The Thundering Mustelid
June 5th- 9:56Am
Omega city -Ebony tower, Deucalions penthouse.

The most powerful man in the world now sat helpless on his couch sipping wine as the PCPD searched through the Fragmented mess that was once his sons room. In his head the ratfolk were responsible and they would pay for this. Yet his friends had talked him into this full blown investigation, and were kind enough to bring wine and cigars so he figured he would at least be a little civil. Yet three glasses and half an hour in and the CEO was a bit less restrained. "Oh come on...how long does it take to scan a damned room. You assholes better not be trying to guide the evidence." he said as he began to rise to waltz towards the room, only for August to calm him down and get him back in the couch. "Look boss, i hand picked these "assholes" they are the best forensics officers in PCPD they arent gonna risk their lives and jobs by lying to you. Besides i sent the courier to get Caraphet, once they get the Data Nick will find your kid in two days tops." Deuc seemed appeased as he sat back down and poured another glass before changing the subject. "That flying chick? She was hella lucky if you ask me, a really cool Variant, even cooler than you guys. Speaking of...Castor is your crib still radioactive? Otto told me you got one of those old margarita machines from the 20th century." he grinned knowing the answer but taking a jab at his buddies nonetheless.

Omega Marine Barracks.

Nick stood on the balcony overlooking the holo training room as Moe tore his way through the simulated squads. The cyborg marine fired Three round bursts in rapid succession, casually smashing any who came within melee range of his latest cybernetic augmentation. Finally he ran out of ammo and went full melee for the last few targets before reaching the end of the simulation. Looking up at the buzzer he grinned. "Four more seconds old man." he said as he excitedly made his way towards the stairs. "Four seconds is an eternity in combat Steel. Close the gap, then be proud." nick said in a calm voice as he opened the door behind him waiting for moe to catch up before progressing through the threshold towards the mess hall. "hopefully you wont need to learn this the hard way, ive got a new station. For you, you ve got D-Ex detail for the next two weeks." this actually wiped the grin off of Moe's face. "Desert exploration?!? How is that fair? Thats rookie duty." he said clearly disgruntled however Nick just answered with "I didnt say it was fair, i said you will be doing it for two weeks. Fairness is irrelevant, we all have our Duty Steel."

Southern Panorama City Gate
10:01am

The stark black hover limousine pulled to the front of the gate line and the soldiers at the gates stiffened up. As the door opened Otto stepped out clad in a fancy suit. Behind him were two aides one male and one female. Both were clad in all black suits, and though the untrained eye wouldnt notice, beneath their jackets were photon storm sub machine guns and on their hips were Plasma sabers. They walked in perfect unison with perfect poise, not breaking stride as one clipped a cigar and placed it between the older mans fingers. He placed it to his lips and at the same moment the other guard applied a torch to it. He puffed out a rather large cloud of smoke as the doors opened in front of him and he stepped into the airlock area. He drew the eyes of all nearby but he did not return their gaze instead walking with purpose to the C.O. "Good morning officer. Im looking for two men. Alec Schluyer, and Mihkal Jarve i assure you they are in no trouble." he smiled softly at the commanding officer, which did little to to alleviate their obvious nervousness. Neither did the two agents standing with him scanning every person subtly behind their sunglasses.

She was one of the fastest woman in the world, able to run at 600 miles per hour on foot and fly at Mach 2.5. She wove in and out of traffic and narrowly avoiding skyscrapers. Her boss had sent her on an errand. To receive Nick Carahalt.

She looked around in the city, feeling a sense of safety within the city walls. Trisha had been in this city her entire life, surrounded by Omega Corp police and tech. To her, the fact that Omega Corp controlled everything was perfectly normal and part of everyday life. She didn’t see anything bad about the monopoly that surrounded her. She actually felt safe with Omega Corp.

Then there were the terrorists. The fucking terrorist. Just the thought of them made her blood boil. They had scarred her during one of their bombings, a slash across her eye that never fully healed.

She was so preoccupied that she nearly missed her designation. But she didn’t.

The barracks. Where they trained soldiers. This is where the man she needed was. No doubt they saw her flying toward them. She landed in the middle of the field and walked toward the stimulations, where she had no doubt Nick was.

Alec hummed a tune to himself as the ATHEIA skimmed across the wasteland toward panorama city, trying to ignore the smell of dried worm guts on everyone's uniforms. Panorama City loomed ahead, its walls throwing shadows a mile long. Maybe another five minutes and they'd be at the gate.

As much as Alec disliked the smell, the sandworm carcass really had been a good find. Freshly dead, and close enough to the city that they could bring it in before it started to decompose. They'd get to use the nice toys on this one. Maybe their findings would even convince the board to give them that grant.

At last they reached the gate. Alec pulled the ATHEIA to a stop and punched in a code to alert the system. A moment later, the gate slid open, hissing from the release of the airlock.

Alec didn't pay much attention as he pulled the ATHEIA into its usual parking spot. His mind was already in research mode: going over which tests they would need run on the sandworm carcass, trying to work out the equations they would need in his head. He swung the AETHIA into its spot and cut the power. It thudded gently onto its tires.

