Name: Vito

Age: 27

Personality: Vito is rather quiet and can seem a bit like a lone wolf at times, but when he's a part of a team, he will give it his all to keep everyone on the team healthy, alive, and above all: free from the Hypers. He isn't quick to let anyone get to close. Although he knows emotions are what make them humans, it is also one of their weaknesses. Anger can make one reckless, love can make one blind. Yet it can also unite people to fight for the same cause. He is determined to succeed in his mission, even if it means losing his life.

Background:

Somehow, a long time ago, he managed to escape from a convoy of humans taken to be enslaved by the Hypers, and he's been fighting them ever since. He joined a rebel force and slowly made his way up in their ranks until he led small groups in their attacks. Over the last decade or so, most of the rebellion has died out. They simply lost too many good men and women in their hit-and-run tactics, assaults, and betrayal from within.

Other:

Vito lost much, especially during one of the more recent missions he doesn't want to speak about. Although he doesn't quickly get close with someone, he will fight for those few he considers his friends. The idea of possibly having to sacrifice them pains him, but he realized that sometimes, there is no other choice. Vito merely hopes the ones he lost will be able to forgive him when his time comes.

"Die crying, or die trying."

PERSONNEL FILE

BASIC:

- Name: Jason Bautista
- Age: 24
- Gender: Male
- Sexuality: Heterosexual
- Ethnicity: Southeast Asian mix

APPEARANCE:

PERSONALITY:

- Personality: Jason has had plenty opportunity to wise up to the world. In an era where most are intent on revenge and following a path of carnage, he was a thrill seeker and adventurer. It was the thrill of the firefight that Jason sought after, and it was that same urge that led to the downfall of his team. Now, he is more down to earth and serious with matters concerning a fight, with the only real hint of his past being the light sarcasm that he sometimes brings into a conversation. Self and team preservation are his priorities now, perhaps even sparing the life of an enemy if it means saving an ally.
- The thrill of a firefight
- Comical allies
- New Era weaponry
- Hypers
- The thought of being captured
- Cats, just doesn't trust em
HISTORY:

Entire history is a writing of the death of his friends and comrades, leading him to become how he is today. It's my first time trying this with a Bio/History, so if anyone's got the time to read I'd like to think how you feel about the idea and whether you like his background. Thankiee!

"Oh shit!" Jason grunted into the microphone installed on his helmet, his voice fueled by both adrenaline and fear. His fireteam of three were surrounded at a cliffside, and their one extra manning a rifle was not putting out enough firepower to give them time to escape. Their movement space was so small, that the sound of a single plasma round whirring past them would be picked up through all of their microphones. Their only cover were the three small boulders, barely enough to cover two each.

"C'mon, four-eyes! We need a bit of help down here!" Jason shouted into the microphone. He rolled around the boulder, raising the plasma rifle in his hands up to eye level. His reaction time was fast, adjusting his aim and firing three quick shots before retreating behind his boulder.

There was a sound of static in his helmet, soon filled by the southern American accent of Jason's rifled friend up above.~"Tryin my best here, bu-"~ BOOM.. KA-CHINK The sound of the heavy rifle firing beside the mic muffled the words of his friend enough that they could hardly hear what he was saying ~"-ese damned toaster heads just keep-"~ BOOM.. KA-CHINK ~"-outta nowhere!"~

~"You've got to be joking.."~ Another male voice broke into their conversation, Jon, another one of Jason's friends and current fireteam member. ~"Kale what the hell'd we give you that big thing for if you aren't gonna use it!"~ He was one of the shorter members of their team, so he was easily distinguishable when he rolled over to send fire back to their enemies. A rounded object came flying at his feet, and almost immediately Jon picked it up and jumped to throw it back over the boulder behind him. ~"Oh fuck you!"~ The object left his fingertips, landing beside the original owner before exploding in a flash of white light. Nothing was left as the light dissipated, and an imprint was even left on the point of explosion.

~"Hey! Language, Jon!"~ A feminine voice broke through the connection, followed by her light gasping for air after shooting at the Hypers behind them. Elizabeth, or Liz, was probably the most morally upright out of their team. Most reliant, goes by the book, and even has to watch the rest of the boys in case their leash gets a bit too loose.

~"Heheh, missy can't even keep up with the sho-"~ Kale's words were cut off by the sound of a plasma rifle going off near his microphone, and followed by a second or two of static before the automatic disconnection kicked in. Their line was filled with dead silence; everyone had understood what had happened, but none of them were quite sure how to react. On their helmets, each of their names were listed on the far right as having an active signal. Kale's had gone dim the moment his static ran dry.

