Designation: DSCSU D-671 MK III V. 5.3

Status: Error

Location: Anomaly Gold HQ

Time: 16 Minutes after Gold Event

Current Objective: Process Information

Findings:

The support drone carefully eyed the humanoid woman as she approached the feathered beast of a creature. It was mere minutes ago that 671 had his weapon trained on her and she proved to be a reasonable voice in a mass of confusion. Delta did not trust her whatsoever nor anything else in the vicinity but even basic rationality was a rare resource as the last 16 minutes had demonstrated.

Nine did not want to approach the beast. There was nothing but unknown variables and danger that surrounded it but while it was subdued, it would be a good opportunity to get a bio-scan for his personal research later on. It would also be helpful to understand how this creature functioned biologically if it was going to be a participant in the mission going forward. Understanding the biology of every creature in his fireteam was the first step of increasing their odds of success.

A muted whirring kicked to life as his ocular lenses zeroed in on the restrained semi-avian beast and Delta had to marvel once again at how little this transformation made sense. The creature was humanoid and then it was not. Mere seconds was all it took to turn from something conceivable to the complete opposite.

Quietly, the combat medic stepped in behind the humanoid woman once she was crouched down and speaking to the... thing. She outwardly mused that she wasn't sure it could understand her words and that echoed D's own thoughts on the matter. It was then that the apparent female human voiced a potential resolution to the massive creature's plight.

It was a shaky solution based on a shakier foundation with an even shakier implementation method. If Delta had eyebrows, they would be raised underneath his helmet. This humanoid woman was willing to risk a limb on the HOPE that the creature not only understood but also cared enough to follow instruction after the show of ferocity it just demonstrated. A show that a diety warranted it necessary to shut down themselves.

Still, the logical solution his programming reached was that it would be preferable to have the Avian on his side. What little it spoke suggested it did have a somewhat primitive understanding of language and was capable of reasoning. Albeit, very simple and almost infantile, but reasoning nonetheless.

With muted footfalls, the cyborg rounded the needlessly altruistic female humanoid and stretched his left hand out to the flightless monster, keeping his trigger arm ready. He was careful to not step too close to the blue-gray skinned, horned female humanoid just a few feet away. Another needlessly altruistic person. Often tended to be the most illogical when it came to matters of efficiency and the cold calculus of war. A "bleeding heart" as the colonists called them.

An appropriate term as that is how those types of organics always ended up. With their hearts uselessly pumping blood and plasma into the dead Earth's soil. Their only use as fodder and feed for the remaining colonists and bio-reactors.

"Initiating Bio-Scan." D-671's deep warble of a voice rang out with all the authority of a fireteam leader.

The soft, light blue glow enveloped the massive creature in its light, followed by the same grid pattern sluggishly running vertically along the quadraped's form.

'Uhhh....'

What in Gaia's name were they looking at?

Nothing made sense. No, it was worse than nothing making sense. It was as if sense had sent itself into the uncaring maw of the void and was replaced by its severely unqualified brother, sonse.

If it wasn't for the fact that Ana had already done 26 system scans for errors, Six would swear that this was it. He had become fully Rampant. He was now a husk of a proud UWC combat unit and was doomed to wander in a mindless stupor of hatred, fury, and hunger.

But he wasn't. His systems were still fully functional save the odd erroneous software flicker of his age.

The synth's auxiliary lights sputtered between a dull yellow and cool blue. His confusion evident in the light's flickering tango. This.... calling it a "creature" would be objectively incorrect. This... being... this thing was further away from organic than even he or the loader unit several feet away were.

Again, Delta was faced with a physical impossibility. It did not work. It COULD not work.

And yet...

The being 671 scanned could not be described as a living thing. It was an amalgamation. A shapeless, formless enigma of pure energy encased with a fleshy shell. It lacked organs. It lacked a skeletal structure. It barely had a muscular structure despite its massive appearance. Delta could not even begin to identify the mass of anomalous power contained within the "skin" that was the hulking form of the being.

What he could identify was that the mass of energy was not from a solitary source. As previously stated, the word "Amalgamation" was best suited to describe it. It was a tangled, cacophony of nigh immeasurable amounts of different types of energy. The energies clashed and writhed with rampant and reckless abandon against one another. A never-ending cyclone of furious light consuming itself within its organic prison.

But therein lied the theoretical answer to the thing's hunger problem.

Every millisecond that ticked by, the energies became more unstable and chaotic. It happened so quickly that it seemed to be keeping pace with Delta and Ana's vastly faster perception of time. It was happening at a rapid pace even for them. The only thing that was keeping this monstrous fusion of energies from collapsing in on itself was the newest energy that Delta could detect. A source of energy he had already seen once before.

It needed to have more matter and energy sacrificed to it to keep it from collapsing and potentially causing a fallout that would end all life on a planet.

