This is the villains thread. They are those characters whose motives are obviously or outright detrimental to the overall direction of the roleplay. H-Huh? W-What...? There's an overall direction to the roleplay? Yes. It's for the Player Characters to bring the Codebreaking world to a deeper sense of justice, equity, order, and law. Any character who purposefully tries to destroy this will be listed as a villain - or moved here in the case of PCs who have lost their way.

Please refer to the "Personality Map" to choose your character's personality. Personality Map Can Be Found In Spoiler -->

-Personality Map-

Major Traits

What's your character's style? Are they traditional, or a free-spirit?

  • (Traditional) Your character usually follows the rules and the "normal" way of doing things. They are conservative, hardworking, routine, stable, and diligent. They focus on doing what's expected and making sure it's done without much fuss. They prefer to follow society's standard values, standard dress, and are slower to accept new ideas. They are the ones who wait for someone to finish speaking, before they themselves start. They are usually meek and respectful.

  • (Free-Spirit) Your character is used to doing things their own way and following their own path. They don't like going with the crowd. They prefer to live by their own code. These characters are open to most everything. They like to experiment and have no problem changing to take on new environments and situations. These are the ones who'd more likely ditch and leave a conversation if something more interesting pops up.
What is your character's way of action? Are they physical, or mental?

  • (Physical) Your character experiences the world primarily through physical touch. They like to hold things, hug things, kick things, punch things; anything that lets them connect with life in tangible ways. They are very aware of their bodies and surroundings, but are liable to get irritated if they're not able to move around for too long.

  • (Mental) Your character likes to take things in through their mind. They like to plan, think, imagine, and wouldn't mind spending a whole day inside their heads. Their brain holds an entire world; sometimes bigger than the one outside. Though they may like to daydream and appear as if they're not doing anything at all, they are. You just can't see it.
What kind of resolve does your character have?

  • (Careful Your character is timid. These are the type who look before they leap. If there was a dangerous situation where someone needed help, there's a possibility this character might jump in; just don't expect them to be the first. If there's something frightening coming, follow them if you want to live to fight another day.

  • (Bold) This character is brave. They are the type who leap before they look. In a dangerous situation where someone needed help, this person might stand back for a bit, but they wouldn't be able to keep out of the action for long. If there's something frightening coming, stand behind them if there's no choice but to fight.
What type of outlook does your character have on life?

  • (Realist) This character sees things for how they really are, not how they want them to be. A realist is practical. They do not shoot for the stars, but aim low and try to do things they know can be done. They can be cynical, brutally honest, always seeking the truth, and hard to make happy because of it.

  • (Idealist) This character sees things for how they should be, not what they seem. An idealist is imaginative. They refuse to be stopped by how things are and try to create change needed by shooting for the stars. They are positive thinkers who have faith and trust that most times the goal can be reached -- you just have to try.
What level of openness does your character have?

  • (Extrovert) These characters charge up and refresh by spending time interacting with external life. They lose their pep when spending too much time alone; most specifically during introspection. This character feels better talking to or interacting with other people and things, sometimes with more than one item or person at once. That is good. The more the merrier! They are usually effervescent characters that handle the outside world extremely well.

  • (Introvert) These characters de-stress and center by spending time alone. They lose their charm when being around people or other external things for too long; especially large crowds of them. Being spoken to directly or performing an externally demanding task, drains them even faster. When exposed to too many things at once, these characters will soon likely take a break to rest and recover. Introverted typed people are usually independent, and thoughtful, reliable friends.
Lesser Traits

What's your character's demeanor?

  • (Serious) Your character doesn't like to play games. They're all business. They get straight to the point and quickly move on as soon as things are settled. Time is one thing this character does not waste without a fight.

  • (Playful) Your character loves to play games and have fun. Joking around is a must. They may never get to the point...instead sit back and enjoy the view. Who cares if they lose a minute or two? These characters don't. Come on! Lighten up!
Which way to knowledge does your character prefer?

