Rae made her way quickly down 16 flights of stairs heading straight for the basement. Free period meant she could spend time practicing her field skills, this was something she wouldn't ever be able to learn from a book and felt greatly behind the rest of her class. Rae was great with weapons and tools, but under pressure she tended to cave. She had a great natural ability in combat, but fear always crept in. Adjusting the strap of her backpack on her back she gently laid a hand on the door, pushing it wide open and going in.

Rae desperately wanted to work on archery, but she knew that wasn't going to be a main topic in the following combat classes. Rae hated walking into anything without any prior practice. She had no interest in becoming the fool of the class when she knew she was so much better than that. Rae eyed the knives sitting within a glass case, probably smart within a school full of assassins, but everyone had their own weapons so it did it really make much of a difference?

She dragged her fingers along the top of the glass admiring the tools within. A small smirk crossed her face, biting the corner of her lower lip. What she would give to have the code to practice with these. The handle looked to be so well made, and the steal of the knife looking like it could slice someones flesh so smoothly.

Rae shook the thoughts from her head, she hated thinking like that. A small bit of her wished she could go back to her simple innocence, before she went down the path of killing. But she was doing it for the good of others, right? Taking fate into her own hands, to make the world a better place, for kids like her to grow up.

Rae took her eyes off the knives and walked towards the mats in the middle of the room. A few with fighting dummies set up at the end of them. Rae dropped her hands to the side shaking them out beside her. She took a deep breath in lifting her head to face the dummy. Bouncing on her toes she started to rev herself up. Rae was locked in now, closing her fists she swung, making contact with the dummy. Jumping back she began to get into a rhythm, punch left, punch right, kick, left, right, kick. She became totally unaware of her surroundings.

He was used to being alone by this point, but it did warm his heart slightly that someone talked to him to class. Even if he didn’t know them well. It’s been a while too as he has been so consumed with his goals and training. It was a pleasant change of pace. However, it still didn’t clear his head of his lost sister. As much as he wanted to relax, if he wanted any hope in finding her. He had to learn to do it himself.

He pushed open the door of the training room, the musty air causing him to turn his head as he entered. He pushed the door behind him with his foot then adjusted his bag as he walked deeper in. He took a small glance up at the ceiling, feeling suffocated with the thought of being in a basement so far beneath the school. However, when he looked at the training stations and felt himself sink a little into the mats, a calm feeling cascaded over him. All he was going to do was train.

As he walked across the room, he glanced over at a girl beating a dummy to a pulp, but it reminded him he needed to train on punches like she’s doing. He only used his go to technique and if it didn’t work, he would use his kicks. If he was better at punches, he could’ve knocked them out like a light. Nevertheless, he was here for the parkour area to better his mobility.

He dropped his bag on the side and took off his shoes, walking over the beginning he looked down the path of walls, bars, and slopes he could jump and twist on. He reached over and pressed a button. Then dummies began to pop up in various locations with a target on them. First he’ll have them remain still, then he’ll have to go back and make them move. He let out a tired sigh before readying his feet in the middle. The button pinged and Atlas ran forward. He hopped over the quickly, rolling into an upward position before looking up to see a dummy on a high wall.

Look for a path. Look for a path. He took a sharp turn, jumping up to grab a shorter wall. He hefted himself up before looking at a maze of bars in front of him. Using a running start, he hopped across the top of them before grabbing onto a bar higher up. He swung himself forward hitting the dummy down before jumping back to the bars in order to slide down the poles.

Yet, his hands only met empty space. Grasping out his arm met a lower bar thankful, but his momentum eventually made him let go and fall straight onto his back. He grunted in pain and groaned as he rolled himself over only to see the dummies were gone and that he needed to start over again. He cursed to himself as he shuffled his way over, pausing to open his bag. He took out some water and rubbed his back as he glanced over at the others who were also training.

Mae had decided to skip the poison class today, she just really didn't feel like it. Instead she had spent the time throwing her knives around the basement from various heights and angles to keep her aim sharp. The physical side of the academy was much more her forte while things such as classes, although important, bored her half to death and some days she just wanted to ignore them and so she did. It probably wasn't the best idea in terms of staying out of trouble with the staff but that just wasn't really something that Maeve concerned herself with really.

Still she'd gotten in some good practice with her knives before proceeding to kick the heck out of the dummies. It wasn't as good as sparring with an actual person but since all the others were being good little assassins and going to class like they were meant to it had been better than nothing. And to be fair, Mae had enjoyed it. The adrenaline pumping through her veins and the sheer electricity she felt from it was amazing. Normally on jobs she was in and out before anyone noticed in time to put up a fight but if they did then a) she liked to be prepared for it and b) she kinda enjoyed it if she was totally honest. There was just something about fighting that made the little assassin feel alive.