The scale of it was different but D couldn't stop the pang of familiarity that stirred within the back of his mind as he began to understand the nature of this mass of energy given physical form. It was a ceaseless hunger. A cursed existence whose only recourse to stave off the inevitable was to destroy everything in its path. But it would only delay the end. Postpone it.

Whatever created the creature damned it to a horrid end with an even more accursed journey to that end. It was cruel. Selfish. Arrogant. The ones that created it needed to be eradicated. They needed to suffer. Vengeance would only be realized if their cruelty was returned to them a hundred fold. Only then would the rage b-

'Operator!! Respond!'

The blue glow of the bio-scan was abruptly cut off as the user returned to reality. The lights on his body were a deep crimson and had been for roughly ten seconds before quickly returning to blue.

'Oper- ... Delta, your neurological activity was through the roof. It was more than the combat stimulants and emotional inhibitors were capable of tempering.'

'It was only a moment, Ana. I'll be okay.'

'Delta, they're getting longer and harder to control.'

'Affirmative. My time is limited. We will have to complete this final mission before then.'

The cyborg's hand then returned to its firearm. It simultaneously cast a look down to the humanoid female who had offered her help, "You're initial treatment theory has been confirmed to be the correct method. The being requires a moderate to significant amount energy or material to stabilize its core. I will assist."

As if nothing had happened seconds before, the combat support unit knelt down besides the humanoid female and activated his GAIA module. A bright flickering beam of light emitted from the droid, materializing the best and simplest high quality material that he had ample supply of. Five high carbon steel ingots were digitally beamed into existence on the floor. It was what Delta used to repair breaches in his armor when it was deemed necessary.

The unit then slid it a little closer to the humanoid female who had offered her anomalous energy to the creature initially. It then stood and took several steps away from them and merely observed their actions in silence.

At first Dana barely paid any mind to what the cyborg was saying as she was far too engrossed in examining the inside of the creature's mouth. There being rows of teeth everywhere didn't phase her, but there being just as many feathers on the inside of the mouth was surprising to say the least and the fact that the throat was glowing after just a short distance was concerning. The glow most certainly didn't appear natural and gave the princess the distinct feeling that she should keep her flesh and gear away the hell from it.

It wasn't until she heard D slide the ignots closer did she finally glance down at them, momentarily confused what they were for until what was said earlier finally registered in her brain. Giving the machine lifeform a quick nod, she then turned her attention back to the matter at hand. "Alright, mana first, then if you behave we can follow up with the metal chunks sitting here next to me." Manually pulling her shield from her back, Dana then wedged it between the feathered creature's outermost teeth. She had no idea if it would be able to stop Manu from biting down if they wanted to, but if it could slow it down even a tiny bit, that might be all she needed to extract her in one piece. A deep breath betrayed her reluctance at doing this task, but despite her concerns about what may happen she wasted no time sticking her arm in up almost to the elbow.

With some concentration she started to release mana from her hand into Manu's mouth, careful to control how much came out at once. She had no idea if releasing it too quickly would be harmful to the beast, but it certainly would be bad for her, so it was imperative that the swordswoman regulated how much came out at once. Unfortunately this meant that with as much mana as she had that she would be stuck doing this for several minutes, during which all her attention would be taken up by the flow of mana and watching for signs of danger from Manu.

Madness, all Madness gregors mind was raceing with new possibilities. False angle? Need blood samples. Could make powerful potions... salves... angles are associated with death. Push beyond death?

Gregor laughed historically now being mixed with hisses of joy "this is true madness. I can thrive" he looked over at the women sticking her arm in the creatures mouth.

"Here I thought I was thr stupid one. Only fools rush to aid without thought. If the creature is hungry. Prepare it food. It's something I can do, just need time. I was the one to make that snack for it."

His toothy grin was far to eager to get experimenting. See what this thing feeds on. How much can it take. What can he feed it? Souls?

Arman of Ayer

The young knight takes in a deep breath, merely nodding meekly. So it wasn't just himself that was at stake, but all worlds... including his own. What a pickle he found himself in. Well, he supposed there was nothing for it but to... Cooperate. He couldn't do anything *else*, in the end, it seemed. And as for the strange, extremely hungry cannibal-creature... He was no scholar. He had no idea what to do in that regard, and he hoped the others could do something about it. Asking his Ancestor for a solution would probably result in some.... unpleasant instructions he'd really not rather follow through with.

The False AngelThe False Angel growled at Revna’s approach, a defensive response more than one based on malice. The pain and hunger was distracting it from the words Revna was speaking, but its attention was refocused when it sensed the gem nearby. Feathers brushed the ground as the beast adjusted its head towards the magic-infused gem. The growls quieted down near instantly.

