Kenneth realized something about the other girl as she played her song. He calculated this battle carefully, even with his rapid movements. He knew he'd lose this fight under these conditions. His strength would allow him to do more damage to Jin than Shinku could regenerate, but that would imply killing a student. Above all else, Kenneth didn't want to piss off the Big Guy, so he had to think of other options. Bullets wouldn't be able to stop her from playing, but they made a great distraction. He realized that Jin had far better mobility, her being a forward combatant, than the other girl. He placed two shots between him and the girl to create some distance, then when it was large enough he placed the tip of his boot into the dirt. With all his might he kicked upwards, sending a massive cloud of dust into the air to blind the girl. He didn't know what she would do in response, but it didn't matter, it gave him all the time he needed.

By the time the dirt had cleared, Kenneth had vanished. There was once again several moments of silence. In the tense confusion, Kenneth's fist exploded through the wall near Shinku and grasped her by the throat. His wide smile stared into her as he sent his whole body through the remainder of the wall. He had some light scratches on his skin from the force of abrasive brick against his body, but he didn't seem too phased by it.

"Well hey there!" His cheery voice echoed across the battleground. He knew Jin would have to charge to land a good hit on him without hitting Shinku also, but he figured the precision required for the strike would take some thinking. He reared back his other fist with intent to incapacitate Shinku. "Night-night!"

Shinku's POV

When the leader used his distraction plan to blind Jin with dust, Shinku tried to clear the dust with another tune. But, when the dust finally gave way, the leader was out of sight. Then, silence dawned upon them for a couple of moments. When Shinku tried to run towards Jin, she felt a force grip onto her neck, causing her to drop her flute. When Shinku opened her eyes, she saw the leader's vicious smile in front of her. His grip on Shinku tightened when she tried to struggle, and Jin seemed to be considering her next attack.

With the guys's choking grip on her throat, Shinku barely got the chance to gasp for air. Her vision blurred. Shinku commanded herself to remain awake, but the lack of air supply definitely didn't help the situation. Then, darkness took over.

When the girl passed out from the hold, Kenneth gave a confused look. "Huh. That was... easy?" For good measure, he struck her in the face one time to ensure she wouldn't wake up prematurely. Then, he dropped her to the floor and stood over her to prevent Jin from using any Cryomancy without hurting Shinku. "Your turn, dollface!" He struck his fist into his palm, creating a small gust of dirt when the two forces collided.

"You bastard!" Hyunjin said before she sprinted towards him with everything she got. When she unsheathed her blade, it looked like she blinked right by Kenneth with her blade drawn and held extended outwards. Like a samurai movie, once she sheathed her blade, that's where the real art had happened. A flurry of sword strikes had hit Kenneth precisely without harming Shinku. When Hyunjin turned around, she dashed towards him again, drawing her blade once more before striking the ground before her and swung her sword up to make an icicle that would erupt from the ground and strike Kenneth diagonally so it wouldn't hit Shinku, and the ice would just push go over Shinku. It was also to push Kenneth away so he wasn't using Shinku as insurance. "Such cheap tricks don't work on me, brute." She said as she stood in between Shinku and Kenneth. She then held Shinku in a temporary ice cage, giving her breathing room and protection until she woke up. The fight was now just between them, but Kenneth could always go after Shinku again. She had to keep that in mind...

Kenneth kept his arms up to protect his eyes and mouth from the strikes. Each sword slash made little marks in his skin, but none of them were quite enough to draw blood, save for a few. He turned to see the ice flying towards his face. He struck into it with an open palm to prevent it from truly hitting him, but the action pushed him back several feet. The ground gave way to his feet as he dug his shoes into the dirt to prevent him from going too far. He stood up and listened to the girl insult him as she stood heroically over her friend. He pushed back his hair and laughed at her as he felt his blood pumping.