Alec pulled open the door to the AETHIA and jumped out. "I'll grab one of the cargo transports," he called over his shoulder. He started around the front of the hovercraft toward where the transports were.

That was when he noticed that the airlock was dead-quiet. Then that everyone was staring at Mihkal and him. Then he saw the official standing in the doorway, flanked by two guards.

Alec stared. He leaned back towards Mihkel. "Is that Otto Coreolis?" he whispered. "The Otto Coreolis? Why is he staring at us?"

Castor took the remark with a side of salt, he smirked seeing that Deucalion had cheered up since the.... Unfortunate accident had just occurred. Of course the smoking and drinking played a part in lightening the mood. "Sure of course flying has it's perks but I'm proud of my ability to take people's breath away." Castor paused "Also of course I've got to keep it marvelously toxic, and the 20th century stuff adds some character to the place, my favorite has got to be the old lottery machines. They would have be so easy to rig." He chuckled but internally questioned the mention of Otto. He always questioned how much the man knew, just offhanded mention of him raised his guard.
Castor cleared his throat and looked at August "I'd bet every dollar on me it's rebels. They think they can just make these little 'scenes' and- Know what, nah they'll all get what's coming to them."
He recomposed himself, reaching in his pocket for a cigarette. Having since learned how to smoke with his mask on, he slid the lit cigarette underneath and began smoking.

Mihkel exited the ATHEIA, inspecting the treasure that he and his companion, Alec, and discovered. An juvenile spadehead sandworm, only 60 meters in length, far from the much larger adults, reaching 200 meters. As Alec pulled into the airlock, he exited the vehicle, and began to examine their find.

As Alec commented on the possibility of the grant, Mihkel shot back: "Maybe, this specimen for sure will provide some excellent data on the biology of the worms." He took off the hazmat suit that had donned his body, a Hazmat ARES. He took a small breather, and then proceeded. "Maybe we'll find something to sell, make some lubricant from the mucus?"

Mihkel laughed, before noticing what had companion had, Otto Coreolis. He paused for a brief moment before assuming a professional state, and strode over to greet this unexpected visitor.

"Mr. Coreolis, what can we provide for you today? Inspection of the wall defenses, the creation of new defenses? Or just some interesting facts about these magnificent monstrocities we call sandworms?"

The Ebony tower,
Deucalions penthouse

Deucalion actually smirked at Castors comment about taking peoples breath away. Yet his focus was taken as the lead investigator stepped out of his sons room. The man looked very nervous as if he was walking towards a bomb. "Uh sir...we believe we have compiled the evidence into a holo-projection you may wamt to take a look at it." the investigator produced the hologram projection sphere and waited for deucalion go ahead before turning it on.

It fliclered to life unleashing several beams of light which seemed to weave together into a transparent model of Josephs room before it was trashed. The door opened suddenly in the hologram and in came joseph with an upset look on his face. He sat on his bed for a few seconds before he flipped over the nightstand in a rage tossing the lamp across the room before turning his attention to his bed easily flipping the mattress and grabbing the box spring and doing the same. He continued to trash his room with seemingly no plan in mind before he stepped into his closet grabbing a backpack full of clothes several of which fell out as he proceeded oit his room and thus out of the hologram.

After wards the holographic projector shut down. "If we are correct he will have grabbed some food or other supplies. Best to monitor his bank accounts. The final conclusion is that he ran away...do you have any reason why he would do that? deucalions seeming lack of reaction seemed to give the officer a reason to relax a bit. However he still flinched when deuc got up and walked from the couch to his office. He promptly did a beeline for his computer and upon reaching it he clacked in the entry code and immediately a look of anger flooded his face. "FIND HIM, NOW!" he said swatting his computer across the room with his prostetic arm causong it to explode in a shower of sparks and metal fragments.

As he did this August arched an eyebrow and drew his phone tapping on it and pulling up the file that was last on Deucalions computer. When he saw it his eyes widened and he held the phone for Castor to see. It displayed the plans for the anti-powered Battle drone project that deucalion had begun six months ago. A small file pulled up over that however showed how josephs power had contributed to their design. Which explained deucalions reaction. His disgruntled son had just ran away with top secret information that could crush the rebellion... And worse the tiny window tgat said download complete showed that he made a copy.

Omega Marine Barracks

Nick listened as Moe made his case against desert detail but he promptly shut his down with a well placed. "Your Dismissed." causing the large metal armed man to grumble as he walked away. However as he noticed the girl touch down ,Nick turned his gaze from his suboordinate to her. "I wasn't told you would be here today...so im assuming its one of those straight from the top kinda missions." he said casually as he approached the Courier. The young woman had made quite a name for herself, acting as the hermes to this pantheon of men that now ruled the world. "So how can i help you ma'am."

