It was a soft breeze. A calm before the storm, where the grass smelled fresh and trainers traveled to Saffron City for a moment of peace. Some other towns had experienced terrible things, but most happened on the roads and in the forests. And never, never, had it been a large organized hit.

On a normal weekday, the first sign was the lack of Pidgey chirping in the forests. Trainers had an easier time traveling to the bustling city. Some thought it odd, but it wasn't a sign to cause alarm. What citizens and travelers alike did not realize, was that they had fled. Anticipating what was to come.

The massive flaps of wings thundered through the skies, sending mild ripples through the earth. Within a matter of seconds, there was fire. Blazing through the streets, there were walls of flame along the thundering drums of heavy footsteps. Charizard flew through the many streets, burning down buildings whilst numerous types of Fighting-Pokémon attacked citizen and Pokémon alike.

Screams echoed through the chaos, deafening as they seemed to overpower all the other terror going on. You had to get out. You had to run. Even if you tried to save those with you- there was too much. There were too many. You ran, your life depending on it. The yells of agony began to drown amidst the crashes of crumbling buildings. It was terrible.

You had to hide. Before your mind could catch up to your feet, they had carried you to route five leading to Cerulean City. The route had thick forests surrounding the grassy path, providing the best option for your survival. The trees rustled from the sheer forces clashing in the city beside it, the ground rumbling at each impact of a falling building. Flames licked at the start of the tree line, seeking to devour the greenery in its hungry path. There was time for you to hide, but how long until you had to take to your feet again? You need a breather. Safety.

But perhaps, you were not alone...

    Running Away

It was a beautiful day without a cloud in the sky. A very excellent day to go out, indeed. In fact, the plaza which was normally noisy with the chirps of morning birds was surprisingly only filled with cheers and the noise of a town today. The noise of a town, as expected, was the sound of footsteps, chatters, and laughter of children. The cheers, on the other hand, was generated by people watching a matador show. A man in showy purple outfit jumped, pranced, and moved energetically to avoid the charge of a Tauros with a red cloak taunting the Tauros every time.

    "Ole!"

At the last moment, Armani shifted his weight to his left foot and avoided the charge of the Tauros by a hairbreadth. The red cloak in his hand fluttered against the wind as Armani used his left foot as a pivot, turning beautifully before performing a bow and flashing a smile toward the crowd. His movement flowed naturally and beautifully. His mischievous smile and dashing face only added to the charm of his wondrous execution. The crowd, consisted largely by females, answered his smile with cheers and shouts. The Tauros had long stopped its charges after seeing the red cloak no longer being flaunted about.

"Thank you, beautiful ladies and courteous gentlemen!" Armani approached the crowd and swept his gaze toward the crowd of people

"Thank you, for spending your precious time to watch the performance of this Armani Fernandez Calderon," again, he performed a bow which resulted in the dying cheers to explode once more.

A smile bloomed on Armani's face once more. He loved this attention. This fervour, excitement of being the centre of the crowd. After the clapping started to die, Armani spread his cloak over the ground. People who already used to this threw over coins, roses, anything they wished to give to Armani. The amount was definitely not enough to cover for his extravagant expense on food and luxuries, but Armani cared not for it. The praises, after all, what he came for at the first place. As if sensing his thought, the Tauros snorted. Armani found this coincidence amusing. He smiled playfully toward the Tauros.

"What is it, friend? They were cheering for you too, of course. Don't give me that look. I'll treat you to-"

The Tauros snorted louder. It gave off a loud cry before suddenly charging toward the crowd. Armani's expression changed.

"Stop, Taurean! Stay! Do not run into crowd!"

Taurean didn't hear, or probably did not care of his shouts. Despite Armani's warning, the Tauros charged away from the plaza, forcing pedestrians to jump away as he did. The number of people injured was not small.

Before Armani could chase after Taurean, a wail was heard from afar. People screamed as a Machamp broke past a building, burying several people under ruins.

The calm morning disappeared almost instantaneously. Armani pulled his cloak off the ground and the backpack with his change of clothes from a bench. He shoved his way past a family, pushing a boy and his mother down in the process, but he didn't look back to help. Debris rained upon him when a house's second floor blew up. A rock shrapnel grazed his cheek, resulting in blood flowing freely from his right cheek. The road was filled with flame, cries, and humans full of negative emotions. In the chaos, Armani kept running. Cloak now over his head and hiding his expression, as if he was oblivious to the despair around him, Armani kept running.

Where? Somewhere safe. Where was it safe?

    ...

Wrong question. Why was Armani running? Because he wanted to be anywhere but this hell of a city.

All was silent in the classroom of grade 3A. The children were busy listening intently to their teacher, a middle-aged woman dressed impeccably. One glance at her, and it was obvious why the class was so silent. She had resting bitch-face, a condition she'd suffered from ever since she went into puberty.

Her teaching was strict. Her voice somewhat high-pitched, but nonetheless confidently and sternly carrying through the classroom. But the students knew, as did their parents, that behind the evil mask upon the woman's face laid a woman that cared when it mattered. She tended to the children when they needed her and went out of her way to help them with any issues they may have encountered.

Chalk scritched across the board in quick succession as she explained to the class about some basic grammar and sentence-structure. As she put the white chalk down to write another word- the ground shook beneath their feet. The piece of chalk cracked against the board, the woman turning in her place to look upon the children.

"Children, come with. In an orderly line move to the door and we w-..."

Another shake. This time, it brought dust with from the ceiling. Some of the chairs rattled, most of the children cried and some of them screamed. The teacher slid open the door, calling for them once more to form a line and to hurry up. She would lead them to the safe-house a little further--.

As most of the children listened, forming a line albeit with tears streaming down their face, a part of the ceiling came down. The teacher's olive eyes shot to the children still in the classroom, barely missed by the chunks of building. Other teachers were pacing through the hall with their classes, the principal leading the full group as he bellowed above it all with instructions.

All she could do was make sure the children went out into the hall with the group. She looked at the last few pace quickly out the doors, only to slowly hear sobbing above the crashes surrounding her. Her focus shifted to the source, spotting one of the children sitting under their table, crying her eyes out. Without a second thought, the gradeschool teacher darted upon her pumps towards the child, scooping her up in an arm as she began to make way for the doors.

