boo.

keep precious things
There was nothing, then everything existed.

Sudden warmth struck the body like a hammer on an anvil, with a strong force that left it breathless. Sensations of touch were the first thing the body felt, as it lay on its back, and something covered large portions of its body. Gooseflesh prickled up all over it, and the body could see puffs of frozen air moving in rhythm with its breath. The mind then began to think as certain facts became clear:

It was a person.

It was alive.

It was cold.

It couldn’t move.

No, that last one wasn’t completely true. The body was able to contract and release muscles, making its legs and arms twitch. The more it tried, the warmer it became; however, the cold was threatening. The body knew it didn’t like cold, but it couldn’t simply wish it away. Something had to be done.

The body then began to focus with its eyes. Before, they had been slightly open and dazed, but now the eye lids retracted and allowed the body to really see. The lighting was dark, with a pale blue light emanating from a button within the pod. It glowed softly, attracting the eyes to it, but there was nothing else to see from it. The body turned its head, barely enough space to do so, as it was in a pod. Gravity was pushing downwards, so that meant the pod was lying down. The interior was simple and smooth, and a panel of fogged glass separated the body from the world.

The body knew it wouldn’t remain much longer in these conditions. In fact it knew many things, such as the fact that it was alive and had a body. What was this body, however? It didn’t know what it looked like. It knew what gender was, and yet did not know its own.

What is the body’s main priority?

I. Do nothing, and consequently die. (-100% health)

II. Try to escape through violent body spasms (-10% health, +20% adrenaline)

III. Press the blue button (???)

IV. Inspect surroundings, and try to rationalize a way out (-20% health, + 15% intelligence)

It was incredibly apparent that in these conditions, frostbite would be imminent. Yes, it knew what frostbite was, but still has no idea what exactly it was. Action was needed, but in what form? The body had no clue. To do nothing meant death, but there was also the chance that, by trying to force its way out, it could cause bodily harm.

So, the body took these few moments that it was still conscious to use its eyes. There was little to no room to move about, only just enough to wiggle a bit, but the body found that by craning its neck, it could see down itself. Its hands were what caught its attention, for against the chocolate of its skin, it could see metal bands slipped into each of its fingers. Each was uniform and completely smooth, and reflected softly the light of the one blue button. The body did not know why, but it felt as if they had importance, like they could do something.

The vision of the body quickly became tinged with a dangerous black, causing it to become just a bit more frantic. Without thinking, it curled its fists into balls, which in turn caused the rings to suddenly emit a light not unlike the light it had reflected. In surprise, the body uncurled the fingers quickly. A click was heard, and in an instant the blue button ceased its glowing, and the hatch of the pod swung open. The cold began to evaporate quickly, but the body sat up quickly, heaving in clean, warm air as quickly as it could.

The most logical direction for the body to go then was to get out of the pod. It still radiated a leftover cold, numbing the lower half of the body in comparison to the now-warming upper half. Emitting a grunt, the body swung itself over the side, landing in a curled ball on the smooth floor. It lay there for a moment, struggling to regain its composure, when it came face-to-face with several new discoveries.

When it scanned its surroundings, the body could see clearly the interior of... Wherever it was. The floor was a solid black, with the odd glowing blue line from place to place. The chamber the body resided in was small, but littered with other pods, the exact same size and shape as the one it had come from. When the body felt well enough to stand, it could see that the windows of the pods were fogged up, not letting it see into the contents of any. There was no order to the placement of the pods, as they lay scrambled about the floor, some touching others, and others by themselves.

There were two exits from the room, with similar doors that were closed. In the center of each door was a blue light that pulsed softly. Not a sound was to be heard anywhere, giving the atmosphere of the location an unsettling vibe. What was this place?

What should the body do?

I. Stay in the room and examine the pods. (+10% Intelligence, +10% Adrenaline, +20% Fear)

II. Go to the door on the right. (+5% Intelligence)

III. Go to the door on the left. (+5% Intelligence)
