Fantasy Twisted Adventures: Disorder and Gob Snot [Sign-Up]

Curtis
Hello fellow adventures! This will be my first major RP project on the site. I look forward to all the shenanigans that will ensue. If anyone has any tips or if I need to update the character sheet let me know please.

Name: Curtis - Gender: Male - Age: 38 - Orientation: Straight

Race/Species:
Altered - A race who upon first glance appear to resemble normal humans. However, their unique abilities make them anything but normal. No altered is created equal. These abilities can range from any number of possibilities, and aren’t apparent until later in life, usually occurring after a traumatic experience, giving them abilities befitting to who they are.

Physical Description: He has short hair and a thin scruffy beard that could be mistaken for 5 o'clock shadow, a mix of blackish/gray hair color, though not the type of gray that comes with age. Slim / lean body with pale skin, though a lot stronger than he looks. Typically wears monochrome colors in his outfits with the occasional hint of red. Wears a chain with his wife's ring attached, though it usually slipped underneath his shirt, and an identical ring worn on his left middle finger. Appears very battle hardened with minor scars on his hands and face, with other larger scars on the rest of his body.

Occupation/Class: Mercenary - The ways of a merc were embedded into his mind at an early age, giving him a more natural ability to act than most. It’s all he's known his whole life, so he's pretty damn good at it. He knows his way around a blade, even hand to hand combat when the time calls for it. He is also very skilled at acts of espionage, often taking jobs to gather intel on the surrounding areas bandit tribes and nightmare packs.

Skills - Pros
1-Enhanced physical abilities: This comes standard for most alters. They possess far greater physical prowess than your average human. Increased agility, natural strength, exceptional durability, to name a few.
2-Deceptive appearance: The element of surprise is a useful tool in combat. Those who don't know that he is altered would assume he's just an ordinary human. His foes often don't realize until they are on the other end of his blade. Does not work on more advanced races of a similar nature. They will automatically know something is off about him by a certain scent he gives off. (see con 3)
3-Nox Æterna: His main form of combat. A short sword and longsword that he can summon at will just by speaking their names. (Nox for his left hand, Æterna for the right) This is an inherent ability tied to his race.

Skills - Cons
1-Attractive women: His biggest weakness is also his greatest affection. He will always attempt to flirt with any woman he deems attractive. Isn't pushy when it comes to rejection, but isn't one to give up easily. I have a feeling the bar maid may find him.. Annoying to say the least.
2-Drunkard: Perhaps it was a cruel fate for him to be trapped here. He isn't an alcoholic per se… Okay he's definitely an alcoholic. He carries a flask with him at all times which he will usually take a swig from whenever he's annoyed or something doesn't go as planned. Although it may hinder him in social situations, it seems to have no negative effect on him in combat. In fact, he claims it helps him “get in the zone”
3-Aethereal Scent: Due to the other worldly nature of his kind, most Altered give off a distinct scent to those of similar nature. Normal humans or races on par with humans perceive this smell as some sort of cologne. Any beasts, monsters, dragons and the like (or in the case of his world, Nightmares) take this scent as a sign of aggression and will most likely attack on sight. Not a very strong smell by any means, and can be easily masked by a large enough group or other pungent scents. This is an inherent ability tied to his race.

Skills - Misc.
1-Name Pending*: Not everyone can hide in the shadows. Curtis has the ability to assume an ethereal form that can blend into the surrounding darkness, becoming almost impossible to detect unless you knew he was there already.
He has honed this ability over the course of his lifetime and can use it in many unique ways. The catch is that he can only use this ability when there is a sufficient amount of darkness in the given area. For example, attempting to use this ability in a well lit room would only cause a gray cloud of aura to surround his body. This is an inherent ability tied to his race.

Inventory:
(Breast pocket) - Flask: Embedded with a purple core stone that affects the properties of the object it's bonded to. This 4oz flask actually holds gallons of alcohol inside, while retaining its lightweight portability.

(Pants pockets) - L: An ordinary wallet containing some money, his ID, and a photo of his family. R: His phone that he uses to track bounties and take notes. It's powered by a yellow core crystal that emits a small electric current at all times. Too bad there's no signal here…

Personality: Standoffish at first glance, unless you're an attractive woman. Cocky to a fault at times. Prefers to work alone, but isn't against teaming up if it benefits him to do so. Bluntly honest, not one to sugar coat things. He has an uncanny amount of professionalism when it comes to a job.

Background: Real name, Cutis Umbra (roughly translates to Walking Shadow in latin) has been working as a mercenary for the last 18 years. Having lost his family to the terrors of his homeworld, he became obsessed with his line of work, and will take any opportunity to rid the world of what he deems to be evil. He didn’t always have this sense of right and wrong, as he was raised by his father to be a killing machine, more on the side of creating chaos and looking out for themselves. It wasn’t until he turned 18 that he began to detest his father and eventually left to follow his own path.
He then met his wife 2 years later at the age of 20, and had a kid with her. Then much to his dismay, after 5 more years, his father came back into their lives, and ended his wifes in cold blood. After an intense confrontation, he would end up ending his own fathers life, and chose to give up his daughter to protect her from becoming like him. When she was 15, 10 years later, she sought out her father and found him on a local bounty board. She requested his services knowing he would come, wanting to be by his side once more. At first he was against this, but after some begging on her part he gave it some thought. If I can’t be around to protect her, I should at least teach her to protect herself. So much like his own father, he trained his daughter to fight, however the principal was different. It wasn’t to loot less fortunate villages, it wasn’t out of necessity to survive. It was To bond with his daughter, and give her a fighting chance in this less than forgiving world.
After 3 years she was already a competent fighter, often going on jobs with her father as sort of a mercenary in training. Though being a great fighter sometimes wasn’t enough. One night in the forest she was ambushed by a pack of nightmares. The encounter left her pretty badly injured, but she was still alive. He left her in the care of a local apothecary so he could take a few jobs to pay for her treatment. After a long night of work, he stumbled across an inn he had never seen before in the middle of the same forest his daughter was attacked in. His craving for a drink outweighed his judgment to question the odd building and he approached it without a thought.

