To Sam, a Hoenn native, it was just another day in Mallville City. A little joke he often told himself, since the renovation. Not that he minded the added convenience of an entire city under the air-conditioned and protected roof of a larger building. It was great! Sam couldn't imagine what kind of engineering voodoo they had to try to pull a feat like this off. Apparently, Mauville City had become a bit of a tourist attraction because of it. A shame he couldn't visit more often, but he had work to do. He couldn't stay here long, everything sold here was much too expensive and Route 118 was almost literally right around the corner. As soon as he finished taking some notes on the wingulls here, he was off to Verdanturf Town to take notes on the Volbeat, Illumise, and Taillow around there.

The ticklish feeling of Vivian crawling from his shoulder to his head quickly dragged him out of his thoughts. A bit annoyed, he looked up into his bangs to find the Joltik waving at him from above. Joltik was hungry. Sam sighed, now feeling a bit guilty. "Fine, we can head over to the Food Court for a quick bite, but after we gotta get going, alright?" Other than crawling to the top of his head, there was very little reaction from Vivian. She must be tired he thought, better head there quick before she nods off. A quick battle and purchase later, he was out snacking on a Magnemite Croquette while Vivian slept comfortably on his right shoulder. A double battle was a bit tricky, but the people challenging trainers in the Battle Food Court were usually not particularly skilled trainers anyway. It was a gimmick that had worked for them so far, and this being Sam's umpteenth time visiting Mauville City, he really didn't mind the small challenge at all.

Scarfing down the Croquette, he tossed the wrapper into a trash bin in the hall, heading towards Route 118. On his way there, he couldn't help but notice a young man and woman motioning towards the roof of the bike shop. He shifted his gaze up a bit only to see an Emolga taunting them from the railing above the store front. Also a red-haired man using a Noctowl to help them-. Wait. A Noctowl! Immediately intrigued by the foreign bird Pokemon, he decided to stick around a bit. "Anyway, we should be ready to follow them should Sparks fly off", Sam heard the man say. Sparks. Probably the name of the mischievous Emolga. He subconsciously stopped walking, curiosity getting the better of him. Just getting to see the Noctowl catch the Emolga would be entertaining enough to get his researching side invested in the scene in front of him.

Mare chuckled. "I actually haven't been there yet. I got my outfit from some weird chick who spoke in anime titles and somehow verbalised sparkles. I'm not even joking. I think her name was Lisia or something like that. Famous contest star or something. Now, if we're going to the clothing store we better get moving. Come on." Mare made a 'come on' gesture

Half an hour later...

"No. No. No. Ugh." Mare was sorting through contest costumes and all of them either didn't fit her or were terrible. Why was there literally nothing good. It was all so sparkly and gaudy. Wasn't there any sensible contest outfit. Mare sighed.
Gracia just kept looking through a few costumes either - none really struck her fancy nor fit her as well. "Yeesh, what the heck are these? I thought these were supposed to be actual costumes, not hand-me-downs..." She joked mildly, but also a little bit like 'what is this', as in angry. She kept looking, gradually calming down, but alas, there wasn't anything good or that she was interested in! I mean, they're not strictly 'bad', but they're not exactly what Gracia expected...

Ezra had rubbed the back of his head, chuckling a little at the compliment that Whimsy gave him. Or, well, Hoots. He supposed the Noctowl was rather incredible; not that he didn't agree or know that before. He just forgot about how magnificent Pokémon were in general beyond just the simple facts of each particular one. He chuckled at the disguised Zoroark's disgruntled feeling at not being pegged as incredible by its own trainer. Ezra would have made sure Jay was rained upon by compliments of his own, but he held back, for fear he'd go back into another spiel about facts on a Pokémon that Whimsy probably knew already.

Just when they were about to head off in search of Sparks, Jay had observed that none of them had been formally introduced to one another. Ezra blinked, and he felt his cheeks flush. "Oh! Of course," he couldn't help but chuckle along with her, embarrassed that hadn't been the first thing he thought of. Once Whimsy introduced herself and her companions, Ezra was happy to shake her hand and exchange his own name. "Ezra. And of course, Hoots, as you know from earlier," he smiled brightly at Whimsy, before exchanging the same smile with Jay and Ghost. Though, he couldn't help but lean down and scratch the Espurr's head softly. It reminded him of the Meowth his mother owned. His father always complained about how she carried it around like a baby after Ezra grew too old. He liked being reminded of small things like that. Though, it made him miss Johto more than he had imagined. Speaking of regions, Whimsy mentioned she hadn't been to Mauville before, which led Ezra to imagine she didn't come from Hoenn.

"If you don't mind my asking, where are you from? You mentioned it was your first time in Mauville City." Ezra remembered his first time coming here. The amount of times he got hopelessly lost was unreal. It was an easy thing to do, especially in a place such as Mauville. Come to think of it, he got lost everywhere in Hoenn. Part of the reason why he invested in a map. Though, once Jay had announced he had found the stairwell leading up to the higher levels, he started making his way over to him, nudging his head from Whimsy to Jay. "We can talk on the way," he chuckled.

Hoots, by this stage, had made it to the public rooftop in no time at all. She landed on the top of a nearby lamp post, inspecting the vicinity around her. At first, all she could see were various people either sitting on benches with food, other Pokémon and their trainers enjoying the view of a bright sky and green pastures of Hoenn. Then, eventually her eyes focused on something waddling along the railings of the open roof. An Emolga.

Spreading her wings, she took to the air once again, though, seemed silent in her pursuit. She flew overhead of the Emolga, before she landed gracefully on the railings in front of her. She folded her wings by her side, before she leaned down towards the Emolga, curious to get a good look at it. Yes...the right one. Though, now that she thought about it, there were few Emolgas around here as of late, bar Sparks. "Hooo..." The nocturnal Pokémon began communicating, raising one of her wings almost to gesture down below. It was a clear sign to tell Sparks that the little game of catch was over. Though, Hoots wouldn't be surprised if she tried to take off again...

Whimsy smiled as she shook his hand, "You have a very unique name, Ezra. It's a pleasure." Watching him give some attention to Ghost caused her to chuckle as she felt the Espurr's purrs against her chest. It obvious that the psychic kitten was enjoying the attention Ezra was willingly dishing out. "He must have found the magic spot aye Ghost," the girl lightly teased which earned an upbeat mew from the Pokémon in question. Hearing her partner callout to the about having found the way up Whimsy beamed. Though before they started moving the girl heard Ezra ask where she was from. Suddenly a sense of dread washed over the blonde haired teen as she tried to come up with an answer to give him. Surely she couldn't blurt out her home address, that in itself is weird. But she couldn't really give away the exact city either. If Jay was correct her parents could be starting a massive manhunt for her return. Once they realized she wasn't anywhere within her home region it would be only a matter of time before they started searching for her in other regions. If they don't give up that is.