By the time the class she was supposed to have been in had finished Maeve had worked up quite a sweat and elected to retreat up into the rafters and see who decided to come and play. First in was Rae who surprisingly didn't head straight for the archery range. Mae guessed she's decided to work on something different for a change then clearly. Unknowing, it seems she shared the other girl's sentiment about the knives behind the glass. Why the staff bothered to lock any weaponry up was beyond her since every single person in this building carried their own with them so why not just let the students have access to the full arsenal? Sometimes the logic of the academy escaped her it really did.

Just as Rae fell into her rhythm punching the dummy, she noticed the door swing open and another one of the academy's deadly little prodigies, Atlas, walk in. For a time Maeve just watched from her perch, having a perfect view of the room from her usual spot. Hmm, maybe it was time to have some fun now. As a smirk pulled at her lips, she pulled a pair of knives from their leg straps and threw - one straight into the top of the dummy Rae was attacking and another right at the boy Atlas's feet. Now lets see how they decided to play today.

Kendall's eyes finally broke from Josephine's face when she was asked about her finger. She never really paid much attention to the thing. It was almost like she wasn't missing it in the first place, it didn't really effect her day to day. But, Kendall could tell Josephine was just searching for a way to change the subject. Kendall had managed to make the tiniest crack it Josephine's proverbial emotion armor. She was satisfied with that. For now. There would definitely be more poking and prodding later. But, for now, she would let Josephine change the subject. She didn't need to go pushing her away quite yet.

