The Shape-shifting Master of Goatees and Darkness
"In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity" - Sun Tzu

LORE POST
Labissiere Academy is tucked into the forest covered hills of the Metropolitan area of Rome, Georgia. The campus is hidden in the trees at the foot of the Appalachian mountains. It was voted the prettiest High School campus in the nation, and though that is a subjective thought, between the school's architecture, the layout including a river running through the center of campus, and the mountains itself....it was hard to argue with the award.

Adrian invested 1.3 Billion of his own resources, and with the other investors that pool grew to 6.7 Billion. There was another 400 million kicked in from the taxpayers, but that was directed at infrastructure of Rome considering that there would be a lot of construction workers traveling to and from the school's campus. The trade-off being that there was now a boom in jobs for the small city.

It took two years to get approvals, build, landscape, hire teachers, and get together curriculum. The result was one of the most beautiful schools, high school or otherwise, in the nation.

The large campus is divided in 4 general quadrants. In the Northwest area was the general student residential section buried at the base of the mountains. It included the dorms, a couple of student staffed businesses (shops, restaurants, cafes), a large fitness and wellness center, intramural fields/courts, and a 'park'. In the Northeast was the sports complex, which included a state of the art multi-use stadium that held 85,000 people (and is sometimes used for other events), a multi-use arena, an indoor and outdoor track and field area, an aquatic sports complex, and a baseball and softball field. The south-east quadrant housed staff housing for those who lived on campus along with many of the performing arts studios. Finally in the southwest was the academic buildings.

The quads sat in the center of these quadrants and was set up more like a park. The river flowed through the center of the campus (going from southwest to northeast and through the quads). Security was pretty tight around the area during the school year. There was a wall that surrounded the school that was near impossible for the average person to get over. Interesting enough the wall ended near the base of the mountains, perhaps because the mountains provided a natural barrier.

The dorms were also an interesting case. In one section was general residency, separated between upperclassmen (Juniors + -must be at least 16 by start of school year) and underclassmen (Sophomore and under). The upperclassmen dorms are set up more as apartments, each one containing four bedrooms, their own bathroom, a common area, and a full kitchen. It is co-ed, but each floor is all male, or all female. The underclassmen dorms are a little less spiffy. There are four bedrooms (smaller than the upperclassmen dorms) one shared bathroom, a very small common area, and a community kitchen on each floor. The buildings are also separated as all male, or all female.

Then there was the athlete's dorms and team sports were roomed together, while the more individual sports were randomly grouped together. It is mandatory a student-athlete stay in these dorms to be eligible to participate in their sport. The athlete's dorms are similar to upperclassmen dorms, except the floors are co-ed (the rooms are still all male or all female). The athlete's also had a personal chef and nutritionist available 24/7 and a small cafe area. The athletes are also afforded a recovery center with a licensed masseuse.

The final dorms are affectionately known as 'The Hills' both because they sit in the mountains and also because they're extremely lavish. This houses the rich kids who are not athletes. Their amenities are more akin to a five star hotel and each room is like a personal open loft. It's a large open room with a bathroom, a kitchen, and a balcony. There is a staff on hand that will bring towels, soaps, food, or anything else you'd find available at a hotel. The price tag to stay is so hefty, that it usually covers the operation cost for the dorms along with the salaries of the school's faculty.

Each dorm has a senior as residential advisor and in 'The Hills' the RA is allowed to stay for free. The Hills also has an extra security staff and there sometimes becomes issues between the residents there and the other dorms.

Rumor has it that Adrian Labissiere purposely chose a more closed off campus. The whispers were saying that he could hide what's going on behind the curtains. The students and the pressure were so intense that if someone saw the process, they might not feel the ends justified the means. So the intention, according to rumor, was to only show their success.

GM Post

It was the dog days of summer in Georgia. The high was sitting in the late 90s and the humidity felt like you had an ocean on top of you. It was Thursday of the first week of the school year, the day before the first football game of the year for the reigning 5A state champions. It was also two days before the yearly back to school festival that is put together by the students and staff, along with some alumni.

Almost everyone had their first mandatory weekly group session of the school year, but there were still several who hadn't. It was mere minutes before one such class and one such group.

Umi Dacus
boku wa kimi no koto ga sukidakara

Maybe it was her fault that she was so tired, but she couldn't help but stay up all night and eat the entire box of chocolate. It seemed that same empty box was taunting her from the other side of her bedroom. Its eyes mocked her from the distance as if it was gloating about the victory that it had and she refused to accept such a disgrace. Her hand found the remote to her television and she threw it clean across the room. The UFO zoomed through the room and hit the green box (that also didn't have eyes), knocking it off of the top of her mini fridge.

She huffed a bit as she sat up with her hair all around on her shoulders in a curly bouquet of hair. It was Thursday and she didn't have any classes at all on her Thursdays outside of her mandatory group session. She had talked to a few of her friends before hand so she knew she shared it with a couple of her friends, but she was hoping it wasn't shared with some weirdo. Her hands ran across her face as she looked around her room, thankful to be in the upperclassmen dorm this year. It afforded just a little more privacy that she hadn't realized she needed.

Her attention was caught by a loud 'ding' as she glanced to her phone's screen lighting up and seeing it was a text from her younger sister miya. She ignored it, because Miya should have been in her Pre-calculus class back in Oakland, instead opting to get up and make her way to the shower. She made quick work, letting her hair do as it pleased as she slid on her crop top and black nylon pants. It was hot as a dog outside so she refused to be uncomfortable, but definitely did not want to hear the mouth of any faculty, so she brought a long her black starter jacket, just in case.

With a quick scoop of the phone, she was on her way out of her room and out of the dorm altogether. If it was one thing that she learned aout being at Labissiere is that the school was unnecessarily big. The trek from her dorm to the building in which she would have her group class was a good 20 minute walk, though she supposed she could have rode the shuttle.

When she got to her class she was a little bit early, but clearly the room was already set up because there was a group of chairs in a circle. She was early so she wasn't going to sit in the ring of the chairs of death or something a little more clever that she couldn't quite come up with. Either way, she found herself in a seat in the back corner with The Promised Neverland neatly in her hands, reading the kana that sat on the pages and immersing her into its story. Class would start soon, and she wouldn't have time to read, so....she was going to enjoy this.

Ahlivia Morreno

Call me friend but keep me closer; And I'll call you when the party's over

As Ahlivia rolled onto the floor and came back up, she made sure to keep her body rigid yet loose. Her reflection in this big room full of mirrors depicted a young black girl, dressed in a black and white floral unitard and her feet wrapped. Her hair was in a messy bun so she could see what she was doing even though she was recording all of this on her phone. This new routine she was putting together was one she was going to keep in her back pocket. The next competition that sprung up she was going to be fully prepared for and blow them out of the water. When The Party's Over was the perfect song for the routine she had in mind. It was majestic, painful, and probably one of the best songs to even come from Billie Eilish. The part she seemed to have an interesting time with was the roll-away, the ending in which the routine ended but she wanted to end it on the right move. It was going to take a bit more tweaks and more inspiration but at the current moment she needed to get going. The only thing she had a love hate relationship with in this school was the group sessions. It was nice they had something so freeing to do at the school. Granted, ballet and her other various forms of dance was her escape but it was healthier to talk them out too.

She didn't have enough time to effectively shower but she wasn't completely disgusting either. With her bag and water bottle in hand, she made her way to the building that held the group session. It was her third year at what she liked to call "Labaca", so she was used to the layouts, routes, routines, and shortcuts. On her walk over, she watched herself dancing on her phone as she began to make notes. Her posture wasn't correct, she wasn't moving fluidly, and the timing of everything was off. Ahlivia was beginning to even doubt her talent or her ability to make an effective dance routine. In the past, she's made tons of routines and even placed for a few dozen so obviously she was great at them But she would never think that she was even when the proof was there to be seen.

To get her mind out of the poison, she switched over to her email to check for any job opportunities amongst the students on campus. Tons of kids were downloading files on their computers and infecting them with viruses, wanting to upgrade their computers or needing helping building them. Her favorite ones were the easy fixes, restart your computer, reinstall this or redownload that. Either way, she was charging $50 for a consultation so if it turned out to be something stupid, she still made a small profit off of it. A current customer was inquiring about why her laptop wasn't connecting to the internet and Ahlivia waited outside the room to talk the girl through it. Which was so much fun considering they apparently didn't know what a hard reset was...