Once more, a crash. This time it was deafening. A ringing sounded throughout her ears as she saw the principal lead most of the children towards the entrance. She couldn't help but glance to one of the windows lining the hallway. Charizard were flying through the skies, other Pokémon barreling through the streets. She saw a Machamp grab a civilian and- tear his head clean off.

She felt sick. She swallowed down her fear as she shielded the child in her arms from the view of the windows, hurrying with the group. There were screams from the children in the hallway. Some had fallen, their legs caught by the rubble coming from the ceilings. The woman was torn- but just as the principal kept bellowing to the teachers, she knew they had to first lead all those able to walk out of the building. That, and she already had her hands full with a child frozen in fear.

After what felt like forever, she reached the doorway. But the chaos outside was worse than she could have ever imagined. Her hands shaking, she put the young girl down as she looked through the city. There were corpses littered across the streets, people running and screaming, Pokémon crying in agony over their lost owners. She wasn't one to cry- but she felt tears of fear and hopelessness well up.

She wasn't the only one that noticed the catastrophe. The building fully collapsed- the principal's voice drowning into a scream before no more voices were heard within. A few teachers stood outside, until one of them screamed above the chaos; "children- RUN! Run to the forests! Quick!"

It was as if all happened in slow-motion. Children scattered, crying and screaming. The teachers themselves ushers the kids along, but eventually took to a run as well. Her slanted eyes looked around the streets, shaking so hard she could feel her bones rattle. She couldn't speak. She couldn't move- it was too much. But when her eyes locked with an immense Rhydon a few dozen feet away... her self-preservation mode kicked in.

Her heels began to carry her in a speed she didn't know she had. She had been lucky to not have been hit by anything yet, but when she reached the border of town she tripped over one of her pumps. Crashing with a painful smack onto the cement, she wheezed in the sting of pain on her knees hitting the ground. There was no time to wait. Her pain level was so very low, but even that didn't matter. It only fueled her adrenaline.

Bare-foot she continued. Scrambling into the dirt-path ahead before making a swift hook into the tree-line. She got smacked by several branches, hissing as her breath turned to a panicked heaving. Only when her feet couldn't carry her anymore, she crashed behind a set of bushes, against a thick tree. Her thin form broken as she made herself small. Her knees and feet were bleeding, scrapes were across her arms legs and face- but she didn't care. She just stared ahead of her, perking her ears as she shook...

...and the tears finally came.

LOCATION: Saffron City---------------------------STATUS: Panic--------------------------INTERACTION: TBC

The morning had started like any other. Her brother ruffled her hair, in an attempt to annoy her. She punched him hard in the arm as she always did- and then he was gone.
Forever...

Tai started her morning with a few hits of a punching bag. One of the many perks of working in the cities gym was the fact she was able to get a few swings in before the day even begun. Everyone who worked within the gym knew were they would be able to find this aspiring gym leader- either in the books or up against the bag.
She was removing her gloves when the mass panic began.

It began as a low rumble and escalated into the collapse of the gym wall.
Rubble cascaded forwards- forcing Tai to dodge, skillfully, to the opposite side of the now battered training ground. A dust cloud began to emerge as an angry gust of flame began creeping its way into the building.
From behind the flames, a charizard began aggressively damaging the remainder of the room. With each breath of flame, more bricks and mortar dropped to the ground, forcing Tai to make a logical escape.

With stealth and control she snuck past the opposing beast, through the very hole it had created.
She was sweating nervously, breathing uncontrollably and was shaking to her very core- but- she managed to make her escape.
However, the destruction she now faced in Saffron City was like something from a horror movie.

Fight or flight?
Normally Tai would fight, raise her fists and cause a scene. Yet human instinct took over and caused the young woman to pace defiantly across the crumbling city.
Anguish and pain erupted from every direction around her but she kept running. People of every age were scrambling to safety.
Tai zoned herself out, looked ahead and did not stop. Not until an old couple fell in front of her after being pummelled by a rock smash attack from a Tauros. Putting on the breaks, she stopped to help.
Oh God- are you oka.....'

A deafening cry from an overhead Charizard- it must have followed her.
Making a snap decision she ran again, leaving the old couple to deal with their fate. A blast of unforgiving heat followed her as she ran.

The tree line of the city exit was up ahead. The huge flying beast above her trailed behind.
Shock kept her running forward, the screams of children forced her feet and eventually she crashed into a huge green bush- scraping her face and arm as her feet fell from under her.
Was she safe?
She had no idea.

The bar, with its hazy atmosphere, mismatched tables and stools, the single pool table with the duct taped hole on the cloth, and Molly Mae--the bartender--leaning over the bar counter to address her latest flavor of the week, was how Sam started and ended most of his days. The bar wasn't hopping with much activity during the daily hours so it offered a nice, quiet, and mundane sort of atmosphere that sat with Sam just right. Especially when there was nothing good or remotely interesting going on in his life. Like today, there had been nothing interesting on the television, he'd given up on his New Year's resolution to go to the fitness gym, and his social life was as dry as the glass tumbler that sat in front of him. Honestly, it's how he liked it... well, besides the empty glass. It's why he was still tapping his fingers over the counter without rhythm, and the more Molly Mae ignored him, the louder his fingers trotted over the processed wood of the counter.

tap-tap-tip-tap-tap

He had half a mind to go over the counter and pour his own glass, but even if he worked nights at the bar, that didn't exactly allow him such a privilege. The manager would likely birth a cow, especially since he didn't have the license to bar-tend. So instead he cleared his throat and picked up his glass, smacking the bottom against the bar top once. The sharp sound reverberated throughout he small expanse of the bar, and the few drinkers and smokers that were there along with him looked up curiously. Molly Mae turned then, eyeing him over her shoulder with pretty blues. Well, they would be pretty if she weren't glaring daggers at him. Tossing her dark hair over her shoulders, she smiled once to the fellow on the stool across from her before striding over to Sam's side of the counter. "You act like you're a dying man in the desert when it comes to alcohol, Sam, I swear."

"Only when my glass is half-empty, but..." he lifted the glass again, "it's completely empty."