When Ezra motioned that they start moving, and mentioning that they can talk while walking, she gave a small nod. As she started walking towards Jay with her temporary companion Whimsy noticed a boy, perhaps a year younger than herself, staring at them before his gaze shifted up towards the flying Pokémon above them. With a soft smile she waved hello to Sam before walking off with Ezra.

"Where I'm from is what you want to know," with her smile still on her face Whimsy finished her sentence, "The answer is Kalos." As she said this they happened to pass Jay, who upon hearing that caused him to raise a brow. With his trainer being on the run he wasn't sure if her telling Ezra, an otherwise complete stranger, what region she's from. Especially since he looked like the type to watch and read the news every morning. But he had to let her make her own decisions and live with the consequences. Looking over to the northwest corner of the city Jay pointed towards a flight of stairs that led upwards, "Right there." Whimsy grinned as she saw them, "Excellent!" She felt like running for them, but she knew in this crowd that wouldn't be the best option out of fear of getting separated from Jay, or losing Ezra. So she walked a steady pace with them.

Coming to the bottom of the stairs, a few minutes later, Whimsy turned her attention to Ezra.
"Where might you be from Ezra? Perhaps a native or frequent traveler," the girl inquired as she started walking up the staircase. Jay also turned his attention towards the red head in question. He was equally, if not more, curious about the guy that was offering a helping hand.

Seeing talons now in front of her, Sparks was taken a bit aback.
"Emol?!" Turning her gaze upwards the electric type was met with the gaze of a Noctowl. Sparks looked at the owl Pokémon confused as to why she was up here. But her questions were soon answered by a simple wing gesture, causing Sparks to look down towards the main city. As she did she notice her trainer heading somewhere with Jay and- a boy? "Emo," Sparks gasped in confusion as she rubbed her eyes to make sure it wasn't a trick.

It wasn't. Whimsy was indeed walking somewhere with a boy she hadn't met; and, from the looks of it, the Noctowl in front of her was the boys. Sitting on the rail the Emolga huffed at the fact that Hoots was there to help Whimsy. Glancing at the grass nearby caused Sparks to smile. Hopping off the rail she started scampering through the bit of grass towards a tree she spotted not to far away. If she was going to have a babysitter, might as well get comfortable!

As Ezra had shifted his gaze back to Whimsy to see if she was following, he couldn't help but notice another person - not much younger than both him and Whimsy - watching them. At first, the redhead was caught off guard by the sight, noticeable in his flinching, but he let his expression soften as he passed a smile at him, continuing on her way to the public roof with Whimsy. Though, for a moment, he wondered what could have gotten that young man so interested in the both of them...

Ezra's attention was shifted back to Whimsy, who finally got around to answering his question. He had been nervous about it at first, since he noticed her tensing up. He thought he had pried too much into the girl's personal business, and had an apology lined up to spout out in case she refused to answer the question. Though, he hadn't needed to prepare at all, it seemed. Ezra smiled, the relief lighting up in his eyes, before he responded. "Kalos, huh? You know, I've never been to Kalos before." It was no lie; Ezra had managed to work his way through parts of regions with Birch. They were only short business trips, so it meant there was little time to be travelling throughout the whole region. He wondered why the two hadn't travelled to Kalos in their time working together, though, he supposed he didn't have any research activities planned over there. "I'd love to go there some day," Ezra beamed, looking to Whimsy enthusiastically. "It seems like an interesting region. Plus, the variety of environments and Pokémon to study..." The thought had him giddy. He had missed travelling, just as much as he had missed home, it seemed.

As they travelled towards the stairs, it was Whimsy's turn to ask Ezra the exact same question. He noticed the curious looks coming from both Jay and Whimsy, and he figured he couldn't wiggle out of leaving the question unanswered. Not that he wanted to anyway. He chuckled a little as he explained, "I come from Johto." He responded rather proudly, and well, in a short manner. He followed up behind both Whimsy and Jay on the stairwell. "I've lived in Hoenn for a few years and done some travelling with Professor Birch, since I study under him," Ezra beamed with enthusiasm, something else he was rather proud of. Or, well, someone else. To Whimsy and Jay, it could have seemed as if he was giving rather short and vague details on purpose, but Ezra hadn't anything to hide. It was his nature not to disclose a whole history of what he had done, who he had met, and so forth. He'd rather disclose an encyclopedia on Pokémon since it would be more useful.

The Emolga certainly wasn't happy its game was coming to an end, that was for sure. Hoots had remained perched there and watched Sparks silently, trying to predict what its next move would be. She watched Sparks gasp in surprise at its trainer, Jay, and her own trainer, Ezra, though, she wondered what was so surprising. Perhaps that she had been found so quickly. Or maybe it was something to do with Hoots and Ezra...regardless, she returned her thoughtful gaze back to Sparks. She was sure that she would start up a chase again, but had tilted her head in surprise at Sparks as she teetered off into the grass, and towards a tree.

Hoots cooed at Sparks, before she followed suit towards the tree. She found herself perching on a branch, almost as if to keep a watchful eye on the Emolga, though, seemed to nestle its wings into its body as if to make itself comfortable. It wasn't as if Hoots never perched or sat within a tree often, but she always found a comfort in being near one. She was thankful Ezra was smart enough to have some sort of replica tree stand for her to perch on most of the time at home, but nothing beat a heavy branch thick with bark underneath your talons. She watched for Sparks to settle underneath the shade of the tree, or perhaps to scamper up the tree onto another branch to wait for their trainers with her.

A chuckle escaped the girl as she listened to Ezra express his interest in the star shaped region, "It is an interesting place. All the different environments create a sort of perfect storm, allowing a multitude of different Pokémon to live there happily. We have mountains, oceans, snow, marshes, a desert, forests. There are also a bunch of older monuments there. I'd say that it's a very unique place. That's probably why so many people like to visit. Or is it for the fashion?" That last statement made Whimsy ponder for a moment as she climbed the stairs. Though after a moment passed she shrugged her shoulders. Hearing him mention that he was from and why he was in Hoenn made her smile, "So you're a professor in training? That explains your knowledge on Hoots, and Noctowls as a whole. Must also means a whole lot more than you're letting off," she snickered playfully. As they continued walking up the steps Whimsy adjusted the duffle bag sitting on her right shoulder, "Sorry buddy," she mumbled while setting Ghost on her head before adjusting the guitar case slung across her back. Once they were hanging off of her comfortably Whimsy removed the Espurr from her head gently before holding him again.