Like usual, Tomas was hungry. It was a feeling he had gotten used to over the last two years, and had learn to mostly ignore, but it was a feeling that was always gnawing at him in the back of his mind. The brunet had been up for quite awhile now, waking up at around 6 AM. He had slept through his usual midnight workout, so he instead set his alarm 4 hours earlier to fit that in. His vision was somewhat dazed, and his limbs were shaky as he walked. They were common signs of a body being overworked, but Tomas had become a master at hiding them.

As the young man stepped out of the underclassmen dorms he shielded his brown eyes from the midday sun. It was still summertime sadly, and the heat hit him like a large wave crashing onto the shore as he stepped out of the comfort of the dorm's AC. The discomfort from the harsh climate was exacerbated by the button-down that Tomas chose to wear. The temperature would definitely classify this day as tank top weather, but like hell he was going to let people see that much of him... At least it was a short-sleeve shirt and he was wearing shorts.

Stepping into the academic building was a relief, and he welcomed the embrace of the cooled air inside. Normally he would have been more than eager to take a cross-campus walk, but it being during the daytime in the summer was a deal breaker. As he made his way through the halls, he fished out his phone from his pocket in order to double-check his schedule. The semester had already started, but the sixteen-year-old just wanted to make sure he was going to the right place. It seemed the upcoming class would be the group therapy session, that was unique to this school. He figured it was necessary when the students were losing sleep in order to turn their work in and pass their exams. Academics had never been an issue for him, although whenever things got somewhat stressful during the past semesters he was happy to have some sort of outlet and support system. The things that he himself lost sleep over though, Tomas dare not mention.

Upon approaching the classroom, the young man noticed a familiar face standing outside the door. Ahlivia, a girl who was in a similar track as him and he had shared many classes with, had a phone up to hear ear. From the few technical words that Tomas overheard, and noticing the look on her face, it was apparent that she was working with a particularly difficult tech support client. He just offered her an apologetic but reassuring smile before opening the door and stepping in.

Inside the classroom, a circle of chairs was set up in the center, typical of a group therapy session. He couldn't help but see it somewhat akin to a summoning circle, which was when he realized he had been watching too many horror movies. In the corner of a room in a chair far away sat another familiar face. Umi, although not in the same academic program as Tomas, was still someone he was acquainted with. The two had bonded over their nerdy interests, and although Tomas wasn't as invested in anime as Umi was, he did occasionally watch some, especially if they were based off of a video game he had played. He considered going up and saying hi, but figured how deep her nose was in the book she was holding, it would be best to leave her be. Perhaps they could chat after the session, he thought, and went ahead and took one of the seats in the circle.

Nick Wright
No one can actually like this type of weather right? That was what was on the young Canadian's mind as he made his way through his beautiful new home for the next four years. Nick was certainly not used to the Georgia summer heat yet, it was really the only thing he had complained about to his parents while talking to them on the phone the past few nights. Nick was born in raised in a suburb of Toronto, the biggest city in Canada. While it could definitely get hot in the Toronto area in the summer, it was nothing like the hear was down here in Georgia. This was definitely something that he would have to get used too at some point, but that day wouldn't be today. Nick had decided to wear one of the athletic wear t-shirts that he had gotten from his coach the other day. All of their off ice team apparel came from Nike, since the school had a deal set up with them. The shirt on the front said Labissiere Academy Hockey. On the side up by the top of his arm and shoulder it had his number which was number 9. They put the numbers on so that when the teams equipment manager was doing laundry they would be able to tell which clothes belonged to which player.

Nick walked down one of the sidewalks on campus as he made his way from the athletic dorms towards where all the academic buildings were. Usually as a freshman Nick would have had a room in the underclassmen dorms, while they weren't bad by any stretch he knew they were not as nice as the upperclassmen and the athletic dorms. Since Nick had been recruited to play ice hockey for the school he was able to live in the athletic dorms with the other guys on his team and the other athletes on campus. So far he had really enjoyed his dorm and living with his teammates, though it had only been a few days since he moved in so he knew that things could definitely change at some point. For now though he was loving all of the amenities that they were offered. He had gotten a back massage last night from the school athletic masseuse and he felt like he was on cloud nine. Anyway Nick made his way though campus as today was going to be his first so called group session. During his visit to the campus last winter when he was on his recruiting trip, the tour guide told him about what these group sessions were like. This was a place where students from freshman up to seniors would get together and be able to talk about school or anything else they wanted too. While Nick wasn't thrilled about the whole thing, his parents loved it. The boy sighed as he looked down at his schedule looking aimlessly for where he was supposed to go. "Why did they have to make this place so big?"

Nick would eventually find the right building and then would slowly make his way to the right room. As he walked up to the room he noticed a girl standing outside the door talking on the phone. She looked beautiful, but was definitely a two or maybe even three years older than he was. He could hear her conversation, sounded like she was trying to help someone with computer problems or something? Nick flashed a polite smile at her before making his way into the classroom.

"Woah." was the only thing Nick would say and he would say it under his breath. He walked into the classroom and saw most of the chairs set up into a big circle in the middle of the room. It reminded him of like some movie scene where the main character is at an AA meeting or something along those lines. Nick was a little taken back by it, but he didn't really have a choice, he had to do this. Nick noticed two more people in the room, another girl who he couldn't really see much of her face because she was reading a book. She probably didn't even notice that Nick had walked in. Then Nick noticed the other guy who was in the room as well. The boy was maybe one or two years older than he was. He seemed to be off in a thought or something though and he probably also didn't notice that Nick had come in. Nick stared at him for maybe a second longer than he should of and lightly blushed before looking away and taking a seat on top of a desk that was off to the side of the room. He set his backpack down at his feet in front of of him and took out his phone.

Jennifer Monet Scott5E2B559A-DC17-400A-A09B-0807FE0362D6.jpeg
Jennifer rolled her eyes for the millionth time as she roamed around her room in “The Hills”. The beginning of the school year had arrived and as usual the stress was piling up and her parents were beginning to become even more over bearing.

“Sí, lo sé. I know mom. I’m practicing everyday. I finished my stretches before you called me. I’m on top of what I need to do.” Jennifer said as she smiled desperately to herself. Her mother continued going on about her dance lessons and her vocal training. “Yup I’m already working on a couple new solos with my contemporary and lyrical instructor. She’s very good mom,” Jennifer laughed a little. “Yes worth all of the money. Well I think this routine could get me another national title.”

After speaking with her mother a little more her dad was placed on the phone. “Hi dad,” Jennifer said as she began to gather her things to attend her group meeting. It was a regular occurrence in her life but with all of the unpacking and the getting acclimated with the lessons. It took away from time that she could be spending doing other things like writing more music or practicing. “Yes dad the room is very nice. But you guys didn’t have to spring for this room. I would have been fine in a normal underclassmen dorm,” Jennifer said to them and frowned a little. “Okay I’ll be sure to send you the dates for my next performance. Okay love you too. Tell mom I love her.” Jennifer sighed as he hung up the phone.

She was glad the phone call was over but was a little annoyed that they only asked about her training and not really about how she was. She looked at the time and groaned realized that she needed to leave soon to make it to her meeting. Jennifer quickly threw on a yellow floral romper and slid on her white sneakers. Lucky she had done her hair and make up earlier. She grabbed her phone, keys, and dance bag fully intended on practicing after the meeting and she left.

Jennifer caught the shuttle and popped in her earbuds for the ride. She zoned our during the ride and began brainstorming new song lyrics and potential chords that she would play with later on. Jennifer realized that the shuttle had arrived in front of the academic building and she got off and walked into the air conditioned space. Before entering the room, she went to the bathroom and checked her hair hoping that the humidity didn’t completely friz it out. Luckily it didn’t, so she reapplied some of her lipgloss and left.

Jennifer walked into the room and saw her group members Ahlivia ,who she recognized from some of her dance classes, Umi, who She was current at war with, and a boy she knew as Tomas, she knew him in passing, and Nick, she was fairly certain he was an athlete And played hockey from what his shirt said. She didn’t really acknowledge anyone as they were all doing their own thing or she wasn’t on the best terms with some of them right now. So she sat in one of the chairs and pulled out her laptop and went over some details for the upcoming festival.

