A group of unicorns is called a Blessing. If you call them a herd, you should question yourself as to whether you really saw unicorns, or just a bunch of goats.
This RP is going to take a very unusual spin on the unicorn myth. I began with the origins of unicorn mythology and came to a conclusion on where the species originated as well as how it has since evolved. None of the current unicorns have any clue as to this mysterious past. But over the centuries, the further they have traveled from their origins, the weaker their powers have become. Mythology says they could grant wishes, cure anything, purify anything, were almost godlike in their physical natures. Not so anymore. (Historically the myths came from Persia. Some would argue China. I am going with neither.)

But let’s get to the premise of this story. In our story a blessing of unicorns was being hunted and slaughtered for their horns. Try as they might they couldn’t escape the hunters - that is until a group of adventurers intervened. They helped the unicorns escape to settle in a new land, a place called Parrot Creek Ranch, MT plus a smaller property Bull Mountain Ranch, MT. (The group is more than welcome to rename it!!! I picked it for the natural setting.) The adventurers have chosen to accompany the unicorns.
As part of their escape, the adventurers bargained for the ability for the unicorns to assume a human form. The unicorns can only remain in human form for a limited period. (See Auspices.) They can always resume their unicorn form when they wish unless somehow trapped.
There are two residential buildings (not counting the barn, pastures and forests). One is a very nice 3,600 square foot three-story log home/lodge that has five bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as a full built-in bar. The other is a manager’s house that is six beds and three-and-a-half baths in 3,360 square feet. Both homes have been very well taken care of and again, pride of prior ownership is evident as the ranch and buildings were exceptionally clean and well kept. With the ranch comes about 1000 head of yearling cattle. Good luck with that.
The smaller ranch has a 2 bedroom house and is not as developed.

In mythology unicorns could perform all manners of miracles. These days their powers have dwindled and most unicorns have only an ability or two and with considerable limitations. See Auspices to know where your gifts will lay.

Unicorns are vegetarians. Human or Unicorn, trying to be omnivorous will just make you violently ill. But kudos for trying.
Unicorns are immune to toxins. This includes drugs, etc.
Smoking is bad for unicorns too. The smoke stinks, triggers instincts associated with forest fires, and has absolutely no benefits. Fresh tobacco tastes fine though. (Mmm chomp, chomp.
Apples and pomegranates are gifts from the gods. Brown sugar is divine.
Dirt, grease, dyes, etc will not stick to a unicorn. Dyed hair will return to normal over a course of three days or automatically when they revert to unicorn form.
A unicorn must revert to unicorn form on the day of their Auspice, the days before and after (three days) under the light of the moon or its absence in the case of the Ragabash.
Biologically a unicorn in human form will pass tests for being a human.
Characters
You may be either Unicorn or a local human. (The adventurers will be run by myself, mostly a background role. I plan to run local humans as a Main Characters, an Estate Manager, plus maybe another.)
Local humans might include cowboys to handle the cattle, fish and game wardens who help regulate hunting on your lands. Be very, VERY careful what humans you tell about your true nature.