"I was born without it." Kendall answered simply, wiggling the other four fingers on her left hand, "Birth defect." And that was all Kendall gave Josephine on the subject. There wasn't much else to say on the matter anyway. She just didn't have it. Not a big deal at all, in fact, she was still more than capable of everything without it. The only thing she probably couldn't really do was shoot a gun with her left hand, but she didn't really need to anyway. Kendall was right handed so it didn't bother her much. The rest of the class was spent in relative silence, with Kendall still staring at Josephine with that same odd glint in her eye.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After potions class, Kendall was quick to separate form the rest of the class. She walked rather quickly by herself back down the stairs to her dorm room. She shouldered past several people taking far too long for her liking and earned a few glares but nothing more. No one ever really seemed to want to cause any problem with her and that was a-okay with her. She didn't need people constantly trying to start shit with her. Kendall was perfectly fine in her own little bubble, keeping everyone at arms length. Watching from a distance. People were interesting. Kendall didn't need to kill people to get satisfaction out of watching them. Simply sitting back and watching people mulling about was good enough for her. Killing just happened to be a little more interesting. Kendall's morbid fascination with death and the implications of it was the only thing that kept her here. If she wasn't interested in killing she wouldn't have let her parents goad her into coming here. Of course, she'd been trained to kill her whole life but she could've always used those skills in something that wasn't assassination. But she liked this whole atmosphere, surrounded by so many interesting people.
When Kendall arrived at her dorm it was thankfully empty. She liked Rae just fine just didn't really feel like having someone else in here at the moment. She dropped her satchel on the bed and shrugged her jacket off her shoulders. After carefully folding the jacket on her bed she shuffled over to her desk and rifled through the drawers for a moment before procuring a worn looking leather bound journal from its depths. Kendall sat down and undid the clasp on the front of the journal and flipped through at least twenty pages of neatly written names an information. She liked to call this thing her people journal and all it really did was help her keep track of everyone she'd ever come across and found interesting. These were either people she hated to death or simply was intrigued by. Part of it was a hit list but the other part was just a catalog of people. Kendall plucked a pen from the exceptionally organized holders on her desk and smoothed out the empty page in front of her. With a careful hand she put pen to paper and wrote out Josephine's name in red ink. Next to the name she wrote, doesn't belong here, and then flipped the journal closed again.
After writing Josephine down in her journal, Kendall picked her jacket back up and made her way back out of her room. Taking the remaining flights down to the basement. Kendall typically spent her free period closed away in some quiet place or another, but today she felt like sweating a little. When she arrived there was already two people she could see. Rae, of course, hacking away at a dummy and a boy, Atlas, who seemed to be having a hard time at the parkour station. She smirked at him and shook her head a little as she walked further into the room. The sight of a dagger streaking across her vision and landing at Atlas' feet had Kendall craning her neck up to look to the ceiling. She spotted a girl up in the rafters. Kendall shook a finger at her and made a clicking noise with her tongue as she took her jacket off once again.
"Sneaky. Though, I might've aimed for the ear. Better reaction." Kendall spoke flatly and strode over to the rack of available weapons. She picked up a pair of shining kamas and twirled them around in her hands with a practiced ease before descending on dummy in the corner in flurry of precise movements. When she stepped away the dummy was missing an ear and had a curved shape sliced into its chest. Kendall chuckled.
Raelyn had expertly grabbed the frog and extracted the poison using the syringe. It was quite well done.
"Wow nice work." Josh said.
Now he and Mags would have to extract the poison from their frog. She handed the Syringe to him. Well he didn't know how to do this but if he died or the frog died, maybe he'd get expelled.
He sighed and grabbed a pair of gloves before putting them on. Grabbing the Syringe and slowly poking the point of it into the frog's poison sac, he slowly drained the poison out of it.
He filled the syringe before putting it back on the table.
"There that should be good." He told before turning to Mags.
"So now what?"
Just as he began to speak, the class bell rang signaling that the class was over. If he remembered correctly they had a free period at this point of time.
"Does anyone wanna hang out or do something during the free period?"
He would have to figure out where his dorm was eventually but he kinda didn't feel like doing it right now.
He looked to the other girls awaiting an answer.
Rae had been to occupied with the dummy in front of her to have noticed that everyone had the same idea as her, combat room. Her brain wasn't there, she hadn't bothered to put on any gloves, wanting to make her hands stronger for real hand to hand combat. Her knuckles hurt, but it was the kind of pain she enjoyed, the kind of pain when you were building muscles, you would hurt for a bit but it would be all worth it in the long run. Rae was thinking about so many moments, like she was in a trance, worrying about everything and putting all of her worry into the strength behind her punches.
Within a moment everything had been interrupted, Rae heard a rush of air go by and her eyes came into focus. A dagger was there in the head of her dummy. Her eyes went wide, a bit she really needed to learn to be more aware of her surroundings, her focus was too great for this kind of job. Anyone could of killed her in that moment, she around, not too sure where the dagger could of come from. Her eyes trailed up the side of the wall, finally reaching Mae who happened to be hanging out on the ceiling. Rae smirked, narrowing her eyes. "You'll pay for that one." She laughed lightly.