When the group made it to the landing Jay grabbed his trainer by the shoulder, causing her to stop.
"Jay? What's wrong?" Confused by the disguised Zoroark's sudden need to stop. Though his reasoning became clear a minute later. Reaching a hand out he grabbed at Whimsy's white duffle bag, this made her slip her arm from under the straps, then he slipped it on his own arm. "You don't need to be carrying everything all the time. If you need help just ask me," Jay told her sternly. It was almost as if he was an older sibling by the way he spoke and acted. But Whimsy just smiled and laughed, "Alright! I'll remember for next time, honest!" Her laughter softened his expression a bit as he rolled his eyes. "Ok! Lets finish climbing. Shall we?" With that Whimsy started clming there stairs once more.

Upon making it to the rooftop Whimsy was taken aback by the grass and trees scattered around. It seemed that they designed the city rooftop to be a small park of sorts.
"Incredible," she gasped in amazement. Not even a moment later her blue eyes noticed the railing that kept citizens and city goers from falling to their death, but no sign of Sparks anywhere. "Sparks," Whimsy called out as she made her way over to the main walkway, "Sparks!?"

Scampering up a tree a good couple of yards away Sparks' ears twitched as she heard her name being called out by her trainer. Finally she had come up to get her! But the Emolga's little game was not over yet. Climbing higher into the tree, past Hoots, Sparks found a sturdy branch to lay on. With her back against the trunk the electric flying squirrel chuckled mischievously to herself. Only when Whimsy found her and got her out of the tree would the game be over. So looking down at Hoots the Emolga playfully stuck her tongue out at the Noctowl before going back to just quietly hiding on the tree branch.

Carefully observing the Noctowl's movements as it seemed to try and fail to convince the Emolga to climb down to its trainer, Sam almost didn't notice he had garnered attention from his focus on the Pokemon. He sheepishly smiled back, as any other native under that circumstance would have done. Sure enough, their interest in him was very quickly lost as the Emolga continued to climb the railings towards the second floor. They continued to chat while they climbed the stairs after their Pokemon, leaving Sam with the options to either follow them and see if they ever caught that Emolga (kinda creepy) or return to his previous task of taking notes on the Wingull in Route 118. Then again, it wasn't too often he got to see a Noctowl from close up. They were definitely some kind of tourists or travelers, he could offer advice if they needed information. Gang activity had been on the rise recently. Granted, there wasn't much activity to replace from the start, but it would still be something they should be aware of, at least.

He took a step to follow, but stopped immediately as that all too familiar feeling started to well up in him. It felt like the air itself was holding him in place, and time seemed to slow down to a crawl. Goosebumps started to form on his skin and a cold sensation formed in the pit of his stomach. His anxiety. He stopped. Vivian could feel the change from the top of his head, crawling down to his bangs and waving her arms in his face, maybe to comfort him? It was hard to tell with Vivian, being almost as shy as he himself was. Most of the time, she preferred to rest unbothered, unchallenged, and mostly unnoticeable in his mop of blond hair. It was rare of Vivian to attempt to attract attention to herself, which is exactly why Sam just remembered he forgot to breathe. Ashamed, he took a moment to collect himself. He pushed passed the resistance he felt around him and, with difficulty, made his way to the stairs. By now he couldn't see the group anymore, and contemplated if he should take his chances looking like a fool or creep. Those oh-so-familiar inner voices started their attack, planting scenarios Sam forcibly waved off as ridiculous or unreasonable despite the doubt lurking in the back of his mind. It was often like this when he tried to talk to new people, though he had for a long time been making an effort to fight back.

To anyone watching him, his hesitation would have been almost unnoticeable, but it felt like an hour had passed to Sam. Mentally drained, he stopped for a second at the foot of the stairs. He felt the familiar prickling of sweat beginning to form on his brow. Any frustration he felt he used as fuel to strengthen his determination, taking deep breaths to calm himself. Vivian crawled down from his head and onto his shoulder, the ticklish feeling of her feet grounding him to the moment. He felt his body tense up, then shiver involuntarily as his anxiety disappeared as suddenly as it came. It left him weak-knee'd and tired, but the mental bonds loosened their grip and he kept walking. At least if he saw this through, he could count it as a win in his book. Sam smiled when he reached the top of the stairs, sheepishly waving as he reached them and said, "hi! Name's Sam. You guys certainly don't look like natives, are you traveling through?"

As Mare sorted through the racks she something caught her eye. She wasn't sure what until she got a closer look. It was yet another contest outfit. But it definitely wasn't supposed to be here. It looked like it was supposed to be in the men's section. Someone must have put it back in the wrong spot. Weird. But also good. Because the costume looked cool and also about her size.

"Oh hello." Mare said, grabbng the costume off the rack to take a better look. "Yes I think you'll do fine."

Mare quickly dashed into the changing room to try on the costume. After about a minute she came out wearing the costume.

Ezra's attention was clearly fixated on the girl as she explained more about Kalos, nodding along and even humming with interest as she explained how the variety of environments and its weather conditions allowed for several Pokémon to make their home there. The wonders of the world never ceased to amaze him. He really had to put Kalos on his bucket list someday - maybe after he passed his exams and got all the credentials he needed to actually become a Professor. Then, he'd travel all over, just like Birch. Ezra chuckled at Whimsy's comment. Though, when she made her next comment about how much knowledge he had, he couldn't but rub the back of his neck again, rather abashed. "Well, uh...you could say I know some other stuff. Not that anyone wants to hear about it," He chuckled again, albeit in a nervous manner.

Ezra had noticed the difficulty Whimsy was having balancing all her stuff - if she was travelling from Kalos, that was probably most things she had to bring along on her travels - and before he even thought of offering his help, Jay had gotten there first. He was intrigued by the two's relationship. He assumed he must have been Whimsy's first Pokémon, seeing the close bond they had. Not that she wouldn't have been close to any of her other Pokémon, but often the relationship with your first Pokémon differed from that of your other Pokémon. He could say the same of his own relationship with Hoots. She had been with him from Johto, after all. He couldn't help but ponder on that more as they climbed the stairs, finally reaching the rooftop.

Glancing around the rooftop, he tried to locate Hoots and Sparks's whereabouts. He had been to the public roof of Mauville once or twice, so the effect that had taken over Whimsy had seemingly wavered in Ezra. Though, he smiled at her and commented, "It's cool, isn't it? Just when you think a city modelled after a mall couldn't get any better." He grinned, before he returned to his search across the rooftop. However, being so engrossed in his search, he flinched at hearing a voice from behind them. Ezra glanced over his shoulder, noticing a blond haired boy waving at them. After a moment of staring, he recognised him. He was the one who had taken both interest in him and Whimsy earlier, though, still hadn't figured out the reason why. He didn't seem to find his appearance around them strange or creepy; any social interaction for Ezra was a positive thing, considering him and his Noctowl spent too much time around other Pokémon and research papers.