"You can last two minutes with an empty glass." She grumbled audibly, jerking the glass from his hands. Molly Mae turned then, not giving him a chance to counter. Placing it on one of the mats behind the counter, she'd reached for his usual choice in whiskey in one of the bottom cabinets beneath the display case. It was right as she'd stood with bottle-in-hand when all Hell broke lose on the normality of Samuel Nicholson's day went all to shit.

One minute he had an elbow on the counter, watching the flat screen above the display case, and then the next second, he was down on his back as the roof caved in. A terrible crack resounded, shaking the floorboards as they splintered underneath whatever the hell had just landed in the bar. He pushed up on his elbows, wincing as the sudden movement sent the bar swirling like a wave. His legs shifted, but a pressure confined them to minute movement. That caught his attention first, his hands flying to his legs to make sure that he hadn't just lost his damn legs. They were there, intact and well, or so he felt. Yet a pile of debris had settled on them and he scrambled to rid himself free. It's when whatever had fallen into the bar stood up, partly obscured by a large chuck of ceiling and flickering lights.

Sam didn't see it first though as he pushed against the heavy rubble, freeing his right leg first, but Molly Mae did. She screamed, and that helped in getting his left leg free as he scrambled up to stand. An old rush of adrenaline, one he hadn't felt in ages, burned through him as he searched the damaged bar. The counter was covered in rubble, and the few customers that had been in the bar were clearing out, tripping and climbing over broken ceiling to flee from whatever it was that had made Molly Ma-fwooooom!

The wall of heat assaulted Sam and a bright, burning light caused him to cover his face with his arms. The heat burned his arms and forced him further back, back against the single pool table that was now broken in two, as a roar shook the small bar and consumed Molly Mae's scream. The sound was godawful, especially in such close proximity, but when it stopped... when it stopped...

She wasn't screaming anymore.

No, she was crying and it wasn't a cry of sorrow. His blood iced over as recognition fell over him. Sam took a step forward despite himself. His heroic days were behind him, but he couldn't leave her in a broken down bar that was now being engulfed in flames. His footstep seemed to rouse the fire-bringer for it stood taller, turning to the sound, and it peered over the large chunk of roof atop the counter. A Charizard met his gaze, is snout peeling back as in took a drawn inhale. Sam knew what would happen next, and the warning was all he needed. He turned on his heel to follow after the fleeing customers as the burning light engulfed the other side of the large rubble completely. The cry turned to screams again, almost as if she could sense him climbing out of the damaged building, leaving her.

It was painful, yes. But unless he Charizard was afraid of nicotine, he had not a single weapon to his name. At least not on him, but the idea of going to his house was completely tossed aside as soon as he saw that the bar was not the only thing that had gotten met with a wild Pokemon.

Saffron was on fire, and it was colored in both blood and fear. He watched in horror as people ran past, Pokemon chasing after them. Even witnessed a Conkeldurr pick up a manhole's covering and swat a woman with it. She flew like a rag doll, and when she finally landed against a car, she remained there. The very same Conkeldurr, with manhole covering still in its grasp, turned slowly toward him. That's when he booked it to god knows where, and damn, he had never ran so hard in his life. Yet he seemed to run even harder as soon as that damn manhole covering passed him by a mere centimeter, becoming dislodged in a wrecked school bus that had wrapped around a traffic light pole. Yes, he really booked it then, running as fast as his legs and ash-filled lungs would allow.

Sam passed it by with wide eyes as he nearly sprinted across the road and onto charred grass. Gaze flying, he spotted the treeline in the distance, and decided that any damn place was better than out in the open. That is, until he spotted the flying Charizard near it. Still, the cover of the forest would hopefully allow him to recollect himself and think. True, the forest would easily burn up under the fires of a Charizard, but he'd deal with that later because that would be easier to dodge over a fighter-type. Or at least, that's what he told himself. It helped his usual pessimism remain at bay as he ran across the expanse of terrain to the forest.

He'd only glanced over his shoulder once, happy to see that the Conkeldurr had lost interest, and once he'd come face-to-trunk with the treeline, he'd found that the Charizard's attention was somewhere beyond him. Even better. Of course, if he'd been paying attention in the first place instead of watching the fire-breather, he might have been able to miss the dead tree that met him by his feet. Sam yelped a sharp curse before falling forward, disappearing behind the treeline in the process.

•••

What a lovely day this was turning out to be. The usual cacophony of tweeting that woke her up was gone today, how lucky she was! She’d even managed to get an extra two hours of sleep and still wouldn’t be wasting her day off work. That isn’t to say Kazimir had a lot planned, she probably would just grab some food and sit around in a park to appreciate the nice weather and peace she’d been granted for another day. Pulling her journal and pencil case out of her bag was intrinsic to her now, sketching and writing about what she saw was even easier, she didn’t even think about it that much until after it was finished.

What she did think about though, was the hazy dots in the distant sky, that they were getting bigger but she couldn’t place what they were. She’d decided to leave, deeply uncomfortable from what it had potential to be, but as she started putting her belongings away in her bag that’s when all went to hell.

It must’ve been closer to the city than she’d realised. Fire broke out and the wails of people and the roaring of monsters that caused it crescendoed in Kaz’s mind as she froze. The lack of tweeting hadn’t been dumb luck, they’d known that something was coming and she should’ve too, what a fool she was. A chunk of stone flew past her head, cutting her out of her stupor as she cast her gaze onto the infuriated Primeape that had launched the chunk at her. It seemed even angrier that it’d missed and took to charging at her this time. A scream threatened to rip from her throat as she began to sprint, faster than her body should’ve permitted. That didn’t stop the Primeape however, it trampled over a little girl who’d gotten caught in the fray and Kaz didn’t even stop.

Guilt pierced into Kazimir, but she couldn’t dwell on that right now. If she died she couldn’t help anyone, her main priority had to be to save her own skin before she could try to help anyone else. So she continued to run even if her legs protested and threatened to collapse under her, eventually losing that damned Primeape who found that taking its anger out on people who got in its direct path was much more satisfying.