Evelyn Sawyer

2az.jpg

The canvas that towered above Evelyn was the real life representation of the task at hand. Her art teacher insisted that for the back to school festival she included a piece of her work for display, so there she stood in front of a blank slate marked with faded pencil lines, eraser sheddings gathering around her feet. The AC unit hummed quietly at the back of the studio. Evelyn turned towards the sunlight streaming through the flimsy curtain that draped across the floor to ceiling window, every time she painted she liked a distraction free environment. Which meant that the constant stream of students passing by was blocked out from her little bubble. Her phone which sat on the table behind her began to buzz, so Evelyn drew herself out of her daydream and picked it up. It was her alarm, set to remind her of the group session she had today. "Shit" she murmured as her time was cut short. The festival was in two days and although she had pieces set out to be used she wanted something that would top anything she had ever done before, but no luck.

She let her hair out from the clip that kept it back from her face and tugged down the makeshift curtain, folding it up and placing her supplies back inside the cabinet she had claimed her freshman year. Evelyn stepped outside the arts building and felt the oppressive heat weigh down on her, this wasn't the type of hot weather that she enjoyed, her summer in France got her used to hot midday's spent by the pool but this was a humid, sticky type of heat, even the light dress and sandals she wore felt like too many layers. Reaching inside her bag she produced a pair of sunglasses and began the trek across campus. In theory, she could've been there in 10 minutes if she would've sucked it up and used the studio closest to that building but Evelyn was perfectionist and that meant painting in the same studio that had (in her opinion) the best lighting and 'energy'.

Evelyn had been up at all hours last night so she wasn't on top of her game, the slow trudge across campus took most of the residual morning coffee energy out of her. After finally reaching the building the cool air was an extremely welcome change. She pushed her sunglasses up onto her head and began towards the classroom. Evelyn had to admit she had always been skeptical about these group sessions, she understood the importance of sharing your thoughts and feelings but the thought of doing it with a bunch of her peers who she then had to attend school with for the rest of the year had always proved difficult for her. Well she planned on sitting in the back and participating only when necessary, maybe she would get a spark of inspiration from those around her.

The classroom was pretty full by the time she got there, with a girl standing outside she recognized as a dance student. She was also pretty sure she had fixed her laptop for her at some point. Pausing in the doorway for a moment she surveyed the room, trying to spot a suitable place to sit. After spotting a free seat towards the back she headed over, scanning the familiar faces dotted around. Okay, so what were the working with? She was almost positive she had met most of them at least once and was actually friendly with a few. There was Umi, who she knew worked at the cafe, a guy she knew from around campus who looked a little shaky, a hockey player she wasn't familiar with and Jennifer who she knew also lived in the Hills dorms. Taking the glasses off her head and shoving them back in her purse she tousled her hair and leaned back in her seat. She doubted they would become the modern day Breakfast Club but this would probably be an interesting afternoon.

"Careful...Caaaareful..." Whispered the hunched figure as he held his breath in concentration. He sat cross legged, bent over his latest robotic creation. Unstoppable pushing force, extreme speed, impenetrable defense mechanisms, and a stylish little florescent pink top hat. With all these features, Doni knew that Madam Fifi would have no problem winning the upcoming RoboSumo match. Building her had basically taken his whole summer vacation, but he didn't mind one bit. Not only did he have the chance to show his fellow robotics members what he could do, but he also had the chance to show the whole school...or some of them anyway. He knew that the whole school wasn't going to come watch the RoboSumo match that the Robotics club had planned for the Back to School Festival, but he could dream, couldn't he?

Suddenly, the loud sound of a fox screaming erupted from the other side of the room. The tweezers that Doni was holding, along with the delicate mini-processor that the tweezers were gripping, fumbled right out of his hand and into a pile of old computer parts to his left. Thinking the worst, he snapped to look at the pile before taking a deep sigh. Looking for it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Why wasn't it just happily sitting at the top of the stack...?

"Oh well...hopefully it didn't break and I can just find it la-" Doni began to say as he stood from his spot on the ground, but was interrupted by a rather rude clunk to his head. He stumbled back from the unexpected hit and a quiet sliding sound tickled his ears. It was as if books were sliding off of..a...shelf...

Before he could put anymore thought into it, Doni shifted forward and held out his arms. The books began to pile into them unevenly, causing the corners to uncomfortably poke into his arms. It appeared that he had hit the shelf so hard that a screw had come loose and one side began to fall, causing the books on top to fall as well.

"Giggling...gremlins..." Doni grumbled out as his arms threatened to give way and allow the books to continue their fall. Quickly, he stepped to the right in an attempt to put the books on his bed, but his plans were sullied as a sharp pain shot through his foot and he found himself falling forward. Books tumbled from his arms; Some landing on his bed, and others finding their place on the already messy floor. Doni's elbow slammed into his bedframe as he attempted to catch himself, and his knee scraped across a dusty old motherboard. Now, he sat next to the bed holding his previously mentioned elbow, keeled over in pain. "Wh-why do they call it the funny bone?!" He pleaded to empty ears.

With the fox's screaming still blaring through the room, Doni knew he couldn't take another moment to collect himself. At some point, someone within earshot was going to think an actual woman was screaming. He carefully tip toed across the room, not wanting to repeat his earlier stunt, and picked up his phone to see what the alarm was for. His eyes opened wide as he saw that he had completely forgotten about the group therapy class he had today. While he still had approximately 20 minutes to get there, he hadn't even gotten ready yet and it also took 20 minutes just to reach the building. Unless he took the shuttle but...no way jose.

Doni scrambled over to the apartment's shared bathroom and looked in the mirror. He bore a simple dusty sea-green short sleeve shirt and black Bermuda shorts. Nothing impressive, but he supposed it would have to do for now. His biggest problem was the mess on his head that currently looked as if it harbored many baby birds. He tried to smooth it down at least a little but...whatever, it wasn't like he was gonna magically turn into some heartthrob if he fixed his hair anyway. Giving up, he dashed from the room and threw on a pair of thick black flip flops before grabbing his bag and rushing out the door.

Fearing being late, Doni ran the entire way from the underclassmen dorms to the building where his class was. Good thing his parents were big on physical health and went hard on the home school PE, or he would have possibly died along the way. Still, when he arrived at the building, he was huffing and puffing. He ran down the hall, passed Ahlivia, and dashed into the classroom. "Look. I am...so sorry that I'm...late. I was-" Doni started to sputter out a sentence before he caught sight of a clock in the classroom. It appeared he wasn't late at all. In fact, he probably didn't even need to run to be on time. An embarrassed laugh escaped his lips as he slowly crept back out of the room and to the side where none of the people inside could see him. The embarassment he felt was immeasurable.

Doni slumped against the wall as he attempted to regain his breath. Noticing Ahlivia, he turned towards the familiar girl and began to whisper. While he didn't want to interrupt her phone call, he felt the need to explain himself as he was extremely embarrassed. "H-hey, hi, hello...good to see ya." He gave a quick wave "I'm just gonna um, ya know...catch my breath. Draw in...the oxygen. Though the air is mostly nitrogen and...has other things in it...so that's not really...correct..." He said between huffs, trailing off before giving a quiet embarassed laugh and taking out his phone. He looked at the time. It was 10 minutes too fast...

Lewis Harman

4a029ffa8ac88cbf46eb48bc8afb5bac.jpg

Lewis woke early to the obnoxious sound of his alarm. He would have gladly slept longer, but liked to ensure he got access to the bathroom before any of his dormmates. The idea of closing his eyes and sleeping for a few more minutes was tempting, but he knew he'd regret it later. Begrudgingly, he crawled out from under the covers, grabbed some clothes and a towel, and crept his way to the bathroom. He was desperate to get showering over and done with, so it was always the first thing he did. Sure, being clean was nice, but seeing his body or catching his reflection... no thanks. While he did a reasonable job of passing as male when dressed (albeit one that still had a "baby face"), there was no hiding from his anatomy in the shower. Nor was there hiding from the other imperfections he worked so hard to keep unseen. So, like every other day, Lewis tried not to look down, and distracted himself by humming a tune. He was in-and-out as quick and physically possible, and dressed himself with haste.

The forecast said it would be hot today, so he made sure to pick something as lightweight as possible, ultimately going with pair of shorts, accompanied by a long-sleeved hooded t shirt; it was blue, striped, and thankfully breathable due to being made out of cotton. He couldn't wait for summer to be over. Well, summer itself wasn't bad, just the heat. But it was nothing that couldn't be fixed by clinical-strength deodorant and drinking lots of water, right? That's what Lewis kept telling himself, at least. After all, he'd only ended up with heatstroke once this year, and had since adapted to the feeling of melting quite well.

