Humans are what one would call a "basic" species, but this is far from the truth. While their kind had been known to be power-hungry and cruel, they are also resourceful and hardy, lasting in conditions that many would seem undesirable. They have rooted themselves in many cities, with each having its own kings. The largest of them are these:
Therin: This is a city close to the Berephain Sea, and is known for its large market and huge fishing industry.
Verret: This city is surrounded by impressive mountain peaks, making it more of a fortress. Mining is a large export here.
Herben: Known for its fierce military, this city is based on the Plains of Ephi, which houses many wild horses.
Krita: The last of the largest cities is set on the Urit Ice Shelves. Despite freezing temperatures, the people that live here make a great profit by hunting whales.
The Rettu are a bird-like species, having wings that grow from their shoulder blades, and the lower half of an avian species. They are difficult to reason with, as their stubbornness is unmatched, as is their lightning fast reflexes. Rather than forming cities, Rettu have formed clans, each with their own chieftans.
The Kappe Clan: Set in the Kappe Forest, this clan is said to paint their faces and dye their feathers unnatural colors.
The Terka Clan: This clan lives on an island in the middle of Terka Lake, and their specials feathers allow them to dive for short periods of time.
The Irtu Clan: On the outskirts of Krita are a range of mountains, where this clan thrives. These birds have thick feathers that allow them to remain warm in the frigid temperatures.
A common misconception about elves is that they are stuck-up, stuffy beings that care not about the ways of the world. Most likely started long ago, this rumor is quite wrong, so much so, in fact, that the opposite is true. Elves are incredibly fierce and protective of their people and their ways, for there are many traditions that they carry on. While they strive to bear calm minds, many elves actually have short tempers. Elves form themselves much like humans, as they have several great cities, but rather than having a king, they have a group of elders.
Vaaben: This city is located on the edge of the Werte Desert, and is sustained by multiple oasis's that surround it. They have adapted well to living in the desert, growing special plants that contain large amounts of water.
Gerudi: In the Iluithiden Forest, this city is made up of the very trees it is surrounded by. The people of this city are known for their excellent archery skills and, while they never seem to gain weight, even better appetites.
Jen'De: The most beautiful of the elven cities is built around a giant waterfall that cascades down like silk. Speaking of silk, these people have incredible weaving skills, constructing the softest and yet strongest cloths in the world. Many come from hundreds of miles away just to purchase some of this material, which is sold nowhere else.
The Pefte are a reclusive species, mostly because of where they love. While it is not necessary for the Pefte to remain submerged at all times, as they have lungs as well as gills, their skin does dry out after several days. To prevent this, they have developed a type of lotion for applying to skin whenever they go above land. The Pefte have formed beautiful dwelling places underwater, and live together in what are more like castles than cities. The leaders of these cities are called Captains, and are voted to office every ten years.
Ke: This city is just off the coast of Therin, the human city, in the Berephain Sea. The temperatures there are not freezing, and yet not warm. They have a trading partnership with Therin that benefits both cities.
Io: This city is located in very warm and tropical waters, and is built around a huge coral reef. The beaches close to it are made of pure, soft sand, and are a popular destination for travelers.
Qe: This city is underneath mountains, in a large reservoir. Many tunnels lead to it, including both dry and water-filled ones, the the water is said to be the purest in the world. Special underwater plants are grown in non-existent light, but the air above the water is light with hundreds of torches.
