TALOS STATION

Talos Station is a ramshackle, crumbling trading outpost in the Talos System. Built into a large satellite asteroid gravitationally bound to Talos Prime, it is a spectacular sight among the many rocky satellites loosely bounding the planet’s distinctive rings together. Talos Station primarily deals in illicit enterprises, and is one of the major, diverse hubs for criminal activity in this sector of the Outer Rim.

It is a popular venue for black market dealers to set up shop. Thugs, bounty hunters, smugglers, and pirates are thus frequent customers here, adding to the ever-present background tension among dangerous individuals. Any visitor is advised to be careful, for these crooks are ruthless and more than willing to take advantage of the first sign of weakness. There is no law here; the closest thing to a governing body is the Bloodraven Pirates, a well-armed and cutthroat gang influential in this region of the galaxy. Owing them a favor is equivalent to severing your own arm, some warn you as you enter.

In recent years a few Imperial ships have attempted to assert control over the Talos System, but as of yet, none have succeeded in repelling the Bloodraven’s forces. The Empire’s reach is just too distant. It’s every man out for himself here.

TALOS PRIME

A desolate, lifeless world beyond the borders of the civilized galaxy, Talos Prime is a perfect haven for outlaws and criminals. Surrounding it is a distinctive, thin ring of loosely gravitationally bound debris. Some of it is from asteroids or meteoroids ripped apart by tidal forces upon approach of the planet, but other bits of the fragments are distinctively durasteel. In fact, several derelict and heavily damaged ship hulls drift lifelessly in orbit around the planet, acting too like satellites to keep the ring of debris stabilized.

Meanwhile the surface is mutilated by scorch marks from battles centuries past. Ancient ruins of old pirate bases and fallen ships litter the surface like trash. Powerful lightning storms, known as Windflares, are frequent and lethal natural disasters on the surface, although they fortunately move slowly enough to be evaded with enough warning.

Scavengers are also known to roam across these rocky plains in droves, gathering what scraps they can to sell to the black market dealers on the few settlements of Talos Prime or even Talos Station, should any prospective merchants arrange transport. Most of the criminal underbelly view these scavengers as pests, but tolerate them. They do all the hard work of bringing in goods that may be resold for higher prices, and are a good source of revenue.

Currently the Bloodraven Pirates have the greatest influence over Talos Prime, and are in ownership of a large base on the planet. Most settlements are forced to pay tribute or be blasted off the map; a typical arrangement in this section of the galaxy.