Any remaining time before having to leave was spent on eating trail mix and texing his mother to say good morning. After spending the majority of the summer with her, it felt a little strange being back at Labissiere. But he was beyond glad to be there. Not only did he get to spend a lot of time doing his favourite thing, but attending the academy had also allowed him to realise that he had academic potential too. Before trying to get a scholarship, Lewis hadn't given much attention to his studies, so he was surprised to see how far his capability stretched when he put his mind to it and worked hard. Of course, the first week back had been a bit of a shock to the system, but he felt motivated and excited overall - especially with the back to school festival at the weekend! The drama department had been preparing an array of things for it, including a musical number that Lewis was a part of. Specifically, he was filling the role of Pinocchio in a performance of Story of My Life from Shrek the Musical. He knew all the lyrics beforehand, being a fan of Shrek, and was doing well so far with learning the choreography. It was going to be great fun.

Alas, his daydreams of singining ogres had to be cut short in order to make it to the group therapy class on time. Lewis soon found himself squinting into the sunlight, then hopping onto one of the academy's shuttle buses. It wasn't long before it arrived near the building he needed to get to. Upon arrival, he found that several of his classmates were already there. He entered without a word, but with a smile and a wave to whoever was looking. Most of the people he knew already, some better than others, but there was one boy he didn't recognise at all. Must've been a freshman. Regardless of who or what he was, Lewis made his way over, ready to get acquainted. He positioned himself in front of the desk the Nick was sitting on. "Hi - you're new! I'm Lewis. You got a name?" he asked with a grin.

Lukas Brinson ✦

The day before games were usually light in terms of workouts for the football team. It was usually full of film sessions and final walkthroughs. No need to risk injury or fatigue the day before, but this also meant that Lukas was putting in double time since he played for both the offense and defense. This meant he had to join the offense for their 7am film session, then drive to Atlanta to attend his biology class at Emory at 10. Which, for the record, including traffic was almost a two hour drive. Then make the drive back to Labissiere to attend his 12 o clock film study for the defense, which he was actually late for, though the ride back was only a little over an hour.

All in all when he found himself stepping out of his film session at 12 he was starting to regret his decision to pursue the medical program. He felt like he had been practicing all morning espescially with sitting in a car for over three hours in total, in Atlanta heat in traffic. Yeah the little Tesla that he was gifted from his exes parents AC was on blizzard, but no matter how much he tried, the Canadian born and raised athlete just could NOT get used to this southern heat.

He readjusted the bandana on his head as he slid his airpods in, before looking to the apple watch on his left wrist. He had 15 minutes to get from the football facilities, all of the way to the academic buildings. The obvious answer was the shuttle, right? Well the inline skates that he unhooked from around his shoulder, seaparating their interlocked laces before placing a foot into each one, and tying them until they were secure. He made sure the straps were locked and laces were secure under them before he pushed off riding down one of the tunnels and out into the streets.

The young man glided across campus with little effort, checking his time on his watch to see how much he had remaining. Growing up wanting to be as far away from your step-father as possible had its advantages. He played years of street hockey and ice hockey, so skating was natural for him. Plus, he was Canadian. He actually was pretty decent at hockey when he played, but dropped it for football when he got to Labissiere. Which now since his little brother was here and playing on the hockey team, was looking like a good decision.

As 1'oclock hit, Lukas hopped over the curb in front of the building and as someone opened the door rolled inside. When he was sure there wasn't a teacher in sight, he carefully weaved through the students and into the classroom gripping a chair from the circle, and hopping in it. The chair slid a little bit, before coming to a stop in which he checked his watch," Cool...just in time." His tone was very indifferent particularly for the amount effort he just put in to get to class on time. He shrugged the backpack off untying his skates and letting them slide off, before sliding his feet into his all black nike slides, before looking around to survey the room. Though he had saw everyone, his eyes of course was fixated on his little brother. How could he have not known they shared this class. Was this intentional by the Academic Gods? Had he not offered enough sweat and blood to Labissiere to get ONE break?

There was a slight sigh that escaped his mouth, before he chuckled. He probably was bothered by his brother's presence a little more than he'd like to admit. It's just he reminded him of step-father and the fact that his mother re-married when they should be living in England with his dad. He narrowed his eyes before he realized he was staring a this brother and he cast his glance to Jennifer. She looked familiar, but he couldn't remember if they had actually met so he didn't want to say her name and be wrong.

He looked around the room again and smirked,"It's a whole circle of chairs and all of you decided to sit off in the distance."

Tomas Hugo
The sixteen-year-old heard the shuffling of other students as they walked in, but was too focused on not passing out or falling asleep in his chair to care. Only when he heard a familiar voice did he turn to look to the door, just to see it swiftly shut with no one in front of it. Through the glass window on it he could see on the outside stood the familiar face who had the previously mentioned familiar voice. A small smile crept onto his tired face as he realized his roommate would be sharing these therapy sessions with him this semester. His brown eyes lingered on the window as Doni seemed to be having a flustered conversation with someone, presumably Ahlivia. Although if she had walked away and he was just out there trying to reassure himself Tomas wouldn't have been surprised. Doni's awkward nature made was somewhat endearing, and probably was one of the reasons they got along well enough to be roommates.

He wondered if the guy would be sharing anything in here that he wouldn't have shared with Tomas normally. Tomas himself wasn't very secretive, although there were things he didn't expect to share with his roommate only because they would most likely never broach the topic, as opposed to not feeling comfortable sharing with him. Hopefully Tomas's presence here wouldn't make Doni feel uncomfortable with sharing things he would normally share at these sessions. He figured it would probably be something to talk about after with his roommate, so he could potentially switch to a different group if necessary.

Now that his mind was off of how tired and hungry he was, the brunet decided to take a look around to see who else had stepped in. There were two more girls alongside Umi who were now sitting in chairs away from the center. There was Jennifer, who he only really know of, as opposed to actually knowing, and the other he had definitely seen around but didn't have a name to put with the face. Besides them, there were two more guys who had joined as well, both sitting on desks. He could identify one as Lewis, although the blond guy didn't look to be familiar. The words he overheard from Lewis confirmed that the guy was new.

He thought for a moment about why he was sitting where he was sitting. He didn't have an aversion to sharing or getting involved in the therapy sessions, but compared to the other students, who were as far from the center as possible, he seemed to be even less energetic. He began to muster up the energy to get up and move, perhaps going and joining Lewis in greeting the new kid, but before he could another young man walked in through the door and took a seat in the circle.

After the other commented on being on time, Tomas scowled when the other mentioned everyone else sitting away from the center. He gave a small shrug which said, "what am I? Chopped liver?" before going on to give a verbal response.

"I guess people aren't exactly eager to tell everyone what's going wrong in their lives."

Nick Wright
Nick continued to sit on top of the table as a few more kids walked into the classroom. Nick was in his own world though as he was staring down at his phone, not really paying attention to anything going on around him. That was until he heard someone who seemed to be just a few feet away from him. "Hi - you're new! I'm Lewis. You got a name?" Nick stopped looking at his phone and looked in front of him as he heard someone speaking to him. It was a boy maybe a year or two older than he was. Looked like he decided to come over and talk to one of the new freshman.

Nick smiled for a moment before answering. "Uh yeah, hey my name is Nick. It's nice to meet you Lewis." Nick put his hand out for Lewis to shake "Decided to come over and talk to the freshman huh? Most people woudn't do that, they'd just go talk to people they knew already. I'm assuming you already know some people in here." Nick playfully smiled and laughed a little, while he was just joking around he was a little curious as to why Lewis decided to come and talk to him. Nick then caught himself staring again. This time though staring at Lewis a little longer than he should have, again causing his to lightly blush. He didn't think Lewis noticed so Nick decided to look away for a second.

Just as he looked away there was a commotion at the door and into the middle of the room. It was none other than his older half brother Lukas. The guy decided it was best to roller blade to class and he made quite the entrance sliding right into a chair in the middle of the circle. Nick shook his head and again laughed. How could it be possible that he and his brother would share the same group therapy session? The school had to do that on purpose. He then looked back up to Lewis "Well looks like my brother is causing quite the scene huh?" Nick was interested to see the look Lewis wold give when he mentioned that Lukas was his brother. The two obviously looked nothing a like, when they were growing up people always thought they were lieing when they said they were brothers.

'Bing bing. Bing bing. Bing bing.'

