-Defined by his highly rational mind, William may seem like a no-nonsense person as he barely shows his emotions nor does he engage in many social activities. While he does prefer to be by his lonesome, a quick conversation with him would reveal a meme-loving, fact-spitting and friendly person who simply feels at ease at home. William is normally very nonchalant and lazy, pushing tasks away to instead satisfy his never-ending curiosity by absorbing articles or videos about science or other ‘big brain activity’, as he calls it. Tasks that are deserving of his motivation, however, get completed in a quick, optimal way with utmost passion and meticulousness.
While he adores spending time within his own head to think, William is skeptical in nature, having trouble believing in things that science hasn't proven. Emotions over logic and blind faith are concepts he has genuine trouble understanding, though he does make an effort not to berate people with those traits. … ‘Effort’ being the key word.

Backstory:
-William’s life could only be described as average. In his younger days, he was among the lucky ones able to do extremely well in school without having to study, meaning that he had a lot of time for himself. Time he liked to spend in his head -playing games, solving puzzles, reading, learning miscellaneous subjects and other nerdy activities.
Growing up, he was finally faced with the choice of his career. Hesitating at first between being a tech worker and a scientist of some kind (he fancied himself a biologist at some point), he finally chose the technological field simply because it seemed easier. Not that it stopped him from reading his magazines on the side.
Having lived a life full of hard, cold logic, William was perplexed when he started hearing about this Halloween Game -he lost the amount of times he scoffed after hearing those stories. But unfortunately for his sanity, Halloween was getting closer day by day and his group of friends began talking non-stop about the story of Lilian Hanson. Whether or not they believed in the stories didn’t matter but William had to debunk this for himself once and for all. He didn’t usually do this -too much work and all, but his curiosity has been piqued. And once that happened, he was unstoppable.
When he announced his intention of trying out the ritual to prove all of it was a hoax, he was met with disapproval from his friends, who claimed they had ‘better things to do’.

personality: Isui is a shy but determined person. Even if he can't stand up for himself, the one thing he will stand up for is the occult(more often or not in his head however). He belives in the occult with almost all of his being(he still of course doesn't believes everything, he isn't stupid), and it is a topic that will easily break him out of his shell. He doesn't relate to many people and is overall awkward to the point he avoids conversations if he can at all cost. His years of experience has left his knowledgeable in many things, often learning things due to their relation to the occult. He is a nervous wreck and has been known to have panic attacks or breakdowns due to stress or humiliation. Even still, he is a nice person, and cares for others as anyone else would, however his strong focus is on all things occult.

backstory: life drudged on the same for the isolated youth of Isui, learning to care for himself rather than depend on the missing caregivers. Rather than their absence in a physical sense, they lacked in an emotional sense, being so close yet so far. The constant arguments and battles with bitter 'make ups' and tense meals made Isui's childhood one he didn't enjoy. Well, he didn't until he met an old woman who lived two floors down from them in their apartment complex. She showed him the wonders of the world, and cared for him when there was no one else to.

she was a witch, or if you aren't a believer, claimed to be one. Some say her magic and stories were fake, but they were anything but to Isui. They gave him hope, they showed him the world could be different than what he once saw. So he spent his days with her, becoming closer to her than he ever was to his parents, escaping the pealing wallpaper of his room to the soft, herb smelling apartment of another. It wasn't until the day she passed away that his life came to a halt again. A sudden death caused by an aneurysm, he of course being the only one close to her, was also the one who found her. His only comfort was gone and he found himself wondering what he could do next. She had left all her things to Isui, he being the only 'family' she had still alive. He spent years reading her books and teachings, hanging on to the memory of her.

eventually he found himself in high school in a poorly lit storage room with a foldable table. The occult club, or what was left of it. A total of three members, two of which graduated shorty after leaving Isui to be the sole one remaining. This of course led to the ordered dismantle of the club, which of course Isui was desperate to not have. No matter how hard he tried for new members, none would come. People would laugh at him in the halls and make jokes whenever the announcements mentioned the club. Maybe it was out of faith for the old woman who never gave up no matter what, but Isui refused to disband the club, and eventually they stopped caring as the only person who used the storage room was the janitor(who had no issue with Isui setting up shop there). Spending his days being a joke to everyone, Isui was desperate for proof. A game that had proof of being real, or well enough proof for things of this nature, a simple game. Isui wanted to prove it was real for everyone to see, he only didn't expect it to work so well...