The silence broke with a warcry coming from Jon, who was on the boulder near the rear with Bri. He bellowed a roar and rolled off the boulder's side, trying to get to one of the closer points of cover. Simultaneously, both Jason and Liz called through their mics to come back. Their voices were panicked, knowing that going in that close was near suicide, if he even managed to get to his point.

At the moment Jon's figure left the safety of the boulder, his left shoulder was grazed and seared by one of the oncoming plasma rounds. A simple wound like that brought his cry down a few levels, but it was nothing compared to drastic change of volume that followed a moment after. The two surviving members of the team could only watch as round after round scorched another hole in the armor charging through, the sound of bloodied coughs coming in through their helmets. The moment the body hit the floor, it was Jason who nearly went berserk.

"Fucking shit!" Jason yelled, slamming the back of his helmet into the hard rock behind him. "What the hell was the bastard thinking?! What the hell am I supposed to tell Bri?!" Jason brought the rifle out from behind cover, firing aimlessly into the group of Hypers beginning to swarm them. "Brat was supposed to be married next month.." His voice said to his last surviving member, deep breaths keeping the channel from being completely silent.

It was Liz who spoke up this time, peeking her head out from the side of her boulder to try and spot Jon's lifeless body. ~"Maybe we can bring him back.. Bury him properly or someth-"~ There was a heavy CHINK and the sound of something smoldering. Her body fell lifeless, smoke coming out of two holes on her helmet, one near the front of her ear and the other coming out from where her eye was supposed to be.

Jason was speechless, but there was light breathing still coming from one of the microphones. Looking to his helmet, it showed Elizabeth's indicator to be lit but subtle, a sign of near death.

"No, no, no.." Looking behind himself to see if he was clear, Jason sent a few shots of his plasma rifle towards the enemy before sprinting towards the edge of the cliff near Elizabeth's body. The moment he reached her figure, he pulled it back behind cover, and crouched behind the rock. From the moment he held her in his arms, he felt her back arch slightly as she took in small breaths. 'Hey! Hey! You're going to be okay, just stay with me, yeah?!" Jason couldn't quite tell if she was conscious or not, but all he could hope for was that she didn't give out on him.

Seeing no other way out from the mess they were in, Jason was going to try and take one last ditch effort to get out before he was captured. The sound of boots was getting much closer, and it was now or never. Jason pulled Liz over his arms, diving off the cliff before rolling to land on his back. It had been been any more vertical, it nearly would have killed them both from the sheer height. Luckily for Jason, the angle allowed him to slide down with his injured friend in tow.

----------

Elizabeth did not make it back to the rebel camp, the trek being a full day's walk. At Jason's speed lifting her, it took about a day and a half. Without proper medical attention, she never regained consciousness and passed in her sleep.

Jason did not have the guts to meet Brianna, Jon's bride-to-be, when he made it back. He made no effort to travel back to central base and tell her to her face, however he did write to her letting her know the news and Jon's bravery to avenge and protect the rest of the team. He mentioned him needing time away, but that he would return once he was able to avenge the deaths of his three friends. The two now keep brief contact, small exchanges of messages every few weeks or so.

Kale had no family, like Jason, but was not by any means an easier death to accept.

The four of the fireteam and Brianna were friends since childhood, having traveled with a small group of rebels for all of their lives. Brianna was the only one unfit for service due to her frailer figure, but still supported the group in any ways possible.

Now, Jason was alone. Traveling from team to team, fitting into places where he was deemed most fit. His only goal is to finish this madness, as he did not get to lay down his life doing so the first time.

Name: Rima

Age: 20

Looks: Fairly narrow face, short black hair, pale

Personality: She's introverted and usually quiet, but she can be very excitable, especially when it comes to making things. She loves making things. She's kind, but practical and cautious. She has very little social skills, and hasn't seen a human in a few years.

