the king must take every measure to ensure F's pregnancy is successful.

M is a single father with some skills as a physician. He's spent the last fourteen years of his life living and working at a monastery, where he first came to seek treatment for his extremely ill daughter when she was an infant. It was there his wife abandoned them out of grief. His daughter, now a skilled herbalist, lost most of her hearing as a result of her illness. She's itching to strike it out on her own, but both she and M are worried about what they may entail.

The king recruits M to come be F's primary physician for the duration of her pregnancy after she's been in the care of priests through her first trimester. At first, M wants to reject the offer, but when it's pointed out to him it's also a big opportunity for his daughter he reluctantly accepts.

M and his daughter arrive to find F enduring a rather harsh sentence of bed rest at the hands of local priests while her husband openly courts new suitors. He takes over and F's situation becomes more tolerable. F stays on bed rest, but rather than 'healing sweats' and being made to stay flat on her back while priests chant around her bed, she's given actual exams and spa-like treatments to help her along. The three get to know each other quite well, and F finally lets herself hope as she reaches a stage she's never made it to before.

F improves to the point her husband even takes notice. It's at that point M and F realize how they feel for one another. They hatch a plan to escape and start over abroad before the baby's born.