Angeli groaned as the reminder of group session chimed through her phone alarm. She picked it up with a scoff, turning off the alarm before closing the large book of medical terms on her lap and pushing it aside. As long as she had been here, the mandatory group sessions would seem second nature to her, yet it still came as an annoyance. There were almost always more important things on her to-do list. Fortunately, having had class earlier, she was already dressed. The only thing left to do was make sure she had all her things together and was ready for her next class.

The trek to the building group session was held in wasn't too far from her dorm...although the day's heat definitely could have fooled her. While used to this kind of weather from being in her island home of Cuba, as well as living in Miami with her uncle, it still didn't make her immune to, well, feeling it. Her reaction simply wasn't as extreme as most. She sweat a little less and her hair was still down. However, clothing was always omitted. The hotter the weather, the shorter the skirt - or, at least, one with shorts underneath. They may have lived like college students, but various codes and regulations kept them far from.

Once inside the building, she noticed many familiar faces, some she'd been minorly acquainted with through classes and others she'd only seen on campus in passing. When she reached the door, she laid a hand on the knob, but didn't yet turn it. She peaked inside, noticing a couple of mouths moving, but unsure of if the session had started. "Mierda." She muttered, thinking that she might be late. As quietly as possible, she turned the knob only to find that nearly everyone was silent and tending to their own business. She sighed relief and finally took a seat, one more in line with the rest of the circle. She let her bag roll off her shoulder and settle beside the desk before pulling out a pen and her designated group session notebook. She was sure some found it odd that she'd take notes at this time, but she did it to keep herself organized and to make sure she didn't repeat topics.

After scribbling the date, Angeli looked up from her notebook at the faces she'd be sharing her life with over the course of the year. It wasn't until she spotted Lukas that she froze momentarily then returned her gaze to the notebook. 'What is he doing here?' Her brows furrowed and she picked up her pen again, swiftly jotting more into her notebook.

Alma Mater(s): Labissiere '14, Spelman College '18, Currently at Emory working on PhD in Clinical Pyschology
Age: 24
Position: Assistant Counselor, Leader of the Thursday 1:05 Group Therapy Session

GM POST
As if they manifested out of thin air, as soon as 1:05 on the clock two figures appeared and made their way through the door, motioning for any students who hadn't yet entered to do just that. They would move with a single manila folder and a clipboard in the woman's hand, as she took a seat in one of the chairs in the circle. The man, who would be recognized by everyone except for Freshmen, remained standing. For everyone except the freshmen and transfers, what was happening was obvious, because this wasn't their first time in their group session.

Dr. Johnson spoke, "This is Ms. Cassell. She will be the one leading this class's session as the student professional. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this process, which should mainly only be freshmen and transfer students, our group sessions are generally led by PhD students looking to fulfil their clinical requirements. Though she may not officially be a teacher, you will respect her authority as if she is one. If you don't, I hope you have your finest suit or dress ready for your discipline hearing. "

His words were gentle, as if they had some sort of parental undertone to them, but they managed to command authority as if he was a commanding officer in the military. His eyes looked over the crowd noting a few familiar faces, though none of them were in the academy he led, but he had seen a couple in his discipline office. When he felt that they had time to process his words he nodded,"Well Ms. Cassell, I'll leave it up to you. I'm sure you've made yourself familiar with the protocol. You have my number if you need me. Have a good day kids." And with that, he was out of the room.

The woman looked around before smiling,"Ok first, you don't have to call me /Ms./ Cassell, Cassell is just fine and still retains some sort of formality. I am actually a alumni from this school, the second graduating class technically, even though I was only here for two years. I attend Emory University in Atlanta, and am working towards my PhD in Clinical Psychology. We will keep class short today and just do some ice breakers to get familiar with each other. So I want everyone to go sit in the circle, and tell me your name, academy, two truths and a lie. For upperclassmen, juniors and up, I want you to also tell me one piece advice for surviving Labissiere. Underclassmen, I want you to tell me one thing you're looking to gain from attending Labissiere. So someone should volunteer to go first, don't make me pick someone for you."

Tomas turned to the door as the two familiar faces walked in. He watched with somewhat shaky vision as the facilitators ushered any remaining students from outside into the room. The brunet listened to the explanation given by Dr. Johnson about who his colleague was and how things would be working for these weekly meetings, similar to the speech he had heard from the man last year around this time. His brown eyes lingered on Mr. Johnson, as he gave his last words to the woman he walked in with and took his leave, before drifting over to the PhD student who had taken a seat in the circle.

The sixteen-year-old continued to listen as the woman, Ms. Cassell, or as she preferred, Cassell, gave her introduction. Not many of the words stuck, as Tomas's brain was using what little energy he had to simply stay conscious, but he did catch that she was alumni, and in the second graduating class. He was curious to know if she would give some insight as to how the school has changed over the years, and as she asked the upperclassmen to do for the ice breaker, give some tips on making it through.

When the facilitator opened the floor to the students, Tomas briefly scanned the room with tired eyes. Since most of the other students had taken a seat outside of the circle and most had barely said a word to each other, he figured they wouldn't be all that eager to participate. His gaze then shifted to Lukas, who had been the only other student to sit in the circle. Tomas hesitated for a moment, fearing the awkwardness of being the first one to speak, but then went on to slowly raise his hand. Although he was now looking at the woman facilitating the meeting, from the corner of his eye he still kept his sights on the other man in the circle, hoping he wouldn't be the only one to volunteer.

When he was given the go-ahead to speak, the young man was quiet for a moment, before saying, "Um... Hi, I'm Tomas." He paused a moment to once again glance at the other students. "I'm a Sophomore, and I'm in the Comp Sci academy." Despite how exhausted he was, his voice still came out relatively cool and even. "Um... Two truths and a lie... I was born in France, I won the National Championship for France for the Pokemon VGC World Tournament in '03, and I've published a few apps on the Apple Market and Google Play Store." He once again looked around, trying to gauge the others' reactions. "As for what I wanna gain from Labissiere... I guess I wanna improve my coding." As he finished, he gave the classroom a final look-around before returning his attention to Ms. Cassell.

Jennifer Scott18a55ed2faef6a0ac0bd4846c626e09c.jpg
Jennifer would occasionally look up from her laptop as the other members of the group walked in. She found the mix of the group interesting and kind of amusing. Wondering what different issues they were all going through and what conflict the year would bring. "This is gonna be a trip," Jennifer thought to herself as she smiled to herself and went back to organized details for the upcoming festival. After looking over a few more details and working on a stage plot and some lighting cues that she would need to discuss with some of the people running tech for the show. Jennifer put her laptop away and surveyed the room once more. She glanced at a guy names Lukas. She recognized him as one of the school's athletes, she has seen him play a few times and thought he was a great athlete. They've never really spoken but shes heard a lot about him from some friends who would spend their days swooning over him.

Jennifer scrolled through her phone for some time until two people walked into the room. She recognized Dr. Johnson and listen to the speech he gave and then he left. Jennifer gave her attention to the student teacher, Ms. Cassell, or just Cassell. Jennifer groaned internally, she thought this was going to become one of those AA-type meetings and Ms. Cassell would try way too hard to relate to the students and try to get them to open up about their problems. She laughed a little at the mention of the ice breaker "Like I thought, overly eager," Jennifer thought to herself. She listened to Tomas give his introduction and looked around the room seeing the unenthused faces of the other students. Jennifer sighed and raised her hand to go after Tomas.

"I guess I can go next," Jennifer said as she raised her hand and gave her stage smile. "I'm Jennifer Scott," She stated proudly as she looked around the room. "I am a sophomore andI'm a student at the performing arts academy," Jennifer stated again. "I guess umm...two truths and a lie about me," Jennifer thought a few seconds. "I've held 6 national dance titles and won over 50 first-place trophies. I've won 20 singing competitions. I have 3 siblings." Jennifer smiled as she thought about what she wanted to gain from her time at the academy. "What I hope to gain... no, what I will gain from the Labissiere Academy is more elite training for my craft. I hope to improve my singing and dancing from highly-trained professions in the field. And I want to grow my acting and theatre skills," Jennifer stated as she crossed her legs and smiled.