  • (Education) Your character places a high value on education. They likely took classes and studied a lot from books themselves. Though unlikely to reach a true and complete mastery of a single topic, these kinds of people usually know a great deal about many different subjects.

  • (Experience) Your character is a child of experience. They likely went out and got what they know about a subject by actually doing it. These kinds of people aren't able to explore everything in the world, but from what they have come across, they usually have a very deep understanding of.
Is your character romantic?

  • (Yes) Your character is affectionate, comfortable with romance, and open to love. This can be as friends or as something more. This person would be the type to sit with another and pat them as they cry their problems out on their shoulder.

  • (No) Your character is oblivious to love, affection, romance, and all. This can be towards friends or anyone they see as something more. This person would rather give a tissue or direct someone to the bathroom, instead of letting them cry on their shoulder.

Bio:
An avid beatboxer and all-around hoodlum to boot, it would make sense that Doug Metro was a guy who could care less about the well-being of other people. Alas, if only this were true. Upon meeting the red-haired Codebreaker, one would be surprised that he holds a high sense of concern and respect for others in the world. Human and Codebreaker alike, Doug is one who likes to have fun messing around with and pushing people to their utmost limit (patience-wise), but never to the point where it becomes malicious or makes the other person truly upset. When dealing with others of his kind, there is a sort of attachment that can be found in the boy when it comes to others like him. Which leads right into his disdain felt for those who share the world with us, that are...not quite like him.

You see, as a young child, Doug was friendly with pretty much everybody and everything - almost to a fault one could say. Buying gifts for friends on their birthday, helping his parents with chores around the house, volunteering at church to do what other kids were too scared to do, and feeding strays on the street with scraps from his very own lunch. This continued on from when he was a child well into his teenage years until one fateful day in his backyard. After taking in a stray dog he found on the way back home from school, like usual, Doug took scraps from his midday lunch and laid it on the ground for the dog to eat. After watching the animal intently and reaching towards it to have it take a bite, the dog eventually did...of Doug. It was a pit-bull he took in and the dog had been abused by owners before him. Deathly afraid of human contact, the pit-bull lashed out at the boy, scratching his face, hands, and neck; sinking its teeth into his arms and legs in nervous fury. Doug's sister, who was just getting home from school herself, ran into the backyard and helped fight the dog off until it ran out and away down the block through the open gate.

Bloodied and on the ground, Doug's sister helped him get cleaned up, but not before she phoned mom and dad, telling them what happened to her brother. Forty-nine stitches and two weeks in the hospital later, Doug was back in action, yet a bit changed. He was still friendly with his own kind, humans, but all the good things he did for poor animals before, never returned. In fact, a certain hatred filled dog when he looked at one. It didn't matter if they were wild, domesticated, or just a pixel picture on a computer screen. He detested them. If given the option he would hit them, kill them if he could, put them through the same pain that dog put him through before. He understood why animals were animals, and unfortunately, why they should be treated as such.

Lesser Traits

Bio:
One of the more “hardened” members of PKFire, Corey is of a select few in the organization to serve hard jail time. A delinquent from early age, getting into trouble for the breaker wasn’t much of a choice. Coming from a poor family in the real world, going online only seemed to further the scope of his growing misdeeds. Increasingly tied to a lifestyle pushed into him from the outside, he continued to perfect the art of terror and larceny. In the days following the advent of his codebreaking powers, he soon caught the attention of a certain white-haired woman.

Going by the name “Ohno”, it’d be right to say that she was not impressed by his abilities. Floor 45 is a frigid place- a floor where those too poor to have their own private access to the internet live. Rarely do outsiders visit the place, let alone remember it exists, but one frigid November evening, Corey caught sight of a well-dressed woman making her way down the outskirts of the city. He’d never seen her around these parts and the brand of the clothes she wore, he could tell she was rocking some serious change. Following her down roads at a good pace, he inevitably found himself back-to-face with the lady as she stopped in front of a wall...near the mouth of an alleyway.