Personality: Although Emilia may not be the first to speak up, that doesn’t mean she has nothing to say. Although she may be lagging behind slightly in her academics and logical thinking, she is exceptionally skilled athletically, especially with parkour and stunts. She is quite impulsive at times, which may have caused her injuries in the past, especially if she isn’t thinking right. Independence is also something that she possesses, wanting to do almost everything by herself. She is actually quite sassy and sarcastic when she speaks and she is not prepared to back down from a challenge. She doesn’t scare easily, having grown up near abandoned buildings and ruins, in addition to listening to creepypastas and urban legends all the time. Backstory: Emilia had a normal life or at least that was what she told everyone. She grew up in a household that wasn’t her own, she was in the foster system, and was never adopted. She hoped from house to house, school to school, state to state, she lived her life in constant motion. The house she was in right now, was the one she has been at the longest. It was near some local abandoned buildings and ruins, and that piqued her interest. She loved exploring run-down places, seeing all the things she could find, climbing the walls and practicing her parkour. She had found out she had a knack for it when she was about 10 or 11, doing small stunts like jumping from tree stump to tree stump, or balancing and running across the bars of the monkey bars when she was 13 or so. But as doing parkour goes, she got her fair share of injuries, her foster parents would usually scold her for it, made her do schoolwork and lock her in her room. She would sneak out sometimes, but usually decided against it if she had a fresh injury. Contrary to people’s beliefs, Emilia didn’t really mind school and doing school work. She would just drown out the people at school with music and creepypasta podcasts, she did the same when doing school work, it made her concentrate more.

Being interested in creepypastas, she would listen and look at local legends and tales in her free time. Most of them were just the normal, apparitions, dolls moving, things used to make children behave, all in all nothing all that interesting. She would do this whenever she was free, go onto the internet and scroll mindlessly at different scary and creepy stories. It was always the same, nothing caught her attention. That was until one day, she stumbled on something that finally piqued her interest. A game, a very very interesting game. People were talking about it in the comments of the post she saw. People saying it wasn’t real, or that no one has ever survived after playing. It was said it had to be played on Halloween, luckily for her, it was right around the corner. It was time to play.

Personality: Snarky and quick-witted. Has a hard time genuinely opening up to people. Intelligent, able to empathize but has a hard time showing it. Instead, he attempts to make people laugh through jokes and sarcasm. Is pretty flirty with men he's interested in, but can be fickle enough to quickly move on after losing interest or being rejected. Is very skeptical, but is open-minded enough to be convinced with strong evidence.

Backstory: While growing up, Oakner was a typical nerd. He enjoyed video games, was shy, and was unfortunately was the victim of bullying. Eventually, he became fed up with it and started to fight back against his aggressors. He faked confidence and a give-no-fucks attitude, which gave him the label of a rebel/bad boy. The rumors seemed to keep people at bay and from bothering him, so he decided to play more into it. This led to him becoming involved with some delinquents, among who he found his love for partying and substances. He still maintained some nerdy interests though, such as video games and school, though in secret.

After graduating high school, upon entering college, he found that people were more accepting and met people who had qualities from both the identities he has kept separate. He has tried to bring them together and open up about his different interests to people, but often finds himself fearful of backlash and rejection. He ended up playing the Halloween game with a grow of people during a party as just something stupid to do while under the influence.

As a child, Oliver was fascinated by stories of the supernatural. He loved nothing more than learning about ghosts and monsters. It was, therefore, a great disappointment when he learned they were not real. As Oliver grew older, he began to focus on the world as it was, ignoring what he saw as supernatural fables, becoming quite dismissive of others superstitions

As such, Oliver was quite sceptical of the Halloween game and the supposedly supernatural cause of Lilian Hanson's disappearances. As such, his decision to "compete" has little to do with any genuine belief. Instead, Oliver hopes to document precisely how ridiculous this whole game is by playing along and bringing his camera.

Personality: Maggie is a tough nut to crack. She’s brash, blunt, and more than a little hard to get along with. Socializing is hardly her strong suit. At least, the pleasant sorts of social interaction. On the exterior she is aggressive and uncaring for those around her, yet in reality she hides a soft spot for the downtrodden and will do anything for those she cares about.