Homeworld: His homeworld is a mixture of fantasy and technology. Although there is no such thing as pure magic here, many things about this world emit magical-esque properties. The core foundation of this world is built upon objects that they call.. Well, cores. Small gem-like stones that are found throughout the land. The main source of cores comes from defeating the many terrors that plague this world, called nightmares. These so-called nightmares can take on many forms, and society is built around protecting the civilians from them. These cores are the driving force of technological development in the world. There are many different types of cores based on various natural elements, such as fire and water, that are used all over the world to provide suitable living conditions and improve quality of life.

Misc.
Likes: Drinking, appreciating beauty (women and nature fall under this), animals.
Hobbies: Drinking (again), swordsmanship, volunteer work
Dislikes: Sleeping, wasting time, cowards, overly eccentric people
Fears: Showing weakness, sudden loud noises,

Accomplishments:
He has survived in the forest only off of natural resources and his instincts for 3 months when he ran away from his fathers troupe at 18.

Managed to underthrow an entire organization that was trafficking goods and people in a matter of hours without any casualties, because the man who gave him the job said if he could do it with no deaths he could take any bottle from his personal wine collection as a bonus.

Somewhat of an underground celebrity. Popular with the civilians for his work with kids and homeless, but those who are more in tune to the darker dealing of their world know exactly who he is. He often gets free drinks at the bar because of this, or free bar fights.

He's actually a good teacher. He taught his daughter how to be a competent swordswoman after only 3 years of training, though it is unclear whether it's due to his skill as a teacher or her skill as a student.

Relationships: Unnamed Father (deceased), Unnamed Mother (Unknown), Clarum Caelum - Wife (deceased), Solis Umbra - Daughter (Alive)

Anziium
Name: Anziium Petrichoras Aravyre
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Orientation: Demi Pansexual
Race/Species:
Tieflings are humanoid creatures that descend from a devil ancestry. Such a creature can be created through the reproduction of a devil and a human or that between two tieflings. Many see this race as destructive and inherently evil, but oftentimes that isn’t the case, they are more so misunderstood. A variety of traits can be passed through the bloodline including but not limited to: Resistance to fire, cloven hoofs, a variety of tails, a variety of horns, scales, forked tongues, skintones ranging from bright red to dark purple, slitted eyes, or black scelara.

Physical Description:
Anziium stands at a generous 5'11" with a lithe build, near enough feminine for a male. His skin is very similar to his father's such being a darker grey skin tone that brings out his bronze-hued eyes. The male's hair is an envy of any female, his raven-silken locks framing his face before gracefully gliding down his back to rest just above the base of his bladed tail. Upon his shoulders, most of his back, and the nape of his neck bare the permanent reminders of his time spent captive, deep scarring viciously sprawling across the surface to form ugly, patched skin. Not only this, but his once grand horns, arced back like that of axe blades, now stand incomplete, one horn completely broken down to where it connects at his skull. Uncomfortable in tighter garb, the tiefling is generally concealed by several layers of robe-like garments similar to eastern culture. In his left ear is an obsidian and moonstone moon phase earring that is akin to a family crest, followed by a thinner choker wrapped around his neck.

Occupation:
Former student
Class:
Eloquence Bard
  • A silver-tongue amongst the bardic college, Eloquence Bards use their words to cleverly cast their spells rather than using casting ingredients. Their words can be similar to that of a siren, coaxing others to do their bidding down to weaving illusions to deceive one’s eyes. Many are hired as diplomats or interrogators for their use of charming words.
Skills:
- Anziium is very well-educated in terms of illusory magic. He studied for several years under some of the best bards in his region to become this well versed. His spells range from altering one’s appearance to casting a wave of crippling fear over his targets.
- Being an Eloquence Bard, he does have quite the silver tongue, even when he isn’t casting spells.
- He was a very diligent student, and thus capable of exceptional memorization.
-His devilish ancestry makes him resistant to fire.

Inventory:
- A xiphos sword: A one-handed, double-edged shortsword
- Bladed Hairstick: When he manages to do something with his hair, he does wear a cleverly disguised, bladed hairstick. Due to his most recent kidnapping, he doesn’t like to be without a weapon, even something as small as this.
- Attuned Choker: One a passed down trinket of his mother’s, Anziium has converted it to his casting focus to better enhance his vocal magics.
- Blank Journal
.
Personality:
For reasons listed below, Anziium has grown to be a quite rude individual that has little to no respect for anyone. He is quick to determine one’s sore spots and attack them if he’s angered. Even those close to him more often than not see his wrath and frustration than how he was previous to the accident. His family has hopes that he will return to his once kind, polite, and caring self, but it has yet to happen.

Hobbies:
- Surprisingly, at one point, he had made field journals for his siblings based upon their interests, such as the studying of insects, plants, fauna, etc
-He’s an avid journaler and has more so taken to this hobby than anything else since he’s returned home; it’s the only time he feels as though he can get some of his thoughts straight.

Fears:
- He absolutely still has nightmares about his capture, bad enough to the point that he still wakes up screaming.
- Touch is a very sore area right now, and can be counted as a fear.