The streets were in ruin, nowhere was safe, stopping to even help anyone could be signing a death sentence for the vicious Pokemon that had caused all this chaos and loss of life still lurked and were murdering people as she ran half possessed to the forest line and route 5. Kazimir was almost there now, she hadn’t sustained any injuries, but had seen many sustain them in her stead. If only she could reach the forest then she could plan out her next steps, potentially help other survivors from the conflict. It was then when her running was blocked, the imposing form of a Bisharp blocking her way.

Sweat trickled down her face, dripping onto her dirtied cardigan as she faced this seemingly cruel foe, breath caught as she threatened to plan her new way of escaping. But she never got to continue that train of thought as the Bisharp lunged at her with unforeseen speed and sliced Kazimir’s arm and pain bloomed. Forget a plan, she just needed to run. Seeing her own blood on that Pokemon had made her feel sick. The feeling worsened when she glimpsed a huge beast of a Charizard flying not too far away from her.

With the last of her strength, she darted towards the tree line and into the branches she made a pathetic attempt to sway out of her face, only making them smack into it instead. That didn’t last for too long though, her legs gave up under her and she collapsed. Still hearing the screams and cries of others she’d abandoned. It all seemed like a haze, she’d passed so many and not even spared a thought to them, all she could do now was hope they made it out okay.

Lying on the forest floor wasn’t the nicest, but Kaz couldn’t find it in her for next few moments to gather her bearings and act. She just wanted a few seconds of rest before discovering whether she truly was safe. When she did move, it was only to shift her body onto her hands and knees as she vomited all onto the floor. Ah yes, what a lovely day this was turning out to be.

Guy had chosen today of all days to go out hiking, a decision that would turn out to be a blessing in disguise unbeknownst to him. He'd wandered well out of town and into the wilderness, ready to breathe in the free, clear, wilderness air. This was something he did on occasion in an effort to get his mind off the daily grind.

An aspiring Ace Trainer, he'd been making very little headway so far and his humble savings were already dwindling as, surprise, surprise, living in the "big city" didn't come cheap. Thankfully a recreational trek through the wilderness was something he could afford, and usually it was a most effective means of letting off some steam.

However something was... different about the woods that day. The Pidgy usually happily chirping and bouncing along the branches of the many trees of the forest were nowhere to be seen and the forest had been rendered quiet. Too quiet for comfort, in fact. Choosing to ignore the building knot of tension in his stomach, brought about the strange tensity present all throughout the woods, Guy pushed ever onward.

He'd noticed other things on his way down the many windings paths as well, strange shapes imprinted into the forest floor, the occasional shady figure he'd thought he'd spotted out of the corner of his eye. Yet strangely as he tried to investigate either, he came up with absolutely nothing. Ever the superstitious one, Guy's mind wandered to the, to him, obvious culprit behind all this. The forest had become infested. Infested by ghosts!

Originally, Guy had planned to camp out in the wilderness for a while. A night out in the woods seemed like a fun time. A night out in the creepy, haunted woods right outside of town on the other hand, did not. The man broke out into a near-sprint as he began making his way back into town, still a considerable ways from his point of departure, but the fear served to hasten his steps considerably.

The thought did cross his mind that he might be imagining things, but frankly, he wasn't willing to risk the chance of coming across some dark entity while out on his own. One could only imagine his surprise, as it was then that a large shadow swallowed his entire figure beneath it, as the Charizard careened through the skies and toward the city.

The coordinated attack upon the city that had only recently become his home was a shock to say the least. He wasn't entirely sure how long he'd been standing there in the middle of the trail simply baring witness to the tragedy before his mind finally caught up. Others were surely going through the very same thing and much worse, and they'd need help.

With that in mind, the aspiring trainer decides to make his way to the nearest large road people would most likely be traveling down to make their escape out of the city. The path known as Route 5.

Licks of fire continued to eat away at the divide between Saffron and Route 5. They threateningly nipped at the grass within the forest, not quite overwhelming it yet, but hoping to devour it whole when given the chance. The screams had turned to mere echoes, carried by the breeze brushing past the (un)fortunate survivors. It was unforgiving. A reminded to all of what they'd run from.

They swore they could hear footsteps. Some passed them, some stopped a little behind them. Some just kept running. Whether they were friend or foe was uncertain. But one sound did loudly cut through the thick bushes. Laughter. Audible to all within a few dozen feet, it relentlessly gave away the Matador's location. Hopefully, only to ones he would wish to be found by...

On another side of the forest, one survivor fell face-first into the dirt of the forestlands. He was lucky his skin didn't meet with twigs or branches, but his luck was to be short-lived. Another poor soul rushed as swift as her feet could take her, before collapsing. As she emptied her lunch and perhaps dinner onto the floor between her hands, the pool expanding with each heave, it suddenly stopped expanding at one location. A hand. Samuel's hand.

The road at route 5 was visually as calm as ever. But as those present on the sandy path breathed in, they would feel the dust of the fire and havoc threaten to choke them, resulting in violent coughing.
Before, the forests were somewhat calm in comparison to the catastrophe they had just escaped from.

But with the echoing laughter having carried through the tree-lines... was heard. Not only by the other poor survivors present. But by a few of the remaining Pokémon. And with the chaos present it was unlikely they were welcoming travelers vomiting all over their grass and breaking their greenery with large human legs and feet. They did not make themselves known yet, but Armani had possibly stirred something yet to come.

For a short while Malyna could do nothing but make herself small and sob into her knees. Her slender arms were curled tightly around her legs, formerly neatly bound hair now half out of its elastic and looking like a crow's nest.

Amidst the silence of the forest, she did not even respond to the laughter she heard booming through the trees. Not because of lack of caring, but because of the sheer shock pounding within her mind. She had just seen the building collapse on so many young lives- so many innocent lives. The woman disliked just about anyone, but always had had a good connection with the youth.

The youth. Her watery eyes widened as she uncurled herself, sitting more upright against the thick trunk of her hiding tree. Her little brother- no. She let out a sigh of relief. He was visiting father at Cinnabar. She wiped her hands across her lower eyelids, hoping to wipe some of her tears away. The reminder of her sibling bolstered her, causing her to lift herself to her shaking legs with help of the tree.