Umi Dacus
boku wa kimi no koto ga sukidakara

Was The Promised Neverland so good that Umi was so into it that she didn't notice any of the newcomers when they entered the room? Perhaps. What was more likely than anything was that she had already decided that no one who would walk in the room would be more important than the manga she currently had in her hands. She had spoken to all of her friends and no one had the same therapy session as her. At least, no one she cared about. So there wasn't a soul who could bring her attention from her b-

Her head abruptly popped up and a look of distress had crossed her face. There was something that caused the energy to shift in the room and the young lady immediately clutched the crystal that was hanging from her neck with her free hand. She refused to turn her attention towards the aura that had brought her out of her zone, hoping...praying even, that it was her just overreacting. That's all it had to be right? Just an overreaction. So she took a deep breath and looked back to the manga in her hands, but she just could not shake the feeling. She'd have to face her fear.

She turned her head towards the other side of the room to see the current bane of her existence. The beast she referred to as 'Hennifer', though she wasn't quite sure if that pronunciation was offensive or not so she never said it to the girl's face. But believe you, her the animated version of herself she imagined in her head hurled the name at her often in the most sarcastic tone. Maybe it was offensive if she had to hide it...she'd check herself on that later. Right now, she let a long exasperated sigh and tossed her manga half-heartedly into the chair next to her. She would have opened her mouth to say something, but Lukas had made a roaring entrance on roller blades. The fact he even fit through the door on the skates was astonishing to her by itself, nevermind the fact that he was able to slide into a chair without hurting himself and look graceful as ever doing it.

She'd have to make note that she had someone she could skate with, though the everlasting search for a luge partner would continue. She had to shake her head to bring herself out of her daze. She was doing that thing where she thought too long and hard about something. She needed something to pull her attention from - oh look. The teachers had made there way in the class.

She readjusted herself in her seat and listened to the man speak, who sounded more like her father than her father did. She wasn't sure how to feel about that, but she wouldn't let herself overthink it. Not that she had too much time to do such as as quickly as he appeared, he disappeared again. Instant transmission? Is that what this is son-goku?! Ms. Cassell, or just Cassell, had requested they take a seat in the circle which reluctantly, Umi obliged plopping her little bottom right next to Tomas who almost immediately began speaking as soon as she did.

"The lie is the pokemon. You're in high school, in 03 you'd probably be either not born, an infant, or in mother's belly," she stated gently, closing her eyes before taking a bit of a yawn. Maybe she was crashing from all of that chocolate? She needed to perk up though because she had to go to work after this.

Her head turned when Hennifer spoke, drawing a roll of the eyes at her two truths and a lie. "Peacock hide him foot when him hear bout him tail," she muttered mostly to herself, a Jamaican proverb she up picked from her granny. Though before anyone could question what she said she decided to go next without prompt from their teacher,"Kasumi (ka-sue-mi) Dacus. Junior. Music academy...uh two truths and a lie. I speak Japanese fluently, I drink hot tea daily, and I enjoy planning the festival's performances with my partner....." She trailed off a bit before shrugging shoulders,"Advice? No matter how good you are...at Labissiere...you're just another person."

Jennifer heard Umi’s comment and immediately rolled her eyes in annoyance. She seriously did not feel like dealing with her today. As if organizing a festival wasn’t hard enough she now had to deal with the queen of no. Everything was a fight. Jennifer knew what she was doing, she put on plenty of shows and had organized many events. She didn’t need someone constantly shooting down her ideas.

“I’m assuming the lie is enjoying to work with your partner on the festival. Because the feeling is mutual,” Jennifer stated annoyed. “Also cute comment earlier I’m thoroughly impressed,” Jennifer said unamused as she sat up in her chair. “I didn’t know you had it in you.”

"Exhibit A," Umi responded gently, keeping a calm composure despite the irritation that was bubbling inside of her. She didn't respond directly to her, instead of treating her like a piece of evidence as she motioned her hand in her direction, "Everyone here is so used to success and getting what they want. They think they're unique and beyond reproach. They're not. So they constantly get passed by the people that they 'didn't know had it in them'. " she accompanied her last few words with air quotes before scoffing.

Jennifer laughed bitterly. “Girl I’m not worried about getting surpassed. I could care less about that I have my own agenda to worry about,” She stated nonchalantly. “It’s called sarcasm. This is about the festival. And your inability to compromise. Any idea I present is a constant no. We’re trying to make it fun and interesting so we can recruit new people. Not push people away,” Jennifer said as she crossed her arms.

"I compromise plenty, love, " she stated finally turning her attention to her, "But when there's something so out of tradition, so idiotic that it makes me nauseous just thinking of it? I'll put my foot down, and it won't budge. I haven't questioned your performance, you're a brilliant dancer. You have my full confidence in that." She took a deep breath, huffing a bit having hated that she complimented her current enemy. She let out a soft sigh before readjusting her glasses,"Sometimes you have to push people away. That's the nature of this school and life. You need to learn that."

Jennifer laughed. “I’m well aware of that. Trust me I’ve literally seen it all. And what some of these students have to offer this festival are new and fun ideas. This isn’t a competition it’s a chance for the school to show potential students all of the things they could potentially do here,” Jennifer stated firmly. “Who cares if they're out of tradition. Of performer stuck to tradition then we’d still be doing Shakespeare and singing Arias. These non-traditional ideas change the game and have played crucial parts in changing and modernizing the industry,” Jennifer said calmly. “Originality is Key. Umi. That’s what they bring to this show. Who wants to watch 20 people sing with their guitars or their keyboards. No one we want to watch people do something new and unusual. Keep the audience interested,” She said.

"There is a difference between original and absurd. Your ideas tend to lean towards the latter," she rumbled sternly getting to her feet,"Everything comes from somewhere at this point. Shakespeare defined a genre and there are still remnants of his work new pieces today. "

Lauryn raised her hand when Umi stood up, "Ladies, a dialogue is healthy, but you need not let your emotions control the conversation." Which she followed with a simple motion for Umi to sit down, which she obliged, before smiling, "I think we should move on, yeah?"

Umi clenched her teeth before she ran a hand through curly hair and closed her eyes, "Whatever....."

Jennifer groaned. “Shakespeare was a hack who stole everything he wrote,” Jennifer said casually. “And my absurd ideas have won May of awards so I beg to differ,” Jennifer said blankly. “I’m done for now...,” she smiled and turned to Cassell.

Nick Wright
Nick sat there and talked with Lewis for a few minutes (A collab post which will be a "flashback" is coming.) After a few more students walked in, soon enough the teacher or teachers walked in. An older man who was probably in his 40's and a younger woman who didn't seem to be much older than they all were. The man started by saying who the woman with him was and what he expected out of them "This is Ms. " Like the man said Nick had no idea what was going on, he honestly didn't want to be here but he didn't have a choice.

Soon the woman Ms. Cassell or Cassell as she wanted all of them to call her would ask all of the students to sit down in the circle. Nick would get up from the table he was sitting on and take a seat in the circle. Cassell went on to explain that she had actually graduated from Labissiere and now she was working on her PHD at Emory University. Honestly Nick thought that was cool and impressive, but that was not something Nick saw for himself in his future. Nick's plan was to be playing in the NHL when he turns 18 and Labissiere could help him do that. Cassell said that to start them out she wanted everyone to say their name, their grade, their program, 2 truths and a lie and then if they were an underclassmen like Nick was he was supposed to say what he wanted out of Labissiere and upperclassmen were supposed to give some advice to the younger students.

Nick sat around looking around the circle as a few of the other students started going, Nick would look over at Lukas his older half brother and he wondered how he felt that the two of them were in the same class. He also knew that Lukas was going to know his 2 truths and a lie pretty easily. As Nick was stuck in his own thoughts he was suddenly snapped out of it as he heard some voices start to raise and things started to get a little heated in the circle. Nick turned his attention to the two older girls who were now arguing with each other. Their names were Umi and Jennifer. They were arguing about something to do with ideas and dancing and he festival. It was interesting, but ultimately not really any of Nick's concern. He actually took hid phone out and answered a text. Finally Cassell was able to calm the two down and she moved the group onto the next person.

The room remained silent after the argument, the air being a little heavy with heat now and no one wanting to speak up. Nick sighed and raised his hand, "If no one else wants to go, then I guess I will. My name is Nick Wright, I'm a freshman, and i'm in the business and marketing academy. Um two truths and a lie. I was born in Toronto Canada, I am the number 1 ranked ice hockey prospect in North America for my age group, and finally I'm an only child. For what I want from Labissiere I want the school to help me reach my dream and my goal that I have had since I was 3 years old. That goal is to play in the NHL."

