For OOC I was Thinking of going Mechanized infantry

MOS:
Destroid Pilot
+Marine Close Air Support Pilot
+Natural aptitude MOS: Storm Team Basic Training.

I'll need to read over the rules and honestly I really really need some info on the giant robots, but with my stats (29 in IQ!) three Mos (That stack certain skills a few times)
I think I can become a super bad ass pilot

Okay, so I've got an incomplete character sheet up. Just got to decide on my mecha, O.C.C. and M.O.S.

Currently thinking of taking the Military Specialist O.C.C. and Marine Commando M.O.S. but I also want to know if there are any "roles" that need to be filled within the squad (i.e. things like tank, damage dealer, mage, healer, or whatever the party roles are for this game).

If you have any questions, I am here to bounce ideas off of.

Next, Mirgris Mirgris Those are some awesome rolls! They will get even better with your skills adding in. You will have one hell of a character when done.

Just remember that you'll need to make sure that your character can pilot one of the three transformable mecha with the MECT skill associated with it. The Military Specialist comes with one mecha of your choice in the initial skill set, so you are good to go there.

The classic roles of healer, tank, mage and the like are less well defined in Robotech than they are in DnD. The three different Veritechs are powerful, so the ability to dish out some damage is well spread across the three. As far as skills go, having a scientist type in the party couldn't hurt, but it is in no way required for someone to take. I am planning on making up an NPC to round out the team, either as a comms specialist or a scientist type, depending on what is come up with by the group.

Things are a bit chaotic at this moment, and I'm still waffling on what options to take.

I'll go ahead and make the rolls though.

1: 11 replacing with 24
2: 12
3: 15
4: 15
5: 14
6: 13
7: 16
8: 21
On roll number 7 you have a 16. You get to add another d6 to that roll.

Alright assuming 1s there still get rerolled on those followups, that'd be a 21. That's probably the luckiest set I've had for palladium.

I don't know why my last post popped up so many times, but I am glad that you have some good numbers to work with.

I need help on how mec combat works.

It it uses some new skills and systems I'm unfamiliar with.

Like weapons systems has a percentage base and a +1 to hit. When would I ever roll percentage instead of to hit?

Generally I won't have you worry about rolling Weapon Systems unless you have a malfunction with your weapon and need to do a quick fix in the field (ie rolling a '1' and having to clear the jammed weapon or something like that). Otherwise, mecha combat is just like personal combat with you rolling a d20 to hit, parry or dodge.

Just as a quick note, I am thinking that having everyone stick with the Alphas and Betas as opposed as going to the older Valkyrie is what I would prefer. It will make things a bit easier to be able to pick a type of mecha to focus on for your flight capable mecha.

I wanted to ask about that (Dibs on an alpha btw I have all the pilot skills)

So my question was, what about smaller mecha, like cyclones or silver backs, I get a LOT of pilot skills of choice and I don't want to waste skills on things we won't have, so what skill/size is our ship (Small/medium, large or capital) and will we have any other like auxillary things I would want to be able to pilot?

You will most certainly be using the smaller Veritechs, at least the Cyclone and if you want, the Silverback too. Choosing any of the other mecha would work, but I am interested in your team being primarily a Veritech squad, with the option of the smaller cycles and Silverback being open to you.

So with both me and Mirgris calling the Alpha, how many people are left for the squad? Is it a total of five and a NPC?

Hmm. I am thinking it is five with the NPC. We have you, MIrgris, Jaydude, Rykon and D. Rex, so yeah, we have space for one more Alpha pilot and three Betas with my NPC taking the one that has not been claimed.

Also, one house rule that I do play with is that while it is clear in the books that the Alpha carries a Cyclone in it as a backup mecha, they don't ever say one way or the other about the Beta fighter carrying one. So I say that they do, that way the team can dismount from their larger mecha and use the cycles without having half the party screwed.

Awesome. I already have the MECT for the Cyclone, so I can totally rock and roll in one. Can I ask for the Nova as my backup?