No she didn't trust Mae, but they had gone through initiation together, and had known each other since acceptance. There really wasn't anyone at Villmont that she felt like she could really trust, but she was 65% sure that Mae wouldn't kill her out of no where. Rae pulled the dagger out of the dummy, spinning it between her fingers, watching the blade. "But." Her eyes traveled over to Kendall. "Kendall is right." A evil smirk crossed Rae's face, she touched the tip of the blade with her finger, turning it ever so slightly before she effortlessly throwing the dagger towards Mae, landing a few inches from the side of her ear.
Rae pressed her tongue to the side of her cheek, smirking, she could have probably gone for a bit of a riskier aim, but she rather not accidentally take of Mae's ear if she had moved even slightly. "It really works to get someones attention." She rolled her eyes, beginning to spin back around. "But then again, in this business, do you really want someone's attention."
It didn’t take too long for something to happen, as he closed up his water bottle he glanced over and moved back as a dagger penetrated the mat in front of him. He frowned annoyingly and kicked the dagger loose with his foot, picking it up and looking up at the rafters. The silent type huh? Mae wasn’t it? He looked over at Rae who also got a dagger sent her way, but instead decided to refund it. Sending it up to the her rafters. His eyes widened a bit before quietly dropping the dagger into his bag. “Cool gift. Much appreciated.” He mumbled before deciding to converse with everyone.
“So instead of throwing daggers at each other. Which sounds, amazingly fun.” He said sarcastically. “I think we should all do something else. Maybe a friendly competition,” or how close to friendly everyone can get. He thought. “Maybe sparing, maybe parkour, maybe archery. It doesn’t hurt to train with another person since that’s always better than a dummy.” He offered.
“Thank you…” She mumbled the response to the girl, her eyebrows furrowing at the strange compliment, if it even was one. Yes, she was indeed awkward. She had accepted that about herself and didn’t really know how to change any of that kind of stuff. Addison did not at all like this girl, whoever she was. She couldn’t tell if the girl was actively trying to get a reaction out of her or if she was naturally this creepy. She finally decided on both. While she avoided looking at the girl directly in the eyes, she still kept her full attention on her. When the girl moved to sit down, Addie turned just enough so she could still see the entirety of her body.
It was everything Addie could do to not squirm as the girl talked. Instead, she more or less tensed, but didn’t let it show. The more the conversation went on, the more she wanted class to be over. When the girl leaned in closer, Addie got up from her seat to put space between the two of them. “Yes… and you have an interesting amount of detail.” Addie moved towards the table and tapped on the petri dish absently. “And I’m sure everything you said is true.” It made her more intrigued about the toxin itself, even if she didn’t know how to express it in words.
It wasn’t long after that when the class finally ended. Addie quickly grabbed her stuff and causally took the petri dish as well. There wasn’t anything stating they couldn’t take it and she wanted to do some experimenting or research. She quickly departed from the girl without so much as a goodbye. She didn’t want to leave any of this stuff unprotected, so even though it was a free period, she kept it with her. There were some people milling about and some people headed somewhere specific. Addie was somewhere in between. She didn’t have a specific goal in mind besides exploring, but she was looking for a specific type of place.
It didn’t take her too long to find it and when she did, she couldn’t be more relieved. It was quite a sizable garden and it instantly calmed her. It didn’t mean she let her guard down, though. This was some type of school for killers, after all. She imagined there could be booby traps or other dangerous things there and she was going to be careful. She put her stuff on a nearby bench and put all her stuff down. She pulled off her jacket as well as her socks and shoes before moving over to a patch of grass. This little garden was the perfect place to work out and that she did, mostly focusing on stretching her muscles as much as she could. Flexibility was incredibly important to her specific style.
Renee watched the girl leave in a hurry. What was her problem? She was only describing the lethal nature of batrachotoxin, and giving a reason to not use it. None-the less, Renee had a burnt frog to dispose of. With a light hum Renee made her way back to her lab table. With tweezers in hand, Renee plucked up the twitching, nigh-dead charred frog. Then with her free hand, Renee slid it into a rubber glove. Slowly she waltzed on over to the bio-hazard bin and then disposed of the glove containing the frog, even going so far to preform a little twirl before dumping the frog into its final resting place. With a giggle, Renee clasped her hands together, "Rest in peace."
She lingered around the room to clean up any messes people had left behind. It was clear that at-least half of the classroom had little respect for the art of poison, and the condition of the lab showed that. Crooked chairs, non-disposed of waste, and several other small details. Truly a mob of cretins. After spending a few minutes straightening things up, and disposing of some loose hazardous material, Renee made her way out to the hallway. Judging by the odd-silence, Renee wagered most people had gone downstairs to either their dorms, or the combat room. Maybe she could go find someone to spend this free-period with? After-all, she needed test-subjects.
Making her way downstairs towards her dorm, she crossed by the office of the instructors. Renee peered into the office area and spied a robust, all-american looking man. Her dead, foggy blue stare became affixed on him for a moment, "Nice" she said beneath her breath before continuing on her way. She giggled to her self as she leisurely walked down the stairs with a light-pink blush anointing her pale skin - what a fine piece of meat that man was. Eagerly, Renee began to estimate how much drugs it would take to put him under, what kind restraints to hold him, and how much torture to break him. The thought gave Renee so much pleasure that her footing fumbled, and she had to catch herself on the arm-rail.
Once back in her dorm-room, Renee retrieved her briefcase of toxins, noise cancelling headphones, microphone, and her laptop. Additionally, she took note how the opposite bed in her room remained occupied, when would she get her roommate?
