Futuristic The Voyages of the U.S.S. Phoenix

RP Setup

Here is what I'm working on. As things are ready I'll make them available to you all. My plan is to prioritise the CS Thread so that you guys can all get onto creating your characters while I flesh everything else out. When an item is marked as complete, it doesn't mean it's completely finished, just enough for the RP to begin.

KEY:
= I am currently working on this
= I have finished working on this and it is ready to go
= I haven't started on this yet

To-Do List:
Setting Up Character Sheet Page
Setting up an OOC Thread
Setting Up the 'Database'
Setting up an OOC Discord Server
Setting up an OOC Thread
Create and post my own character
Create an Introductory Post
Let's a GO!

The year is 2498, and humanity ventures amongst the stars as a prominent member of the Galactic Union, a federation consisting of multiple species from numerous planets and star systems which work together under a banner of peace and freedom. The Union has an impressive fleet of ships ranging from fighters to frigates, one of these ships is the U.S.S. Phoenix, (U.S.S. = United Star Ship). The Phoenix is an exploratory ship, meaning that it and its crew are tasked primarily with exploring unknown regions of space and other similar tasks, though sometimes the Phoenix finds itself performing other duties too. You are a member of the crew of the Phoneix, and these will be your stories...
Apologies for the crude introduction, I've been thinking about this RP for a few days but wanted to post an interest check before thinking too hard about major details as I didn't want to flesh everything out fully if no one was interested. This RP is inspired by franchises such as Star Trek and The Orville and will follow the crew of the Star Ship Phoenix. Much like in the two franchises mentioned above, the ship will be home to its crew and their families and, as an exploratory vessel, the job of the Phoenix is to 'Boldly go where no one has gone before'. (Yeah... that was a bit plagiaristic, it won't be in the main RP lol). The RP will focus on the crew and their lives on board the ship in a sort of slice of life kinda way, and also on the new discoveries and dangers that they encounter during their journeys through space. In an ideal world, this RP will last for some time and we'll be able to experience many arcs throughout its lifetime, so if you're interested in creating your own 'encounters' for the Phoenix and her crew then that's awesome too. Let me know and we can discuss any ideas you have and work them into the story as best we can.

I wish to make it clear that you do not have to have seen either Star Trek or the Orville to participate in this RP, it's not a fandom RP as it will be separate from those universes, the idea was just inspired by those franchises. As long as you can enjoy the idea of a large crew living together and working together on a spaceship, then you'll be more than welcome.

As for characters, there will be 2 primary groups of characters, crew and family.

Crew - The crew will likely be our largest roster of characters, they are the people responsible for running the ship. From flying the ship to maintaining the ship and everything in between. These characters will get the most adventure and action.
Family - Each member of the crew will have their own quarters aboard the Phoenix and many crew members have family members living with them aboard the ship as well. These characters won't be active members of the ship's crew but will still live day to day. These characters will be mostly slice-of-life characters and generally will be less involved in the adventure elements of the RP however, they will still have to deal with any consequences and may get swept up in the action from time to time.

There will be other characters too, such as NPCs and the such.

We will, if possible, need a full command team. If a member of the command team is not accounted for then their duties will be split among the other command team members.
If you wish to request a specific role then say so and I'll put your name next to it to mark it as reserved. As an example, in this case, I will take the role of captain so my name is beside the captain role.