Figuring this was the best chance to stick her up for some cash lest she want to be killed, he neglected to stop and understand why he couldn’t see her name. You see, at this point in time, Corey was a Codereaker, but the only one that he’d seen up close. That evening, all of that changed. Within seconds, he was beaten to within an inch of his life and held up against the wall. With flames fizzling quickly from his fingers, he instead was asked whether he wanted to cough up money or die. He had none and expected for the final blow to be struck, but it never came. Instead, he found himself dropped to the floor with a business card thrown to his face. “Contact me if you want some”, were the last words he heard before the woman pushed on a brick and disappeared in a cloud.

Bio:
Not the kind of person you’d expect to fit the profile of bona-fide player-killer, Riley’s draw to joining PKFire is more ideological. Relatively well-off and accustomed to the joys of life, the man is bohemian of sorts. Living life to fullest- how one wants- is the name of the game and finds the goals of the group fall right in line with his. Not to say he condones everything every member of PKFire does (there are some seriously uncool dudes he’d like locked away), but more or less, they support the notion of freedom; the kind of which has brought him such joy. Life is a bit too regulated. People need to live a little and the Codebreaker works hard to that end.

If there was anything he regretted in life, it was his codebreaking power not manifesting sooner. The things he could have done if he knew how to manipulate his body sooner! College would have been so much fun and he was sure he’d have met the love of his life. Just kidding. There was no such thing as “the one” in his eyes and it was much more enjoyable tasting a piece of everybody he knew. Even if it ended in heartbreak as most times it did, that only added to sweeten the bevy of fruits in the cornucopia of life.

Acre is not one to fight much, but has spent many nights perfecting the use of his powers. The man seems to has little combat experience and is often seen playing with his dog, but Riley’s position within the group speaks for itself. An Edgelord+ and invited to be on the squad of Ohno’s (albeit temporarily), the breaker serves as a recognized value to PKFire organization. His natural affinity for body manipulation did not go unnoticed by the white-haired woman and attached personality did wonders to balance out the moods assembled for the Floor 10 search. Now if only cannabis were legal...he could grow some in the real world and get everybody to chill the f*ck out.

Bio:
A consummate professional, the deeds of Yugahana are the kind you’d hear about on the news...but if she’d done her job right, then you probably wouldn’t. A thirtieth-generation Chika-Sakuya, Hysteria has deep ties to the brutal underworld. The eventual discovery and manifestation of her Codebreaker powers only served to make Yugahana just as dangerous within VR as she was outside it. It was a dog-eat-dog throughout life for the Codebreaker and as sole surviving member to a family of 12, she’s known all too well what reality can do to people. Currently the breaker has racked up a body count of 85 and has shown no sign of stopping.

One of the only players Ohno has had to subdue by force, Yugahana refused to cooperate with the woman until she proved her superiority. Sakura blood ran through the Artist’s veins and it did not allow her to be ordered around without a fight. In the long and vast history of the Orient, the records show that there used to be a set of warrior tribe women called the Chika-Sakuya. An utter terror on the battlefields of the East, their power and notoriety as savage monsters eventually became too hard to ignore. Many plans were laid to get them to submit, especially as a tribe dominated by women, but war after war and trap after trap led them to become a stronger force than they came in before. So strong in fact, that there was a period in time that they were the most skilled force throughout the known world.

However, as the few men died off and their neighbours began restricting access to their own, the numbers and strength of the China-Sakuya began to fall. The leaders felt pressure from the grip year by year as warriors were killed in battle or died from old age and few born to replace them. With no other choice, they opened themselves to outside influences and chose a people to form a treaty with and intermarry for the sake of their lineage. Though the name and legends of the Chika-Sakuya disappeared, their spirits still lives on in the mixed spawn who have come down through the ages. As a down-line progeny of those China-Sakuya, Yugahana is not quite fully aware of her ancient history, but knows that since she was born, it’s been her destiny to fight for the right to be the head and not the tail.

