Nicolaos Vascou
There was nothing more annoying than a swamp hydra. Not only was the creature large like a bull elephant, it breathed copious amounts of poison and has blood so strong that inhaling a little of it was enough to bring most grown men to there knees. Nicolaos was unlike many grown men. A black blood stained sword sliced through on of the hydra heads, it's user rolling away moments before two heads began to reform. Another annoying feature of the beast. Golden lightning shot forth with a resounding crackle and the two growing heads were viciously cauterized into nothing but blackened flesh. "You couldn't have done that BEFORE they began to form?!" The swordsman -a Dark elf with purple skin and silver eyes- yelled to his companion while parrying one of the hydra's claw attacks. "Where's the fun in that?" Nicolaos spoke in amusement, watching from a withdrawn distance. The hydra, with only four heads remaining, gave a vile shriek and made to release a stream of green poison breath at the mage. It was easily blocked by the broad frame of there tank, magical shield forming outwards and covering the three of them safely in a dome of orange magic. "Could you two just focus on the mission? I'd like to go back to the guild before my wife leaves on her next mission for two weeks." Her words came out nearly monotone despite her muscles straining to uphold her large shield, only lowering it when the poison had dissipated enough to continue the fight.

Nicolaos glanced at his comrade then back at the monster, a string of lightning jumping from his hands up to his neck and flying off him like golden sparks. It been several hours of cutting off the heads, watching the regenerating heads, cutting them again and cauterizing them. He had gone through a decent portion of his mana reserves and honestly, the swamp stink was giving him a headache.

“Another one? Bullshit Az, I’m gonna have to cut you off until you pay your damn tab, I can’t have you getting drunk again and buying the whole bar a round of drinks THAT YOU CAN’T AFFORD”. The bartender slammed his fist into the pine bar four times to emphasise those last words. The woman in front of him laughed. “Whattttt, when have I ever done that?” Az gave Delfy a big toothy grin showing off her pearly whites. Delfy rolled his eyes and smacked the tab in front of her. “Az, your bloody tab will cause this tavern to go under now pay up”. Looking at the tab her eyes went wide as she sat up straight flabbergasted at the amount. “What is thissss”. Delfy was now the one grinning "I swear you are the most in debt person in the Bluewater Region". The tab was long enough it could have rolled end to end of the tavern. She grit her teeth handing him back the tab and walked over to the quest board.

Stupid Delfy, stupid gold, stupid quests. Looking at the board she groaned slowly leaning forward planting the top of her head onto it as she turned to look at Delfy. He was too busy serving another customer to notice her dramatics. As she lifted her head she bumped a piece of paper off the board. Leaning over she picked it up from the floor. It wasn't written in the normal quest formatting which was weird considering was from the palace. Despite it's suspicious nature the wax seal with the emblem was legit. Apparently someone needed to transport the princess but it said males only? God that was so bullshit. Who in their right mind even puts this stuff on a quests. That way of thinking was archaic. Plus wouldn't the King want a woman to transport his daughter over some strange greasy dude. Az was getting fired up, even if it was a two day journey to get to the castle she'd show them. Plus the royals usually paid pretty well.

She headed back over to the bar and threw a bag of gold she had in her waist bag at the back of the bartenders head. "What the
hell-". "Your welcome, byeeee" Az said waving the piece of paper before going out the door. Hopefully that half of what she got from her last quest would help him out until she had saved some more. The thought of her being the cause of Delfy's Tavern going under made her anxious. Plus, she felt she'd taken advantage of his kindness too long, like as long as her tab too long.

Nicolaos Vascou
It felt about the right time to finish the fight. The hydra was bordering on exhaustion, two of its heads looking around as if to find a way of escape. Poisonous gas was not be expelled from it's mouth as quickly as it had been earlier, leaving more opportunities of attack for his two companions. Nicolaos clapped his hands together, whispering unclear words under his breathe and slowly separating his hands to reveal intricate webs of gold lightning. The more his hands came apart, golden tendrils began to intermingle with scarlet to create a beautiful orb of red and gold electricity. A cry of pain resounded from the dark elf who had been knocked to the ground; a hydra tail pushed on the man, grinding his body further into the mud despite his struggling.

