The tall grass quiver under the cold air, one by one it was buried by the freezing droplets of ice. Where the land itself held nothing but stories of anguish as it curses the very footsteps of those who carried the crimson stains upon their palms. In the field where dead trees piled up, a lone building stood. Small yet enough to brave the harsh weather in that manmade island, its very existence was left abandoned and forgotten by many but one was left to remember it's history by heart.

As a small boat were left frozen beside a nearby dock along with two fishing poles, theres no signs of life around the area. Safe for a man sitting on the edge of the wooden structure, with light blonde strands flutter gently from the gentle breeze. From afar, the wind began to change course and the ground slightly disturbed revealing the appearance of an advanced aircraft disabling it's camouflage before landing on the open field.

It carried 3 other newly recruited personnels, those who should be eager to get settled into their new base. It didnt take long for the door to unravel and the light haired soldier now stood before the aircraft, disfigured features would be the first thing one noticed from him. He waited for each of them to have both of their feet upon the ground, before outstretching a hand to greet them. The hint of russian accent barely visible on his lips, as he rolled his tongue to utter his speech.

"Good day soldiers, welcome to your new home. I shall be looking forward to work with all of you." He smiled faintly.

Being back made him restless. He paced his house not really seeing the space around him. It had been hell ever since he’d returned. Nothing felt familiar at all. Sure, he recognized the space. He talked with his friends and kept up with all that stuff. Hell, the place was in the same condition as when he’d left. Why didn’t it feel the same? He was tired of looking at the same walls trying to figure it out. None of it made sense. He thought he was the only one "blessed" with these powers. The curse that he will never wish upon anyone else but the day has come. The day where he would meet people like him.
He got up bright and early incapable of sleeping a minute after 4 am. Seth freshened himself off before he ran his morning run.

The cold air brushed across his face and all he could hear was his controlled breath and heartbeat. Silence. Something he has been yearning for ever since the incident. After months of endless thoughts, he could finally control it. He could control the endless intellect that rushed through his brain a million miles an hour it felt. Everywhere he looked his brain flooded with the knowledge of the item with useless facts that he couldn't control, predicting the movement of the subject, and making sure it was;t any type of threat. It was mind-rattling. But now he could control the curse he has been given he will always use it to his advantage.
The powers were more of a curse than a blessing.

After his run, he made it back to his home that didn't feel his and went to the bathroom to take a shower before going. Seth looked at himself in the mirror and didn’t recognize himself. It was so weird. Moving his face closer to the glass, he was making the same motion but it wasn’t himself. Shaking off the feeling of uncertainty about his own identity. Thinking about the problems led to more problems in the long run. Why amplify the things that don't need to be said or mentioned? That's what Seth always said. To excuse the problems he was experiencing. Escape at its finest.

Once he was clean shaved, and fresh out of the shower, he pulled a muscle shirt on and jeans. Seth picked up his duffle bag that was already packed and prepped with everything one could ever need. Putting on his hat he then headed out the door. Once he got in the car he didn't look back. This was his chance. His chance to finally be himself again to extend. The chance to get back into the motions he yearned for so long. Maybe it will be different. Maybe the powers wouldn't slowly kill him. But those were all maybe's that aren't logical at all. Maybe's and If's just led to more disappointment. Seth doesn't know if he can handle much more disappointment. But whether he likes it or not he won't give up despite the disappointment.

A long plane ride felt like 5 minutes. God, it felt amazing to be in the cargo of an aircraft again. The sound of the wind filled his ears as the sheer force of the jets rattled the walls of the aircraft. Nothing like the adrenaline rush when you are about to get out of a plane on a new mission. But Seth still can't help but have organized and stressed thoughts in his mind since he knew so little. It left him distressed in some way when he wasn't prepared for situations like these. Who was he going to see? Who was gonna train him? Questions seemed to start flooding his mind. Yet they had no answers. "Breath Seth. Breath." He said in his mind. Doing stupid breath exercises that his therapist was required to teach him. They helped but he would never admit that.