Relationships:
- Addaeus Aravyre (Father, M, Teifling)
- Kennerin Aravyre (Mother, F, Tiefling)
- Torva Aravyre (Secondary Mother, F, Aasimar)
- Arem Aravyre (Eldest Brother, M, Nephilim)
- Faralynn Aravyre (Younger Sister, F, Tiefling)
- Lux Aravyre (Younger Brother, M, Nephilim)
- Bonnibelle Aravyre (Younger Sister, F, Tiefling)
- Ellisar Aravyre (Youngest Brother, M, Tiefling)
- Venari Aravyre (Youngest Sister, F, Nephilim)

Background:
Tucked deep within the surrounding forests of Thoigard lie a simple, although pleasant home built from the ground up by two former adventurers that just so happened to meet one another at just the right time. Despite their lengthy travels and the odds of meeting their end upon their journey, the three lovers, a tiefling rogue, a former human (now tiefling) ranger, and an aasimar cleric, managed to survive their ordeal and create a home for themselves and their eventual brood of devil children. Among this horde, our focus lies upon their first physical manifestation of their love for one another, their first-born son, Anziium.

Anziium was near enough the perfect child; he was polite, kind, intelligent, a twinge of a shut-in compared to the further ruffians that made up his sisters and brother, but none the less loved greatly. As the family grew in numbers, he would serve as the younger children's protector and caretaker. Despite the unmistakable ability for his parents to care for the family, basic needs as well as protection, he saw fit that his duty as the eldest son was to pay special care in keeping his siblings safe. Considering his youngest sister was a bit thick-headed, it was greatly appreciated by his parents.

Years living comfortably in this loving home would follow, with little more than some minor spats amongst the tiefling brood. Life carried on with the growth of the family as they lived off the spoils of their parents' adventures and the production of war horses. At least, until the early beginnings of the manifestations of the childrens' magical abilities. Being the eldest, Anziium's was the first to make its appearance, he practicing its usage under the watchful-eye of his elven lineage grandmother until he was old enough to attend a mage college further away from home. Of course, his family was certainly supportive, but was deeply saddened by how swiftly the years had come and that their first-born would leave the nest relatively soon. This would initiate the beginning of their son's adventure through life. With many well wishes and bittersweet tears, they sent their son off to begin his own life.

The duration of the college's lessons were certainly extensive, but well worth the studious student's efforts. He had grown quite adept at his abilities to create illusory magics. Yet, with this newfound power and self-confidence, the young tiefling felt as though it were time to leave the nest, so to speak. After a short return to his childhood home to gather his belongings and approach his family with the desire to brave the world as an adult, he set off to begin his own journey. Unfortunately for this poor soul, mother and father's endeavors hadn't succeeded without the gathering of enemies; without his parents' protection, he was an easy enough target out in the tooth-and-nail world that await him. It wouldn't be long before his existence came to knowledge and an abduction taken place.

For the longest year of Anziium's life, the young lad was subjected to brutal conditions underneath the keep of individuals up to no good. Scores needed to be settled between themselves and his parents, pain shed. It would be first taken out upon their son in various forms of torture, the devious individuals finding amusement in the harm of their enemies offspring before eventually contacting Anziium's parents for a final battle they expected to win. In that case, the group was mistaken, for the tiefling's parents came with a vengeance to tear the kidnappers apart for the abduction of their son. Their lives would be taken, the tiefling boy rescued, but not at a hefty price. Injuries were sustained not only to his two parental figures, but himself as well.

While Anziium was retrieved from his imprisonment, he suffered from heavy wounds not only to his body, but his mind as well. Throughout the duration of his punishment for his parents achievements, Anziium suffered several cranial injuries that severely disrupted his mind in such a way that his memory failed him. So much so, he couldn't even recognize his rescuers for who they were. With their beloved son retrieved, the Aravyre family retreated to their home to begin the healing of their wounds and the hopeful praying that their son would return to his previous self. Yet, it never seemed that blessing would come.

Faralynn
(co-applying with TheCrowKing TheCrowKing )

Name: Faralynn Aravyre (“Fara”)

Gender: Female
Age: 22
Orientation: Pansexual, Grey-romantic

Race/Species:

Tieflings are humanoid creatures that descend from a devil ancestry. Such a creature can be created through the reproduction of a devil and a human or that between two tieflings. Many see this race as destructive and inherently evil, but oftentimes that isn’t the case, they are more so misunderstood. A variety of traits can be passed through the bloodline including but not limited to: Resistance or affinity to fire, cloven hoofs, a variety of tails, a variety of horns, scales, forked tongues, skin tones ranging from bright red to dark purple, slitted eyes, or black sclera.

Physical Description:

- Fara is a lovely little lady with light red-orange skin and long raven-black wavy hair that is brushed out immaculately, reaching down to her rear.
- Standing at a proud 5’8”, she is a bit more padded than her other family members, due in part to an insatiable sweet tooth.
- To cover up, she likes to wear many layers of her purple, blue, and white robes with a ruffled cravat and brooch at her neck.
- She sports a smattering of freckles across the bridge of her nose which frame her brassy-gold eyes, as well as a beauty mark at the corner of her smug grin.
- Her ears are pointed at the tips, with a special family lineage lunar earring dangling from her left earlobe.
- Resting on top of her head are two swept-back, ridged horns that start at the corners of her hairline and curve back and then up at the tips, with a red-orange gradient from root to tip.
- Her tail is long and whip-thin with a gentle taper, ending in a tip flange that looks a bit like a two-pronged cartoon flame.

The light grey is moonstone, and the black is a special kind of obsidian.
The phase indicates what phase of the moon the represented family member was born under. The children's moons are attached to the mother's moon. The child who's earring it is, is not shown on them, as it's meant to show who they're related to. Every family decorates theirs differently.

