Answered this may be a bug. not completely sure.

for some reason, the toolbar isn't letting me click on anything. i was able to use it yesterday, though. i'm not sure what's going on with it.

Look at the gear button at the far right. Is it green? If so, the RTE (Rich Text Editor -- basically, the buttons) is turned off. Click on it to turn it back on and you should be able to click on the buttons again.

Side note: if you plan on doing a lot of BBcode, I recommend keeping it off. It likes to be "helpful" and insert coding tags when they aren't always necessary, which breaks things sometimes.