"Stupid girl." he started as he pulled his assault rifle from his back. "You may be good but you've got a lot to learn! Lemme teach you, why don't I?" Kenneth knew his advantage. If he fired his gun at them, that would put Jin into a nasty position, move and Shinku gets shot, stay and put up a barrier and she could be shot from behind or punched from the front, put up ice in all directions and Shinku could freeze. Kenneth knew he didn't actually need to stop Jin from attacking, he just needed to keep from doing anything else but. He pulled the trigger, ready to watch at least one girl die.

Alvar Madoka's POV
Location : Headmaster's Office

Alvar was finishing the last of his paperwork when suddenly his private eye rushed into his office. " Headmaster ! Two Dangerous Ability Type students are fighting with the rebels, I saw them through my clairvoyance. They're not doing well. " The private eye told him. Alvar didn't look one bit concerned. He can risk losing two of his pawns, but that might get students suspicious. " Remove the barriers around them, we can't have them track us back to the school's location. " Alvar said, deciding that the two students weren't worth the risk.
Every Dangerous Ability Type member has a barrier around them so they can be traced and watched at all times, but the barriers can be traced by a talented barrier maker. The private eye hesitated a moment before telling his partner Alvar's orders.

Hyunjin noticed Kenneth pulled out an AR but that didn't stop her. Even when she's killed a handful of soldiers before, there was no doubt they didn't shoot at her as well. But this had to make her act fast. She set up a thick ice wall for Shinku so she wouldn't get hit. And before the first bullet hit her, she cut the first bullet while during her swing, she also sent her barrage of ice shards towards Kenneth's AR. She did get grazed by another bullet but she managed to cut down the rest. She didn't hesitate to charge at him, but in a serpentine pathway. She lunged from one place from another as she closed into Kenneth. Then, her motion began to smooth out to the point it looked like an alluring dance as she moved. It would entrance the opponent and distract them, and as Hyunjin did that, she hurled more of her ice shards towards Kenneth. Upon contact, those ice shards would explode into icicles. She didn't exactly have to worry about Shinku because she was well protected by the ice wall and the ice cage she was in. All she had to worry about was just dealing with Kenneth. Damn that headmaster, she thought they were being watched at all times, right? Why the hell are there no reinforcements? Perhaps they were already abandoned. Not like she needed the headmaster, this fight would just have to be dealt with on her own.

Kenneth let himself be distracted, but his cocky smile turned into immediate fury when he was struck by the ice shards. He threw down his gun and returned the charge. The dirt shifted underneath the force of his step as approached the smaller girl. Suddenly, a barrage of bullets from one of the hidden soldiers went towards their legs. Kenneth saw at least one or two hit Jin in the legs, but a good amount of them went into Kenneth's as well. He yelped out as they penetrated his skin. Unfortunately, his 'leather skin' worked both ways, meaning the bullets entered his legs but they didn't exit. He looked, frustrated at the situation as he realized one of his own soldiers had fired upon him. He cursed from the pain in his lower body under his breath. Quickly, he surveyed to see if the Jin girl had taken any hits.

Eva took out a notepad and began to write down what her classmates were saying. They answered the instructor's questions with great enthusiasm, and seemed to know their stuff. Take what you can get, she thought.

Magic is not Science

The instructor found this answer amusing. He expressed his belief that, between the two, they had different conceptualizations of the nature of magic. Specifically, that she was totally wrong and he was right. Eva scratched out what she had written and pinched her nose in frustration.

The instructor composed himself and began again. This time, however, he spoke earnestly as if from personal experience, rather than delivering a lecture by rote. The real magic was that this was all starting to make an intuitive kind of sense. His method of producing and channeling magic sounded awfully familiar. Alternate beings, huh? So someone else had met them. Perhaps this instructor had his secrets worth prying out. But it would take careful doing.

But what he was saying about magic being a fact of life? A nice turn of phrase. Maybe that would be all she needed to convince the folks back home that she was no different than them.

She tentatively made new notes.

Magic = science (?)

A student burst in late, causing the instructor to throw up his hands in exasperation. He asked if any of them cared to speculate on all the illegal shit the headmaster is up to.