Occupation:

Self-studying Evocation Arcana Student

Class:

Pyromancer Sorcerer

- Sorcerers carry a magical birthright conferred upon them by an exotic bloodline, some otherworldly influence, or exposure to unknown greater forces. A sorcerer themselves ARE raw magic. Magic is a part of every sorcerer, suffusing body, mind, and spirit with a latent power that waits to be tapped. One can’t study sorcery the same way as one learns a language, but one can study to focus the powers therein. No one chooses sorcery; the power chooses the sorcerer. Fara’s, personally, comes from the many encounters her parents had with various devils and otherworldly beings in their adventures, leaving her with a natural affinity to the channeling of and communing with the spirits of fire in the world around her.
- Fire is especially unruly and difficult to control, often heavily charged with emotion, and carrying with it both sides of a coin. One side contains ruin, destruction, consuming, harm. The other contains warmth, life, light, safety, and security. With fire we heat our homes and cook our food, but with fire also we hurt people and destroy those same homes. The study and practice of pyromancy can be a hectic and temperamental task, but it is a necessary one, and those diligent enough to master it find themselves with a powerful ally.
- Sorcerers have no use for the spellbooks and ancient tomes of magic lore that wizards rely on, nor do they rely on a patron to grant their spells as warlocks do. By learning to harness and channel their own inborn magic, they can discover new and staggering ways to unleash that power. Sorcerers are every bit as useful to an adventuring party as wizards, making up for a comparative lack of breadth in their magical knowledge with enormous flexibility in using the spells they know. However, nothing in life comes free, and magic is no exception. For Fara especially, her channeling draws from her literal body fuel, and bouts of extended heavy spellcasting can leave her extremely fatigued and hungry. In the most dire cases, it could consume her whole to cast spells too strong for her body to handle.

Skills:

Pyromancy: the magical ability to create, extinguish, and control fire.
- Pros: at-will light source, resistance to heat and fire, useful combative magic.
- Cons: still trying to master her control over her magic, sometimes spells go awry (something explodes that shouldn’t have, local infrastructure gets damaged, burns the food she’s cooking, etc.), not very useful in close-quarters or in crowded spaces without hurting people.

Lesser General Magic: the fundamental kinds of low-tier magic even beginner mages can cast.
- Pros: adds some utility to her casting, doesn’t usually expend too much magic
- Cons: not especially potent, often niche uses

Inventory:

Hand-carved staff she uses as a spellcasting focus
A side bag containing:
- An old school textbook of her older brother Anzi’s about the inner workings of evocation magic that she refers to often
- Paper and a couple writing implements she keeps to take notes about new spell ideas she gets (and to write home while she’s out of town).
- A couple spare prosthetic horns
- One of her father’s daggers, for self-defense

Personality:

Overall cheery disposition, happy to make friends over enemies, and eager to learn more about magic and how to control it. She likes experimenting with new spell ideas, which often end in failure (sometimes catastrophically), but is often very clumsy when it comes to social interactions. Not a morning person, takes her tea with two sugars and cream. Very open with her emotions and opinions. Definitely the smallest bit of overcompensating self confidence to mask her insecurities.

Hobbies:

- Crafts her own horns since she wasn’t born with any but the rest of her siblings were, and is very sensitive about the subject matter. They affix to a hairband hidden under her hair and are interchangeable.
- Enjoys tending to the horses her family raises.
- Maintaining her appearance.

Fears:

- Failure/Rejection
- Hurting someone on accident
- Losing her family

Accomplishments:

- Got rejected to the country’s most prestigious and advanced magical college after acing the entrance exams (it super doesn’t hurt at all :,D)
- Setting several buildings (and sometimes family members) on fire. No casualties.

Relationships:

Aravyre Family:
Parents:
- Addaeus (Father, M, Teifling)
- Kennerin (Mother, F, Tiefling)
- Torva (Secondary Mother, F, Aasimar)
Siblings:
- Arem (Eldest Brother, M, Nephilim)
- Anziiium (Older Brother, M, Tiefling)
- Lux (Younger Brother, M, Nephilim)
- Bonnibelle (Younger Sister, F, Tiefling)
- Ellisar (Youngest Brother, M, Tiefling)
- Venari (Youngest Sister, F, Nephilim)

Background:

Tucked deep within the surrounding forests of Thoigard lie a simple, although pleasant home built from the ground up by three former adventurers that just so happened to meet one another at just the right time. Despite their lengthy travels and the odds of meeting their end upon their journey, the three lovers - a tiefling rogue man, Addaeus, an aasimar cleric woman, Torva, and a former human (now tiefling) ranger woman, Kennerin - managed to survive their ordeal and create a home for themselves and their eventual brood of part-devil children.

Third in the line was the first girl, one Faralynn Aravyre. Growing up she was always quite the rambunctious child, which only was exacerbated by the emergence of her affinity for fire magic. She struggled to get it under control while she grew up, only just beginning to get a grasp over her arcane abilities once her grandmother stepped in to help tutor the child.

Eventually though, she began studying on her own as well, pouring over old textbooks leftover from her older brother Anzi’s studies at the academy. It was in this study that she began to realize that she could not only cast the basic fire spells, but some of the advanced ones as well, and be able to adapt and shape them to fit her will. Of course, all of this came with learning her limits the hard way, especially after a chicken coop or three got scorched, or she’d pass out from low blood sugar after overexerting herself.

She would go on to prove herself shakily adept at just about most of the studies she applied herself to, trying to follow in the footsteps of Anzi before her - to prove she was just as capable of a mage in her own right. Setting her sights on the most prestigious magic academy in Thoigard, she studied hard, and when it came time to take the entrance exam, she passed with flying colors and full marks. The hope of her future brimmed bright in her eyes. She wrote to Anzi about it, who beamed with pride for her, promising to throw her a huge party when she got the acceptance letter, shortly after he was scheduled to come home from school.