Renee was tempted to swing by the combat room and take a peek inside, but elected not to. It already took long enough to get up and downstairs. Out of breath, Renee finally made it to the rooftop. She placed her various belongings down and took a second to compose herself. Renee reached in her pocket and produced her smartphone. She then sent out a dark-tweet with the intention of inviting someone to join her on the roof for a little experiment. While she waited, Renee stepped near the railing and looked down to the garden below. Her eyes became fixed on a familiar looking dot - it was that girl from the lab-room who had insulted her. She stared for a moment, and kept an frigid composure. She then turned to sit down on the rooftop directly across from the rooftop door. Patiently she awaited a potential 'guest.'
North was hesitant to touch the frog, and winced slightly as he poked at the moist skin. Definitely not built for this, he thought to himself. "'Kay Riley, you're making it sound so easy but it's harder than it looks." He continued to struggle with the needle, slipping against he slimy frog skin. He let out a grateful sigh once Clayton had greeted the group which had provided a viable excuse to drop the surgery tools. North first nodded at Clayton, known for his skills on the computer, an ability he respected because it was one of the only things he felt he couldn't do. At least not on the same level as the Miller boy. "Same old, same old." He answered Clayton's question, but kept his focus fixed on Riley. He'd angled his chair towards her
He let out a sigh of relief once the class had come to an end. He stood up from his seat, grabbed his bag, and stretched out a hand to pull her up. "The break was actually shit. I'll get more into detail in my dorm," North had a noticeable smirk when he'd mentioned going back to his room. "My roomie hasn't showed up yet. Not sure I'm getting one this year- because of last year, I guess. And sure, I'd love to meet your friends, Ry."
"Sure sure Kendall" she threw back at the girl as she watched Atlas commandeer her knife. How the other girl managed to do her job with her little addiction was beyond her it really was. "But ya see I kinda didn't want to risk cutting his ear off if he moved ya know?" Her tongue poked out at Kendall as she began attacking the dummy. "Real subtle girl, real subtle." Mae couldn't help but roll her eyes at the girl just in time to feel her knife whistle past her ear. Her smirk returned as she pulled the knife from the ceiling and placed it back in its strap, using her other hand to give a little finger curling wave to Rae before placing the hand over her heart. "Oh I'm sure I will pay," she replied with a slightly patronising tone to her voice, kind of like she was talking to a little kid.
Man she enjoyed the banter at the academy. If you were around the right people then you could really have some fun and Maeve had known Raelynn long enough that they could joke around quite easily. It made things far more interesting if you could have fun amidst all the murderisation and all. As long as known one tried to get more than skin deep with her then Mae was all good with socialising; but the second things like feelings were mentioned she was gone like a shot.
Rae was right though, for her the job was about being nothing more than a shadow and not drawing attention. However sometimes it was more fun to draw attention to herself. With a quick cat-like dart across the beam she was currently on, Maeve was above a point just past Rae. With a deep breath in she back-flipped over the edge and landed in a crouch a couple of feet in front of the other assassin before straightening up with a grin. "But just because you don't want attention doesn't mean that you shouldn't be paying attention." Mae's head cocked slightly with the verbal jab, "You should be used to that by now Rae," she added folding her arms before looking over at the only boy in the room as he spoke. "Oh I'm always up for sparring, waaay more fun."
Kendall kind of smirked at Mae's words and lodged one of the kamas into the side of the dummies head. She made a point to accentuate the missing ear and just shrugged her shoulders. Where was the fun in that? Cutting off someone's ear would garner an even better reaction of course. It's not like they really needed two anyway. They could hear without it, just maybe not as well. Besides, if she was ever going to cut off someones ear it wouldn't matter anyway because they were most likely going to die. If they didn't bleed out before she got to work it would be a whole lot more painful. Kendall remembered her first kill for a moment as she gazed at the dummy. She remembered the sound the kama had made as it lodged itself in his head, she remembered smiling at it. But that memory came with another that she didn't want to remember. Kendall blinked and shook her head, pulling herself out of her reverie just in time to hear Atlas say something about competition.
"Sparing is more fun." Kendall agreed with Mae as she dislodged the kama, "Besides, you seemed to be having a little trouble with the parkour." She gestured to the course. Kendall had done her fair share of parkour in her life. Her father had been quite adamant to teach her a thing or two. You should always have an escape route. But she hadn't really ever used it in the mission sense. She was decent at it but she definitely wasn't some prodigy. By the looks of it, Atlas wasn't either. She figured Mae was probably pretty good at it, and the only thing she really knew Rae was good at was archery. Too distant for her liking. She wanted them to see her, to see their death.
"If you guys feel like getting rough, that is." Kendall smiled a sort of smile that glinted without cause, "I don't spar with sissies." She reached down and pulled her carving knife out of her boot and brandished the thing at the three of them, "I don't spar with fists either." With that she sat herself down on a bench, figuring she wouldn't be sparing with any of them anyway. If none of them felt up to the risk, she was more than content to just watch. It could be good to gauge their abilities a little more anyway.
Mags was relieved that the bell had rung and that they no longer had to deal with the frog. She just hated being around groups of people and honestly all she had wanted to do was to avoid the world. She decided that maybe just sitting outside was the best option, a place to breathe, she knew going back to the room would only cause her to have to leave for her next class and outside she would get air. Something wholesome for the body and it seemed like most people were heading to the combat room. Could she have used the extra practice? Sure. The point was that she just didn't need to deal with more people because people were a nuisance.
