Fantasy The World of Rhea (WIP)

Jackaboi

One Thousand Club
Welcome to Rhea

This is a world where a magical energy called Ether is all around us. Ether is said to to give shape to all the building blocks of life. The food we eat, the air we breath, plants, stone, our bodies and even our own souls. All of it came from Ether. Although Ether is prominent all around us, there are a select few in this world that are born with the ability to actually manipulate and weaponize it in the form of magic. These people are known as mages. Magic is something that you can only be born with. The ability to channel ether can never be taught to others as a mages magical ability is unique to them alone. There are only two exceptions to this rule that I will go into greater detail later. Now because of this people without the ability to cast magic have grown to fear mages and the potential they hold so they have a tendency to be shunned and abused by society. While this treatment isn't uncommon in the larger world. There is no kingdom in this world that hates mages more than the Kingdom of Delaran.

The Kingdom of Delaran

Delaran is one of the largest kingdoms in Rhea and well known for it's powerful military as well as it's most prominent religion The Church of Delmar. Delaran is governed by King Reverend Mondstadt, a king who is fair to his subjects but a ruthless tyrant towards mages. Magecraft is totally outlawed in this country except for the churches own Holy Sigil magic. One of the two forms of magic that can actually be taught to others as it does not require one to channel ether directly. This holy sigil magic is the only legal form of magic as it is Delaran's primary means of keeping mages in check. Mages in Delaran are legally required to to have a sigil drawn on the palm of their hand by the church to bind their magic and any attempts to use their magic will break the seal and alert the church. while the seal will allow a mage to become a legal citizen of Delaran, the sigil itself still marks them as mages too and makes them vulnerable to mistreatment from others and even have less rights than the average citizen too. Because of this some mages opt to hide their power in the hopes they don't get found out. Although attempts to hide their magical power is a great crime and raises suspicion of being a member of the Mage Revolution. Therefore punishment for such a crime can lead to either life imprisonment or even death.

The Delaran Military

Among one of the most powerful militaries in the world, they are also the primary police force in the Kingdom of Delaran as they have specialised equipment and training specifically tailored towards dealing with magecraft. General Issac Baelsar is the highest authority in the military right below the king himself. The military has access to Anti-mage equipment such as armour enchanted by pure crystalised Ether capable of resisting magical attacks. Ether infused swords as well as the latest in Delaran technology Ethertek firearms. Rifles that use small ether crystals to fire concentrated magical projectiles. That paired with their intense training they are not only prepared for fighting mages but also the most feared military in the world as no other kingdom are as technologically advanced