Eva perked up. Illegal shit? That couldn't be where this whole enterprise was going, could it? Her skills didn't exactly lend themselves to a life of crime. Or perhaps they did, but she would be held to account for herself at the end of her time here and she had no intention of travelling that particular road to perdition. Someone's expectations were wildly out of place here, either hers or the schools. In fact, likely both.

The curiosity became too much. She reached out with a whisper of magical energy, latching itself invisibly to the instructor's being. He was wasn't joking around. No particulars, but he took whatever he was saying gravely serious. She had to say something. The time for Miss Classroom Manners was over.

"What do you mean exactly, sir?"

Hyunjin definitely heard gunfire and reacted by doing a backflip, the bullets missing her legs and passing right under her. Assuming the pathways of the bullets, she hurled ice shards towards that soldier's location and impaled him with multiple shards of ice. When she looked at Kenneth, she was actually surprised. She scoffed slightly seeing how he was the one who got shot by his own soldiers and made an ice wall around them so it was just Kenneth and Hyunjin alone in this closed area. She had a playful smirk on her face as she spoke. "Well, I wouldn't expect your own soldiers to hit you with no regards to friendly fire. I'll admit, I was lucky." She then stood in front of him and drew her blade. She raised it across her body, ready to swing to strike him down. Her playful smirk had already faded into a cold glare. "I suppose this would be karma's doing. Isn't it?" She said before she swung her blade across his body. The cut would be clean and swift that he wouldn't actually feel the blade. Instead, he'd just feel cold.

Shinku mind snapped into to focus as soon as she heard gunshots in the background. She picked herself up from the ground and found herself in a cage of ice. Shinku remembered passing out, so Jin must've put her in here to prevent her from getting in the middle of the battle. Shinku squinted from her ice cage. In another ice cage, Shinku spotted Jin and the leader fighting. Jin seemed to have an upper advantage, and the leader seemed slight injured.

Shinku felt a cold breeze of air as the ice surrounding her melted slowly. She ran towards the other ice cage, tempted to try and break the ice with her abilities. The leader was injured by Jin's sword and was lying on the floor in a strange position. Shinku thought that things have calmed down when another voice spoke. " Kenneth, thanks for keeping the targets here. "

Dr.Peste sitting under a tree begins to get a little frustrated. He had been searching for days looking for the leader of this rebel organization. He was seriously thinking about trying to get on school grounds and try and find a recruiter. That was until he got a report from his scouting rats that they might have a lead on a place where the organization safe house is.

"You better be worth all this trouble I am going through..." he sighed getting up and moving towards the sewers to follow this lead.

Using his rats he sent them ahead following this complex maze that smelled like shit. He started thinking to himself about what the hell he was even doing looking for this guy. He could have just stayed home and kept working on toxins, but he needs the help on his goal of destroying the forsaken school.

There was a second set of footsteps that picked up some distance ahead of Dr. Peste. The Alpha approached from the darkness. He had been using his dark energy to conceal himself against the wall. He had heard of this man, this creature before, as he had always had his eyes open for new possibilities, but he hadn't given it much thought until now. He had finally given some time to consider the capabilities of the man before him. Even though his face was still shrouded in shadows and completely unreadable, it was clear that The Alpha had no intention of fighting. He didn't seem nervous, at a loss, or even remotely concerned, but he was completely focused on the entirety of his surroundings. He eyed Dr. Peste from the short distance ahead, and that made it difficult to tell if he could actually see in the all-encompassing darkness that surrounded them.

"Ah, you must be the good doctor, then?" welcomed the Alpha. His voice was deep and slightly distorted by the echo. "It is lovely to finally make your acquaintance. I am Alpha. I would like to discuss hiring you into my employ."

Commander Kenneth looked up at the new voice. He had just appeared from seemingly nowhere, and he had made almost no sound as he approached. He was completely covered in loose clothes. His face was wrapped in old bandages that left only his eyes uncovered. His eyes themselves were sunken, and they looked very tired. The air around him felt heavy and out of place. It was difficult to stay awake while he was nearby. Just looking at him seemed difficult, as the little skin that was visible on his face just didn't look quite right. He stared with little movement and relaxed arms towards Jin, Shinku, and Kenneth.