An acceptance letter never came. Neither did any more letters from Anzi. Something was wrong. The whole family could feel it: a sense of unease in his sudden silence. Eventually, Mama Kenny and Papa decided they would set out to the college to make sure he’s alright, and if not, then to bring him back home. One grueling year they were gone. In the meantime, the burden of being the stand-in eldest child fell onto Fara’s shoulders. She had always wanted to be like Anzi, but not like this. Never like this.

Were it not for Mama Torva’s aid, and the occasional return home from her eldest brother Arem, a paladin in the big city, she would not have made it through that Darkest Year in one piece. The chores, the business, the farm - all of it suddenly placed on her, as Mama Torva was blind and could only help with certain tasks with the aid of her magical eyemask.

Eventually, the other two parents did return, and with her older brother in tow, to boot, but… something was wrong with him. He was recovering from injuries. The parents spoke in hushed whispers amongst themselves as her own flesh and blood brother stood before her, bandaged, missing most of one of his horns… staring her down like a stranger.

That look cut her deeper the deepest.

A look as if trying to search for something familiar but coming up blank. Her brother as she and the rest of the family knew him was gone. The trauma from whatever whoever had done this to him, left him with severe retrograde amnesia. He couldn’t remember who any of them were, or what had happened, let alone who or where he was.

A few months passed as they tried to adapt to this new life together. Lingering sadness seemed to cling to every encounter with her brother, and any attempt to jog his memories was met with futile frustration. She couldn’t even hug him anymore without him panicking and pushing her off him. Eventually, the family did settle into a new groove, with Fara taking more responsibility around the place as she had proven herself capable of doing.
It was on the return trip after delivering some horses in the next nearest town, drenched in the pouring rain, where herself and Anzi came across the Twisted Inn. The day had slipped away from them after some complications that morning that led to them bickering with each other (as they seemed to do more and more often lately), as they stepped inside to try and find shelter for the night.

Helewys
Name:
Helewys deGrey

Gender:
Agender (They/Them)

Age:
29 years

Orientation:
Pansexual

Origin World:
Lanrel – A vast world filled with a wide array of environments and just as wide of an array of sentient creatures who occupy them. Magic is ever present in Lanrel – known to be a part of everything, in everything, the very thing that drives the forces of the world forward. The ability to manipulate that force is also in everyone but actually doing so requires a comprehensive understanding of what you are trying to do and how the magic needs to be manipulated to accomplish it.

As such in the country of Amarith within central Lanrel while small cantrips passed down from generation to generation are commonplace, more powerful uses of magic are much less so and so-called ‘mages’ are extremely specialized. Except under certain circumstances most mages are those born to lives of privilege who have the luxury of spending many years studying esoteric magical knowledge rather than having to work for their livelihoods.

Race/Species:
Sun Elf – A relatively common race in central Lanrel, sun elves are generally a tall people that lean towards red, brown, and gold tones in their hair, eyes, and skin. Having first evolved in rather temperate heavily forested climes they don’t have any natural defenses against extreme weather/temperatures but do tend to have sharp senses, especially their sight and hearing. Nowadays of course most sun elves live in civilized towns and cities rather than the wilds of their native homelands but some of their old nature sense still tends to linger.

Physical Description:
Standing at 6'1"/185 cm, Helewys cuts a lithe figure but is deceptively solid – they have somewhat soft, androgynous features with bright gold-toned eyes. Their skin is a light tan and heavily freckled, their hands calloused and crossed with tiny nearly unnoticeable scars from years of working with them, and their long, wavy red-blonde hair is left loose around their shoulders unless they are working. They have a preference for nicer clothes and ornamentation, almost always having some kind of jewelry on when it is practical, and take pride in presenting a neat and tidy appearance though they are not above getting down in the muck if required.

Helewys 1-8.png

Occupation/Class:
Healer/Biomancer – many years of training and practical experience have given Helewys both an extensive and varied knowledge of anatomy and the skills to use that knowledge to mend what may be broken through either mundane or magical means.

Skills:
Medical Training (General) – knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the many different races of Lanrel and the experience to care for wounds, ailments, diseases, etc.
  • Pros: Having studied/worked with many races helps in being able to understand and treat those of races they haven’t seen before more easily; can triage traumatic damage under stressful circumstances.
  • Cons: Mundane healing practices often need specific instruments or ingredients for full efficacy that may not always be available.

Biomancy (General) – the ability to use one’s own inherent magical energy to influence the body of another living creature.
  • Pros: Excellent for use in healing arts; can be accompanied by mundane treatments/forms of healing for better efficacy; can be used to damage others as well if needed.
  • Cons: Requires precise knowledge of what you are doing in order to heal well/correctly; must maintain strong focus; extensive healing requires a lot of energy as it is drawn from the biomancer’s own pool of magic; requires physical contact; difficult to heal oneself.

Mirroring (Specific Skill) – a diagnostic tool used by Lanrelian biomancers where the subject physical state is ‘mirrored’ onto the biomancer in order for them to learn or better understand the state of the subject’s body.
  • Pros: Can help the biomancer find out hidden problems/ailments within their patients so that they can treat them; incredibly useful if the subject is unable to communicate their problem/unsure of what it wrong with them.
  • Cons: Any pain the subject is feeling is felt to a lesser degree by the biomancer which can making focusing more difficult; very energy intensive; only mirrors the physical state as it currently is so may not always be useful in determining the cause of an issue only the symptoms.

Brawling (General) – although they’ve no formal training in any kind of combat, they are no stranger to a good old-fashion fist fight.
  • Pros: Have some experience defending themself; knows how to take a hit.
  • Cons: Have never been in serious combat before; no practical knowledge of combat/weaponry; would hesitate to take the life of a sentient creature even under dangerous circumstances.