Evelyn Sawyer
2az.jpg
The room slowly filled up with more students including a guy who roller bladed in and immediately began commenting on how far apart they were sitting which was an interesting first impression in her opinion. Evelyn decided it would be best to hold her tongue and instead of responding just narrowed her eyes at him with a blank look on her face. As one of the boys responded she smiled to herself and then got distracted by her phone until Dr.Johnson and Ms.Cassell walked in. Dropping it in her bag she averted her attention to them.

She watched in disappointment as Dr.Johnson left the room, younger teacher's classes were usually a lot less structured so the might be there for longer than planned which was not working with Evelyn's current time restraints. The concept of playing ice breaker games seemed juvenile to Evelyn, she didn't really understand how this would make her want to talk about her family issues in a group setting but would participate reluctantly. Although not until others had volunteered first .

Thankfully they did so she let out a sigh of relief and watched. The initial introduction was innocent andthough she didn't put too much thought into it, she enjoyed the attention being directed at one person in particular. And then suddenly everything got interesting, one minute Umi was saying her piece and the next there was full on screaming match playing out in from of them.Evelyn observed in amusement and shock as the two girls sniped at each other from across the room. Maybe she was wrong, this was actually extremely Breakfast Club esque, in a matter of minutes she was sure the two girls would be best friends again and bonding over some shared trauma. But she might be wrong, neither of them seemed to be backing down from the challenge. She had a funny feeling that maybe this wasn't just about the festival and there was something else causing them to shout at each other in this extremely public setting or this was just the usual dark side of the competitive school environment coming to rear it's ugly head.

As Cassell finally intervened and the group settled again it took a moment before a freshman decided to break the tension 'very brave' she thought as the meeting moved swiftly onwards. When she finished Evelyn thought it was as a good a time as any to say her piece and be done with it. She shifted in her seat and gave the the room a quick glance before raising her hand. "Hey, my name is Evelyn, I'm a Junior" she ran a hand through her hair "I'm studying painting and sculpture" She paused for a moment mulling a few ideas over in her head. "So my two truths and lie are I'm fluent in french, I've seen Monet's water lilies in Paris 5 times" she paused for a moment "And I'm from California." At that last part she sat back in her chair and scanned the crowd, she wondered if they were too easy. These were all the quirky fun facts she could think of in that moment. She thought that asking the upperclassman to give advice was weird idea. 'what could I, a barely functioning seventeen year old, tell any of these kids that would make their life easier'. She tried anyways "Okay so advice about Labissiere." Evelyn pursed her lips "You really have to look out for yourself because no one else will. You decide what you wanna get out of this experience, if that's fading into the back and barely making a mark great, but if you want to be something special you have to work hard and not be afraid to put yourself before others" she thought this paraphrased version of her actual thoughts (which were 'you can either be great or be nothing, and most of us will be nothing' ) would keep her out of actual one on one mandated therapy assigned by a concerned student teacher. When she had finally finished she crossed her arms, hoping wouldn't have to say anything else before the end of class.

Ahlivia Morreno

Watching as her classmates went into the classroom, she wished she could just hang up on her customer, but knew to do was would be catastrophic. It wasn't until she saw Cassell and Johnson that she was able to say, "I'm going into a meeting soon. Do you think you'll be okay now?" It got the customer off her phone and her life back. Dealing with people who didn't even understand the basics was indeed a headache. But preparing herself to walk into this powder keg of a room was going to be a migraine. She took a couple of deep breaths before quietly walking in after the introduction. She knew the two of them so the intro wasn't that important to her as she took a seat. As she took a look around the room, she shot of small waves to the people she knew and smiles to the ones she didn't. When her eyes got to Jennifer, she paused and her eyes shot to Umi immediately. It was too late for her to change her seat, to sit next to her best friend before the inevitable word war began. But when she heard Umi start talking about her annoyances, she looked at her and made a face. It was more of a "Can you PLEASE?!" Kind of face, as she knew her friend was never going to stop. With a deep breath, she sighed and looked as Jennifer began to talk. If she wasn't worried about how it would make Umi feel, she would probably be friends with the girl. She liked outspoken people as it gave her her own confidence to be outspoken and not as shy as she was sometimes. But because she didn't want to be caught up in any of the drama, she just steered clear.

Listening to the others speak, she took note of some of the newbies in the room and what they all wanted. When it was her turn, she scratched the back of her head. "Hey, I'm Ahlivia Morreno. Ahlivia is actually spelled A-h-l-i-v-i-a for reasons unknown but it makes it pretty unique? Anyway, I study at it IT academy, but I also study Ballet. Two truth and a lie would be... I've traveled all over the world, Dr. Johnson is my step-father, and I enjoy anime on a weeb level." She was tapping her chin, trying to think of something to tell the newbies sitting in the room. After a few moments of thinking she cleared her throat. "Don't be a victim to your failures. So you failed your test? There'll be plenty of time for you to make it up and study better in the future. Victimizing yourself does nothing but make you weak and if you want to stay here at Labaca, you cannot be weak." Even though she was saying it to the group, it sounded like she was also trying to remind herself of that little fact. It was rough, but it was something she had told herself from the very first day. Looking up around the room she gave a nervous smile. "Okay.. Can someone else... Ya know, speak now?"

Angeli Villanueva
Although she stayed focused on her notebook, Angeli could see the last of the students flow in out of the corner of her eye. It wasn't until she heard the door close that she finally lifted her head to see the all-too-familiar Dr. Johnson along with a new woman who didn't quite seem old enough to be a counselor. Just as most of the other students, her attention stayed focused on the man as he spoke and proceeded to introduce the young woman as Ms. Cassell. Just as soon as he had entered and read them their rights, he was gone. However, Ms. Cassell was left behind to lead their discussion and prompted them with an icebreaker.

As people began to speak, she went back to jotting things down in her notebook. It wasn't that she was uninterested or desired to be rude, but, again, there were more important things to attend to. It was obvious at Labissiere that they all had problems and sharing them with each other wasn't going to help take them away... Then again, perhaps hearing about the others struggles would prove to be mildly entertaining. She'd missed half the context, but when the conversation between Umi and Jennifer turned heated, she looked up again. Perhaps this did deserve her attention. She sat up now, leaning back in her seat and getting comfortable with her notebook propped open against the front of the desk, but her pen still. She listened to the remainder of their squabble. To her, the solution seemed clear, but she knew that situations always seemed easier to solve on the outside. She believed the two would figure it out, even if it took nearly killing each other first. Once Umi stood, Cassell put an end to their exchange and the group introductions moved on.

After a few more people spoke, Angeli decided she'd go ahead and take her turn. She slightly raised her hand before speaking, "I'm Angeli Villanueva and I'm a senior in the Nursing academy. I do a lot of shadowing the nurses in the school infirmary, so if you get sick, you'll see a lot of me... So, I hope to see none of you." She leaned forward with a brief chuckle before clearing her throat and continuing. "Two truths and a lie: I was born in Havana, Cuba. My father is a firefighter and my mother is a nurse. I've dated someone in this room." She paused, glancing down at her notebook to review her notes before looking up again. "And my advice for freshman, organize and be flexible. Make plans and follow through on them at all costs, but don't let an unexpected obstacle throw you too far off course. Be able to regroup and re-plan." She leaned back in her seat again. "That's all."

It seemed that Ahlivia didn't hear him, or was just ignoring him. Either was fair. Doni knew he could be an annoyance on more than one occasion, but the way she just walked into the classroom without acknowledging him even a little...made him feel kind of sad. "It's okay Doni. Not everyone has the time to deal with your nervous fits. It's fine. You're fine." The boy said with his head held low. He let out a sigh before ferociously floofing his hair with his hands, leaving it an extreme mess that defied Sir Isaac Newton's most famous law. He held up his hand and clenched it into a tight fist. "Actually, you're more than fine! You are fucking fantastic!" Doni exclaimed to himself...right when Dr. Johnson and a woman he had never seen before came into view. He opened his mouth to start a stumbling explanation, but the tall and scary man simply waived him inside the classroom.

Doni followed the two adults before plopping himself next to a familiar face, his roommate Tomas. Dr. Johnson left before too long and the session began. Everyone began to share their answers to the ice breaker question, and a small fight ended up breaking out. This was definitely a way more passionate group than the one he had last year. That one mostly just consistent of people shifting uncomfortably in their seats as he complained about his latest robotic problem.