"I'm disappointed, commander. You were trusted with this operation, and all we have to show for it is two students and injuries." He sighed. Strangely, his voice was only barely muffled, and he wasn't moving his jaw as he spoke. "Ultimately, we've lost more than we will gain from this."

"No, that's bullshit!" screeched Kenneth as he slammed his fist into the dirt. "This cryomancer bitch is a hell of a lot stronger than she looks, Five! She's easily S. Rank material!" The strange man looked towards Jin. He was secretly impressed that she was able to keep her own against Kenneth, as many students struggled against his skills and mighty power. But it didn't matter now, all that mattered was bringing back something so that The Alpha wouldn't be pissed.

"That's not for me to explain to The Alpha." He began to approach Jin. "Let's take them back to headquarters and deal with the problem later."

When she heard another voice speak, she barely even noticed and was immediately under the affects of the air around this mysterious man named Five. She fell onto one knee, using her sheathed sword as a crutch to lean on as she listened onto the conversation the two had about capturing them and bringing them back to this 'Alpha.' She didn't want to allow it and it seems she would be at a disadvantage here being under the effects. It was definitely hard to stay awake. She started moving, forcing herself to get up and ran a bit wobbly towards Shinku. She freed her from the ice cage and called out to her. "Shi-Shinku..." Hyunjin managed to utter before she grabbed Shinku's hand and started making a break for it. However, she hoped that Shinku wasn't under the effects as well.

."Didn't even smell you mate. I'm just happy that I can get the hell out of this sewer. Now about my employment I can do anything you need. Murder done. Need scouting my rats. The Alpha gave no emotional response, as usual. He simply approached the rat man and looked down upon him from his great height.

"Excited, it seems. You'll be entered in the Upper Echelon as an S. Rank. Maintain your duties well and you'll surely be funneled into one of my Elites. I could use a new Six." He turned and started towards one of the exits. The shadows that had been plastered against the wall received back into The Alpha. "I won't be sending you for assassinations too frequently, but I have several other tasks which you could complete for me. The first thing I'll ask you to do is to keep a few of your pets posted within the Academy so that we can keep a good eye on new students. For now, why don't you head to one of the hidden bases we have posted in the neutral territories?" The Alpha left a small piece of paper on the floor detailing directions to a small base. Then, the shadows enveloped him once more and took him out of the sewer.

The mysterious person simply known as 'Five' looked away from his argument to see the two students attempting their escape. He wasn't about to let either of them get away so easily, not after losing several soldiers in a routine grab 'n' go procedure. He held out his palm towards the two, his eyes glowed from underneath the bandages, and energy began to fill the air.

The distorted voice practically spoke from inside the heads of every single person on the battlefield. The ground nearby stretched outwards in an odd distortion of vision, and escape seemed miles away from its original position. Quickly, even soldiers began to fall into a deep slumber from the sudden heavy exhaustion that emanated from Five. Somnomancy was his game, and he was going to prove the extent of his abilities to make sure that the students understood that even non-dangerous class powers could still be powerful.

Hyunjin soon felt the effects kick in and she began to slow down. She began feeling tired, exhausted, and sleepy. She even felt hopeless about escaping. Besides, it would be fine, won't it? There wasn't any point now. She also felt exhausted that she had to keep this cursed blade by her at all times. So, she thought of letting it go. That's when the blade reacted and froze Hyunjin's hand to the sheathe and made ice needles that pierced into her arm. Just about when Hyunjin was about to fall, she snapped back awake, yelling out in pain. She then remembered what was happening and carried Shinku over her shoulder and sprinted into the forest. Again, it seemed like she blinked from her original position to her new position, a good five yards around the corner of a building. There was something special about Hyunjin, and it wasn't about her Cryomancy abilities. In fact, it didn't even seem that Hyunjin knew what she had been doing most of the time. Kenneth would most likely be right about her being S. Rank material.