Personality:
Helewys has always been, first and foremost, stubborn to a fault. When they set their sights on a goal they will work through the very fires of damnation to reach it. That said they are also practical and not terribly ambitious, wanting nothing more than a comfortable life for themself and their mother and to help those they can along the way. Generally good-natured and friendly, they do have a rather unfortunate temper that had been known to lead to altercations – both verbal and physical – on many an occasion but they are usually quick to forgive and forget most offenses once the flush of anger has passed.

Background:
Tensions in Amarith had been rising for years, ever since the new Precept had taken power when Helewys was very young. It started slowly at first – certain officials with close ties to the temples being banished for ambiguous crimes, more advisors scorned the superstitions of the masses being placed into positions of power – but the tension grew. It was only a matter of time before it snapped.

Helewys, born to a fairly young elven mother in the cradle of poverty, didn’t have even the slightest context with which to grasp the state of their countries’ politics as they grew up. They struggled to simply stay alive and help their mother as best they could – the goings on of the elite weren’t even worth a thought. Money was tight and jobs even tighter for their small household so, when they were nearing their tenth year, they made a decision. They were going to become one of The Weaver’s healers.

The Temple of the Weaver, the goddess of the very magic that made up the fabric of the world, was one of the few places that taught magic to anyone who could prove themselves able rather than just to the privileged elite. Of course they only taught healing magic – biomancy – and required those trained by them to offer a certain number of years in service to the temple in payment for their training but that was of no concern to the young elf. All they knew was that there was always work for a healer and that the Weaver’s people and their families never went hungry. It was all they needed to know. Although very young still, bloody determination, a hint of desperation, and a willingness to work themself to the bone won Helewys a place among the Weaver’s initiates by the time they were twelve and they never looked back.

As their thirtieth year drew nearer, the growing conflicts between the ruling class – especially the Precept and his loyal mages – and the temples caught flame. The Precept deemed the temples a threat to his rule and ordered them destroyed to massive public outcry. Leading the outcry was the Weaver’s clergy, those dedicated to the goddess of magic who believed the knowledge of magic should be more widely shared and whom the noble mages with their jealously guarded secrets detested above all. So the Precept decided to make an example of them; he ordered their temple razed and all those sworn to her whether clergy or not be put to the sword.

Helewys was out of the temple attending a patient when the attack began. Only luck and a hurried warning allowed them to flee before they were captured and killed within the city walls. Pursuit was quick and determined, however, and unprepared as they were if wasn’t long before they were run down. Desperation saved their life but not before they were grievously wounded. Fleeing into the wilds was a dangerous tactic but also their only chance for survival, and so into the deep forest they ran. Days of healing themself as best they would passed while searching for a safe place to recuperate when they were met with a welcome sight: a tavern. Odd in so remote an area, but they were in no place to question their good fortune. And so they found themself at the Twisted Inn.

Relationships:
Serlyn deGrey – Mother, 67 years old (Alive)

Inventory:
  • Healer’s Kit – medium sized leather traveling kit containing various roughly packed healing implements – suturing needles, silk thread, a scalpel, some very small bottles of antiseptic – but with obvious gaps where things have been left behind or used in the rush of fleeing.
  • Dagger – an ill cared-for dagger nearly the length of Helewys’ forearm that they took off one of their attacker’s bodies.
  • Pendant of The Weaver – although not religious themself, the silver pendant etched with intricately interwoven lines hanging from a leather cord showed their position as a healer among in the Weaver’s temple in the capital city of Amarith and is one of Helewys’ most prized possessions.

Two healer elves. Neat. One 3 ft tall and the other six.

Cue the 'how's the weather up there's joke 👀

Nightborns usually wear long hoods, to conceal their faces, and protect themselves from light.

Background:

-Coming from a world on violence and innovation, Milly learned to be tough and witty to earn his keep. He was second in command for his famous outlaw band, “The Markers,” who ran the streets in a highly populated city. Magic was sparse and almost unheard of in this world, with the last ones being instilled in machines. Even Milly doesn’t realize that the gun he uses has this power.
-Milly thinks his gun is “alive.” This is actually somewhat true. “Gunther” is a gun gifted with the power to grow the more its user grows with it. The more it is used, the more it’s ‘soul’ is created, and bonded within its vessel. Because of this, people other than Milly have a harder time using it, and wonder why he uses it.
-Milly is afraid of an “excessive” number of hands for no apparent reason. Some things are better left unlearned.
-Milly is the type of guy who does something once and claims he is the best at it. This includes: Drinking. Pool. Table Tennis. Racing. Writing. Doing basic addition. Drawing. Urinating. (why?) Drinking again. Fighting. Climbing. Drinking again…

Yes, you can post it here and it will be indexed. Upon approval, you'll be invited to our group chat which is for OOC.

The dice is necessary. It's very simplified and spelled out for everyone. There's a function on RPN that let's you toss dice. The number it lands on will be your ailment/boon or your next action which has lists of outcomes. The GMs post reveals them as you progress. We will help you as you get familiar with it. There are no stats/dice stats.

Don't hesitate to ask questions.

I do have a combat related question actually. 🤔

How important is dice rolling in combat? and how much can I fudge my dice rolls?

Here is a quick character sheet for Raena.

Name: Raena Kamikaze

Title: The Wayward Assassin

Visual Age: 25

Birth Place: Seattle, Washington

Race: Human, with enhanced abilities

Gender:Female

Hair:Brunette

Eyes: Gold

Height:5'6"

Weight:155

Build: Lean and stout.