Getting off the plane Seth looked at the person greeting the others on the plane as well as him. The Russian accent caught his attention as well as the distinct scars grazed across the visible parts of his body. They looked like an array of different weapons caused them. Bullets, Knives, and even some bomb exposure. The small cuts must have been from falling or the sharp debris on the battlefield. With a slight nod and eye contact with the other, he shook his hand. Returning the smile with a grin. Now, this was gonna be fun.

The cold brushing against the pale complexion, sky colored eyes glow dimly under the cloudy skies. Another face to meet his, another face burned into his fragile memory. The weight around his neck only grow tighter along with the suffocating air piercing his lungs, bitter sweet the taste of the same medicine with another pair of hands clinging to his shoulders. This time it shall be different, this time he'll end this bloodshed for sure. Perhaps then and only then will the haunting warmth of the land he once known as home would no longer wear him down, free from the desperate grasp of someone's maddening ambition.

Gladly he took this role, for the man before him too. He will not let go of the very hand that had held his, for their own smile he will cherish quietly. "Mr. Horn yes? it's nice to finally meet you, I am Alexander. You can call me Alex if you prefer that. Now lets get you settled in first before any of you get frostbite." He uttered sincerely, despite there was a faint warmth in those eyes. His own words felt distant and cold, as he turned away and beckoned for the group to follow him into the simple structure. Inside, the temeprature improves almost drastically, a cozy cabin with a firework nearby.

Oddly enough the place felt more like a humble home than an operation base, as bookshelves filled with children books upon the walls of the living room and stuffed dolls sat upon the cushions. One would even think there was a child living here, but there's no signs of it's existence. He motioned towards the hallway where a couple of vacant room prepared for the recruits, each were decorated based on the psyche test they took.

"These are your rooms, if you need anything I'll be in the kitchen." He uttered pointing at the door opposite of the hallway, sliding off the coat that hugged his frame and revealing the abundance of dogtags hanging around his neck. Deep ghastly scars riddled his skin, mostly covered by the dark shirt with long sleeves that he wore. He dismissed himself along with the light chime of those dogtags hitting each other which began to fade from their side.

Seth didn't say anything he just observed in silence. He watched his mannerisms of Alex like he was an enemy but he could assume he was that good guy in the situation. But old habits die hard when it comes to a Navy Seal. He nodded his head in agreement with Alex's greeting and followed close behind him in a stiff manner. One you would expect an ex-navy to do.
The scenery was icy, eerie even. Not a single sign of life besides the humans he could see. Once they walked through the doors of the base he expected the scenery from the outside to transfer to the inside. But it was warm, welcoming, and cozy. It put his guard up immediately. Now he was looking at Alex like a potential threat and the others around him. As far as he could see it was just the 4 of them stuck in the base, with no sense of direction of where to go if there is a possibly dangerous situation. It terrified him. Seth knew if he showed what he was feeling on the inside they might know. So he masked the stress and fear by keeping a serious look on his face.

Once Alex left Seth went into his room, his hand placed on top of the gun on his hip as if something could jump out at him at any given moment. He turned on his ability and looked around the room. Information flooded his mind, inspecting every given object, every scuff on the walls, and what could have made them. All the imperfections logged into his brain. After his large inspection, he came to the conclusion that the room was safe. Trying to slow down his thoughts and focus to turn off his ability was the most difficult part a thing he still struggles with even though he has practiced the skill several times. With a breath and a large amount of focus, his rush of knowledge stopped and it was silent. He sighed and sat down from the pain of his headache. Using his powers left his head scrambled one could say. Causing a large headache. Seth frantically looked for the headache medicine in his pockets the pain getting larger. The large pounded against the walls of his skull felt as if his brain could explode at that very moment. Quickly he found the bottle and chewed the pill for faster relief. The pills were expert-level since he made them himself. They quickly stopped the pain due to the dosage of aspirin compounds, ibuprofen, and naproxen sodium.