She hissed lowly, lifting the heel of one of her feet. Oh right. She had lost her pumps along the way. A pine cone had snugly prodded into the arch of her foot. Her olive eyes scanned the woodlands, mascara coating her cheeks in lines where her tears were. She had to press on. If she were not there for her younger brother- who would be, Father? Preposterous. Father treated him like a pet Cleffa, for Arceus' sake. The boy needed to learn how to fend for himself, especially in these times.

Especially now that the home they shared had been obliterated...

Route 5
Run
Interaction: Damsel in Distress

Armani spent a few moments calming himself down. Once his mind was no longer clouded, he realised how foolish it was to laugh in the silence of the forest. He stood up. There was no one following him as far as he knew, but Arceus knew if he attracted a Pidgeot or something worse. Yup.

Thankfully, the wound on his forehead was shallow. Blood no longer dripped from it. He stuffed his bright red cloak into his bag. No sense in being a bright red target for anyone, no? Come to think of it, he should probably change his clothes as well... but maybe that could wait. He should change his shoes for now. The one he had now was too unsuitable and expensive for forest walk.

The black shoes, unfortunately, lost their decorative ribbons. It was a shame, really. They were personally made by... Elisa? Or was it Eliza? Armani put the thought of his amorous love life out of his mind as he changed into his usual patent leather shoes. The one he wore was stored in his bag with everything else. Once he was done, he started to walk deeper into the forest.

Armani moved away diagonally from the tree he rested under. He figured that should threw any chaser off his track for a little bit. Seeing that he was without Taurean, even meeting a Rattata could kill him right now. He was without money, too. Or a home to returned to.

"Ah, how the mighty had fell," lamented Armani, sighing.

He wished he had his guitar with him. Or his wallet. Or a bottle of vintage wine. Or a beautiful maiden in her late teens who witnessed her family's death and needed a firm shoulder to cry on. Yes, disaster ought to have hopeless girls around, no? An innocent, sheltered type who had no idea what to do to survive this dangerous world-

"Hm?"

He stopped at his feet. From where he stood, behind some bushes, Armani could see the colour of cloth in the midst of forest dull colour. Clothes that spread between a pair of legs. It could only mean a skirt. Slowly, a smile raised on Armani's face.

His footsteps were intentionally louder. The rustle of bushes became clearer than before. Armani walked out of the clearing, seemingly by chance. When his eyes rested upon the woman, his eyebrows raised in surprise.

The woman, unfortunately, was the delicate maiden he wished for. Her face showed she was too old to consider a young man like him in a romantic way. Armani flashed the damsel a smile, face creased with relief and worry.

"Are you alright, my lady? Were you chased out of Saffron as well?"

LOCATION: Route 5---------------------------STATUS: Realisation--------------------------INTERACTION: TBC

The searing pain rushed up Tai's arm.
It was bleeding; but it wasn't broken at least.
Her face had a wonderful graze across it and she inadvertently had a mouth full of dirt and grass. She spat it out- the rich taste of mud still lingered on her tongue.
If that Charizard was to come back, she was going to show it her favourite finger.
As if that would make up for the damage it caused....

An ambivalent sound of laughter floated through the air and the smell of fire danced upon the breeze. However, Tai ignored that for the moment.

Tai stood up, huffing slightly as she did, as if the attack had been some kind of inconvenience rather than a terrible nightmare.
She quickly checked her arm, it looked bad. However, it was probably just superficial- she remembered the time her brother had a tumble with a scyther as a child. Now that was a 'bad' wound... but he deserved it, he was told to stop pulling at it's wings. Luckily, it didn't leave much of a scar.

Crap- was he okay?
In all the panic she had forgotten about her older brother, Zeb. Anguish filled her whole body as she paced forward and out of the bushes.
That anguish quickly channeled itself into anger and before she knew it she was aggressively punching at the air and swinging random kicks in every direction.
A mad woman, or at least that is what she probably looked like.

After ten minutes she stopped, due to the fact she had lost her breath from her erratic behaviour.
'Okay- breathe-idiot' Tai muttered out loud, without realising.

Tai looked around once more. Minus the burning city in the background, route 5 was unexpectedly beautiful.
Despite not knowing if her brother was alive and despite not understanding what the hell had really happened, this brief moment of peace was enough to make Tai realise she had to keep moving and find others.
Scouring the nearby surroundings- she decided to make her way towards the nearest clearing- hopefully it would lead to a road.

Once she’d vomited all her dinner up, she took a quick breather. Staring disgustedly at what she’d thrown up as she wiped her mouth on her hands before rubbing them in the dirt as the quickest way of cleaning them even if it made her hands muddied in the process, it was better than having sick on them she supposed. Only then did Kazimir look around at her surroundings, whilst she half hoped she’d been alone at least until she gathered her bearings, it seemed fate had some other plans for her.

A yelp escaped from her traitorous mouth when she found that there was another person near her, she thought they were dead at first in her own panic but clicked onto the fact they’d probably fled and fallen like she had too. Still, she’d been sick next to him and it’d actually met his hand. How embarrassing.

Still on the ground, Kazimir narrowed her eyes at the stranger, unsure of what she was meant to say to someone who had her vomit on them. Hey I know I kinda just threw up on you, but are you okay? She shivered at the contemplative thought and began to bite her nails nervously, grimacing when she got mud in her mouth and had to spit it out. When she finally felt calm enough, she folded her arms defensively and shuffled a bit closer to the fallen man. “Are you uh,” she paused, uncertainty tainting her voice as she fiddled nervously with the sleeve of her cardigan, “are you okay?”

Then she felt like facepalming, what a stupid question, how could anyone be okay after dealing with the nightmare that’d struck Saffron City? “I’m so sorry for being sick.” Kazimir bowed her head apologetically, her dark hair tumbling downwards as she attempted to hide her face, awkwardly brushing it away when she could deal with peeking again. “You’re not injured are you?”

Then she remembered her own pain, the slash she’d suffered on her arm. She hadn’t felt it in her shock, but now that the adrenaline had worn off she could certainly feel the pain pricking at her. She needed to bandage it up, the only option she saw was to use her own cardigan. The thought brought a pout to her face, but when it’s not like she could just waltz into Saffron and grab a few supplies. Everything was gone. Her whole life, burnt away to ashes and stained with blood. It terrified her that the thing that grounded her was stolen away from her, the worst part was she couldn’t even do anything about it.