Physiology: Raena is quite a lovely looking individual. She has brunette colored hair and she is very fine and fair featured. She has a soft curve of her jaw and for her size, she appears rather petite. However, she is very muscular underneath that fine appearance. On her face, she has bright red tribal tattoos starting from the tip of her forehead and go down the side of right cheek, neck, shoulders and arms. This was placed there by her captors when she was young so that she may be identified anywhere she may go.

skills: Raena is a highly skilled assassin. She is well versed in hand to hand combat, melee, marksmanship, swordsmanship and archery. Also, due to her enhanced skills she has excessive speed and strength, as well as the ability to read her opponents so that she may better best them in combat. Her problem solving skills are also quite impeccable, she is very good at getting out of sticky situations.

Cons: In a world full of fantasy creatures, her biggest con is that she is human. Raena is also very naive and has a blind trust for newcomers. Not being able to have a normal childhood has left her social skills undeveloped, so she is always longing to make companions, life long friends which creates a sort of blind loyalty. She is still a child at heart, having always been on the move she has hardly any sense of stability and will always choose to move and run rather than settle down anywhere, even if it means having safety and security.

Weapons: On most occasions, Raena is often well armed with a bow and arrow, as well as throwing knives and daggers which are hidden on her person.

History: Raena's history is complicated. She was born in the 1980's to her parents, Swift and Czar Kamikaze in the outskirts of Seattle, Washington. She knew nothing but a loving and caring home, and her parents loved her very much. She was the apple of their eye. However, before her parents had retired they were anti terrorists who went out into the world and stopped bad people from destroying their world..and when Raena was about seven years old, their enemies came for them. However, in the midst of all of the struggle, Raena was taken away from her parents and forced into a world that was far from the one she knew. They kept moving her from place to place, just out of her parents reach. Her captors began to run experimental tests on her, ones that she was not supposed to survive.. but she did. The chemicals that coursed through her veins actually forced her body to mutate into what she is now. She became stronger, faster, more acute. So instead of killing her, they decided to make her a weapon and a weapon she became.

However, she never forgot about her parents and when she was around 16 years old she escaped and attempted to go back home. But in the midst of her travels, she fell through a wormhole of time and all of the sudden she found herself in a whole other world, one that did not exist on earth. Still she longed to go back home but she had no idea what brought here in the first place. So she adapted, and she had sense been a part of many adventures including becoming one of the Dangles, who were a group of pirates. Then soon after they disbanded at a place called Eden, and there she remained for quite some time. There she met a man from her time, called Sebastian who also was looking for a way home. They became friends, they bonded, and then.. he left. So now Raena is once again looking for a way home, wandering into yet another place that is so unfamiliar. She doesn't even know if her parents were still alive. They had probably forgotten about her, or maybe not.

Thank you for getting that app quickly. Make sure you add proper "cons" for your character to help balance them. (Under skills)

I don't have questions. Just looking at rps. Trying to get the 10 post done so I can browse more to my heart's content

Name: Kaeda Stillwater // Vanya Delvoyce // Cardamon Gilhice
Gender: Female // Male // Agender (He/They)
Age: Mid-twenties // Early-twenties // Early-twenties
Orientation: Undetermined // Homosexual // Pansexual

Race/Species:
Changelings are humanoid creatures that are distant descendants of dopplegangers, beings that can alter their physical appearances at whim. Although they can darn well be nearly anyone they wish to be, changelings have a true form that more often than not disturbs others. They are most generally pale in skintone, with their body proportions slightly longer than that of your typical human. Their eyes are colorless with dark rings around them. Very rarely will a changeling ever show their true form, instead preferring to change their appearance to a more common race, depending on their location. Some treat their appearance like that of clothes, others become more attached to their false identity and stick with it until the end of their days.

Pros:
+ Many changelings find themselves working as spies or thieves due to their ability to alter their appearance
+ Being able to change themselves at will, they can appear any way they wish. Fat, skinny, tall or short

Cons:
- Because they have no true identity, they aren't a very well liked race they are seen as untrustworthy
- They are often called 'face thieves' and if found out, will generally be eliminated

Physical Description:

Kaeda
+ She stands at 5'7", relatively on the shorter side for wood elves
+ While it doesn't initially appear it, she is well-toned beneath her clothes from countless hours of labor
+ Her skin is soft to the touch, sun-kissed and littered with a skew of freckles
+ She sports ankle-length red hair, it twisted together in a braid with various leaves and fibers from the forest
+ Kaeda has a brilliant smile, albeit rare
+ Her eyes are a clear ocean-blue
+ She is often seen dressed in a bralette, a battle skirt, and knee-length boots
+ She's not one for ornamentation such as jewelry

Vanya
+ Vanya is your devilishly handsome tiefling, towering over others at 6'2"
+ He cuts a more lithe figure, definately learning towards a more feminine figure beneath his certainly feminine clothing
+ His skin is one of the more rare colors for a tiefling, a muddy violet
+ He's the envy of many females, with voluptuous, wavy brown hair that lands just right at his curved hips
+ From many different instances of getting punched in the face for his 'quirky' mouth, his nose is certainly crooked
+ He's been in many a scraps, one in which he lost an eye. He now has a singular eye, it orange with a black sclera
+ This promiscuous devil's tail certainly fits him well in the shape of a heart
+ Vanya's horns are a deep brown, curling just slightly at his temples before rising to the sky
+ Some say that Vanya dresses fairly slutty, with his white, puffed-sleeve shirt open to reveal his chest. His pants are always skintight, with a smaller corset wrapped tightly around his midsection
+ His jewelry consists of golden hoops in his ears, a gold nose piercing, several rings, and a row of smaller hoops along the edge of his tongue

Cardamon
+ Shifters almost never get as tall as Cardamon, whom stands at a 6'7". 7' 1" if you include their ears
+ They has black and cream jackal ears that often sport or bronze hoops and cross-shaped piercings
+ Carda's chest is decently plump with muscle, complete with golden nipple piercings
+ They skin is golden with a tan, given they're from a desert city
+ Getting their bouncy locks from their mothers, their hair is oasis blue, bangs more often then not covering one of their eyes
+ Their eyes are lovely, similar to large golden coins
+ Being a jackal shifter, they do have larger than average canines
+ More often than not, they sport baggy, white pants with a black tunic. To cover themselves from the desert wings, they also keep a white cloak on them at all times.

