Forget It, Shoot Me
Dear Hunter,
Our world is coming to a close and with the earthen cries, monsters rise from the depths who have slumbered for a megaannum. They, too, fear the end of the world. Please come to the internal wound and stop the coming doom. Only then, may we sleep once again. The sound of the ghostly cries disappear from your thoughts with the scent of blood trailing off.
Tooth and Claw: Hunters for Blood
Taking place in a world where hunting monsters is a common practice, there is a sudden change in the ecosystem causing an increase in their appearance or more aggressive cases. These monsters are large or sometimes small, armored in scales, or covered in fur. Perhaps hiding underground while others are high above watching you from a distance. Either way, you are no stranger to the occurrence as it's in your blood to hunt down such threats.
Wherever you have come from is of little importance as what matters is you've received a mysterious calling. The scent of blood leads you to a large encampment located near the Gaia's Scar. A large crack in the Earth that had appeared recently that leads far below into complete darkness. There is not enough information regarding Gaia's Scar but some suspect a large monster created it, while others suspect it's something more. Something causing the sudden change in monster behavior.
Join the encampment made of other hunters such as yourself and determine the source of the sudden changes. When you're resting up you can enjoy drinks, food, chatter, dancing, and whatever else your little heart desires. Just don't forget how you ended up here...
Ah, welcome! You are no surprising sight as we have been getting many like you, who claim to have followed the scent of blood. While it is strange, I must say, we're pleased to have you as the monsters have made our research difficult. My name is Yaeger, I'm the Head Researcher of this encampment. Our team headed out here to investigate the sudden appearance of the split in the Earth. Then, one day, hunters such as yourself started appearing.
Hunters are just how they sound. People who head out in the world to hunt down monsters of all sizes and shapes. You will be playing as a hunter who just arrived at an encampment known as Yae'Gura (or Yae), named after the Head Researcher Yaeger. For some strange reason, hunters explain that they came to the encampment after following a scent similar to that of blood. There are no other races aside from humans, as they do not exist in this world. While there have been many monsters inhabiting this world, it has always been between you and them. Your life revolves around slaying monsters for the coin, protection, enjoyment, or some other ideology.
There is no limitation when it comes to basic gear for your hunter. Compatible weapons are listed with each class but are open to creativity, and there is no direct magic in this world. All gear must be approved before participating to ensure it fits with standards. IF your gear is made of monster parts, you must fill out the monster creation template so it can be included into the lore.
However, your whole time isn't revolved around hunting. You most certainly can pick up a hobby like cooking or blacksmithing, go for drinks, make friends and more. Those with major hobbies that benefit others can create crafting lists with needed ingredients to benefit others. The GM does oversee this to ensure everyone is being fair.
Warrior
The Warrior Class are hunters who rely on brute strength above all else and use a large range of weapons to eliminate a target. Warriors are a pretty standard class among hunters and the largest utilized class. Great for beginners who are not sure what they want to do starting out. A popular motto among the hunters is; "If you have two hands, you have two weapons."
Pros:
+ Able to do a lot of damage in a short amount of time.
+ Has a large range of weapons to choose from.
Cons:
- Lacks sufficiency when it comes to the range or airborne monsters.
- Have to care for their weapons more often due to frequent brutal attacks against tough materials.
Weapon List:
- Sword(s)
- Greatsword
- Axe
- Cleaver
- Shield
- etc. (All weapons are non-magical)
Ranger
The Ranger Class specializes in using long-range guns to deal significant damage from afar if they were to target sensitive areas. While not the most accurate class, Rangers are able to utilize specialized bullets that could do non-direct damage like poison or paralyze a target. This class is great for people who don't like being directly in the fight and accel in assessing the distance.
Pros:
+ Great for ranged or airborne enemies.
+ Able to use specialized bullets.
Cons:
- Suffers in close combat.
- Must frequently restock on ammo.
Weapon List:
Rifle
Sniper
(All guns must be manual, self-loading, and considered antique or lacking modernization)
Enchanter
What the Enchanter Class lacks in combat makes up for in utility. Enchanters are able to create concoctions to heal wounds or imbue weapons with a temporary element, or non-direct damaging ailments like poisons. Any party would be smart enough to have an enchanter with them or at least make concoctions for them on the side before heading out on a mission.
Pros:
+ Able to craft a wide variety of potions.
+ Resistant to a lot of ailments.
Cons:
- Does poorly in battle and has little use in direct combat.
- Has to gather ingredients before creating potions.
Beast Caller
When there are so many monsters in the world, only one of the highest understanding of such a creature could truly call upon it. Beast Callers can call upon a monster to assist in battle temporarily or use to assist over difficult terrain. However, they are the least liked class by many. Some Beast Callers may use select weapons.
Pros:
+ Able to call a wide range of monsters to assist at a time.
+ Flexible in combat depending on skills.
Cons:
- Highly distrusted by many and are most often known to suffer from mental health problems like depression.
- Limited range of weapons.
- Can only have a monster temporarily controlled before they may become aggressive or disappear.
Weapon List:
Sword
Dagger
Lance
(Short Range or Mid Range, Single Handed)
General
There's a large index of monsters awaiting to be discovered in the world with players given the opportunity to create their own to face in a group. Each monster has a weak point, and something special about them. An Index will be updated as more monsters are created and have the chance to reappear in the story. While in Yae'Gura, there will be a mission board listing possible monsters running rampant. Hunters can form groups to take them down. An example is listed below. The GM dictates what's on the mission board at that point in time.
Combat
There is no dice system to determine the outcome of a battle but do expect your characters to struggle. If you determine there are issues with the execution from another player, I'll look it over and go from there. For this RP, we will be using the Trust System. Players should be able to work with their fellow teammates to take down a monster (or two) without controlling others (unless allowed) within a few posts unless they are struggling. It has not been determined if mission/quests should be in separate threads while encampment thread should remain as the main thread.