Though, the boy's question caused him to ponder. Did he really look like a traveller? Ezra did have brightly coloured hair, a Johto trait he had shared with his father, and he was hardly a modern looking young man, what with his vest-shirt combo. Maybe he needed to take notes from Kalos's fashion after all. Ezra pushed the wondering to the back of his head, instead, opting to actually respond to the boy instead of staring at him like some Slowpoke. "O-oh, you're right, I'm not native to here. But I've lived in Hoenn for a few years now," he explained with a smile. "Sam, right? It's a pleasure. I'm Ezra, and this is Whimsy." He introduced both himself and the girl beside him. Though, he had realised he probably took the words out of her mouth. Really, introductions like these were a force of habit. Though, 'Hoots' was replaced 'Whimsy'. Speaking of, Ezra had turned again, though, not fully away from Sam so not to be rude, and he called out, "Hoots! Where are you?"

Not long after hearing Whimsy's call for Sparks, and witnessing Sparks's tongue stuck out at her, Hoots could hear her own trainer calling for her. She was torn. She could easily end this little game now by lifting the Emolga and dropping her into Whimsy's lap. Though, she knew better than to just grab another Pokémon without permission. She could imagine Ezra would have stern words to part with on that. Then again, leaving the Emolga's side could mean she could disappear into another part of the rooftop. Instead, Hoots got herself comfortable, and began cooing from the tree the two found themselves comfortable in, and started to cooing, hoping that at least one of the group would hear her calls.

Before she was able to call out to her Pokémon again Whimsy heard a new voice coming from behind her and Ezra made her jump a bit. Turning on her heels both her and Ghost were wide eyed with surprise as they saw a boy wave at them. Tilting her head to the side as the wheels in her head started turning, he looked familiar. It took Whimsy a moment before she was able to recognize the boy. "You're the boy from down stairs!" A grin quickly spread across her face in satisfaction of remembering where exactly she'd seen him. But when Sam mentioned how they didn't look like natives Whimsy quickly started examining herself, "Is my Kalosian showing," she questioned while checking her clothes over. Perhaps the outfit she wore spoke minor volumes regarding her region of origin: royal blue ankle boots with a single small black bow on the outside of each boot, black over the knee socks, torn white shorts that let a small bit of leg skin to be seen, and a white/blue stripped tank top. "I guess this is a little more fashionable for a casual look," she mumbled softly. To her she almost sounded like her mother, which was not a great complement.

When the boy introduced himself as Sam it seemed to draw Whimsy's attention back to what was going on around her in that moment. As Whimsy opened her mouth to introduce herself and her companions she was stopped by Ezra doing the introducing himself. Turning her blue gaze up towards the red head she chuckled softly. "And I'm Jay," the other red haired "boy" stated before pointing towards the Espurr still in their trainer's arms, "That guy there is Ghost." "Espurr!" Whimsy's chuckling grew a bit louder as Jay crossed his arms in front of his chest while he pouted slightly. Though at the sound of Ezra calling out for Hoots she quickly grew quiet. Scanning the area around them the blonde girl started to frown, but suddenly she heard something. Cooing? It sounded like Hoots almost. Whimsy closed her eyes so that she might be able to hear a bit better and at least get a general direction on where the Noctowl might be. Eyes still closed the girl slowly started turning her body towards the sound of Hoot's cooing. Opening her eyes she noticed that a couple yards in front of her was a tree, "I think they're in that tree Ezra," she stated and pointed at the tree in question. Looking over at both Ezra and Sam she smiled happily, "Come on guys!"

Coming up to the base of the tree, all the while the cooing sounding closer and closer, Whimsy stopped and looked up. "I win," she snickered while staring up at her Emolga from the ground, shifting her gaze over to Hoots she added, "Well Hoots actually won. Thank you for keeping up with her, I really appreciate it." But despite Whimsy having found her, Sparks refused to budge. Crossing her little arms the Pokémon looked away from her, causing her trainer to pout playfully. "Aw come on Sparks we found you fair and square. You have to come down so everyone can enjoy their time in the city." But Sparks huffed again, "Emo emo!" Whimsy's blue eyes grew wide at her Emolga's sharp tone, but she had a feeling that it was all an act. And without even Jay translating the girl knew what Sparks wanted.

"Jay could set my bag down and hold Ghost for a little while?" Nodding his head Jay sat the duffle bag down on the ground in exchange for holding his little companion. Kneeling down Whimsy opened her bag and dug through it a bit before pulling out a small amplifier no bigger than ten inches tall. Once she pulled it out, and closed her bag, the girl then set down her guitar case then zipped it open to reveal a dusty pink and white electric guitar. Whimsy snagged the maroon colored instrument cable sitting on top of the guitar, plugging one end into the guitar's output jack, and the other end into her portable amp. Slipping the guitar strap on over her head, and hooked the amp to her pocket, Whimsy rose to her feet. Turning on the amp produced a small noise and lit up the small orange light to indicate that it was indeed turned on. After a few minutes of adjusting the tone/volume knobs on both her guitar and amp, along with a few strums to hear what might need to be further adjusted, Whimsy looked at both Ezra and Sam with an excited grin. "Who wants to hear a song?"

Gracia looked upon that outfit as Mare was now adorning it. She could get this punk like vibe from it or similar, thinking on it. "Hey, not bad! Totally with you on the fanservice thing by the way - who the heck would wear stuff like 'this'?" Gracia commented, pulling out a random outfit and pointing at it. Only when she looked at it she was like 'ah heck, this one's actually decent', and it's true. "...I, uh. Retract my previous statement..."

Ezra had called again, before he fell silent, and sighed. Where could she be? She hoped she hadn't decided to fly off and do her own thing. It was a pattern when she had first evolved; with her newfound wings, she found herself jet-setting with Wingulls frequently, and Ezra constantly searching for her. Thankfully, now matured, she stuck obediently by Ezra's side; though, that wasn't to say she could easily fly off on him again. The young man shook his head. This was no time to be thinking of such possibilities. Hoots would never abandon him, plus, she would never abandon their search for Sparks.

It was when those thoughts were ceasing that he perked up at a cooing nearby. He glanced over to both Whimsy and Sam, wondering if they had heard the same thing. Ezra cocked his head at Whimsy's closed eyes, wondering why she had even closed her eyes in the first place. Then, she began shifting her body, and he watched with wonder at her methods. What was she...? But then, Ezra came to realise that she was gravitating towards the cooing. He followed her turns, before she settled on a tree a couple of yards in front of her, and passed on her guess that their Pokémon were probably hiding in that tree. Ezra grinned. "Incredible!" He couldn't help but compliment her, and followed her along to the tree. It was as they approached that he noticed Hoots cooing, soon ceasing as she noticed the familiar redhead making his way towards the tree.