Occupation:
Kaeda hadn't quite found out what it was she wanted to do in life. At the time of her demise, she was merely traveling around her world to get a better idea of what was out their. She was completely content with spending her days traveling and meeting people.

Vanya knew early on that he wanted to be a charmer of handsome men, using his voice and body to seduce them. When he wasn't toying with men in brothels, he was singing like that of a siren in many a taverns.

The sweetheart Cardamon never ventured too far from their hometown, choosing to spend their days helping out their parents at their shops. His father, Candor, ran an exotic pets shop while his mother, Nyoika, held large claim over the city's potions. They'd go back and further between the two shops, helping where they could.

Skills:
Although changelings are able to replicate faces, they do not have the ability to replicate abilities of other races. Whereas Vanya was a pro at singing, doesn't mean the changeling would be. They could try, but will never reach the same level lest their practice for many years.

+ The host body has had Kaeda's identity for a long time and has come to master great skill with a hunting bow
+ They're masters at deception and lying to those around them. Perhaps even deceiving themselves sometimes
+ They're true form is very flexible beneath their disgusies

Inventory:
**Each items are taken from the corpses of each identity they have picked up**

Hunting bow
A set of the deceased's clothing
A journal

A wickedly curved dagger
Vanya's piercing and jewelry
A journal
A set of the deceased's clothing

A scimitar
Cardamon's piercings
A journal
A set of the deceased's clothing

Personality:

In the few moments the changeling had with Kaeda, they could tell she was a lively spirit that didn't take no for an answer. She fought through those last moments, clinging to life with all her stubbornness. With very little time to observe her personality, whilst in the Kaeda persona, the changeling tends to be a bit quiet, but snappish if pushed too much. Little is known about the elven girl, but the changeling is none the less very attached to 'Kaeda".

'Vanya' is the most fleshed out persona amongst the three, given that the changeling spent a good deal of time in a party with them. He was quite the individual. He's mouth generally got the best of him, leading him into trouble. His flirtatious attitude was near constant. While he was a handful, he was a friend through and through, throwing hands with any individual that proved to be trouble for his friends.

'Cardamon', albeit a fairly brief interaction, was a wonderful individual the changeling had met. Whilst visiting the city of Khudan, they served as a city guide and a friendly face. Nearing the end of their stay in the desert city, the poor shifter was caught up in a scuffle, they an unfortunate casualty. From what the changeling could gleam from them, was that he was certainly friendly and a bit of a goof, willing to do anything to make others smile.

Background:

Changelings have never been accepted amongst the general public, unsightly beings that wander the world with little to nothing. They carry no name, no home, and the most sad of all, no purpose. The one particular changeling was very much so similar to the rest of her kin, wandering aimlessly in the shadows to protect herself. Days would carry on, the same as the last, and the one before that, with no purpose in sight.

It was upon one of those such days did this changeling happen upon a dying wood elf in the forest. They had fallen from a higher upon cliff face, breaking their fragile body from such a height. With no one else around to witness their final moments, the timid changeling appeared before them, coming to rest at their side in an attempt to comfort them in the face of death. In the short moments the wood elf had left on the mortal coil, she spoke of her desire to travel the world and meet its people. It was what she had wished more than anything else in this world. Pity surged through the changeling as this elf lie before it, dying so young without even having came close to her dreams.

The changeling and elf's eyes would lock briefly as she breathed her last breath, leaving the changeling with a once more silent forest. If they had had continued without stopping, this poor elf wouldn't have ever been consoled in their final moments. They wouldn't have voiced their dreams and ambitions. And now, now they were the only one's to know. There must have been some divine intervention at such a moment, the changeling having a most ridiculous thought: What if they were to carry out this deceased girl's dreams? To complete her purpose in life, even after death. They had nothing like that of their own, and they craved something more. Why not do something like this for someone else?

In the silence of the wide forest, the changeling spent the next several hours thinking this thought over, mulling over it as they sat in vigil for the deceased elven girl. Finally, after taking responsibility for the elven girl's body and burying it, did they decide this would be their purpose, fulfilling other's when they could no longer. Their figure would finally change, taking on the appearance of the girl they had just held a burial for, each portion of their unsightly body transforming to mimic the girls. It was here they made a promise to the girl's graveside, that they would walk the ends of the world for her, even if their feet blistered and bleed, they would adventure and explore.

And that they did.

For several years, this disguised changeling traveled, meeting all kinds of new people and experiencing everything they could. Eventually they did grow more confident in their disguise, wishing to take it a step further by joining an adventuring party. They frankly loved it, being able to speak to people and become close to them while under their guise. Life would not continue to be happy, however, tragedy striking the party. As adventurers, they were certain to get into dungeons and tombs with treasure. It was in one of these such places did they lose another teammate, a tiefling named Vanya. So distraught at losing their friend, the changeling did the only thing they could do: mimic him to achieve his goals and keep him close to their heart.

That party would disband, leaving the changeling alone again, this time with another persona to care for. Now they not only held the elven girl's dreams in mind, but also their dearly departed friend's.

Most recently, they had traveled far away, reaching a desert city called Khudan. Whilst here, they witnessed a fatal accident of one of the many shopkeeps they had visited. Saddened by their sudden death, they took yet another persona with them after they left the city.

And then there was the three of them, each mimicry of those poor souls bobbing around in this changeling's head.