Bio:
An unassuming figure, Dakope is affiliated with neither a group nor ideal. A breaker from Floor 1 who used to be the talk of numerous news reports, for those that knew her, the woman just seemed to be into pure chaos. However, after the rise of Edge La and her subsequent codebreaking career, Dakope faded from public view with sightings of her beginning to become far and few between. Considered a villain to all, many thought there’d soon be a clash between her and the newly-minted hero of Little City, but one never came. In fact, rumors spread that for some odd reason Dakope had an affinity for the Edge Lord and thus felt compelled not to interfere with her workings on Floor 1.

Whether there’s any truth to the rumor is up for debate, but one thing is for certain: the breaker has kept a low profile since. Many have begun to doubt she even existed, yet those that’ve witnessed her untame outbursts know she is very real. With the disappearance of Edge La, these same people believe that it’s the death knell they’ve been dreading for so long. Was the woman indeed a deterrent for the Satellizer that wrought so much damage days past? With the new sets of Codebreakers and guilds forming to bring another era of justice and peace to the world, would that be enough to drive her back if she indeed made a return?

A walk in the dark- that was what she called it. That’s what she called the path humanity was taking right now. There was always something that fascinated Dakope about the dark and all things black. As drab as it looks, there was a certain life to it. A certain spark that could be sensed when either wearing, looking at or interacting with the color. Why? It’s because in all actuality, black is the culmination of all colors; therefore it has a bit of everything the world has to offer. It is both hot and cold, selfish and altruistic...naughty and nice. And that is exactly what it means to truly be alive. To be a complete person. To live an unfettered life.

Bio:
All throughout history, down to the ages, and across parallel worlds, there have always been stories of the government doing nasty things to the citizens they’re supposed to protect. Inside the realm of Codebreaking, Jax was one of those unfortunate ones to get the short end of the stick. However, the one bit of possible of good news was that it didn’t start out that way. As various countries began to take notice of Codebreakers, in that they seemed to behave differently from the rest of the population, naturally they wanted to figure out why. So as the countries of the world partnered with one another to create the VR powering the world today, they also delved into ways that’d make it safe.

At least that’s what the official stories were. Under the pretense of keeping the world safe, there was a period of time Codebreakers framed as a possible threat to society. A threat to be taken, isolated, studied, and if at all possible: cured. Why? Simple. Anything that can’t be controlled must destroyed. Er. Rather, anything that can’t be understood must be handled with caution and extreme care. So as willing volunteers such as Jax stepped forward to be of use to the government, in exchange of course for benefits of their choice, projects like these swung into full effect and continue running till today. Suffice to say as the studies went deeper into the psyche and psychology of these Codebreakers, the results were startling.

There was absolutely nothing that made a Codebreaker different from a normal human being. No gene, no structure, no chromosome. Which meant that either everyone had the potential ability to Codebreak or it was just not possible to detect the source of deviation with the equipment they had today. Frustrated, tests became more invasive and frequent as researchers struggled to find an answer. Willing volunteers soon turned into silent captives as more subjects were “persuaded” to join the cause. With the experiments being conducted getting more and more out of hand, there were people like Jax who, once fervent supporters of the government’s efforts, had come to decide that enough was enough.

Bio:
As a single mother of 3, Cece is a Codebreaker that knew intimately what it was like to struggle. Growing up in an average home with parents that argued from time to time (yet still tolerated each other), she was a precocious young woman who always wanted to be free. Though as the child of parents who pushed hard for education, she had to put that thought of flying high into the world out of her head- at least for a while. To Cece, there was nothing wrong with getting an education or staying on staying on the straight and narrow, but at times it just got a bit boring. What was this “other side” her parents were keeping her from? What was really wrong with having a little fun?