Ripping her cream cardigan hurt her to do, but she did it, peeling away her clothes off of the wound she quickly fashioned a makeshift bandage around it. A little reassurance fell over her, at least she’d managed to do one good thing even if it was only for herself.

Waking up, nothing could've prepared Riordan for the day that would change everything. Being prepped for a wildlife survey and setting himself appropriately, he dresses in a pair of loose cargo trousers, hiking boots, a loose t-shirt and a waterproof jacket, with a pack with essentials stored. Yawning and stepping out into the day with a mind tiredly buzzing with the lecture from his mentor on what to manage out in the forest, what to look for and what to expect... none of it went the way he was told.

The sense of unease held tight in his heart from the moment he'd walked into the forest. Not a sound, not a trace, and only tracks left in place of the native Pokémon. Even the Pidgeys were gone... that should've been his first clue to get out of dodge, but he didn't listen. Then... came the explosions and smoke and screams. He couldn't imagine it, even as he bolted for the treeline to get a view on the city, not fully grasping what was happening, unable to concieve of it, even as he sees the city engulfed in flames and with the screams of innocents echoing out in horror. The redhead stares at the sight of Charizards swooping down like out of a nightmare to set more and more parts of the city alight, and the ever dwindling noise of screams. If he was optimistic, he'd think the screams dying down would be from them reaching safety... but nowhere in that city is safe now. It had all started so... normal. But nothing would ever be normal again. It couldn't, not after this.

His head pounding, body coated in a sheen of cold sweat in fear and horror, and reeling from the sight of the city, Riordan practically stumbles over himself as he heads back into the forest, rushing blindly away from the city, thinking only to find /someone/ in the middle of all this mess on a road somewhere, to find help, or survivors, who knows? All he does know for certain is that the city burns and that only the lucky will manage to get out with half a chance. If he hadn't been the one to be sent out here in the first place... he'd be in the city as well.

Despite having arrived at his destination, there was truthfully very little Guy could do to help the people who had managed to escape the destruction. That did not stop him from trying, however. Jogging and occasionally sprinting between people who had made their way to Route 5, he offered them assistance simply by trying his utmost best to shake them out of shock, and to point them in the right direction, down the path to Cerulean City.

Occasionally, he'd pause to give those most shaken by the attack a drink of water and whatever small amount of guidance and reassurance he could before sending them on their way. "Don't worry, I'll be here to point any survivors in the right direction. Promise!". As soon as he'd got done lending his assistance, he was halted by the sound of a certain booming laugh that echoed all throughout the woods, as well as his surroundings.

"That can't be good... damn it!" Cursing his own lack of usefulness, Guy set his gaze back on the source of the fire before allowing his eyes to wander in search of further survivors, as well as the source of the hideous laughter. He didn't know what he would or could do, if anything, if he were to discover it but regardless, something had to be done. Whatever that might be, he'd worry about later.

Within the forests, the flames began to devour patches off grass. Slowly climbing up the trunks of trees and carrying wafts of smoke through the air. Like on the road, the black smoke and ashes would begin to affect peoples' breathing. But further- for now, the forests were calm.

The pathway was a different matter. One lone man tried to help panicked former Saffron citizens, guiding them into the direction of Cerulean whilst risking his own health and life within the smoke. Something he would come to regret soon after.

A sudden gust of air carried across the path, sand and dirt spraying into any present peoples' faces. If one were to be able to rub their eyes and look- they would see an immense mounted Pidgeot. Claws at the ready, large wings causing sand to puff up under its form consistently. Another young man, Riordan, rushed past Guy into the forest line... just in time to feel the Gust in his back.

Screams sounded from the few people that were on the path. They took up speed, running for their lives, their yells echo-ing through the forests. The few Pokémon that remained suddenly came out of hiding and fleed. A few small Pidgey flew up from the trees they had hidden in, close to Malyna and Armani. Skittering away through the grass between Kazimir and Samuel were a Weedle, Scatterbug and some Wurmple.

Sam flipped over a tree root, and almost got intimate with a rock as he tumbled down a short slope. He face planted into the dirt with a graceless thud, sliding onto even ground. That moment definitely wasn't one of his best, and it only proved the saying that he was "definitely getting too old for this."

The ground shifted against him, and he dug his fingers into the dirt as if to anchor himself. Somewhere behind him, he heard the distant cries of both Pokemon and people. The cacophony was blood curdling. Especially when his thoughts drifted to Molly Mae, the vibrating screams and the hiss of fire bringing him back to the bar. All that experience, all that training... and he couldn't save her. Shit happens. At least, that's what he told himself as he began to check himself. He shifted lightly, wiggling his toes and brushing his knees against the forest floor. Nothing appeared broken or injured so that was a--he heard the telltale heave and the staggering footsteps before he felt and smelt the rancid remains of stomach contents.

It got him jerking up faster than a jack-in-the-box, vomit-kissed hand sweeping against the grass and dirt. He stifled a disgusted shiver as he looked up at his assailant. He was greeted with a voice that he barely registered and a pale face framed by long, black hair. She'd asked him if he was injured, and he glanced down at himself. Despite a few splotches of dirt and singed edges, his clothes were fine and dandy. His boots too--smokes. Sam's hand fished into his pockets, scrabbling for the trusty lighter and packet of cigarettes. Both of which were right where he'd left them, deep in his pockets. Sam blinked then, "I'd be better if you hadn't chucked your guts at me." Sam commented dryly as he shifted a leg underneath and out in front of him.

With a grunt, he stood and leaned down to casually dust himself off. "Not every day I get to see a roof cave in by a Charizard's ass and get greeted with an early lunch by a pretty little thing," he muttered. "Could be worse." As he grumbled to himself, he dusted off a spot of dirt on his sleeve before addressing the girl. He'd watched as she'd peeled off her cardigan, stripping the material only to wind it around her arm.