When she and Shinku made it deep into the forest, Hyunjin gave Shinku a piggyback ride with her free arm. Her other arm, holding her sword in which the ice had receded and froze over the wounds so she wouldn't bleed. However, she couldn't run for long. They would probably catch up to her anyway. So, Hyunjin found a bushy area and hid Shinku there. She left her a note that she went somewhere else to lead whatever could be tracking them elsewhere away from her. So Shinku would be safe and Hyunjin was still on the run. Hopefully she could buy Shinku some time to recover and head back to the school to report what happened today.

As Jin's hand froze the mysterious figure Five pulled back in surprise. The illusions receded back to normal, and the heavy aura disappeared. He watched them disappear into the forest. One of two remaining soldiers started to run after the two, but Five held his hand to stop them. He placed his hand to his chin and lost himself in deep thought. Kenneth slammed his hand into the dirt again and screeched curses towards the sky as he forced himself to his feet. He stumbled over to his superior and grabbed the man by the shirt and pulled him close. Five seemed unphased, despite the bloody breath that violated his nose.

"Why did you let them go you stupid fuck?!" demanded Kenneth. "We almost had them!"

"Relax, Commander." Five shoved Kenneth back to the ground. "They're gone, that may be true, but we've learned something very interesting about them." Five turned and started to walk off. His feet made almost no sound against the dirt. "Time to head home, everyone. Pack up and head to the rendezvous." The stirring soldiers sleepily followed after him. Two soldiers stopped by Kenneth to help him to his feet, but Kenneth recognized one of them as the one that shot him before and punched him down. He struggled on his own and followed after the Elite. Behind them, the remainders of the village turned to cinders. Any survivors would have fled in the time that Kenneth and the girls fought. By tomorrow, there'd be nothing left of the society that had developed itself there.

After Shinku and Jin got away from the town, they headed to the forest in search for their supervisor. While Shinku was getting carried by Jin, she noticed as they ran that Jin was starting to slow down. Shinku was then put down behind a bush and Jin ran into the forest once again.

Shinku tried testing her physical state when she managed to recover. From the note Jin left her, she wanted Shinku to go back to the school to ask for help. Shinku hesitated. She had saw the state Jin was in and was not going to leave her to search for the rebels by herself. Shinku silently thanked her luck for not dropping her flute during the fight. She called for a pigeon with a bit of her power and wrote on the other side of the note with a blunt pencil. " Help, ' Crimson Shikigami ' and ' Jin ' are on the run tracing the rebels." Shinku wrote hastily. Then she shoved the note into the pigeons beak and sent it on its way.

Hoping her abilities don't fail her, Shinku went into the forest and put all her hopes on the acting messenger. She ran back into the town. Shinku knows better than to doubt Jin and her abilities, since Jin had saved Shinku from abduction once. But, Jin wasn't her usual self in the state she is in. So, Shinku ran through the forest with high hopes of finding Jin.

Hyunjin continued wandering the forest, convinced that the rebels weren't tracking them anymore which brought her to lean against the tree and looked at her wounds. She then looked at the sword and regretted everything she ever thought about giving up. Well, she supposed she'd have to thank the sword about saving her from capture. It saved her and Shinku both. She then swung it over and put on the strap so it could stay put behind her back as she looked for herbs to heal herself with. During her training back in the village, she was once tasked to find medicinal herbs in the mountains and learnt to apply them. So she was walking around the forest, examining the plants and whatever herbs she was looking for, she collected them and put it in her pocket. She should've brought her satchel, there was a few bandages in there. Too bad the Danger class had to move out immediately after the briefing so she didn't have enough time to prepare...

Shinku sprinted through the woods. She had just passed the town and was sure that Jin couldn't be there. Knowing Jin, even at a weak state, she would move fast. Shinku had always been a weak child from the beginning, and running was never one of her strengths. But, she had learnt how to pace herself while running so her stamina won't be used that quickly.

Shinku tried not using her abilities that often as she ran. Her medication supply is running low from just now, so she had to adapt not using her abilities to find Jin right away. Thankfully, she didn't run into the rebels from before. Shinku had half expected the leader to step out of their hiding place and throttle the Dangerous Ability Type children for slaughtering their members.

