intro.
"They call them 'The Sons and Daughters of Jillian Roy' And they are, truly, the Damned."
She was a woman with no family but the one she made out of love. It was said that her eyes extraordinarily amplified the beauty of her olive skin and dark hair, one grey and one gold. They knew she could heal ailments mysteriously, among other strange talents of the old ways. Whispered rumors said this was taught to her in youth from the only thing left of her family: The Paginae Veritatis. People gossiped that her grandmother was a worker of wonders as well...that it was in her very blood to meet the Devil...
~
Over three hundred years later, the blood of her children runs strong...as does the curse among their kind. Blessed with the gift of the Craft, they are now as diverse as the magic in their veins. But, with their abilities and longer lifespan comes a terrible fate, horrid and foul.
"Their first death will not be their last, and their true death will be everlasting agony. The Rot will echo through their bloodline until it, one day, claims everything."
The initial death, never natural, causes them to lose their magic and transforms the descendant into an Incubian- a creature with inhuman abilities that has to consume the hearts of living things to continue to exist. And, once they die the final time, their consciousness never leaves their body. They are left to feel their decay and that of the world. Their only relief is that they are connected: they are telepathically linked with all living things. But this has a caveat. They are constantly in pain, the closer they are to death's call.
For centuries, the descendants have suffered. However, now there is a chance to break the curse.
"Only by the Two of Two Worlds will the book be found. And, on the day the Moon burns like the Sun, the Right One will take the mark and free them all."
In the School of Blood, a place of tutelage for their kind, a hodgepodge group will discover what it means to suffer and rise above their struggle. And who knows? Maybe the curse won't end the world after all.

Time Period:
The rp will start in mid January of 2024
Mood:
A melodramatic nature with sprinklings of momentary happiness and triumphs. There will also be a downpour of grotesque violence and mind-breaking decisions. This will obviously clash with the jovial mannerisms of New Orleans, Louisiana.

the descendants.
Magic users descending from the bloodline of Jillian Roy. Their powers are distinct from one another, two gifts never being the same. Once they reach maturity, their aging also starts to slow, giving them a youthful edge at whatever age they are. One of the drawbacks to their looming curse is that they live fiery, beautiful lives before their first stumble on the mortal coil. *See Guidelines about characteristics

the hybrids.
Peculiar specimens of the bloodline, these two were born under certain conditions that allow them to be magic-using Incubians. They share the same physically stunning traits of their actively cursed counterparts, although a bit dimmer due to their still beating hearts. They can tune out the degree to which they can "hear" everything and have enhanced physiology. Their magic abilities are of miraculous natures, although they are harder to control. They also have to consume one heart every season, though it doesn't have to be fresh, or else they start to experience health issues. NOTE: When using their abilities, their eyes glow- one set silver and the other gold.

the overseers.
As long as there have been sons and daughters of Jillian Roy, there have been those watching over them. While the descendants have a more innate inherentance of magic, that does not mean they are the only ones who can wield it. The Overseers have trained hard to hone their Craft, some from their youth. Able to do more traditional magic, these mortals can be fearsome in the right conditions. They stand ready to protect their charges, using the resources that have been amassed by the founding coven to help the ones left with such a burden. These people are relatively close to the descendants, always standing in the wings. *See Guidelines for characteristics

the damned.
A reminder that all things must end, the Incubian descendants linger upon the world longer than they can bear. Yet, they endure out of knowing what comes next. Their features are striking and haunting in the same breath. These features hide their murderous nature, no matter how much penance is made afterward. They can move faster than one who doesn't have the eye for it can see, and their strength is immeasurable. Although they can function in the daylight, they prefer to be reclusive...for their presence is near intoxicating to mortal beings. They are in tune with all living things and can communicate telepathically. But that is only a handful of benefits stemming from an unfathomable fate.

Hey, Pookie here. Welcome to my latest creation, The Trials. I feel this idea is my most thought-out and would love to invite you to join me in writing a masterpiece.
About the Characteristics: It's 2025. Just because the titular woman, whose infant children were cursed, is of European descent, DOES NOT mean that all the characters have to be of one ethnicity. It's been 300+ years since the curse was laid on them. The characters are less related to each other than ever(for the most part, idk.) The descendant moniker is just that, an identifier. Just because you're related does not mean you automatically inherit the trait. There's a reason why there are only 5 attendees of the School of Blood. ALSO, let's try to be diverse with ages as well. This is not a story about hot 25-year-old teenagers.
Other than that, let's rock!
β 001.
Make sure you're aware of RpN's rules and guidelines. No one wants to be policed by the Big Guns (just trust me on that).
β 002.
Please respect the decisions handed down by the GMs. If it was committed or denied, it was within good reason. All decisions are final unless discussed otherwise.
β 003.
If you feel the need to drop out or put your character on hold, let me know via dm. We can work out an arrangement(seriously, I want to work with you). If all else fails, we can plan out a way for your character to bow out that is satisfactory to you, me, and your fellow players. But, your character submission is a contract of commitment. Honor that.
β 004.
My rule of thumb is 16+, since sexual situations are already not allowed(though romance is encouraged, if you're comfortable with it). All horror aspects should be tolerable at that age, though if you have a specific trigger warning, you should let me know so we can avoid it.