Hoots glanced at Whimsy, tilting her head as she listened to her speak. When she thanked the avian Pokémon for her help, she chirped in reply, seeming like she was more than happy to help out.

"Yeah, great job, Hoots," Ezra praised her, putting his hands on his waist and nodding at her. "Guess your tracking skills are still coming in handy." He chuckled as Hoots responded enthusiastically, flapping her wings. Though, she moved her glance towards the protesting Emolga, who refused to shift from the tree in the process. Ezra frowned in thought. Maybe Hoots could forcibly lift her out? Maybe they could shake the tree? Coax it out with poffins! The latter seemed to work for most Pokémon.

Though, Ezra noticed Whimsy giving Ghost over to Jay, and the girl going through some of her belongings. He watched as she rustled through her belongings, eventually grabbing such equipment such as a portable amp, an electric guitar, and all the bits and do-das needed for it. "Uh, Whimsy, what are you...?" Well, it was obvious what she was doing. But needless to say, he was intrigued by the situation, and he stood by and watched. When she had asked if anyone wanted to hear a song, Ezra was still horrendously confused, but all he could do was smile and nod. "Well, I, uh...guess a song would go down well." He chuckled a little. Hoots flapped her wings and chirped once again, seeming totally open to the idea.

Turning her blue eyed gaze up towards Ezra only to be met with his expression of utter confusion, causing her to chuckle, "Trust me Ezra," the girl managed to get out, "My method may seem a little out there, but they work!" Once Whimsy managed to cease her giggle fit and take a deep breath she shot both boys a smile before looking down at the neck of her guitar. With her fingers placed on the correct strings the teen started to strum away. After a few seconds Whimsy looked back up, and started to sing:
Mama told me, when I was young
"Said sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely, to what I say
And if you do this, it will help you some sunny day"
Oh yeah

There was rustling in the tree above them as Sparks started paying attention to what was happening below. Though Sparks didn't really climb down, she did move so that she was watching the humans and Pokémon. A smile on the Emolga's face as she listened to her trainer's lovely music and voice. Jay and Ghost were smiling as they listened to Whimsy's song:
"Oh take your time, don't live too fast
Troubles will come, and they will pass
You'll find a woman, and you'll find love
And don't for forget that, there's a someone up above"

"And be a simple kind of man
Be a something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kinds of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can, if you can"

As there was a short instrumental break Whimsy looked up towards the top of the tree as she watched Sparks slowly climb down to sit on her trainer's shoulder. Allowing Whimsy to turn her gaze back towards the boys:
"Forget your lust, for the rich man's gold
All that you need now, is in your soul
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied"

"And be a simple kind of man
Be a something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Won't you do this for me son, if you can, if you can"

"Oh don't you worry, you'll find yourself
Follow your heart, and nothing else
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want from you my son, is to be satisfied"

"And be a simple kind of man
Be a something you love and understand
Baby be a simple, kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me son, if you can"

So baby, be a simple, be a simple man
Oh won't you do this for me son if you can

With the song finished Whimsy placed her hand over the strings to get them to stop vibrating and producing noise. Blue eyes now fixated on Ezra and Sam, a huge grin spread across her face. "Well? What did you guys think?" Sparks was now sitting on her trainer's shoulder, smiling happily and appearing to be in an uplifted mood. The Emolga even nuzzled Whimsy's cheek joyfully, making her giggle. As the blonde girl looked at the boys she realized that they might be confused as to why she did what she did. "Perhaps I should explain my actions. The best way I can get Sparks, Ghost, and Jay in a better mood is through my music. It also seems to work with other people and Pokemon depending on the situation. But I find music to be the best kind of medicine for mood adjustments," then with the same grin from a minute ago she added, "Plus I just like sharing my gift with others. The smiles it brings them makes me happy." Before anything else could happen Whimsy snagged two Poke Balls from her belt, as her guitar hung from her by its strap, and called her Emolga and Espurr back into them. Believing that after they had stretched their legs enough and were in a calm enough mood to take a nap inside their Poke Balls. Once they were inside Whimsy hung them off her belt once again.

Riding off the high his andrenaline gave him, he was able to respond to Ezra, simply stating, "yeah, nice to meet you, too!" Shortly after, he heard the girl say "You're the boy from down stairs!" Sam inwardly cursed himself for staring. They had obviously noticed. Then he heard the girl say "Is my Kalosian showing?" as she checked over her outfit. It was indeed, just a tad bit out of place even in a large town like Mauville. None of the local brand's signature designs were present in her clothing - not that Sam was an expert on fashion or anything (he was wearing matching patterned plaid shorts and a shirt). Locals tended to dress in a more tropical outfit, combining that with their current situation with their Emolga and Sam was honestly surprised he was one of the only ones who stuck around to watch the fiasco. Jay introduced himself next, who also introduced Ghost, their Espurr.

Sam was about to inform them about what had caught his attention, before a strange sound came from one of the trees. Hearing the soft, low cooing for the first time sent shivers down his spine. It was almost melodic. Whimsey was the first to react, quickly tracing the sound down to a specific tree. Sam was close behind, trying not to get in the way, while they searched for what was most definitely the Noctowl who had most likely caught the Emolga. Ezra followed close behind him. Once they met up with Whimsey at the tree, it was quickly becoming clear that the Emolga was not done with its games quite yet. It made motions toward Whimsey, who Sam had just realized was its trainer. Sam curiously watched her dig in her bag, watching her set up an amp and guitar. She played a simple riff, but her voice was amazingly strong! He was blown away by the girl in front of him! Sam was fixated on her fingers plucking the strings, but now that he looked up, just noticed the Emolga sitting happily on Whimsey's shoulder. He was at a loss for words. The last thing he expected when he came back to Mauville was a private concert! "You're amazing!" He said, "you must be famous in Kalos!" Sam was so taken aback, that he was caught off guard by the sounds of the pokeballs, almost jumping out of his skin. "Sorry", he replied.

Ezra couldn't do anything more other than nod and, well, trust Whimsy on the matter. He was glad he did, for there came a gentle strumming, and a melody of light tones seemed to dance in the air around them. His eyes moved towards the branches, watching as Sparks emerged from the leaves and sat on one, listening to the singing and the strumming of Whimsy's guitar. He even noticed Hoots gently swaying along to the music too. He stood there, his lips parted as he studied the two and how they seemed to be so affected by Whimsy's singing and guitar playing.

Though, he hadn't expected Whimsy to turn around and perform to them next. Ezra had shuffled from one foot to the other for a few moments, awkward at both him and Sam having their own performer. Though, that awkwardness soon faded from him, and he smiled as he nodded along to the music. It seemed to have an effect on all of them - Jay and Ghost smiled at their trainer performing, Sam, too, was transfixed by the music. It had a rather positive effect, and the rather hectic events of the day seemed to disappear in a flash.