She looked to Josh, "Good job not killing the frog." and then she left. She could've been nicer and hung out with the boy but that wasn't her style, hell. The school wasn't her style. her life had been changed since coming to the academy and she couldn't tell if it was for the better. She made her way outside to a little grassy patch where she could take her moment in silence, most people didn't come outside anyways when it came to been at the academy. It was always murder, fighting, death, and all the negatives. Not that Mags cared but she didn't want all the energy, chaos...and smell. People smelled not all of them but occasionally someone would forget about hygiene and the smell, so she took it upon herself to just avoid the combat room when it was full. To try and go outside and find inner peace or some shit like that. So that was her plan for the time being with the small free time that they had.
Rae's eyes traveled to each person surrounding her. Atlas who had been working on his parkour skills, her murderous roommate, and Mae who had been hiding in the rafters, just waiting on someone to scare. Rae rolled her eyes at Atlas' sarcastic comment, "Welcome Villmont, the school for assassins." Maybe throwing daggers at each other wasn't necessarily part of the brochure, but if you give assassin students any sort of freedom, what else would you really expect from them. Most of these kids were bred for killing, and either had an obsession with blood or sharp objects, but usually both...
Mae made a comment about Rae's lack of attention on her surroundings, Rae crossed her arms, Mae was right but all the same, Rae didn't necessarily like sass being thrown back at her. But she really did need to be more aware of her surroundings, in a school like this, when anyone could throw a dagger at you at any given time, yea she should probably work on that...
In a moment Rae's emotions went from relatively annoyed, to anxious. She dropped her arms back to her side before lacing them behind her, using her thumb to trace spirals on her palm. Her breath got slightly quicker, she started to focus on it for a moment. Rae was trying to hid her anxious nature that came about whenever sparring was mentioned, could she make it through? Yes. Was she any good? Also, yes, but her anxiety usually would get in the way of her ever winning. Even in a controlled environment like the academy.
But Kendall only wanted to spar with equipment, and Rae didn't want to seem like a wuss, she wasn't one for giving in. She couldn't let herself look weak in front of all these people. She wouldn't let herself look weak in front of so many people. She was too proud for that, she was too good for that. Her arms fell to her side once more, drawing out her own knife from the holster on her thigh.
She nodded to Atlas and Mae. "I'm in if they're in."
Mel slipped out of the door the second class ended, not caring to wait around for any of her classmates. She ducked into the hall and walked down it with no destination, simply walking to get away from poisons class. Her gut was starting to twist at the thought of what she did to the frog; Surely there was some over way she could've gotten its poison, preferably without mutilating it. Turning the corner out of sight from her classmates, she leaned against the wall and slid out her phone.
Not long after she turned on her phone, a light ding sounded and a notification dropped across the screen.Dark Twitter? A wave of confusion overtook Melissa before she remembered the platform that was apparently so popular among her classmates. It was a bit odd, and she was still getting used to it. She saw it was a tweet from Renee, the ghostly girl from poisons. An invitation to the roof. Remnants of her suspicion from earlier stirred in her gut, but Mel shook it off and headed for the stairs. It was better then sitting around for a whole period.
Gathering her breath and dashing up the stairs, Melissa approached the double doors to the roof with a shaky exhale. Wiping her forehead, she swung the door open and stepped out to see the pale girl sitting across from the entrance, her gaze fixated on it. "Oh, uh, hi." She said, avoiding her eyes and sitting down a few feet away from her. "You said you wanted someone?"
Twenty-minutes passed and no-one was biting. This is why Renee despised social-media. It was such a prideful thing that people used as a soap-box. She sat idly for a moment and browsed her classmates dark-tweets, and scoffed at each and everyone of them. Renee had no basis on which she found disgust in them, but she just found disgust. Her own participation in this "dark-tweet" thing was its only redeeming quality. Renee smiled viewing her own dark-tweets with an odd satisfaction - all in haiku. Who cares about your thoughtless, unbalanced, and quite frankly - stupid tweets if they are not neatly packaged? "Yuck... stupid stupid stupid. What kind of name is babybird? I crush little b... irds," Renee tapped her phone angrily for no particular reason, and then pocketed her it.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and Renee jumped up with uncharacteristic energy. Renee instantly relaxed once she saw it was the frog-burner from earlier, "Hmm... so you... of all people." She took two careful steps towards her. These steps were a little test to determine the girls temperament. If she backed away, it might allude she is more prone to flight. On the other hand, if she tensed up it might allude that she was more prone to fighting. Whatever the reaction, Renee took mental note of it. "And don't worry... compensation, and a clear mind will be provided," her voice was cold and Renee began to pace left and right - never breaking eye-contact.
After a moment of pacing like a little lion, Renee turned to her brief-case and opened it. She produced a rolled up yoga-mat, and unrolled it. Then she haphazardly tossed it in front of her visitor, "P.. please - Lay down, get comfortable." Renee let out a sheepish giggle, and a pink blush anointed her pale face, "Oh... I know what you're thinking. No... the mat has been cleaned, so do not worry about hygiene."