Background: Rima's father was a Canadian businessman who ran a GMO company that eventually extended to Northern Canada. After less than a year, the company shut down the only factory and living space they'd built in the Northwest Territories, all of the very few roads that led to it broke, because the permafrost was particularly bad that year, and the minimal support wasn't enough to continue the project. It would've cost more to tear it all down than to leave it. They'd joked about it being a good place to go in case of emergency, because no one else would go there.
When the Hypers took over, Rima was four years old, and a 30-year-old family friend named Ashley was taking her out for ice cream, because her parents were busy. Ashley fled with Rima leaving both their families behind. Not knowing where to go, and desperate to have someway to reunite with someone she was close to, or at least another adult who could help, she went north. Finding a few abandoned gas stations on the way, and using the emergency supplies in the car, including extra gas, a few water bottles, a little bit of food, and emergency blankets, Ashley and Rima survived the forty-seven hour, four thousand three hundred kilometer drive. Once they got to the abandoned factory, Ashley went straight to the living quarters and started up the electricity for a section of the building. Within a few hours, with a bit of maintenance, it was warm and everything was running. There were enough supplies to last two people several years. There's a radio and non-AI computer, and Ashley was trying to find a way to connect to the rebels' communications, so she could help them.
The factory was originally built to breed cold-resistant GMOs. Ashley and Rima found some seeds and managed to grow a little food inside, but were delighted when they found that one of the projects from years before had succeeded - tough, black berries called neberries were growing like crazy outside.
Ashley worked with old-fashioned computers. She knew a lot about hardware and coding, which was why she understood what was happening minutes before everyone else and was able to leave soon enough. She taught Rima how to code, and how to put together and take apart computer hardware.
Ashley was also briefly a pilot, but the only helicopter at the factory is broken and would need an expert to fix. Ashley showed Rima how a helicopter would be flown, but Rima has never actually flown in one.
Ashley left when Rima was fourteen. She said she was looking for other rebels. Ashley hasn't come back in eight years, and is likely dead. Rima knows this, but she likes to pretend Ashley is still around, and 'talk,' to her.
Rima has been trying for years to improve the radio, and has recently found some old books she thinks might help. However, she isn't a radio expert, and nor was Ashley. This will be difficult.

Other:
The electricity in the living quarters runs partly off of oil and partly off of solar energy. Rima only heats a section of the living quarters. Because of this, she has excess solar panels and excess batteries. There's only a little bit of oil, but the solar panels tide her over quite well.
When the factory was shut down, half of the staff had already moved in. Employees were lifted out by helicopter, because the roads were so awful. It was a rushed process, and many employees left things behind.
Rima has become quite lonely, and her social skills have eroded. She reads sometimes, but has run out of books. Sometimes she puts on warm clothing and goes into the actual factory, which was set up for canning. Rima likes to take apart the machines, and bring the parts into the heated quarters she lives in, to build things and take them apart. She also explores other sections of the living quarters, where workers who thought they were moving in sometimes left things behind. She's found a sewing kit, and she makes warm clothing out of random fabric that she finds, including tarps in the factory, and sheets/blankets from unused beds. She made most of her warm clothes out of blankets and tarps sewn together.
Rima has found some magazines, but other than that, she hasn't seen a male since she was four. She knows they exist, and has a libido, but she won't really know how to react if/when she sees a male in person.

Name: Jarret "Scrapper" Ritenburg

Age: 30

Looks:
images (8).jpg

Personality: Hates Hypers with more than a passion. In combat he is extremely aggressive and headstrong. He isn't called "Scrapper" for no reason. He prefers to be a lone wolf operator but will prove as a good leader in a group. When in a group he is a little bit less aggressive and more of a supportive fighter than he would be fighting alone. Out of combat he is more joking and calm, helping the community in any way he can.

Background: His burning hatred for Hypers doesn't just come from them trying to enslave humanity, but that they killed his parents right in front of him. He was 14 at the time. Young, inexperienced, but not on bit of fear, only rage. The best reason he could find for the Hypers not killing him or enslaving him was they were trying to strike fear deep into the hearts of humans so they wouldn't fight back, but it didn't work on him. He picked up a rifle for his first time when he was 15, a year after his parents death. He had been living with a friend of his father when a group of Hypers raided their camp. After his new guardian was shot down Jarret grabbed his plasma rifle and went to work. He showed the rest of his camp that he could fight. He and the other fighters at the camp held off a few waves of Hypers, giving most of the camp time to get out. When it was his time to leave he left shooting his gun. Despite his age, he kept fighting. Jarret continued to train himself in any form of combat he could. When he joined in the main fighting force of humanity, he showed his aggressive fighting style. Some people he fought with feared him, even at 20. He kept fighting with the same style, making him known among the ranks as "Scrapper".

Other: His rifle is kinda two weapons in one. The barrel of the gun closes up to provide a more accurate and higher velocity shot.