After his mild panic attack, he just wanted to crash and sleep the moment he just had away but his body wouldn't let him. Especially when he doesn't know where the hell he is and if it's safe or not. One of the most vulnerable things you can do is fall asleep in unsafe surroundings. Your just asking for death at that point. So he took the chance to look around the base to scope out any possible escapes if it came down to it. He left his room only to get spotted by Alex from the Kitchen.
"Shit." Seth said under his breath. "Just great. Just grin and nod." He continued as he started to walk over to the Kitchen.
"You can just call me Seth if you would like. Instead of Mr.Horn. The formalities aren't required."

The sound of water boiling in the pot, filled with buckwheat as he made the typical porridge that he always had for breakfast till dinner. However he made sure to fry it on a pan first, on the side he made some pelmeni with a decent amount of meat. Stuffing it in and pinching the dough with his fingers, before steaming them in another pot. The food he made was barely enough for the 4 of them, of course he wasn't actually done with cooking just yet. Pouring the buckwheat porridge and pelmeni onto a bowl, he quickly pulled out some breads and sausages. Slicing them before buttering the bread and a slice sausage on top, he did atleast two for each tray.

He also brewed some hot tea with a slice of lemon added into the mug, assembling each. He placed a few crackers with jam on the side and a bar of chocolate, along with a small bowl of stewed cabbage. Moving the trays of food towards table right beside the counter, he could sense movement approaching closer and saw it was seth himself. Slowly unraveling the knot around his waist, the blue eyes remained on the familiar figure and kept his lips sealed as he heard their voice greeting him.

They seemed somewhat anxious? How stiff their movements was is quite a dead giveaway. He wondered what bothered them so? Could this base did not provide them the feeling of safety? He isn't sure but the very least he could do is remain indifferent. "Is that so? Well Seth it is then, something you need? You looked quite restless." A question exited his scarred lips, before approaching a nearby counter and pulled the drawer to reveal a mechanism that raises a screen to emmerge from the surface.

He began tapping away on it, inside resides digital information along with reports of the area and the current condition of conflict that befall the countries targeted by the U.M. "Another one again.." he muttered to himself and once more he tapped upon the screen before closing the drawer to let it retract the device. Returning his attention back at the soldier before him, he stretched his neck and pulled a nearby bar stool to sit.

Seth ignored the man's question not wanting to answer the personal question. All Alex was to him was a threat. An unknown person that had abilities like him. That is what kept him on edge. Regardless if he trusted him or not he wouldn't have told him if he needed anything. Looking over at the array of food caused his stomach to grumble. But another no in his book was don't take food from the ones you don't trust. Poison could be mixed into any one of the foods. Taking the opportunity of that would be asking for death. Moving his focus to Alex's movements his attention focuses on his fingers. He analyzed the movements and the expressions on his face. Seth could tell that the male was disappointed maybe even saddened. Seth wasn't an emotionless monster he couldn't help but feel bad no matter the circumstance. With a sigh, he walked over to the food and picked it up. Seth took a bite of the food while he felt Alex's eyes on him. The buckwheat had a toasty taste as well as a crunchy yet chewy texture. It tasted nutty even. Seth'sface said it all and it read: Damn this is good. Seth didn't have to say a word to admit that the food was the best thing he had in a long time. It was a hell of a lot better than pizza, noodles, and Ramen. The only cuisine he could make. The buckwheat was clear since he wasn't throating at the mouth just yet and dying of poison. Seth then cautiously took a bite of the pelmeni. His mouth was flooded with the rich and savory flavors of the meat and onions. The taste of the Pelmeni was cohesive with the Buckwheat. This felt as if he went to a fancy restaurant and he ordered the most expensive thing on the menu.

After finishing his food he cleaned his plate and shared eye contact with the man with a thankful nod.
"Good luck trying to keep up with me Alex. You might be good at cooking but you'll never be as fast as me." He said as he left the room in a somewhat playful tone. Only one can determine if what he said was playful or not. Seth opened the door to his room with one last glance at the blonde man. A small smile on his face.