Once Whimsy finished, Ezra couldn't help but applaud her, that beam still radiating on his lips the whole while. He couldn't help but chuckle at Sam's exclamation, nodding in agreement. "I don't think I could put it any better myself," he agreed, before he ceased his applause and he looked back to Whimsy. He listened intently to the girl's explanation, before his smile got wider and he nodded. "Well, you certainly put a smile on our faces," Ezra pointed out the obvious, and he glanced to Hoots, who landed on the ground by her trainer's side. "And Hoots even seemed to enjoy it." He was thoughtful for a few moments, scratching his cheek as he hummed to himself. "You know, I think there's a lot of correlation in relation to Pokémon and music. I think a few examples could be found in the likes of Primarina, which-"

He was cut off by a large wing in his side, causing him to stumble a little. Realising he nearly went off on another tangent, he cleared his throat, trying to ignore the obvious interruption. "A-anyway, it's not important. What's important is that we got Sparks back." Ezra smiled to both Sam and Whimsy, and even passed on those same smiles to Sparks, Jay, and Ghost. He scratched the top of Hoots's head, to which she cooed at and leaned into his touch, before he looked to Sam and Whimsy once again. "Now that that's over, I think we deserve a reward for that search. You know, a milkshake or something would go down so well right now..." He grinned, his mouth salivating at the thought of it. How long had it been since he picked one up?

"I don't know." Mare said. "But I'm gonna go pay for this."

Mare dashed back into the changing room. A few minutes later she came back out in her normal clothes with her new contest costume draped over her arm. Swiftly she walked over to the checkout lane. The line was short so it didn't take long for her to reach the register. After a quick exchange of Pokedollars Mare now officially had in her posession a better contest costume than the one she had originally.

Feeling pretty good about herself, Mare was ready to go and see what Gracia was up to when the entire world seemed to shake with a booming sound. The people in the store whispered among themselves as to what the boom might have been. Then, another boom sounded and the alarms began to go off. Understandably, everybody panicked and began running towards the exits. The staff of the store tried to calm the panicking crowd down but to no avail.

Mare was just about ready to bolt too when another boom sounded, this one much closer. And then came a fourth boom. Just as the last of the store's crowd was escaping, the fourth boom sounded and with it came part of the store's roof. The roof over the main entrance collapsed, leaving some people, including Mare, still trapped inside the store and the rest trapped under the rubble.

Meanwhile...

In the sky above Mauville City flew three airships. Emblazoned with the Team Magma logo, all three ships were veritable fortresses. Each ship was armed with state of the art weaponry designed by the Team Magma Admin Tabitha. This weaponry was now being unleashed on Mauville City.

Standing on the prow of the biggest ship was two men. One, a well dressed man in red was the leader of Team Magma, Maxie. The other, a man in blue with a pirate aesthetic, was the leader of Team Aqua, Archie.

"AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! These ships are amazing!" Archie shouted. "What power!"

"Don't get comfortable." Maxie said, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Remember the deal."

"Yes, yes, I remember." Archie said. "You help me get what I want and I help you get what you want."

"Precisely." Maxie said. "Now, let's get this over with." Maxie tapped the right side of his glasses. "Grunts! Deploy!"

A hatch opened on the underside of each ship and three platoons of grunts, both Magma and Aqua, parachuted off of them.

With hearing the compliments coming from both of them it was hard for Whimsy not to blush as she put everything away, "Aw! Thank you both, but I'm not really famous back home. Oh! I can't tell you how much hearing this means to me," she giggled excited. Slipping her guitar back in her case, along with the cord, and the amp in her duffle bag so that everything "partner laughed, but with a sigh she just smiled, turning her attention back to Sam and Ezra, "So, sound we get going?"

But before anyone of them got the chance to make it to the door leading downstairs there was a boom. Followed by another, and two more after that. The ground (flooring?) underneath Whimsy's feet shook violently, knocking her to her knees and making her scream in fear. "WHIMSY!" Losing his disguise for the first time upon arriving to the city Jay stood as he was, nothing more than a Zoroark. Running over to his trainer before leaping on top of her, shielding her from any harm that were to come. When the shaking finally stopped the Zoroark helped his trainer sit up and held her protectively against him. Whimsy's eyes widened in horror at the sight of people on the ground and cracks in the foundation. Seeing the dust rise from the city's large opening she knew that all the people below them on the lower floors had been affected too, if not far worse than them. Moving her head Whimsy's eyes now stared at Ezra and Sam, still horrified, but also extremely worried as well. The last thing she'd want is for her new acquaintances to be gravely injured, or injured at all.

Opening her mouth Whimsy was about to call to them, asking if they're alright, but stopped when she heard a noise above them. Shadows even moved above them. Both the teen and her partner Pokémon turned their heads up to see what it was. To their shock the pair were met with three flying fortresses, armed to the brim with weapons. Squinting to get a better look all Whimsy could make out were two figures: one in red and the other in blue. Nervously she got to her feet, with the help of Jay, and looked back towards Ezra and Sam,
"We have to get out of here! But I have a feeling we won't be able to get to the main floor!" "Ark!"

Whimsy shot her head back at her Zoroark as he growled up towards the sky threateningly, causing her to look up as well. A gasp escaped her as the watched a mass of people in red and blue costumes jump from the airships with parachutes. If Whimsy learned anything in all her years in school, her mom's constant drowning on about fashion, and the news years ago about Team Rocket, it was that a group of people in weird costumes were never up to any good! "I know you want to protect me Jay," she grunted while rising to her feet with the Zoroark, "And I don't really want to stick around. But I also can't leave my new friends to deal with this." Jay looked at his trainer a bit surprised by her desire to help the strangers she got to know, and those around her that she didn't. Though he knew that just leaving wouldn't weigh so well on either of them.

Narrowing her eyes Whimsy pointed straight at the grunts still trying to land,
"Ok Jay, let's buy everyone some time! Flamethrower!" The Zoroark quickly moved in front of his trainer, glaring at the dropping figure before opening his mouth. A large stream of fire shot out of Jay's mouth, aimed at the grunts and their parachutes. "Ezra! Sam," Whimsy shouted back to them worriedly, "Are you both ok!? Can you get yourselves out of here!?"

Feeling pretty good about herself, Mare was ready to go and see what Gracia was up to when the entire world seemed to shake with a booming sound. Understandably, everybody panicked and began running towards the exits. The staff of the store tried to calm the panicking crowd down but to no avail.