"You golden?" Sam grunted, nodding to her arm when she'd finished wrapping it. He would have said more, perhaps complimented her on her quick thinking as the cut did look fairly deep, but then a damn Wurmple skittered through his legs, followed by two others. He jumped, side-stepping as the bug Pokemon scurried past, ignoring both the young woman and him. It was mildly confusing, considering the Pokemon he'd seen in the city. So then, not all of them have gone bat shit crazy. That was a good sign, maybe. A Scatterbug passed them, hightailing it at a speed he didn't know a Scatterbug possessed. It too was followed by another Scatterbug. It scurried off just as fast, weaving in the grass between the woman and him. It drew him back, glancing over his shoulder at the treeline he'd gotten acquainted with.

A wave of fire licked its way up the trees, spitting and frothing heat and flames alike as it gradually enveloped the treeline. Thick smoke trickled into the sky and along the canopy. Sam bodily turned, taking a step back as he looked along the treeline. The fire was like a barrier, no break in the flame, it drew him another step back until he was side by side with the woman. "Well, shit." He turned back around then, "I don't know about you, but I'm getting the hell out of here."

Malyna raked her fingers through her messy hair, mind whirring with thoughts of her young brother. It took a while to convince herself he was alright. And it was mere moments later when she was shaken out of her messy thoughts.

Her eyes shot up at the sound of footsteps. Immediately her survival-instinct kicked in, looking to the tree, hoping she could hide behind it. But the steps were too close. Even sheltered she knew that. And so, she needed something to defend herself with. Her long fingers found one of the many sticks laying on the ground, clearly a weapon of mass destruction, and pointed it at a man who now approached her.

"Are you alright, my lady? Were you chased out of Saffron as well?"

The pointed end of the stick shook as it 'threateningly' aimed at him. Armani saw a skinny, rich-looking lady somewhere in her fourties. Her legs trembled, as did her makeshift weapon. Her mascara had run down her cheeks, her hair a tangled mess- she looked comical, were it not for the situation. Or perhaps to Armani she still did look comical.

"Chased out you say- I cannot be certain you're not one of /their/ trainers," her head nudged towards Saffron as she stood her ground, "Or worse, a man aiming to take advantage of a beautiful woman in cri- EEK!"

In the middle of her sentence, a few Pidgey shot up from one of the trees close-by. Immediately her weapon was held out towards the Pidgey, whom were much too far away for her to even graze them. And with the Pidgey... came an unusually large amount of sand in the air. Normally Malyna would be able to put one and one together- that this wasn't caused by the two flapping little birds... but now? Now she just watched them go, before turning to Armani again. She had yet to notice the fire crawling onto the grass. The stick began to flick in his direction again.

"Speak! Or- I will turn you into-- into-- Pidgey Kebab!"

Ah, the more he looked, the more disappointed he was. Though her legs were long, smooth, entrancing like a bashful lady walking out of a bathtub half naked, her face shattered his dream. Ah, how he wished for her eyes to be bright with innocence and fear. For not mascara but tears to run down her cheeks. Most importantly, for her face to be more pleasant and beautiful.

Armani amusedly held down a snicker at the woman's shriek. Come now, the stick was not terrifying before she screamed, and even less so after she did. Ah, he felt an urge to break into an applause for her confidence. Beautiful woman indeed. If she did not look so sour a lemon looked sweet, perhaps he could introduce her to a friend of his with necessarily lower standard.

Now, however, was not time to indulge in his amusement or her fancy.

"I will gladly help you roasting some delightful Pidgey, dear lady," Armani performed a mocking bow, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "but I think we should move further into the forest before turning into kebab ourselves with all this fire around."

He gestured toward the singed grass. He could faintly hear shouts in the distance. Whether they were from the invader or fellow refugees, he refused to meet them. They sounded too many, too noisy, and too urgent.

"Can you stand and run, dear lady, or should I support you for a walk?" He ignored the stick on the woman's hand and offered a helping hand. A smile bloomed on his face, revealing his pearl white teeth.

Staring blankly at the stranger as she let his words sink in, Kazimir flinched back looking ashamed at herself when they finally got processed. “I didn’t want to be sick.” She replied sheepishly, fingers twiddling together as she looked away, her voice lacking any traceable emotion as she shut it off. Still recovering from everything that had happened and her current embarrassment, she couldn’t help but feel terribly uncomfortable.

“You’re really lucky you got out of that,” she murmured a little absent, shifting her attention to her arm again where she double checked everything before settling her gaze back onto the man, “I suppose I could be worse, dead even.” Kazimir trailed awkwardly, an internal conflict raging in her head as she couldn’t help but blame herself for not stopping to help anyone, not even kids! It would’ve carried on if the Wurmple’s hadn’t skittered through the mans legs, making her shudder as she snapped out of her thoughts and stumbled onto her feet to be next to the man, instantly on edge again. Reaching for one of her hair ties, she quickly pulled her sable hair up into a ponytail, not exactly caring for her appearance.

“I’m not staying here either, I don’t want to be burnt to a crisp!” She replied with her deadpan voice finally cracking as panic split through. “I have no idea where I’m supposed to go, Saffron is my-“ her voice cut off she grimaced to herself, “it was my home.” Kazimir swallowed uneasily, feeling quite terrified for what was to come next and equally scared of what had happened. It was an encroaching pit of dread, threatening to swallow her whole.

She needed to breathe.

“Don’t leave me,” Kazimir pleaded desperately, cringing internally at how pathetic she was appearing, “please don’t leave me here.” Her voice was breaking now, tears she hadn’t known were there had welled up in her eyes and began to spill down her pale cheeks. Wiping them away with her dirtied hands, she sniffed and set her gaze onto the dirt. She was meant to be calm and collected, what the hell was this?

The fire crawled along the greenery in swifter succession. The smoke spreading from it turned black, trying to find its way into the survivors' throats.

On the road, the Pidgeot kept itself in the air by its impressive wings, sending minor waves through. It shook its head feathers- a sign that it was preparing to attack. People hurried their pace even more as screams could be heard from Saffron once again.

And then- it was obvious. They had to run- run to Cerulean. It was the only other option aside from going back to Saffron. Though perhaps, one of them did have a death wish...