The formative years soon passed and as a high school graduate, Cece soon found out. It was fun at first, indulging in all the little things her mom and dad would tell her not to do. Staying up late, going to the club, doing drugs and hooking up with people she had no business doing it with. Living uninhibited! What a wonder! It was pretty cool do what you wanted, exactly when you wanted. What was so wrong with that? Yet it would so happen that in due time, Cece would find out why it was not wise to throw caution to the wind.

As the late nights became more frequent, so did the number of failing courses she received. A few years later, Cece had dropped out of school to find a job. Normally a few failed courses wouldn’t deter someone from completing their education, but having a kid did...and Cece was pregnant with her first child. Completely unawares and how to cope with the impending pregnancy, Cece did not find solace with her parents, so looked to other men instead. Time after time she would be tricked into giving herself up for a seemingly stable relationship, but by the 3rd child, it dawned on the woman that this wasn’t the right way to go. She finally understood what her parents bothered her so much for. For the sake of her kids she had to do something. She refused to let them live down the same path she did. Even if it meant breaking the rules she had to do something. She had to turn her life around. And if not for her...then at least for them.

Imara.jpgUsername:
Ohno

Real Name:
Imara Tolin

Age:
40

Gender:

Female

Personality:
  • Free-Spirit
  • Mental
  • Careful
  • Realist
  • Introvert
Lesser Traits
  • Serious
  • Experience
  • Non Romantic
Bio:
Power. First there is just that, power, and then there is the power that empowers the power. Looking at it from this viewpoint, which would you say of the two is really in control? From an early age, Ohno understood this well and made it her business to be the latter. There is a certain subtly in the way she moves, in the way she approaches, the way she negotiates - it almost seems if she’s lost, but rest assured, the breaker has probably already gotten what she’d want. Born into a life of movement, Imara had always refused playing checkers in lieu of chess. Checkers was a game for simple-minded ones with virtually no thought at all- you just moved pieces to skip over that of your opponent’s. But chess, CHESS, was a grown man’s game. If you didn’t understand the concept, study the mechanics, know how the pieces moved...then you would lose. Every. Single. Time.

Ohno wasn’t a loser and this was what drove her to make a vow she would never be hoodwinked by any man. As a class whose strength it was to give it to others, she positioned herself well to build fame and rise through the ranks of even the fractured PKFire. In a display of logic-defying maneuvers, time after time she would pull together the most disparate of teammates to lead them to a goal that would not have been accomplished otherwise. In PKFire, oftentimes the most a member shared with another was their love of freedom and autonomy absolute. Yet with so many definitions of what this meant, it was continually difficult to get a real coalition working towards a common goal, however Imara always somehow seemed to do it. To others within the organization it looked as if it was magic, yet to the Explorer, it was all but a simple game of chess.

Over time, the work of the Explorer could not go ignored. The requests for sit-downs with other respected members of PKFire became more frequent and Imara was sly enough to get a reputation of her own. Known as the “boss” of floor 60 to 81, the dreams of Ohno are even larger. She wants to rule all levels of the virtual world and that plan begins with the taming of certain legendary beasts. It was just a rumor she came across while down on the lower floors, but if it turned out to be true, it’d give her power beyond her wildest dreams. And then when the virtual world was at her knees, she would move to the real and use everything she’d gathered to conquer them all. Once she had the key. Once she had the key from those monsters, then from there everything would fall. Checkmate.

Wootie
Wooty.jpg

Bio:
A mysterious little creature, “Wootie” is a character whose appearance came around the time (well generally) things reached a tipping point as aggression of monsters in the Blackland and areas surrounding Solaris, capital city of Floor 10, hit unprecedented levels. Whether the two instances are related remains to be seen, but this azure monster is as strange as they come. Though not showing up in every occasion, when Wootie does make an appearance, it is always watching, always waiting, and always taking note. But to what end? At this point, nobody knows.