Just as the last of the store's crowd was escaping, the fourth boom sounded and with it came part of the store's roof. The roof over the main entrance collapsed, leaving some people, including Mare, still trapped inside the store and the rest trapped under the rubble.
Gracia gasped upon this happening. "Ah, heck... Welp! Evergreen, Hades! Help us clear this mess!" Gracia opened two Pokeballs on her belt, letting free a Kirlia and a Dusclops - the Kirlia would begin using Psychic to lift up the rubble and put it aside, the Dusclops would try to help by slowly yet powerfully pushing bigger chunks out of the way, most importantly keeping the exit vacant. Eventually, given time, most of the rubble had been cleared, and Gracia checked if anyone was still alive or even conscious under the rubble. "Anyone down there?!" She called under the rubble. She had no idea the ships were lurking (and yet dropping off grunts) while her two Pokemon kept helping with the rubble clearing. She's mildly vulnerable.

As booms continued to sound around them Mare rushed to help Gracia. She wasn't about to be trapped in here and it didn't seem like the police were going to be of any use. She released three of the four Pokeballs on her belt and out popped Fiji, Queen, and P. Mare pointed at the rubble.

"There are people trapped under there! We've gotta help!" She shouted. "P, use metal claw to lift the rubble! Queen, use Ice Fang to make the rubble smaller and put out the fires! Fiji, do anything you can to break the rubble apart! Just don't do anything that would harm anyone by accident! Got it!"

"This rubble will know my power!" Queen said in the most serious of all manners before running fourth and biting into the rubble with her ice fang.

Fiji made a couple of anime poses. "Alright! Energy ball! Kamehamehamehame HADOKEN!!!"

P didn't say anything. He just got to work doing what he was told. He was like that. All quiet and stoic and all. Mare had tried to ask him why once and he just said he didn't want to talk about it. Mare had things she didn't want to talk about as well so she dropped it.

When Gracia called to ask if anyone was down there, she heard some people call out. Then she saw them. A family trapped under the rubble. Mare ran forward to help. She grabbed the hand of the father.

She pulled as hard as she could. "I've gotcha!" He barely moved an inch. "Or maybe I don't gotcha! Can I get a little help over here!"

Above the roof, the grunts on parachutes managed to dodge out of the way of the flamethrower. All except for three who were caught off guard and knocked out of the sky and onto the roof. They didn't fall far so they were okay. Which was bad news for the people on the roof, namely Whimsy, Ezra, and Sam along with all of their Pokemon.

"That was a bad decision you just made girly." Said a male Aqua Grunt with a crack of his knuckles and a psychotic smirk. It appeared that he might also be a bit drunk.

"Yeah, now you've made us mad." Said a female Aqua Grunt, also looking a bit drunk. "And you won't like us when we're mad."

A male Magma Grunt interrupted. "Anybody who gets in the way of Team Magma,"

"Or Team Aqua,"

"Will meet a grisly end."

The three grunts released their Pokemon, two mightyenas, one for each Aqua Grunt, and a Golbat for the Magma Grunt.

Ezra and Hoots were about to follow behind, only, there was a booming sound that echoed throughout Mauville. The first caused mild concern, with several of the shoppers and passerbys on the roof turning towards the sound, all mumbling amongst themselves. The second caused a further concern, with concerned gazes appearing in their eyes. The last two truly caused a roof-wide panic. People were scrambling for cover, grabbing their Pokémon and diving towards the ground. The event had gone by so fast that Ezra hadn't noticed that he, too, had been sent to the floor, probably after a loss of balance. He could still feel the tremors vibrating on the surface and underneath them, petrified the mall's structures were going to completely crumble - and take them with it. Thankfully though, once the explosions and the shaking subsided, Mauville was still standing.

Ezra had cast glances to both Sam and Whimsy - finding the latter being shielded by a no longer disguised Zoroark. Apparently Hoots had a similar idea, her wings spread over the top of Ezra should anything come their way. Ezra managed to lift himself off the ground, assessing the damage alongside Hoots. He frowned, assuming the floors below them would have fared much less better than the roof.

Ezra was brought out of his concerned assessing to a cooing Hoots beside him, airborne once more as it looked over Ezra. The trainer just stumbled to his feet, brushing himself off. "I'm okay, Hoots..." He murmured. Listening to Whimsy's insistence, he nodded back, though, getting to the main floor would indeed be a problem. "Damnit...we need to find another way off this roof!" Ezra ran a hand through his hair; only, Zoroark's growling at the sky caused him to turn his attention away from them. Noticing a fleet of airships looming over the roof of Mauville, his eyes widened, and he couldn't help but shout, "W-what in the name of Arceus is going on?!" No doubt those ships were the cause of the explosions. He squinted at them, trying to figure out whose ships they were, until he noticed colours of crimson, turquoise, practically falling from the ships. Ezra expected this to be their time to run and rush out of there, but Whimsy by no means seemed eager to run, especially not with Ezra and Sam being left behind. He blinked at her. New...friends? He certainly didn't dislike the title, but he hadn't expected it to come so soon. He would gush over the fact, if there weren't costumed freaks practically parachuting towards the roof.

...until Jay's Flamethrower promptly set them diving to the ground. Ezra squeaked at their landing, though, found they were simply dazed from the fall, and were on their feet in a flash. Now it seemed as if they were intent on facing off against Sam, Ezra, and Whimsy. After the three had said their piece, and released each of their Pokémon, Ezra finally responded to Whimsy. "I don't think escaping is an option anymore!" He pointed the painfully obvious, and he glanced between Whimsy and Sam. "We'll need to fight our way out of this if we have any chance of escaping!"

"Hooo!"
Hoots agreed, and found herself stationed in between Ezra, and the Grunts' Pokémon. She didn't even need to be asked to defend against these Grunts and their Pokémon.

Ezra assessed which of the three he would have Hoots attack first. If each of them were to take one each, surely that would better their odds of escaping and getting out of here in one piece, and more importantly, with their Pokémon in tow. Noticing the Golbat fluttering by the Grunt in red, he turned Hoots's and his own attention towards it. "Alright, Hoots! Use your Hypnosis!"

Hoots's eyes suddenly dimmed, chirping at the Golbat as several purple-hued rings gravitated towards it. They hit the Golbat, and with each hit, the Pokémon's eyes drooped, incoherent sounds escaping its wide mouth, before it fell to the ground, snoring.

The Magma grunt was less than pleased by this turn of events, and growled, "Drac, wake up! Come on, you...!"

"Hoots, go for Dream Eater!"

Hoots promptly obeyed the command, its eyes dimmed once again as Golbat suddenly jerked, letting out a screech before it flapped up and into the air once more, dazed, but still very much raring to fight.

"Drac, take your revenge and show him your Bite!"