B Bwahaha

Wait... now we're stumbling upon something contrary in the sheets XD Jarret, who's 30, saw his parents being killed by Hypers when he was 14
Rima, who's 17, was out for a drive when the Hypers took over...
This is a little confusing ...
#ShouldHaveEstablishedAClearTimeline

It has, however, been stated that the war ended quite a while ago. And I doubt a 10 year old or younger would have been coding and driving a car. So... I'm gonna have to ask for some tiny changes in Rima's background. Hypers had already (largely) taken over when she was still young. You can keep the coding and the factory and everything in your story, just the Hypers had already taken over so she, her friends, and family would have had to lay low.
I'm gonna create a somewhat clearer timeline when my brain is properly functioning again. (which means sometime tomorrow, probably)

Sorry, my eyes must have skipped that bit of the text. I thought it had only been a few months.
I'll switch it so she was 17 when she started, and she'll be 17 + however many ears it's been since then. (I'll just say she's 33 for now, then change it to whatever you say the timeline is tomorrow).
Sorry if I wasn't clear, but i meant to say the factory was built and abandoned years before the Hypers took over. The only reason she made it there was because she was one person in an old car, and she took detours to avoid Hypers. Once she got far enough north, there weren't too many Hypers outside, because there weren't people to maintain the AAIs that turned into Hypers, and computers suck in the cold.

You're not the only one to have mis-read a little bit there XD My brain is only half functioning after a day at internship, and being distracted a lot with thoughts on LARP this weekend XD
Let's say it's been 16 years so it fits with Reaper's background. And also with my own background :P Since Vito escaped Hypers when he was younger.

I'm okay with our character being younger, so seventeen or a little older, just know she was a little kid when the Hypers had taken over. A character really growing up in a Hyper-controlled world is interesting also. Whereas the older people want to restore the world they knew, the kids just want the world to be rid of Hypers because they're the ones who enslave humans. Maybe Rima's parents were with the resistance? Just an idea, it's up to you, really ^_^

"Okay. Fine. I'll tell you. The secret to my technical abilities is...obviously the fact that I'm better than you. You idiot."
BASICS NAME: Dorian Ghannam
AGE: 31
GENDER: Male
ETHNICITY: Egyptian
SEXUALITY: Demisexual
ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Good

DESCRIPTION Standing at a mere 5'7", Dorian's an awful lot of personality packed into a fairly short person. His eyes are a pale gray-blue, his build tends toward the thin on even the best of days, and he perpetually has some grease or dirt smeared across his arms or face. Cuts and bruises aren't an uncommon sight, either, with as irritable as he tends to be.

82347a52cb42c105ca7d9838777539f3.jpg

PERSONALITY Considered "guarded" at best and "an asshole" in general, Dorian is a notoriously difficult rebel to get along with. He's feisty and fierce and cocky about his skills, both with hacking and tech in general. He takes no lip and spares no feelings and tends to be more than willing to back up his snide comments and confrontational nature with his fists. That said, he's an excellent engineer and jury-rigger, good at field repairs for weapons or hacking 'bots or being generally useful in similar ways. He's also completely dedicated to the resistance and its cause, though questions as to why tend to accomplish nothing more than getting him more prickly than usual. If one can put up with the superiority complex and the insults for long enough to become friends with the testy engineer, one might find that he's a socially awkward and self-deprecatory person who harbors a surprising amount of admiration for the people he works around and that he contemplates philosophy in his spare moments.

HISTORY Dorian found the group only a few months prior, and he's still going through the process of proving himself. A scout team had found him alarmingly close to a Hyper-controlled sector, scared and alone, and Dorian himself claimed few memories from before that moment. He knew he'd escaped from some Hyper complex, he knew that the person who'd helped him get out had been killed in the escape, and he knew he wanted nothing more than to serve the resistance to try and get revenge for that friend. He'd hypothesized to several inquisitive officers that he'd been a slave, one that worked on the bots or some other grunt work that gave him his impressive technical skills, and breaking whatever mind control they'd put on him had caused the amnesia. But, there's no safe way to check that theory and his past remains a mystery.
Whatever the story might be, he's done his damnedest to be a valuable asset to the resistance.

Great idea!
I'll make it so she's an old teenager or young adult (I haven't decided yet) and the person who brought her there/taught her to code was a family friend who'd taken her out for ice cream while her parents were busy. The family friend left eventually to join the resistance. Rima doesn't know whether or not they're still alive, but pretends they are.

