Gravitational Force

Dark Lord of Creativity
Name:

Appearance:

Vampire Clan: Daeva, Gangrel, Mekhet, Nosferatu, or Ventrue

Disciplines: List the order in which you're focused on your Clan's Disciplines. One will start out the one you're best at, but you'll have the opportunity to improve it and the others as you progress.

Weakness: Each Vampire Clan has a Weakness. We'll be going off the ones for Vampire: The Requiem 2nd edition, but if you want to do an original one instead for reasons of convenience or roleplaying that's fine as long as it's approved.

Age at Embrace: It's preferable that your character be between 19-28, although you might be able to make a case for an older one.

Background: This doesn't have to be too long but should give us an idea of your character's past. It would be a good idea to include events that motivate them and form their skillset here.

Personality: This is more about showing than telling, so you don't have to put much here if you can roleplay them to show it.

Quirks: What makes your character stand out? Nervous tics, distinguishing features, speech habits, etc.
Likes:
Dislikes:

Motivation: What does your character hope to accomplish? Find a cure for their condition, carve out their own power base, live in luxury, just survive, find adventure, or some combination of the above? What more do they want beyond that?

Skills: What is your character good at? Whether it's musical talent, mechanical skills, social maneuvering. or just being able to memorize lyrics to songs easily post it here. Keep in mind skills aren't universal and you can't be good at everything. Being able to play the cello won't help you with a clarinet (and muscle memory may work against you) and not every machine can be handled the same way.

Song: A song that fits the character. This isn't mandatory, but can be fun and helpful when figuring out how to play your character.

Name: Ava Janusson

Appearance: Ava stands at 5’5”, with green eyes and red hair that falls a bit past her shoulders when loose, slightly wavy. She has a slender, slight figure, on the soft side rather than lean or muscular. Her skin is fair, and spotted with freckles.

Image Ref (hair probably not usually THAT curly)

Vampire Clan: Daeva

Disciplines:
  1. Majesty
  2. Vigor
  3. Celerity
Weakness: Pride Vice (needs to perform the vice when there is an opportunity, not doing so will cause her to not be "on her game", so to speak, until the vice is satisfied or vindicated).

Age at Embrace: 25

Background:

Ava internalized many things when she was young: romantic love was not a worthy pursuit, revealing your wants was the height of stupidity, and the only thing she ought to focus on was a career. It wasn’t that she came from a bad home, but it was a poor one, and her parents divorced. They still loved each other, but love, as Ava learned, wasn’t enough.

She thus tried to excel, but not in extra curriculars – god knew they had no money for that. She excelled in her studies, falling into the rut of being the “smart literature girl”. But she eyed the artists jealously, who displayed their hearts in their poems, their sculptures, their songs. Initially, she found ways to criticize it – oddly enough, she had friends among them, who appreciated the criticisms, also wanting to improve, some to the point of selling out.

She went to college for psychology. She was going to be involved in helping people – people already came to her for help. Not just in art, she had an odd following who came to her for practical advice and needed epiphanies of things she thought were common sense, which apparently, were not. It always seemed to be the relationship stuff, becoming the "single one who always knows how to deal with relationship problems" -- because it always took that outsider eye to the situation, and one not so emotionally attached. She never humored people interested in her long. She had studies to pursue, and the mere thought of having to compromise about where they would live in the future was enough to make her cringe away from it. She wanted to be established before she did anything like that; to not be in a compromising position.

In college, she met Gen Eds. In college, she met Drama. In college, she came into conflict with all her closely held lessons: focus on a career – not love, and do not let your wants be known.

She loved drama. She wanted to be in drama. She enjoyed the freedom of expression when it wasn’t herself, when it was a lie, because it was cathartic. And she was good at it, to her own surprise.

Of course, suggesting she wanted to go into drama was only met with ridicule – as expected. She revealed what she wanted, and wanting was a crime that led to unhappiness. No matter how Ava looked at it, it was unlikely she would be happy this way. There would never be enough money, never good enough odds, and then she’d end up working in a department store for the rest of her life.

Better to be unhappy with money.

She shifted from psychology to finance, a decision that surprised her family, but was not unwelcome. A financial advisor could help people, and they made good money. She understood budgeting. She learned about stocks, bonds, annuities, interest, and much else – and hid her want.

She did not pursue drama openly, but she pursued it. She pursued it by going to the civic theater, as an attendee, and then as a volunteer. She pursued it by looking into historical reenactments, renaissance festivals, and that spilled into cosplay conventions. Hobbies grew from it. To partake in the cultures, she had to know them – not that she was unfamiliar with some of these, she had read plenty of Harry Potter and got caught up in Pokemon like many others, after all. She had a childhood, not an isolated bubble.

She moved to a larger city, Vorhes City, to work on her MBA, and there experienced the revelation of freedom from anyone who knew her.

She could start anew. She could reinvent herself, and her loved ones couldn’t hurt her for it, so long as she curated what they saw on social media.

Ava went through phase after phase, trying out new things – diets, exercise, fashion – and yes, she began to pursue drama more seriously, eventually landing roles in the civic theater’s productions, her first as Columbia in Rocky Horror, and more recently, Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing.

She got her MBA a month ago. The reality of needing to get a job in the field is sinking in, which feels like a tragedy she can’t explain, because every financial advisor she knows seems to work more than eight hours a day, and she feels like she’s only just started to figure out who she is, and what she wants – which is, in the infamous words of the Witcher's Yennefer: “Everything.”

To be everyone.

To have everything.

(Un)lucky for her, time in the theater has led her to meeting some interesting acquaintances to the night time shows.

Quirks:
  • Despite being involved in several parties with the acting scene and others she’s never seen with a glass of alcohol or using drugs. Tends to always stay sober.
  • If she’s wearing a necklace, odds are she will start to play with it during lulls, or when someone else is talking a lot.
  • Always has painted nails. Seems to find immense discomfort if they aren’t painted.
Likes: Money, Luxury, the Arts, Acting, Decaf, Myrrh scents, maintaining the truth/illusion of control.

Dislikes: “Poor” stigma (won’t shop at places deemed ‘poor’ no matter how good a deal it is), Too Much Routine, Being Known, Caffeine/Stimulants, Coconut Scents, Losing Control (resists drugs, alcohol, and showing too much because of this deep-seated issue).

Motivation: Rising above the condition, leaving a legacy in some way, shape, or form. To create or do something that would shake the core of society by doing something thought to be impossible. Ambition is new but Ambition is there.

Skills:
  • Drive
  • Athletics
  • Stealth
  • Academics
  • Computer
  • Investigation
  • Science
  • Empathy
  • Expression (specialty: acting/performance)
  • Intimidation
  • Persuasion

Song: Florence+The Machine, Various Storms & Saints
