The United Galaxy
Founded one thousand years ago after the Great War nearly tore the Galaxy apart. The UG was founded as a way for all galactic governments to keep each other in check from the super powered governments to the smaller ones. For a time it worked, but as the centuries past the UG became more and more corrupt. Now they unofficially control the Galaxy. The UG council dictates what taxes go where, The products each government can create and distribute.
Even war has been regulated. Whenever a government wants to invade another system for either resources or just to go to a higher tier they have to first get the approval of the UG.

The Great War

One hundred years before the formation of the United Galaxy. The galaxy was at a boiling point . Conflicts between Nations kept happening until someone fired the first shot. No one knows who started it but alliances were formed and the galaxy burned. Over the course of the war over sextillion lives were lost, planets burned and races went extinct. Technology devolved to where it was centuries prior. Even history was forgotten.
By the end of the war the five remaining super powers of the galaxy created the United Galaxy so that The War would never happen again.

The Alliance

(For anyone wanting to play a human)

To say humanity's history in the wider galaxy was written in blood would be an understatement. Ever since their first encounter with alien life humanity has been in one conflict after another fighting for survival. They had to learn to adapt and make allies. They had been beaten time and time again betrayed and nearly going extinct. But they are too stubborn to die

Some 1325 years ago Earth was destroyed in a massive solar event that obliterated Mercury and venus in the process. Atleast that is what history recorded

The remnants of humanity founded 3 colonies. Tera prime, Arcadia, and Avalon. They unified under the banor of the Human Alliance. Over the years after more bloodshed and other races that joined they became simply known as The Alliance. Now they are in control of seventy five systems and forty habitable planets.

Sentinels

Back when the first A sector government was being formed some fourteen hundred years ago. A group of twelve people wanted to do more to protect people. To cut threw the red tape of politics and government oversight. These people became known as Knights.

Over the years they have been labeled as saviors and terrorists Heros and Villians depending on the place. They have nearly been wiped out repeatedly but they always came back that was until the Great War

During the Great War a militant group lead by wicked Bethel Morriland launch a coup. What fallowed tore the Knights apart. It's savior Cerian the brave slayed her and rebuilt the Knight's as the Setari. He pledged the Setari's alligence to the United Galaxy becoming their Offensive deterrent.
Atleast that's how history wrote it.

A thousand and twenty two years later.
During one misson to eradicate the remaing ancient bases of the Witch and what history there might be. A young Setari by the code name of Specter stumbled onto a few holo tapes by Bethel. What he saw opened his eyes and made him realize the ugly truth of those he serves. He turned against the Setari becoming the Galaxy's most wanted man.

He founded the Sentinels fallowing Bethels teachings. Now they act as a check for the United Galaxy. Intervening when they are needed and just helping the galaxy at large.

The Inner Circle
There are seven that make up the Sentinel Leadership. It is said that each of them could single handedly take out complete squads of enemies. As they don't want their families to be endanger they remain anonymous wearing full suits of armor leaving nothing exposed not even their race or sex is noticeable. Each also use code names which are Specter, Wraith, Oni, Hadress, Kori, Fomorie, and Charon.

Hunter Guilds
Since the dawn of time there have been those that commit crimes and the hunters that go after them. That hasn't changed.

With the vast space of the galaxy the governments aren't able to successfully capture every criminal. And those that escape end up in areas the governments can't reach due to no extradition laws.

This has lead to the Hunter Guilds being created. These Guilds would go threw the galaxy and either capture or kill their target. Upon confirmation the hunter gets their bounty after giving a percentage to their guild. There are numerous Guilds across the galaxy

For criminals with multiple bounties the hunter is able to collect every bounty if they terminate the criminal. Otherwise they only get the bounty from the government they turn them into. This has resulted in more terminations and hunters being looked down upon being called assassins for hire.