The Golbat bore its fangs, before it swooped towards Hoots, its teeth managed to sink its way into her wings. She screeched, flapping her wing in an attempt to throw the Golbat off. The Magma Grunt laughed and revelled in the success for this move - Ezra, naturally, did not. He grit his teeth, watching helplessly as Hoots flapped and flapped, before the Golbat eventually let go and returned to its original position. There was a good deal of damage either side to their Pokémon - one wrong move and it could spell disaster.

Make like a Tree and get Out of Here

"You don't have to tell me twice!" Mare yelled. She recalled Fiji and P but kept Queen out. Queen had the widest range of elemental attacks of the three so Mare figured she'd be most useful.

Both Trainer and Pokemon ran out of the store. The scene around them was complete chaos. Men and woman in strange costumes had regular people cornered and the police were barely holding them back. Worse yet, rubble was blocking off all possible manners of escape. They were trapped. Except...

A narrow stairwell was still unblocked but that could change at any time. Hopefully it lead to the roof and not another floor. Mare pointed at it.

"The stairwell! We've gotta get over there!"

Mare ran like hell. She had no desire to stay here longer than she had too. She didn't even notice when she pushed her way in between two Magma Grunts. She didn't notice the grunts turn around to look at her.

"Hey!" One Grunt shouted. "That little brat pushed us!"

"We should teach her a lesson about manners!"
The other shouted, not realizing the irony of a member of a terrorist group yelling about manners.

Regardless of the irony, the two grunts bolted after Mare. Mare breifly looked behind her and saw this and immediately sped up. She reached the stairs and quickly began to run up them, hoping that they would slow her pursuers down as well as get her to the roof. It did... but only a little.

Mare burst through the double doors and onto the roof, just barely getting a view of six people engaged in battle before being knocked down by one of the grunts.

"Time to teach you a lesson." The first grunt said. He released a Numel from a Pokeball and both he and the Pokemon stood over him menacingly.

As Mare couldn't move and was therefor trapped in her current position, she resorted to yelling obscenities in her native language of Kantonese

<Get off of me you son of a seaking!> She shouted.

The grunt picked her up by her shirt. "What are you gibbering about! Don't you speak Hoenian!"

<Your language is garbage!> Mare shouted. She didn't actually mean it but she was angry. <You're garbage too!> That one she did mean.

"Speak Hoenian!" The Grunt shouted. "Argh! Nevermind! I'l pulverize you!" Clearly the grunt wasn't grasping the irony of his rudeness.

The grunt opened his mouth, presumably about to command his Numel to do something when he suddenly yelped in pain and dropped Mare. Queen had bitten him on the foot.

"Why you little!" He shouted, trying to shake Queen off. "Numel-"

He didn't get to finish his sentence because Mare socked him in the jaw.

<Bastard.> She said, tubbing her wrist.

"Oh yeah!? Well you won't like it when we get mad!" Whimsy retorted rather angrily as Jay growled in agreement, the two glaring at the Team Aqua grunts in front of them. Feeling bold and confident in herself and her partner the girl pointed at both the male and female grunt with a grin on her face, "Besides! Why would anyone be scared of wanna be pirates in tacky costumes!? You look like you're trying to blend in with children on Halloween because you don't want to pay for your own candy!" Now she had really done herself in as both drunken grunts clenched their jaws shut in anger. "You're going to regret em words ya just uttered girly!" The Mightyena growled and started stalking the two of them, causing Whimsy to press her back up to Jay's as they were being circled. "Ark." "I know, some things are better left unsaid. But now they can't attack Sam and Ezra expectantly," she commented while keeping her eyes focused on the Mightyena.

The grunts smirked menacingly as they watched their Pokémon stalk Whimsy as if she were prey.
"Mightyena use Howl!" "You use Howl as well!" The grunts commanded as they two hyena Pokémon howled in sync with one another. Raising their attack power higher. Jay took a nimble stance to prepare himself for any physical attack to come at him or his trainer. Biting her lip Whimsy looked over towards Ezra to watch as Hoots was attacked by a Golbat, the dark type move was sure to have been super effective. How are we going to get out of here!? Whimsy panicked as she took small glances here and there at her surroundings. She noticed a girl burst from the stairwell and punch a grunt square in the jaw, causing the teen to flinch a bit. But it reminded her that going downstairs wouldn't be a great idea.

Then a question popped into her head, and then another.
"Ezra!" Blue eyes looking towards the red haired boy, "What can you tell me about the extent of an Espurr's psychic abilities and a Zoroark's illusion ability!? I know they're strong! But just how strong!? I might have an idea on getting us out of here!" "Shut your mouth girly! You're suppose to be paying attention us! Mightyena, teach this brat a lesson with Tackle!" With a bark of acknowledgment the Mightyena behind her, in front of Jay, charged at them. There wasn't enough time for the both of them to react as Jay was hit in the chest causing not only himself to fly back on the ground, but knocking Whimsy over in the process.

Hitting the ground with a dust cloud rising from around him, Jay groaned. The Mightyena had a paw on his chest as a way to keep him from moving too much, but he was able to move his head. Feeling the need to check on his trainer. When he did his eyes widened at the sight of Whimsy slowly trying to pick herself up off the ground with her face covered in dirt and a bloody nose from the impact of hitting the ground. Vengeful growls rose from Jay's throat as he looked back towards the Mightyena on top of him, its trainer laughing. Soon the two Pokémon were wrestling one another to gain the upper hand over the other. After a moment Jay had finally gained the higher ground as he loomed over the dark-type, paws gripping its throat.

Whimsy was dazed from having hit the ground suddenly. Staring down at her hands and the ground as she tried to collect her thoughts on what was going on around her. It was only when she heard the female Team Aqua grunt drunkenly scream at her Mightyena who was struggling to fight. Rubbing her nose with her hand, only for it to earn a streak of blood, Whimsy sat up on her knees and gazed at Jay. "Jay!" This caused the Zoroark to look back at his trainer who was now able to sit up. Though he was relieved, he was still very much angry at the harm that had befallen her. Whimsy knew that he wasn't going to let go of what happened today for a long time. But she had to remember that this was a battle right now. "That's right! Battling! This is a battle! Alright then, Jay, use Punishment followed by Flamethrower!"

Jay's right arm started glowing purple as he let it off of the Mightyena's throat before hitting it in the face with Punishment. Then without skipping a beat he grabbed it by its front leg, stood up, and threw Mightyena past its trainer while hitting it with Flamethrower.

"You're going to pay for your interference!" The male grunt angrily shouted as Jay ran with a slight limp back to his trainer. Making sure to close the distance between them both in the case of another attack. But they knew that fighting this many enemies at once would be a losing fight. Whimsy glanced over at Ezra and Sam to check on them while Jay watched the second Mightyena.