Southern Panorama City Gate

Otto stood patiently by the hosts counter watching as the two men made their way into the gate his mouth spread into a grin as he watched them pulling in the worm carcass. A good sign given why he was here, they were after all trying to build a profit off of these beasts, and capturing them showed promise. He still waited for them to come to him after all, he was in his nineties, if it was one thing he had it was patience. As the the one named Alex approached him he was pleased to hear the mans cordial tone and responded with a similar smooth tone. "A bit of both my good sir, you and your cohort recently applied for a rather large loan from the Omega bank...i am here on the banks behalf to appraise the value of your proposal. I am to understand that you are attempting to construct a research facility to study these magnificent monstrosities as you so eloquently put it. Well the floor is yours. Tell me why I should invest in you Young men and your ideas feel free to take me on a tour if it helps." he spoke calm and evenly seeming to radiate both Authority and Respect for Alec. He puffed his cigar and waved his two escorts away. The two of them walked in perfect syncronisation towards opposite sides of the hanger, standing inhumanly still against the wall. He then gestured for Mihkiel to join them.

Trisha immediately straightened the moment Nick addressed her.

“He requires your assistance immediately, sir.”. Trisha said as smoothly as possible, unaware of the relevance she is putting on the word “he”. “The top of the top.” She clarified in case Nick somehow doesn’t get it. “There’s been a break in on his property, and he needs you. The rest is sensitive information best kept away from prying ears.” She looked at him pointedly then eyes the rest of the soldiers.

Castor watched the playback of what happened on Deucalion's sons room. So he wasn't kidnapped, just a delinquent teenager. He almost made the mistake of laughing, however he saw Deucalion unleash his rage on his computer. He shielded his eyes from the sparks and looked at the wreckage. His boss was pissed and that made it dangerous for everyone in the general vicinity. He was going to make an attempt at talking him down but his attention was brought to August.
He looked at the phone with widening eyes as he saw what Deucalion's son had stolen. So it wasn't the normal teenage rebellion... The kid had an agenda. He nodded at August showing he understood then went to approach Deucalion "Listen boss, I know August is already on this but I'd like to personally lend a hand. I still feel like there might be rebel involvement..."

Alec took a deep breath and followed Mihkal to adress Otto Coreolis. There wasn't anything to be nervous about. The executive hadn't said anything was wrong. For all Alec knew, Coreolis was here to approve their grant. Not that he couldn't be here for other -

Alec felt his draw drop. Coreolis was actually here for the pitch. Alec closed his mouth and took a second to gather his thoughts. He'd gone over the pitch so many times he could have recited it on his deathbed. He stepped forward and started.

"Absolutely, sir. As you likely know, Panorama City has a population of 500,000,000 people, and our newfound methods for immortality means that number will only grow. Experts project that the city's population will surpass that of pre-war Europe within the next ten years, if not sooner. Our current methods for procuring rescources are nothing short of a miracle of engineering, but they cannot support that many people. If we can't feed the people subscibed to the life tax, they'll stop trusting in it. Even if they continue to buy from us, we have the highly likely possibility that millions of people would starve.

"The main question, then, is where to gather more rescources. We don't have room for more agri-towers in the city; that land will be needed for housing. The Canadian Bogland is also out of the question. That leaves us with the wasteland.

"Our research faculity holds two purposes, both pertaining to exploiting the wasteland's rescources. The south wing, the wing I will be taking charge of, will be dedicated to producing strains of crops capable of growing in the wasteland. We have been making great progress to breeding the first radiation-resistant crops - as I would be more than happy to show you in our laboratory - and a dedicated facility would allow us to make progress on a much larger scale. Similarly, my partner will be studying the viability of sandworms as livestock."

Mihkel was quick to pick up on where Alec had left off.

"We have since long known of a herbivorous species of sandworm, but now today we will be able to discover what these invertebrates eat, and begin domestication of the flora. Along with that, larval forms of the Mokar sandworm are rich in nutrients and vitamins, and, with the proper study and discovery, we should fully begin to cultivate the sandworms as a general source of food." Mihkel paused for a second, regaining his breath. "But that is not all."

"The north wing of the facility would focus completely on the research of the worms. It would include five one-hundred meter examination tables, five ten meter examination tables, five HERMES drones, five ARES suits. Following that, the facility would have access to two HEEV Trilobites, and one HCT Arcturus. Although, the worms as livestock is not the only goal of the facility."

Mihkel paused again.

"Within the facility, if we can get the grant, would rest a worm containment sphere. An acrylic sphere four-hundred meters in diameter, one-and-a-half meter thick. The sphere would be suspended six meters off of the ground by ten two meter thick titanium pillars around the circumference. Inside the acrylic sphere, 85% of the internal surface would consist of aerogel spheres, ranging in diameter from five to one millimeter in diameter to mimic the sand. An electromagnetically sealed opening at the top would allow the HCT Arcturus to deposit living worm specimens into the containment sphere."

Mihkel, after that spew of words, cleared his throat.

"We would require twenty-nine staff for this project. Five scientists for the north wing, five scientists for the south wing, ten engineers, and nine pilots."