Teeth flashed from between white feathers as the creature chomped down on the gem fragment. It disappeared without a trace, leaving behind only a soft rumble in The False Angel’s chest out of delight. Although it did not have eyes, the creature tilted its head towards Revna, as if to check if she was carrying any additional items.

Without thinking, it tried to shuffle closer only to be reminded of its divine bindings by another flash of constricting pain. It hissed and laid its serpentine head back on the floor, mouth slightly agape as if it were a dog panting. This was in fact not to breathe, but to help it taste the air for possible food.

As it would turn out, food was being brought to it. The creature recognized Dana as one of the first people it had seen in this world, and reminded the beast of how the tall-metal-human had stopped it from eating the strange vegetable. It raised its head at the mention of mana, one of the few movements that did not trigger the golden bindings.

FoOd…” it rumbled in a distorted voice.

It seemed to consider Dana’s words, which reminded it of a similar encounter it had when first meeting Quin. The terms were very easy to understand; if you bite the hand that feeds you, it will stop feeding. That meant less food than the hand would provide. To sweeten the deal, the smaller-magic-construct created a few metal ingots on the ground. The False Angel sniffed the air in its direction and rumbled lightly in curiosity.

To show it agreed, the beast moved its feathered head towards Dana and opened its mouth. It was like wings unfurling, or a coiled bud of a flower blooming outwards, except in place of petals there were rows of teeth and feathers. A harsh glow could be seen pouring out from the throat, like the light given off by distant lava in a dark tunnel. Dana wasn’t the first to see it, but she would likely be one of the few who didn’t have it as their last sight.

Dana put something in between its fangs, which the beast was confused about but didn’t chew because of the ‘no biting’ rule. It smelled like food, but the beast refrained from eating it. Afterall, if they didn’t bite then maybe Dana would let them eat the shield too. When Dana bravely stuck her hand into the beast’s maw and began to release the promised mana, the creature was for the most part well behaved.

After a few moments the beast opened its jaws wider, its ‘neck’ splitting open as an extension of the mouth until it was big enough to eat Dana whole. The shield fell to the ground in a clatter, but the beast’s maw did not close. It appeared to be a reflex or an instinct, one that the beast was holding back.

The mana was consumed at an alarming rate, which Dana could likely feel the tug of it being absorbed just as readily as it was being released. It would quickly become clear that Dana would need to control it, lest her mana be greedily consumed by the gravity of The False Angel’s magic.

When it was finished, the beast’s jaws stayed open for Dana to remove her arm. Without even moving its mouth, the beast mimicked Dana’s words. “-metal chunks.”

It then waited patiently.

For the first few moments things went about as Dana expected, but then the False Angel's power started forcibly pulling the mana from her body, increasing the strain of its flow on her body. It was a familar sensation, once that she had experienced many times when she first tried using her abilities on her own, over a decade before she had gotten her treatment. Gritting her teeth against the sudden pain that started to grow in her body, primarily her arm, the swordswoman throttled down the flow of mana as much as she could. Even then it was still at a rate higher than planned, but at least the pain she was experiencing was reduced to a far more tolerable level. On the plus side, the process finished somewhat sooner than expected and the moment she felt the expected empty feeling of being out of mana Dana quickly pulled her arm away from Manu's open maw.

With a brief moment of concentration and speaking the word "Res", a purplish burst of psionic energy washed over her body and the half-Palman immediately felt the pain go away as the minor harm she had suffered was healed. Giving the Laconian Shield a glance, a mental command had its magi-tech flying it to her back where it secured itself even as she started tossing the metal chunks into the beast's mouth. Once the last one was in she stepped back, quietly thinking to herself that this was not an experience she would want to repeat if it could be helped. And to avoid that, they needed to get somewhere that actually had food.

"So now that is done, when are we heading out? Soon I'm guessing?" Dana gave Aucttem and her supposed son a glance as she spoke since they were the ones in charge of them being able to leave. She hoped they would be sent to somewhere peaceful to start with, she wanted the group to have a chance to do introductions and start figuring out how they were going to work together.

Revna felt guilty as Manu was growling in pain. What kind of God hurted people after asking them a favor?

The half-blood was lost in her thought as she watches Manu eating the gen she gave her. If she wanted to go home, helping Auttem was her only way even is she doesn't respect them.

She comes back to her sens when the purple haired girl approched them.

Revna watches her as she nods to her. She blinks bluntly before scooping over and giving her space.

The half-blood still stay close to observe the exchange between Manu and Dana. This type of magic was totally different from the one from her world.

The "metal chunks" that was close to them seemed also different. Something that Revna have never seen before.

When Dana is done, the purple haired girl can feel a strong and yet delicate hand on her shoulder with claws.

"Thank you." Revna speaks softly and nods to her.

She returns close to Manu and make sure the creature is feeling better.