Read the charges, and all is fine :)
If nobody else responds, we're gonna have a smaller group than the eleven who showed interest xD
I made my first sorta introductory post. Those who have been accepted as free to make theirs as well. :)

I'll be away for the weekend (on a larp, so this weekend I'm a viking instead of anything close to sci fi xD) so I guess the official start will be next week xD

It's alright XD You're the first one to reply after me, as you've seen. I'm still waiting on others to post too xD

WOOHOO!
Meanwhile I'm still hyped because I'm a Power Rangers nerd and the movie was released ehre today. A day before the USA. So I watched it and my inner nerd is super happy cause it was awesome

I saw the trailer and was like "My god. I have to watch it just because it looks beautiful".

Well, US release date is tomorrow,so go see it when you can!
I LOVED it. It was well done, had a decent amount of nods to the classic series, explanation as of how the Ranger powers came to Earth initially... I'm gonna see it again tomorrow with a friend of mine. Twice in a row, but SO worth it.

Elizabeth Banks NAILS the role of freaky Evil Rita. There's on screen deaths, some slight jumpscares... Definitely darker than the TV series.

"The important question here is whether or not I get to blow it up."
BASICS NAME: Sloane Koehn
AGE: 27
GENDER: Female
ETHNICITY: African American
SEXUALITY: Bisexual
ALIGNMENT: Lawful Good

DESCRIPTION Sloane's a soldier, and she's got the scars to match. She stands at 5'9, with an athletic build and as many scars as she has tattoos dotting her shoulders, arms, and back. The tattoos are crudely done, mostly by other resistance members, and she started collecting them when she was sixteen after shooting her first machine. The scars, though, she's been collecting those since she was old enough to get into trouble.

4b0d6fa3ddfb22aa407fbea1501b25e4.jpg

PERSONALITY Best described as blunt and tenacious, Sloane is a "take it or leave it" individual with a solid moral code and a fascination with destruction. She's dedicated, thorough, and intensely practical, with the patience of saint and a temper that's cooler than a metal shack in a snowstorm. That, combined with her extroverted nature, makes her a decent moderator for arguments or personal disputes. On the other, hand, however, she's stubborn and prideful and shit with apologies when her blunt opinions offend others or start an argument. Her sense of humor is immature and typically vulgar, and she's fond of riling up people who react well and the odd prank. If one really analyzes her level-headed disposition, one might find that it comes from a subtle detachment from her emotions, perhaps due to trauma, instead of deep-set patience or empathy. It makes her a better logical thinker and a fine tactician, but it leaves her with difficulty processing her emotions or empathizing with others. Still, she's a solid and loyal friend, and an asset to the resistance.

HISTORY Born to a soldier and the supervisor for a company specializing in deep-drill mining, Sloane spent much of her early life on the move, getting into trouble wherever she went. She'd even been off planet a few times with either of her parents, her mother overseeing the mining of asteroids for valuable minerals and her father patrolling far systems for pirates and the like. Back then, her dreams and goals were simple enough; she wanted to be a soldier like her father. Live on ships. See the stars.
She was eleven when the Hyper War began.
It was just her and her mother on planet, her father on active duty out of system, when the war really kicked into gear. There'd been rumors and skirmishes between humans and what would become to be known as Hypers for days and weeks before it really hit the fan, but they were seen as isolated incidents until it was too late. Her mother ended up becoming one of he first few dozen members of the resistance, back in the early days of the war, and Sloane followed suit as soon as she turned sixteen. All her explosives knowledge was taught by her mother and a couple other members of the resistance back then, most of whom died in an attack on the Heart when Sloane was twenty. She'd been judged "too inexperienced" to participate in the attack with the rest of the cell, and because of that ended up being one of the only survivors of that cell. Since, she's been moving around and making herself useful, tending to go where the action is and continuing the trend she'd started as a kid: find some way to make trouble. Now, though, she makes trouble for the Hypers.
It's unknown where her father ended up and she has no way to contact him.

WEAPONS, SKILLS, AND OTHER LIKES:
- Puns; wordplay; gentle ribbing
- Dogs
- Fire and explosives
DISLIKES:
- Cockiness
- Being unprepared; not having a plan; improvising
- Being talked down to
SKILLS:
Explosives; marksmanship; working as part of a team
WEAPON:
A standard plasma rifle; an energized combat knife for close quarters; whatever explosives she can salvage or make
img_0370-png.287209
OTHER: Carries around a bandolier for the various grenades, explosives, and dirty bombs she finds/makes in her travels.

Just one thing: the Hyper war is sixteen years ago. If Sloannne is 27, she was 11 when the war began. Not 14 ;)

Other than that: nice!

Sorry I wasn't able to get a post up last night. After a tiring practice and doing some other work I had to get some sleep. Expect a post soon.
