Vardadraug means "Exalted Wolf." The name comes from a terrific friend and player who played with us for years. Vardadraug is first seen in this game as a figurine in Chapter Three: Vardadraug and the Cosmic Ore.
Later in that same chapter it becomes clear that he is far more than that...

[/media] Vardadraug has been in the game for... over 13 years, I'm sure. He's a brave and noble fellow who can speak into the mind of someone he favors. Otherwise, he usually speaks as wolves do (leaving it up to folks with <em>Speak with Animals</em> or something similar) to converse with him. He follows his own ideals much the same way real-life wolves do, and like them, he is very much a social creature. For him, the woodlands come first. He has always been close to the Forest Mother (Mielikki, the Finnish Goddess of the Forest, or D&D's Ehlonna, if you're an elf). Now that she is recovering from treacherous wounds, Vardadraug is on the lookout for people who can <em>strengthen</em> the forest. It has become clear - to <em>survive </em>is no longer enough; creatures of the natural world in Sharseya must now learn to <em>succeed. </em> There is more to him than this, but... that would be telling... =) Here is yet another (really big) image of Vardadraug as his cute puppy self: </p>