"Guess it's my turn!" Doni managed to speak up after the one who called herself Angeli spoke. He sat with one leg up on his chair, corresponding elbow perched on top. "I dunno how I'm gonna follow that up. You guys are all pretty cool...20 singing competitions?" He pointed the hand attached to his perched elbow to Jennifer. "Nursing? Wow, I heard that's a really hard program." He pointed to Angeli. Then paused for a very brief moment. "...what is Monet's water lilies?" He questioned, pointing to Evelyn. "And you, number 1 in hockey. Like, how old are you? That's crazy man" He said as he pointed to Nick, clearly impressed. Every word Doni said came out fast as he only stopped a couple of times to breath. He was speaking his mind, which happened to process even faster than he could type (113 wpm).

"Wait!" He brought a finger up before anyone else could speak and looked down in intense thought. "Or could those have all been the lies and none of you are cool at all...?" Doni spoke quieter than he had originally, as if this thought was meant to be to himself.

Doni snapped his head back up as quickly as he had put it down. "Oh, right! We're doing ice breakers. Almost forgot. Sorry 'bout that." He chuckled and took an anxious breath. "I'm Adonis Douglas. Please just call me Doni. Adonis is preeetty embarrassing as I'm not very attractive...unlike Tommy here. Adonis would be a perfect name for him. Look at that baby smooth skin." He reached over and lightly patted Tomas' face to emphasize his statement.

"Anyway, yeah. I'm Doni. I'm in the Engineering and IT program. Also in the robotics club, and we kinda need new members. Sooo...please join!" Doni could feel his palms growing sweaty as his anxiety made a little pit inside his stomach. The more he rambled, the more nervous he got, but the more nervous he got, the more he rambled. It was a viscous cycle that usually only ended when someone walked away, stopped him, or he just got lucky. "My icebreaker answer? My favorite food is pineapple pizza, please don't go after me for it. I won a taco eating competition last year, and I know all the words to 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' by Britney Spears." Doni smiled happily at the group as he finally stopped talking. That was until a rush of panic went from his stomach and straight to his brain. "Ah wait...there was supposed to be a lie in there somewhere wasn't there? Oops Well...uh...I guess...I like baking?"

TBA when we finish writing it. ^^"

Lewis would have gladly continued talking to Nick, had they not been interrupted by the entrance of Dr Johnson and somebody he didn’t recognise. Ms Cassell, apparently. Lewis listened to the usual spiel of introductions and expectations. He was already familiar with the process from his freshman year at the academy, and had an idea of what to be expecting from these sessions. He liked that they weren’t run by official teachers at Labissiere; that would only make an already dreaded hour more uncomfortable. So, he was pleased to see Ms Cassell. The mention of ice breakers was certainly less pleasing.

He listened carefully to his classmates, simultaneously trying to come up with his own truths and lie. There seemed to be quite a range in what people were coming up with, from simple statements about relatives, to prestigious or extravagant accomplishments. The latter was expected, though, given where they were. It was clear that anyone who got into Labissiere was talented, and it wasn’t unusual for people to flaunt what they had. He didn’t blame them. After all, each of them had put in a great deal of effort to get to where they were. From Lewis’ perspective, his biggest achievement was simply getting into Labissiere. Anything before that was never particularly out of the ordinary. Sure, he’d done things. He’d been in his fair share of local theatre productions, won competitions at his old school - those sorts of things. He was proud of those, but there was no denying that they were a lot more underwhelming than what some of the others had to say. However, he didn’t waste time dwelling on that. Even if he wanted to, the argument between Umi and Jennifer was too distracting.

The sophomore shifted uncomfortably in his seat as the back-and-forth continued, glad when Ms Cassell finally decided to intervene. He wondered if it would become typical for discussions to get so heated in these sessions. Wouldn’t be surprising.

When Doni’s turn came around, he was, well… Doni. Lewis knew him pretty well, as he was friends with Tomas, and Doni was Tomas’ roommate. Trying to ignore the part of his brain screeching “oh my god they were roommates”, Lewis readjusted himself in his seat once more, trying to follow what his friend had to say. It was possible that some people in the room would perceive Doni as a bumbling idiot, but Lewis thought his awkwardness was endearing. But he doubted Tomas was appreciating being embarrassed in front of everyone. He offered a reassuring smile across the room to the two, deciding it might be a good time for him to say his piece so the attention was cast somewhere else.

“So, I’m Lewis. I’m a sophomore in the performing arts academy,” he began. “Two truths and a lie about me arrre... “ he drew out the last word, trying to buy himself a moment to organise his thoughts. “I can say the alphabet backwards, I was in a cereal commercial when I was a kid, and my dog shares a name with a musical instrument.” The lie was the second one. Several years ago on a rainy afternoon, Lewis had taught himself to recite the alphabet backwards, and it had since been one of his go-to party tricks. His dog, Piccolo, did indeed share a name with the instrument, but was actually named after the eponymous character from Dragon Ball. “As for what I hope to gain from Labissiere, well, it’s the best place for me to achieve my full potential. All I want to do is my best.” With nothing further to add, he leaned back in his chair and waited for someone else to go.

Lukas Brinson

No one really had addressed what he said- except Tomas. Which he offered a light smile to and would have responded more, but before he could the two leaders made there way into the room. Everyone knew Dr. Johnson, though Lukas probably knew him a little better than most in this room. He had spent plenty of time in front of the disciplinary board, which was made up of students and headed by Dr. Johnson. He usually only voted in tiebreakers to let the students have a say over discipline, but sometimes he had to veto any decisions.

Fortunately, he was never really in any serious trouble just things like pranks or missing too many classes. Or throwing a party and having alcohol and other things confiscated. Okay, maybe that one party was definitely considered a serious offense since it had him missing a couple of soccer games, but that was something he preferred not to talk about.

He realized he had zoned out a little when Cassell began to speak and he offered a bit of flirtatious smile when they made eye contact. She moved on to talk about ice breakers. Lukas knew how this went, they would be there forever if they didn't do their best to try to be cooperative, plus he liked going first. Before he could, Tomas had taken the time to volunteer. Then before he could move to take the next someone else had spoken so he declared that he would go last, to save the best for last.

It seemed to be going well until the girls started to go back and forth, which seemed to excite Lukas. These classes, at least from his experience, had ended up being more like chores than anything. Yet so far, this was way more exciting than any of his previous sessions. Well, maybe except that one when Andrews (their starting center) came in class and drunk and came out in the same session. That was exciting.

He knew of the two girls, probably more than they realized or suspected. Jennifer was the gorgeous dancer who most of the underclassmen on the football team couldn't stop talking about. She was popular, even if she didn't know it, and she was very attractive. Prototypical Labissiere woman. Then there was Umi who wasn't as popular, which seemed almost by choice. She was beautiful and talented, which struck him as odd that she didn't seem more proud about it. Either way their argument seemed like it had an easy solution, which annoyed him in a sense. He didn't get to speak on it, because as soon as Cassell broke it up, his little brother had spoken up.

Lukas folded his arms across his chest and listened to his two truths and lie, not surprised he chose to pick a lie that Lukas would know. So he yawned a bit and stretched his arms out,"I guess you're not the number one prospect? Because you're definitely an only child...."

Then the next person went and Lukas offered a smirk to Evelyn,"Those all sound like truths? So I'll guess the French one? That sounds normal enough to be a lie. "

Then Ahlivia went and Lukas rose a brow,"There's no way Dr. Johnson is your step papa, because I would have known. I'm in trouble so much I'm pretty much his adopted son. " His smile was smug, but it wasn't like he was being exaggerating too much. There was a bit of truth to it. He didn't have time to dwell on it too long before a familiar voice had taken the opportunity to go next.

He rolled his eyes a bit before scoffing at her two truths and a lie. Was everyone attacking him today with this little ice-breaker? Yeah, the elephants in the room were that his little brother shared this session with him, and he hoped to had avoided him all year, and his ex, well same situation. "As the person who you dated in this room, you weren't born in Cuba, pero eres de Miami. See I didn't forget the Spanish I learned. Your folks would be proud." He knew family was a point of contention between them so he did his best to make as subtle as a jab as possible. When that moment passed he went to listen the rest and finally everyone else had gone, it was his time to shine.

"Ok so first of all, that little spat between Kasumi and Jennifer can easily be resolved, if either of you would stop being stubborn. Anyway. I'm Lukas Brinson, star athlete. Senior. Medical academy. My two truths and a lie are I was just outside, I ate a burger today, and I'm so glad to be in this session with my ex and my little brother. Advice? Don't end up in a class with your brother and your ex. Even though since our academies overlap, I can't really escape my ex, but here we are. Are we done here?"