"Nico! If you're going to do something, do it now!" He sputtered out, landing a brutal kick on the heavy tail but not moving it in the slightest. The beast gave a hiss, one of the heads slinking down to open it's maw at the caught prey while the remaining three twisted together in a tell tale sign of poison buildup. It's chest fluttered out dramatically, nostrils flared and pupils becoming narrow slits. Nicolaos began to walk forward, balancing the now grapefruit sized orb in his left hand, his own golden eyes taking on a viscous glow. His pupils -normally rounded like pearls- looked like an exploding star. In tandem, the hydra took a deep inhale and threw it's head forward, jaws opening to reveal the sheer depth of it's throat.

Nico could just barely make out the forming cloud of gas near there uvulas and taking the chance he was granted, thrust the orb forward and watched it split into three smaller orbs. Crackles and pops echoed in the swamp as one orb entered each Hydra head, making contact with the gas. The chain reaction it elicited was perfect. It reared back in confusion and shock, tail releasing the trapped elven man and allowing the tank to help him move out of the way. Nicolaos watched in amusement as the large body of the Hydra began to bloat in odd intervals, shrieking uncontrollably at the pain it was feeling. Seconds turned into minutes, the monster pausing in it's screaming fit. "What the f-" Before the swordsman could finish his sentence, the Hydra exploded from the inside in a dramatic effect of skin, black blood and organs.

It rained down like a summer shower, the orange magic of the shield the only thing blocking the downpour over the heads of the three adventurers. All that remained of the long fight was the fourth head, dead as dead could be and bubbling slowly into the swamp depths. Nico seemed rather pleased with himself, eyes settling back to a molten hue and brushing his hands together calmly. His two companions looked at him disgusted by what just happened but otherwise used to the antics of the mage.

"Ready to go back to the Twin Dragons?" He spoke to them, hands on his hips and walking out from the shield well after the bloody rain had stopped.

Az looked pitifully at the hand of the stable manager which was now full of her gold coins. God when did renting horses get so expensive. This way at least she was closer to the captial. “My ass hurts,” she muttered to herself. She had been riding since before dawn today but then again that was the best way to get her money’s worth since it was per day. On top of that it had taken longer than necessary since she had ridden this long on a horse for aeons. The sun was setting and she needed a place to stay., “How much is it to stay in a tavern here a night”. “35 gold.” “A NIGHT?”. Grumbling, she turned away counting her coins. If she wanted to rent the horse she could get to the capitol one half day from wherever this place was. If she wanted to save the money and walk it would take a full day. Plus sore legs instead of a sore ass. Either way she couldn’t afford a meal, a horse and a room.

After getting directions she made her way to the cheapest tavern in town. At least that’s what she was told. Still a goddamn 30 a night. Apparently the food was good though. She waltzed in and sat in a booth. Usually she would be at the bar talking shit with Delfy but with strangers she wasn’t so open. Once someone started talking to her though or she got a few drinks down that wasn’t an issue. They didn’t call it liquid confidence for nothing. But her coin bag was getting awfully light. Az was starting to worry if picking a quest so far out was a good idea. Maybe she shouldn’t have given Delfy half of all she had. No, she knew she needed to do that last one. However, this was a wake up call to try and manage her money better and maybe be a bit less of an alcholic.

“What can I get for you”, “I’ll take the turkey leg with mash and peas, with the gravy on the side please and a pale ale”. Az folded up her menu and handed it back to the waitress. Looking around she observed the place, the people. The atmosphere wasn’t half bad. They had some bards in the corner playing some pretty good tunes. Being a bard at a tavern would be a pretty good income. There were actually a lot of ways to keep a regular income but Az was stubborn. Once an adventurer, always an adventurer. One time Delfy was so worried about her financial situation he actually offered her a job, waitressing. Then she just complained about drunks who might smack her ass and how she would probably body them. For a female mage Az was fairly built. She liked to keep up her physical strength as she believed it was just as important as her magic. It wasn’t long before she was given and eating her meal.

“What do you mean you're full?”. “We’re the cheapest tavern in town, of course we’re full”. Az slumped on the bar. “You gotta be kidding, it’s started raining”. Az’s eyes turned towards the window pane looking out into the wet and cold. She could stay here until they closed at midnight and then sleep outside or something?