She has never been accused of being patient and is insecure about her lack of education. Punching first and asking questions later is her style of action, and more often than not she will let her emotions get the better of her, a combination that can lead to explosive outbursts. Her pessimistic outlook and dislike of most people means getting on her good side is rare, and getting a punch in the face is expected if you end up on her bad side

Backstory: Maggie was a typical high school drop out. Problems at home had overshadowed the ones in math class, and when her step dad kicked her to the curb in grade 9 she had to spend hours working rather than studying. Getting mixed up with the wrong crowds of people certainly didn’t help the situation, but it was enough to get by for the short term. At least, that was the plan.

Limited funds made leaving a gang quite difficult, and being in debt meant spending her nights doing less than legal activities. It began with a job here and there, just simple stuff, but eventually the stakes were heightened... along with the rewards. It was hard to resist at first, but with more than a few close calls with the police and the grim reaper, Maggie decided she had enough of the shit pay. She tried to break things off peacefully, and when that didn’t happen she took the money and ran. Probably wasn’t the wisest decision. Eventually her luck ran out and she was caught. After her senses were beaten back into her, she was faced with a greater debt and less time. Either she paid in cash, or in blood.

From one of her pot-smoking friends, she heard of a ghost game that granted one wish. Some girl bought a mansion with the prize, which sounded pretty good to Maggie. At this point, she had no choice but to explore every single option, no matter how insane.

Personality: Growing up with a family centered around superstitions, it was only natural that it became a huge part of Akuri. It's the reason behind most of her habits — like why she never washes her clothing at night, whistles, or kills any insect or arachnids unless they are a black spider. Akuri tends to keep to herself, being reserved in nature and not fond of small talk. She can get over-protective about her beliefs and any mention of her brother, but more often then not is morally wavering when it comes to anything else. She prefers to watch and observe, picking and choosing an underwhelming amount of battles which often frustrates those around her as it makes her seem indifferent to many injustices. She's always willing to lend an ear and keep tight lips, but has a strong disdain for gossip or any sign of self-conciet.

Though not afraid to give second or third chances to those who scre up, Akuri doesn't let them walk away unscathed.

Backstory: Akuri knows how her younger brother, Souta, disappeared. It happened in a matter of seconds — one moment he was calling to her from their backyard and the next he was no where to be seen. She's certain it's because he fell between the veil between life and death, and it's all her fault. The night of last Halloween, she practiced her Wai Kru in her room — a dance performed before each Muay Thai match to seal evil spirits outside the ring. But, she ended it prematurely after hearing Souta ask her to come down to hang out with him, snapping the protective seal. Then, Souta was gone, leaving her family devasted and unbearable amount of guilt on Akuri's chest.

Without their golden child, Akuri's parents started pressuring her to drop her hobbies and focus on either her education or the family business. Unable to deal with the constant helicoptering, she packed up and left, taking up the first job she found as a bouncer and guard for the owner of a nightclub. It didn't take long for her to realize that what happened at the club was worse than unethical. Still, she turned a blind eye, needing the money. Instead, she focused her attention on trying to figure out a way to get her brother back. She started with the superstitutions she was familiar with and then delved into new ones. Eventually she came across Lilian Hanson’s tapes and thought it was the perfect way to enter the veil between life and death.

A year later, Akuri is confident she has enough knowledge to enter this ghost game to find her brother and bring him back. And, if she couldn't bring him back naturally, she'd bring him back with a wish.

Personality: Matthew is known to be very peaceful and friendly. He usually greets people with a calm smile, happy to be around to help. He generally wants to be around a group of friends. If there isn't any around, he'll make some himself! Granted, he usually distances himself from people who seem mean or irrational. He is somewhat smart, but he more prides himself in being nimble and quick. Very polite, calm, and hopeful. That is how Matthew loves to live.

Likes: Friends, coffee, relaxing, getting lost in deep thought

Dislikes: Irrational people, back-stabbing, being forced to make hard decisions, rejection

Background: When he is left alone for a bit, Matthew likes to fall lost in thought. What is strange is that they end up leading events similar to deja vu. For example, he begins thinking on what he wants for dinner, when a delivery guy shows up with exactly what he wanted. Of course he still pays for the meal, it would be rude not to pay, but he hadn't even picked up the phone. One time specifically, he thought about the world he lives in. What if there is a force that is impacting us beyond our world? I mean, sure there may be a god, but what if there are just normal people that we can't see? And in a mere coincidence as all was before, that's when he heard about this game. He assumed it was a sign. Plus with a reward like that, why would he pass it up?