Captain - Geozaki Geozaki - The Captain is pretty self-explanatory. They are in command of the ship and any actions taken by the crew is their responsibility
First Officer - @Jackson123 - The First officer is the captain's second in command, they are often consulted when it comes to big decisions and, should the captain fall sick or be unavailable, the command will then fall to the first officer. (There can also be second officers, third officers and so on, but these titles will likely be given to other members of the command team rather than being separate roles of their own).
Helmsman - @Mr. Skull - There's often a large group of people aboard any ship who can fly it, but the primary helmsman is often the best of them all. It's their job to safely navigate the vastness of space while also being ready to chase targets or lay down some evasive manoeuvres should conflict arise.
Navigator - The navigator is often another helmsman who helps keep the helmsman on the right track.
Tactical Officer - @AKIMBOCROSS - The Tactical Officer is in charge of the ship's weaponry and shields. While the hope is that they are required to do very little, especially on an exploratory ship, when they're needed they must be ready for anything, one mistake could be the difference between life and death. They are also in charge of the tractor beam.
Science Officer - @Xenobiology - The Science Officer is in charge of the Ship's scanners and is able to quickly contact the science teams through the ship to coordinate any required research, analysis or medical attention as required.
Chief Medical Officer - @Karcen - Rarely seen on the bridge, the Medical officer is in charge of the team working to keep everyone healthy.
Chief Engineer - @Mineczka - The Chief Engineer is responsible for co-ordinating ship-wide repairs, they must be able to manage their teams and prioritise what needs repairing first to keep the ship operational, to aid them with this, their station has a detailed overview of the ship's systems, shield status and hull integrity. In addition to this, the engineer can allocate the ship's power to certain subsystems. The ship generally has a balance of power across all substations, but in the event of a loss of power or other extreme circumstances, some systems may have to be sacrificed to keep others operating as effectively as possible.
Chief of Security - @Nothingness - The Chief of Security's job is to keep everyone on board the ship safe. When working on the bridge they can see any reports from throughout the ship relating to injuries, damage or other oddities so that they can effectively command their security teams and, in the event that the engineer's display ceases to function, they can provide the Chief Engineer with live information on damage as it comes in from the ship's crew. The chief of security is also responsible to ensure that landing parties have adequate security details, keeping the people living on the ship safe from each other and keeping everyone safe from outside threats or the members of boarding parties.
Communications Officer - @Lost Echo - The communications officer is in charge of sending and receiving hails to and from other ships and will often deal with the majority of communications that do not require the attention of any other member of the crew.

The Helmsman, Tactical Officer, Science Officer, Chief Engineer and Chief of Security will all have teams working beneath them, responsible for keeping the ship running.
The helmsman will lead the other pilots and navigators on board. This team will be required to step in for the navigator or helmsman aboard the bridge if needed and may be asked to pilot shuttles or fighters at any given moment.
The Tactical Officer will lead the tactical team, the tactical team's responsibilities include helping come up with strategies to overcome difficult obstacles or enemies as well as keeping the ship's armoury and munitions safe and ensuring that the ship's weapons are functional at all times.
The Science Officer will lead the science team. The science team is huge and consists of many roles such as medical (Which is overseen by the Medical officer), research, analysts and so on.
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for running the engineering team. The engineering team are in charge of ship maintenance, installing upgrades and overseeing important ship functions such as the engine.
The Chief of security is in charge of the security team. The security team will have the most weapons training and must act like police officers aboard the ship. In addition to this, members of the security team will be called if there's ever a firefight on the ground, be it inside or outside the ship.

If you wish you can be a member of the teams if you don't wish to be the officer in charge of them, or if the official position has already been taken.

Apologies if this is hard to follow, it's quite late here right now and I'm still working on some of the details.

The RP is planned to begin after a massive repair job to the Phoenix, which was all but destroyed in a recent battle. Some of the crew will be new whereas others will have survived the battle. I know it's not much to go on right now, but thought I'd add that in case you want to think about your characters and how long they've been aboard.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hopefully, we'll have a super awesome RP together!

Edit: Although I only mentioned Humans in the 'dramatic opening paragraph', you are more than welcome to play non-human characters. If you wish to be a member of a race that already exists in fiction, such as Star Trek's Vulcans, The Orville's Xelayans or Battlestar Galactica's Cylons then feel free. (Obviously, races not used as an example are welcome as well). You may also create your own species if you wish. The only real restrictions are that they can conceivably work within the RP and that they are not indestructible omnipotent god-like beings, in other words, nothing massively OP.

Edit Again: CS Thread is UP! Futuristic - The Ongoing Voyages of the U.S.S. Phoenix - Characters - Open and Accepting
Ahoy! I actual have some experience with a scifi crew! Is the navigator position available, I'd love to work a star map.

Yes, the navigator spot is still available for sure!
Feel free to enter the Characters thread and get started, the Lore tab has a database where you should find some helpful information about the universe we're playing in and of course, feel free to talk to us or ask any questions you may have in the OOC too!
