Lance's comment turned the blood in Eva's veins to ice. She tried to keep herself perfectly still, as if to camouflage herself from some predator. Her eyes darted to and fro to see what had tipped Lance off. It was not immediately apparent.

She sent out a tendril of magic- just enough to find a mind to latch onto. She found herself...something. Someone. It might have been one man, or as many as a thousand. A teeming mass of rage, lust, and pride, all just beyond the trees but nowhere in particular. Whoever was watching them was very powerful indeed.

"You're right," she answered softly, shifting her feet nervously.

(OOC Would anyone else like to run into our group in the woods?)
well, if you go deeper into the woods you'd find Hyunjin, Prof. Bell and Shinku.))

Maria Guadalupe-Valdez

“Watching us?” Maria frowned, squinting into the darkness. She saw nothing. But, she had no reason to doubt Lance and Eva. They both seemed pretty certain about whoever—or whatever—it was.

“He can’t be too far up ahead,” she advised. Really, it was getting dark, and the safest place in these woods after dark was probably wherever Professor Bell was. Especially if they were being watched. “Think we should keep going?”

"Yeah, let's go," Eva agreed. "We might as well find our man and get out of here." If whoever was out there wanted to get to them first, well, there wasn't much that could be done about that.

She stepped over the pentagram and began to move deeper into the forest. As she walked, she realized she was clenching her right fist so tight that her fingernails dug into her palms.

Canth Canth Slappy McHuge Slappy McHuge Lance made his way forward, knife in hand and alert to the sounds all around them. He motioned them forward cautiously. "Best case nothing is wrong, worst case we will have a fight on our hands."

Lance want really worried about a fight, if nothing else he wouldn't be bored. He really needed to let out some energy on something or someone.

Dr.Peste stopped running and stuck his nose in the air and sniffed. New scents kinda close. Dr.Peste had thought that they sent some people to follow him. He did say that anyway following him would be killed. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but he wanted a good fight so he set off in the direction of the scent.

(I want a fight so I am going to set this one up)

(OOC Dr.Wankpants Dr.Wankpants - if it's a fight you want it's a fight you'll get lol. Just make yourself known whenever you feel like)

"Right behind you, Lance," she lied. She kept still and let the others move ahead. She liked these folks a lot, but that didn't mean she wasn't perfectly happy to let them take the first few hits if needed.

She bent down and scoured the forest floor. It took a moment in the encroaching dark, but she found what she was looking for. A stone, no bigger than a tennis ball. She palmed it, one edge jutting out beyond her clutched fingers to make a crude bludgeon.

Alexander Bell

“Not so quick,” Alex warned as he fished a small flip phone from his pocket. He popped it open and scrolled through his contacts until he found ‘Boss-Man’. He selected it and set the phone to his ear, waiting for the Headmaster to answer.

“Sir? I found the students. There are no rebels presently in sight. How’d you like me to proceed?”

Maria Guadalupe-Valdez
Maria followed after the other two, doing her best to keep her steps as quiet as possible on the forest floor. As they moved, she thought she could begin to make out a voice. It was a ways off still, quiet and muffled, and she could not make out what it was saying. But, it was a voice. A male voice, she thought. Were they getting closer?

“You guys hear that?” she asked, eyes flickering to the other two students with her before turning back forward. “I think that’s the Professor.”

((I fully intended to have Bell involved in a fight. Maybe if he runs into the other three in time to join in. Tho, that might be a rather imbalanced fight.))

Shinku followed Jin and Professor Bell through the forest as they headed for the school. Professor Bell was in a call with the Headmaster a moment ago, so Shinku confirmed that they were safe to head back to the school. Part of her was glad that she was going back since her medicine supply was running low and her crow was back at the school. As she walked through the still forest, she had a institution that there was someone else there as well.

Then, she spotted familiar crackles of electricity in the distance. When Shinku squinted her eyes, she realised that it was the transfer student named Lance from earlier, along with two other students. Shinku whispered to Jin about what she saw, deciding to let her senior think through on giving a report on the trio to Professor Bell or not.

((You lot may proceed with the fight you claim to start. We'll try to play along with the time line.))