She chuckled, "It's super easy, you're just overthinking." The bell rang for their free period much sooner than she had expected. Or maybe she wasn't paying the time much attention at all. In any case, she gathered up her things, placing them in her bag in a certain order to keep a neat look, despite the fact nobody would look into her book bag. She didn't have anything interesting, except for some gum, but she didn't bring it out in class so nobody knew about it. After grabbing the last pencil, Riley glanced up to North, who had his hand outstretched waiting for her. She took it with a slight smile, standing up from the table.
A few months ago when they first started dating, she wouldn't have even held his hand, that whole shy about PDA thing or something. Now she was very comfortable doing this, but she was still working on getting used to the other stuff. She hated it when he kissed her in public because it always made her blush like a little girl, and so while she was obviously gonna go with him, she was pretending like she didn't hear the comment about his dorm room. Or at least, what he might have been implying. "You know, I'm not sure if I have one either. I'm assuming I do, but I haven't seen her yet." It was a little puzzling, or maybe she and the mystery girl were just that good at avoiding detection. "North, I think you've met the friends I'm talking about." She never said their names at Villmont, it was too dangerous for them. "Anyway, let's get going before Kephie throws us out."
After flashing a polite smile at Clayton she made her way towards the door. On her way out she passed North and Riley. She nodded to them as she breezed by. Now that it was her free period Jamila wasn’t sure about what she should do. Seeing as she had eaten before class, she wasn’t hungry in the slightest.
"Still a good way to spend your summer." Clayton smiled at Riley, turning his head towards North, nodding. "I feel that." Clayton didn't do much himself that summer. He hung around the academy for the most part, he hadn't really contacted his family ever since starting at the academy. He didn't think killing people, was something they should be proud of. And keeping his distance meant that they were safer. The less everyone knew, the better.
The couple had turned their attention back to each other, and the frog in front of them. Clayton had at least finished the project that had been assigned thanks to Elias. "Sounds simple for a girl at an assassins school." He smirked raising an eyebrow, he wasn't sure he believed her entirely about it 'just some flowers' but he wouldn't push it. He looked up as he heard the bell ring, and smiled back at Jamila as she left. Clayton was the last one left in class, he stood up from the table walking back towards his original seat swinging his bag over his shoulder.
Clayton needed fresh air, after being in poisons class, all of the chemicals and the smell of frog really got to his head. Clayton pushed through the door taking a deep breath in, squinting his eyes at the light. The academy really didn't have much natural light in it so he took any chance he got to get outside.
Once Clayton's eyes had adjusted to the light he saw a familiar brunette who happened to have the same idea as him. "Mags" He said nonchalantly, smiling as he sat down cross legged next to her. "Hope you don't mind the company." He leaned back against his hands. He sighed rather loudly, almost obnoxiously. "It's beautiful out here, too bad there is only so many weeks left of this before we hit winter." He rolled his eyes at the thought of it. He hated the cold and everything about it, if he could wish for anything, he wished that this school was in California. Beaches, surfing, god he missed it...
As Mags was relaxing outside letting her mind at peace she felt presence come outside. She was staying on guard because no one could be trusted at the academy no matter who they were. That was when she heard a familiar voice, the voice of Clayton. She let her eyes open to look at him not making a change to how she felt. He was a social guy, he was nice, nicer than most others at the academy. Probably a weakness for here but overall she didn't feel anything real negative towards him though sometimes his chipper attitude was a little off putting for her. She let windblown in her hair and then he spoke which only bothered her slightly not that she would let on to any annoyance around him. She just wanted silence but she had no reason to be harsh towards him.
She turned her attention towards Clayton angering herself a little more towards his direction, she had a feeling he was going to talk. He seemed like a talker compared to others at the school. "The outside is refreshing after class. Winter has its perks with the snow and cold and the warm drinks that come with it." she shrugged a little. To her the changes in the seasons wasn't a big deal. They always changed and they always came back. It was a cyclic way of life, so monotonous, a little pointless. Almost similar to the fact of small talk. She knew she should make nice with everyone at the academy and Clayton came with his perks and he wasn't the worst person to look at. At least he had a bonus to his talkative nature a pretty face came with it and that usually helped Mags continue talking with him. She felt nothing really towards him but she could recognize when someone was considered 'pretty' and he was a 'pretty boy'. A small internal sigh occurred in Mags before she decided to attempt to be friendly, "Why aren't you with the rest inside?" she asked not looking at him but looking more towards the sky absorbing the rays of the sun.
Mel tried to keep calm as Renee approached her, but couldn't help but hear her breath hitch. She didn't trust the gaunt girl, especially when she pulled open her briefcase and let a yoga mat flop onto the ground. "Um, are you expecting me to get on that?" She said, trying to keep her nervousness from edging into her voice. "No thanks, hun." Melissa had been trying to lose her old speaking habits; A valley girl probably wasn't the best impression when you're going to a school for homicidal maniacs. The habit had proved hard to suppress, especially when she got stressed.
She stood silently for few seconds before realizing that she wasn't getting whatever 'compensation' Renee had promised unless she followed her instructions. "You know what, fine." She said, throwing her hands up in mild frustration. Padding closer to the mat, she tentatively kneeled down before slowly lowering herself flat on her back. Tucking her hair behind her shoulders, she looked up at the open sky nervously. She felt exposed.
"So, what are we doing here? I think it might be against the rules to kill other students," Mel quipped, a nervous laugh falling from her lips. Clenching and unclenching her hands at her side, she trained her eyes on Renee's figure. The girl had said to relax, but she was doing anything but. I am not dying on a yoga mat.