As Shinku ran, she caught a scent of blood nearby. Jin had gotten a few injuries during her assault on the commander of the terrorists, and the blood didn't seem to be stopping when Shinku saw her earlier. She ran towards the scent of metallic blood and saw a familiar shadowy figure ahead. Deciding she should approach quietly, Shinku silently dashed towards the figure.

Hyunjin soon found enough herbs she needed to complete the healing process. She did the basic steps to treating her wounds. She'd have to disinfect the wound and then apply the medicine afterwards. She'd have to cover it with cloth but since she didn't have any, she just froze ice over them so it would stay in place. She then sat against a tree to catch her breath. She looked up at the sky, being covered by the tree's leaves and branches. Finally, a moment of peace. Perhaps a small nap would do her good right about now...

She drifted off to a nap, haven't really set up any defenses considering the rebels weren't following her and she hadn't seen any animals that would be considered a threat. In fact, she actually saw no animals in the forest except for a bunny or a few birds. Taking her nap, she had a moment to rest. The next time she'd wake up, she'll be faced with more problems and a slight dilemma...

Alvar Madoka's POV

Alvar sat at his desk in silence. Two of his new Dangerous Ability Type Students are goners, leaving him about eight more student agents remaining. Then, he heard a tap at his window behind him. The Headmaster turned around in shock. It was a white pigeon. It had a note in its beak. Alvar pulled the pigeon in and read the note.

After reading the note, the Headmaster smirked. Seems like those two are useful after all, Alvar thought to himself. He sat down with the note in front of him as he thought of various schemes. After moments of consideration, he took his microphone and connected it to the school's internal speakers. " Professor Alexander Bell, please report to the Headmaster's Office immediately. A urgent case has presented itself. " the Headmaster said. Now, he just had to wait.

A new student spoke up, and Alex was woken from his thoughts. His eyes had drifted to the floor, and he had grown momentarily distant.

“Hm?” He had almost forgotten what he had been saying. “Oh, yes, I guess what I’m trying to get at is, ever since I’ve been teaching here, your Headmaster has continually called away Dangerous Ability students for various missions of some sort. I don’t usually get invited to these things, and those who do don’t speak of them. It’s all so hush-hush. And it’s not like these Dangerous Ability students are better equipped to handle ‘missions’. They’re not the most powerful, the most skilled, the most knowledgeable. They’re simply students who have been given powers that are either deemed too dangerous for the Headmaster to not be involved in their education, or who have so little control of their abilities that they are considered dangerous until they’ve developed said control.” Alex paused for a moment, his eyes drifting again, before he continued. “Makes you wonder what the Headmaster’s got up his sleeves, doesn’t it? Why else all the secrecy? And not all students return from every mission, so what is gained from these outings that is so worth the cost of a young child’s life? Really, all I’m saying is—“
The Headmaster’s voice sounded overhead, calling for him specifically to respond.
“Dammit,” he hissed, his shoulders slumping as he looked back at his class. “Um, I guess I could try and tell you to stay and read chapters one through three until I return—if I return,” he whispered under his breath, “but honestly, just ponder the questions I’ve posed and I guess I’ll see you at the next class...maybe. Who knows these days.”

Professor Bell paused for a moment, gave his class one last glance (they were shaping up to be his favorite yet), and disappeared out the door.

Ten minutes later, Alex was at the Headmaster’s office door. He knocked, and waited for acknowledgement with his hands stuck religiously in his coat pockets. Finally, he stepped through the door, returning his hand to his pocket once it was available.

“Sir?”

When Professor Bell arrived into the office, Alvar remained silent until he closed the door behind him. " Sir ? " Professor Bell asked with clear annoyance behind his words. Alvar smiled. " Now, as you know, you are one of the most skilled operatives in this school. Two of the Dangerous Ability Type students were facing the rebels and are currently tracking them down. " the Headmaster told Alexander, " I need you to find and follow those two, wait till they are caught or found in the rebel's base. Then, you'll contact me and launch an attack upon the rebels until the other private eyes arrive. "