AL.Over AL.Over Canth Canth Dr.Wankpants Dr.Wankpants Lance slid to a halt, his eyes scanning the area carefully. To his west a few yards away was a stream, to the east a ravine. Deciding that it would be easier to find more information he worked his way to the stream and then he heard the tiny sounds of little feet. He knew already that whoever or whatever it was had found him just as he had expected. There was never a doubt in his mind that he would encounter some sort of enemy in these woods. It was more a matter of time before something like this happened. "Makes sense," He reasoned. "The teacher wouldn't come here to the woods on a fools errand. There obviously would some sort of threat right?" He said this more to himself rather to his companions in particular. Raising his head to the sky he bellowed out, "If you are going to watch us, you might as well come out!" Lowering his head, he got his knife ready, the large blade, something akin to a 10 inch bowie knife, held tightly in his hand.

Monokuma.is.best Monokuma.is.best AL.Over AL.Over Canth Canth "How cute you think that your strong enough to deal with me?" The voice of Dr.Peste seemed to come from everywhere as little red rat eyes began to be visble in the treeline and bushes with the sounds of hissing all around. All the 40 rats from the forest were under his control making there eyes glow a faint red.

The voice seemed to come from everywhere. Eva could see at least a dozen rats, with who knows how many more scurrying around in the underbrush.

She understood immediately the ancient revulsion with these creatures. Tiny claws on grasping, naked little paws. Noses twitching with a constant nervous energy.

The movement caught her attention. Noses moving, but their mouths were not. No formation of worlds. The rats were not speaking. Of course rats couldn't speak, but this place ran on different assumptions than her life before. That meant the voice she heard was coming from someone else.

Whoever it was was obviously spoiling for a fight. Lance was too, by the look of him. Knife out and ready. God damn, that was a knife and a half. She hoped he was ready for action. She didn't count herself as being handy in a fight to begin with. And that impression was based how she thought she would hold up in a fight with a person. One person. What the hell was she supposed to do if a wave of rats descended on them?

"We don't want trouble," she proclaimed, her voice strong despite the revulsion and panic festering in her guts. She slipped her rock into her jacket pocket and held her hands out, non-threatening like.

"Just looking for a friend, that's all."

"Now we know we can't have that so lets get this started!" Dr.Peste then began to let out his Rat King energy. He screamed in agony as a tail sprouted out from his backside, hair began to come out from his sleeves at his hands, his gloves were ripped open as claws sprouted through them, and finally he stopped his energy before becoming a full rat.

"Come my friends and bow down to The Rat King!" He said as the rats sprang out of the bushes gathering around him. His army of 40 was ready to fight.

When Hyunjin was informed that the rebels they were fighting was the same people as Kenneth and Five were with, she was obviously against them. Sure they had their problems with the school, but why take it out on a village? That part infuriated her. She nodded to Shinku, as a sign of thanks for the information. She was thinking about the report already. They indeed found some scouts and eliminated them. Then there was the village. And then Five. She tried to make the report as brief as possible but her chain of thought was interrupted once Bell told them to stop. She looked over at Bell and saw him reporting to someone. Most likely the headmaster. As he was contacting him, Hyunjin looked at Shinku and saw her squinting. She was looking at something, very closely. She looked in the direct she was looking and saw the same thing. She decided to let Bell finish his report silently before she began walking slowly towards the electricity. They were just retrieved by Bell, but this was still part of their job to patrol the forest and stuff. Anything out-of-the-ordinary within the forest had to be investigated. She still thinks there's some dirt the headmaster is hiding away, but what concerned her most was the safety of the students in the school. That included Shinku.

Shinku heard a loud cry of agony from the other side of the forest. Shinku had heard the familiar voice before. It was the Rat Rebel. Jin must've heard the same thing because she suddenly jumped in surprise. Professor Bell seemed slightly shocked at the sudden cry as well.

Shinku reached for her fluet that was tucked in her jacket. She didn't want to get into another fight, as she just had one heck of a showdown at the town earlier. But, Shinku got into battle stance anyways and waited for further instruction. It took her a second to notice that when Professor Bell was speaking with the Headmaster, he was addressing Jin as ' Hyunjin '. Guess the supervisor was calling her by her alias, Shinku realised. Shinku heard the electricity crackling louder in the tight forest. This was going to get messy.....