As Melissa gazed up at Renee's slight figure it would become glaringly obvious that if she had to physically defend herself it would be simple. One swift move, a grab, and a simple toss off the building. Renee did not appear to weigh more than a sack of heavy feathers. Surely, Mel might find some sort of comfort in her obvious physical superiority, but even with this fact - you cannot do much if you are paralyzed. It would start as relaxing, tingling, and warm sensation in Mel's arms and legs. Soon that relaxed feeling would cease, and amount to absolutely nothing. An empty void where her arms, and legs were - paralysis.
Prior to this arrangement, Renee had lightly coated the inside of the yoga mat with a low-level paralyzing agent. This is why Renee did not bother to carefully roll the mat out, and instead just flopped it on the ground. This was done to avoid making contact with the agent herself. Of-course, the dosage only worked at a light enough to level to paralyze, and not shut down any vital functions. Mel could still talk, breath, blink, and so on - she just could not run.
"N...ow, please do not scream, yell, or panic," Renee walked over, bending over to look directly down at Mel. Renee's long, knotted, uncut hair fell down onto Mel's face, "I only did this as a therapeutic measure... my dear participant." Renee allowed herself to crack a slight grin, but she really wanted to jump for joy in a blissful ecstasy - this was so thrilling. "If you do choose to yell... I will g... lady," Renee leaned in closer, "Shut you up... as the simpletons would say."
Renee walked over to her case of items and walked over with her soundproofed headphones in hand. These headphones were attached to her laptop, and her laptop had a decent quality microphone connected to them, "All... I want to do - is help you - help yourself." Renee would then sit down next to Mel, "You killed someone... to get in here... we all did. I want to help you get over that, or even relive it," Renee's cadence of her speech quickened with excitement slipping through the cracks, "You see I'm what you would call a hypno-therapist without any formal licences because those simple-minded cretins would never approve someone like me. Too many ethics in the world.... but I won't do anything unethical to you my dear little friend. I'm going to make you all... alll.... allll.... better!" Renee now had a blatantly bright blush on her face and a slight dribble of saliva escaping her mouth. She wiped the saliva from her face, "N... Noow," her voice was shaking, seemingly coming down from a high, "Any que... questions frog burner?"
Well Josh had no reason at this point to find his dorm. Fuck this school. It was pure hell.
Taking poison from a frog? That would be useful.... if they ran into the Amazon Rain-forest. Truthfully he kinda already read up on it. Which is why he had mentioned to the girls about removing it from the sac. Nobody even really mentioned his knowledge but it wasn't important. Nobody bothered to even hang out with him.
He didn't wanna be here. He barely learned anything he already couldn't do and everyone was absolutely as boring as the school.
Perhaps it was time to try making a plan to escape. Although he knew they would probably just track him down again and bring him back. He already tried escaping here.
Perhaps he could convince the administration to let him graduate from this place. Well it couldn't be helped at this point. He would just find his room and slam his head into his pillow.
Finally finding the room that appeared to be his, he entered it and dropped his stuff off. Who could be his roommate this year?
Last year it was some annoying guy who thought anime was the coolest thing ever and wouldn't shut up about it. Nobody treated this place as what it really was. A prison. Not a school.
He'd been for years now and nothing interesting ever happened. He was tired of being a slave to the system. That's all everyone here was. Was there even a rule against killing anyone? He could swear people did disappear but he wasn't sure if they somehow graduated or just got killed by somebody.
It really was a gorgeous day out, the slight wind made it an extremely comfortable day. Not too hot, but no where near cold. The one plus of living on the east coast now was the seasons, he just really, really, hated winter. "Winter only makes warm drinks semi more enjoyable. You can totally drink a hot chocolate in the middle of summer and still love it." He smirked tilting his head towards Mags. "Most people wake up every day and drink hot coffee, its basically the same thing." Clayton raised his eyebrows, "Hot chocolate tastes better than coffee too, its a win win."
Clayton's eyes trailed towards the blue sky above them. The Academy sure had opened a lot of opportunities for him, even if this had never been the plan. New York had been great to explore, even though he could live without the winter, he really didn't completely hate it here. He took another deep breath as Mags asked her own question.
"After breathing in all those chemicals in poisons class, I was dying for some fresh air." Clayton pulled at a few blades of grass on the ground, rolling it between his fingers. "Plus, combat room? Not really in my list of skills." He let his head drop down just a bit, watching his hands roll the blade of grass. Clayton really didn't give a crap about fighting, he had no interest in really ever trying either. The one season of wrestling was enough for him. Clayton might be convinced to pick up a gun and work on his target practice it, but it wasn't something he would do just for fun unlike most of the other students. "What about you? Why are you out here, instead of in there?"
North stood up from his seat at the ringing bell, and nodded at Riley's words. "Better get out before she has anything to say about me being late." He laughed slightly, and waited for her to stand up before he made his way to the door. "I have? You've got to re-introduce us then, if I've only met them once my memory might get a lil' fuzzy, hm. Not that I have bad memory. Better than you." He smirked slightly at the last comment. As he made way to the hallway, he stretched his hands down towards Riley's, hoping greatly in his head that she'd hold his. He wasn't completely sure the limits of their PDA, but hand-holding..? "Anyways, I don't think I've got a roommate this year. There was no one up there when I first showed up. Want to go check it out and do things couples do alone?" He was staring down at Riley now, white teeth biting down at his lower lip.
(sorry its so short)