(I apologize for a short DM post, but currently it's more trainer driven than event driven! But not to worry! As soon as we exit Route 5, an event will occur! )

With quick succession, Tai made haste towards the nearest clearing. Within the distance, fire still spurted across the city. However, the extra addition of black smog flooded the sky, as if it were a newly evolved Weezing.
Saffron had never been her true home but it was immensely sad to see it burning from the inside out.
The intensity of the heat was so strong, Tai could still feel it smothering her face and singeing her eyes ...and the smell... the smell was putrid and flesh ridden. She stood just out of reach of the clearing and felt tears stroll down her cheeks.

Despite the distraction of the fire and salty tears, the pain in Tai's arm finally caught up to her. The blood had soaked through into her linin shirt- why on earth hadn't she stopped to apply pressure.
Clearly the shock had a much bigger impact on her than she initially realised.
Dropping to the floor, Tai removed her shirt, revealing a small green tank top. The blood had began to clot but not as much as she would have hoped.
As tightly as she could, she wrapped her shirt around her arm and tied it in place.

Now it was time to move on.

If she could get to route 5 and off to Cerulean- then maybe she would be okay.
Maybe she would be able to find other survivors.
She stumbled out of the clearing into the open, her legs felt like lead.
Looking around it was still rather peaceful- but the thick black smoke had made its way to route 5, looking to mercilessly destroy its victims.
A few random Pokémon ran amongst the remaining trees- rattata mostly. However, they paid no attention to the dizzy red head that was now scrambling towards route 5.

Tai had never wished for company more.

Guy was, and had been in a while now, in a daze of sorts. He was aware of his surroundings, what was happening, the people running, yet at the same time it was almost as if it all wasn't registering, or perhaps simply not sinking in.

Even as the powerful gust of wind blew him back and knocked him flat on his ass, he felt distant to it all somehow. He'd managed to catch himself with his hands, well one of them anyway. He felt a strange, slick heat covering the inside of his palm and upon investigation, sure enough, he was bleeding.

Granted, he was nowhere near as injured as some of the others present and fleeing. It did however serve to renew the sense of gravity attached to the situation, confirming that what was happening was indeed not a nightmare but all too real. The man's gaze began to dart around the area, and in the treeline he spotted a certain red head, stumbling forward.

He had a strange feeling that should the woman even manage to make her way to her destination on the Route, she would be easy pickings for the Pidgeot. She and whoever else might be trying to stumble away from the chaos. He certainly couldn't hope to help all the wounded to safety. One, maybe even two... but what of the remaining wounded survivors?

They'd need time to make their escape, some kind of distraction. He had an idea and he wasn't sure if it would work, but for now it seemed the best possible solution for everyone else involved. Guy's fingers wrapped around a fairly large rock, a sharp one, the very same he'd cut his hand on moments earlier in fact, as he pushed himself up to a stand.

As the Pidgeot continued to hover and loom above the area, preparing its attack, Guy paid particular attention to the rhythm it was flapping its wings to. Then after spotting the window of opportunity where the wind was least likely to alter the rock's trajectory, he reeled back and threw it at the oversized avian in hopes of catching the attention of it, or its rider!

Armani was a lucky man indeed. Malyna could not read one's mind, otherwise her nails would have dug into the man's head at the mention of her beauty being anything below blinding! But despite no claws being used, the stick continued to be waved in his direction, her arm trembling ever so slightly at the whole situation.

"I will gladly help you roasting some delightful Pidgey, dear lady, but I think we should move further into the forest before turning into kebab ourselves with all this fire around."

The woman's already permanent bitch-face turned even more sour, ready to insult him for his theatrical manners and clear mockery of her threat. She'd show him how much weight she put behind her threats- but then her eyes found licking flames across the grass. Immediately, everything once more rushed through her head. The children, the screams- out of sheer trauma she smacked the man's hand away, or at least, she attempted to do so.

Then she pushed herself up. One palm resting on the thick bark of the tree beside her, the stick still in her other hand. It was the only weapon she had against this.. this.. creature. She gave a grouchy glance toward Armani.

"I don't need your support, you Crawdaunt," she spouted, looking over the man's flamboyant attire. And kind as she was, she didn't even say a word to the man before hopping to a slight run toward Cerulean. Barefoot as she were, she had to be careful. But even spoiled she, knew the danger of fire was far greater than harming the sensitive soles of her feet.

The large Pidgeot let out an echoing kakaaw! The dust and sand brushed up around it, unaware of a sharp sizable rock thrown its way. It kept itself in the air, as an inaudible command was heard from the back of it. But whatever was planned did not happen. A sharp sizeable rock smacked right into one of the Pidgeot's wing-arms. It shrieked, flapping one wing quicker than the other, losing its balance before crashing into the floor- its disoriented rider on top of him! Unfortunately it wouldn't be the only thing crashing to the floor.

Poor Tai rushed through the tree-line out onto the sand-path. The smoke surrounded her, her vision not quite as she would like it. And it was likely due to the smoke, that the redhead smacked headfirst into another human being. She could hear a shriek to her left from a large Pokémon, and felt her hands atop someone's warm chest, the only thing between her and the hard ground!

The smoke in the air was suffocating and dense.
It caused Tai to wander aimlessly in any viable direction.
The once clear route 5, was now some weird concoction of brick dust, ash and human remains.
Her lungs screamed for a breath of clean air, which the atmosphere rejected as it pumped more putrid smog across the surrounding land.
Occasionally, she tripped over heavy mounds of what felt like grass, but each was a small poisoned Pokemon struggling to its own safety.

Above, a flying Pokemon soared, atop it sat a trainer. However, Tai was oblivious to this as she clumsily made her way through the thickening fog, without even realising that her saviour (Guy) was assisting her in her journey.
He made a lucky shot into the overhead carnivore- that had clearly been stalking Tai for a while.

Sand scrunched beneath her boots, and she began to pick up her speed. Wherever she was now, she was entirely committed to the path she had taken. Her own arrogance had clearly gotten the better of her as her feet sped in front of her.

Crash...
A large thump beckoned to the left her, knocking her own balance slightly. Whatever Pokemon had fallen from the sky, let out a blood curdling cry of pain and dismay. It's bones audibly shattered within Tai's eardrums.
The sound added to the confusion as Tai stormed forward and into another person. The sheer force of the crash ended in the pair tumbling to the ground.

The pair landed atop of the sanded track, Tai was cushioned and could feel the panicked heartbeat of the unknown trainer beneath her.