Slappy McHuge Slappy McHuge Canth Canth Dr.Wankpants Dr.Wankpants Lances energy slowly began to assault the area around him. He made it a point to prevent it from striking his comrades in the process. "A rat talking tough huh?" He cracked his fists as his electricity began to reinforce his body with an almost invisible body armor. "Hope you can back up all that squeaking, oversized furball." He took a step forward, not giving a damn about his small army. To him, they we're inconsequential. His focus was on the large rat in front of him.

He pulled his arm back, taking a more agile stance, the electricity beginning to arc around his blade. Even if he had to use speed to do it, he would aim to lob this creatures head off in one single strike. The edge of his blade crackled menancingly. He heard one comrade mentioning not wanting to fight. "If he didn't want a fight he wouldn't have brought a herd of these things. He is here probably out off boredom like I am."

Maria Guadalupe-Valdez
Oh crap. Shitshitshitshitshit—Maria watched in complete horror as the guy in front of them, the self-proclaimed Rat King (because who wouldn’t want to be known as that?) began to, well, turn into a rat. It was so horribly grotesque, Maria thought she was going to be sick. Why? Of all the people they could have run into in this forest, why the ‘Rat King’.

Lance had whipped out a rather excessive knife and was now sparking like crazy. Maria took a step back to give him some space.

“I think he’s right,” she glanced over at Eva. “This guy seems pretty set on a fight. Unfortunately.” Maria turned her eyes forward, noting how the two men were squaring off at each other, as if they expected this to be a one-on-one brawl, a test of power, to see who might reign supreme. Boys. They were all the same, rat and non-rat alike, always so ready to prove themselves to no one. She shook her head. Of course, this was not going to be a fair fight because Lance had her and Eva. They might not be able to shoot lightning out of their finger tips, but that did not mean they couldn’t kick some ass.

Maria drew in a breath and released the first dose, her pupils dilating just slightly as her senses heightened. The small hairs on the back of her neck stood on end, her lungs opened to draw in more oxygen, her eyes took in more of her surroundings. It was nothing inhuman, merely the start-up of her fight-or-flight response. She focused on the ‘fight’ part, setting a foot back to balance her weight and clenching her fists at her sides. She did not have any fancy weapons or flashy powers, but she had some training and a powerful ability to take a punch.

“Alright, who wants to go first?”

((I have Alex’s post ready, but I wanted to let the three students get a couple licks in before he steps in. As any responsible teacher might, he’s going to do his best to send everyone back to the school and finish Dr. Peste off himself. Of course, by finish, I mean do whatever you want with your character Dr.Wankpants Dr.Wankpants ))

"Seems your friends are joining in...I will let my friends deal with you two." He then whistled and his rats dove back into the bushes and flanked around to the left side. They then began to attempt to swarm the two.

Eva had the least to gain by waiting, so she made her move first. She reached out with her magic and tapped into the mind of the nearest speaking rat. She didn't get much from it. Again, it was a rat. Magic or not.

It was going to take every trick she had to get out of this alive. Which meant trying some emotive manipulation.

It was exceptionally difficult to do that to a person. Their personality and will acted as a sort of wall against your imposition. Such barriers could be overcome if you had skill and a loose sense of ethics, but Eva hadn't either yet. But a rat might just be easier to guide than a person.

Fear would be her weapon. If all you have is a hammer, then everything looks like a nail, right? Fear ran deep in the mind, below reason and even most other emotions, in her experience. If she could just get enough of the swarm to turn and run, maybe the panic would spread to the other rats. At the very least she might get them to keep their distance.

She opened the connection between her and the lead rat, a dangerous thing to do. She pushed her own sense of dread towards it, and thought of hawks, cats and mousetraps for good measure.

She had no way of knowing, but she hoped whatever command this Rat King had over his pets came from outside. If so, she might sever the connection by going one level deeper, so to speak.

She tightened her fist, ready to follow up with another if this actually worked.
