The Solberg Estate - Resting Place of Sol

6:23 A.M.

To say Julius missed them would be an understatement. Mother passed only a few days after Father did. Their funeral was last week. Members of all kinds of families, magical and not, had come to pay their respects. Some had approached Julius with the hopes of finding the approval of the latest Sir Solberg, but the man was too lost in his own mind to pay much attention to them. He couldn't say how his siblings took it, but Julius, as much as he desperately wanted to, couldn't find it in himself to cry. Throughout the funeral, and straight into the past week, the lad had not shed a single tear. Internally, it frustrated him to no end; why couldn't he just grieve like a normal person!? Instead, here he was yet again, up at the crack of dawn in front of his parents gravestone, dressed in his usual attire as the sun brought barely any light over their lands. The eldest Solberg stared down at the modest grave with unblinking eyes, his gaze one of apathy. Slowly, he set his hand upon it as his eyes traced the carved letters of the stone one more time.

-Here lies William and Lily Solberg-

-Beloved Parents and Friends-

-May they find peace in the gentle embrace of the sun-

Julius, who had once found wisdom in this saying, now filled with anger upon reading it. In the Solberg Family, the sun was regarded as a deity, a figure going back to the very first Solberg. Some parts of their family history even say that the First Solberg was born of the sun itself. Now, though.....Julius felt that the saying mocked him somehow, mocked his family. This deity or whatever.....it had taken back what it believed to be theirs, and in the process, had left behind those who wanted naught else but to keep them here. The bits of sunlight began to travel over the many trees and upon the cold stone of the grave, and Julius narrowed his eyes at it in spite, as if doing so would force that cursed being away from the only memento left of his dear parents. The hand upon the stone began to grip it tighter as he felt the gentle warmth of the suns rays fall upon it, and he began to grit his teeth tightly as his breathing got sporadic, and he closed his eyes. This damned, mocking warmth! It fell upon him as if it just hadn't taken away the only true warmth he had! Like he still had his life the way it was before they were taken! Like it hadn't torn a rift in his family so nonchalantly! Like....Like......

For the first time since they had passed, Julius began to cry, the tears falling heavily down his face, though he made no sound, save for the shaking of his breath as it came out. Damn it! He was supposed to be the eldest sibling! He was Sir Solberg now! He couldn't afford to cry now; his Father knew that too!

But, perhaps, in these few seconds alone, he could pretend he wasnt. He could pretend that he was still in his parents arms, consoling him after another screwup of his experiments. He could pretend his family was still whole, and that nothing had ever changed. He could pretend that he was holding his Father again, and tell the Titan in his life just how much he respected him.

For now, pretending was all he could do. And for this brief moment, that's exactly what Julius did.

Terry Armstrong
The wind passed quickly through his blond hair, so much so the susurrus of his wings batting was almost unnoticeable. Soaring all over the massive estate was a past-time of Terry's, one that served both as a hobby, and a way to keep sight on every section of the Solberg Estate in a short period of time. Today though, the morning fly was not one that brought Terrance any joy or ease, not one that gave him any peace. His master, Sir Solberg, and mistress had both passed away in only a difference of days. Someone who was almost like a second father to him was gone. Likely due to the death of Sir Solberg, his father had been missing since the passing, leaving Terry to mourn the deaths and departure of the Solberg couple, as well as his own father. He hated Tristan, for putting him through double the pain he didn't even deserve, but he knew if his father were to reappear in such a dire situation, he could only embrace him. Sir Solberg was like a best friend to his father, yes, but Terry was his son as well. The jealousy didn't help Terry's emotions, he felt bad that he could feel such a way towards his father while the Solbergs could mourn, how he could be envious of someone already in the grave.

"Swoosh..." The sound of Terrance closing his wings around his body, descending with speed as a projectile towards the ground, and in a graceful opening of the wings, he glided once again. Through the golden hour, Terrance was able to make out another figure by the cemetery, one he'd seen out every morning since the parents had been buried. He flew towards Julius, and like a true avian, brought his legs up against the light post as he sat calmly in a perch. You would think in his full-black tuxedo and suede shoes he'd be uncomfortable in said position, but Terrance loved his clothing style, and was equally predisposed to be comfortable sitting like this, wings out wide for balance as he perched.

Terry had grown up with the Solberg kids, and was almost like one of them, even with his father being a workingman for their family. They treated him well, and he learned to love them as his own siblings. He also learned plenty about them, like a brother would. Something he knew, was Julius didn't cry. No matter the situation, he'd never seen him cry. Not until today. His own eyes couldn't help but water at the sight, and he wiped it off quickly. Terrance forced his staple side smirk, revealing only some teeth as he hoped to mask his empathy for his brother and the family.

"He's with the big man now, Julie. My dad took him up there, I'm sure of it." Terrance said softly. He never spoke with such emotion, and usually had a smooth talker voice. But in how he spoke to Julius, his voice-cracking and delicate, you could tell he was trying to be sympathetic. Honestly, Terrance wasn't entirely sure where the Solbergs had went in their deaths, but he tried to believe his father was the angel destined to bring them up to the golden city. He had to be.

Otrygg calmly mixed the last of the porridge before pouring that into a serving bowl alongside three others. He had woken up nearly half an hour ago, not because porridge took long to make (quite the opposite), but because he had to hunt around the kitchen to make sure a.) everything was in place and b.) none of Ellenora's creatures had made it to the kitchen. He had discovered the rune plate for 'heat' had been moved two drawers down, but otherwise his kitchen was just as he had left it the night before.

He went about his task at a steady pace, carefully dropping a handful of blue berries into the porridge, making it far fancier than anything he had ever had. It was even made with milk instead of water. From there he added some honey to one for Raphael, a side of toast for Julius, some bacon for Gideon, a few extra raspberries for Azura, and a hint of vanilla for Briar. "There, that should do it," he muttered to himself as he picked up the tray and headed towards the door and from there the Dining hall.

"Ellenora better have the table set for them, they've been moping about long enough as it is. It's nearly seven, they need to all be up and about." He continued muttering as he made his way to the dinning hall, head always swiveling and on the look out for that Karma Raza. It wasn't that he didn't like her, she was enjoyable enough company when she felt like it, but he had one to many uncomfortable encounters with her to risk it. So focused was he on spotting Raza before she spotted him, that it was all to likely that he would miss any traps Ellenora set up for any inattentive passerby.

James

James had always been an early riser. He sat at the table he kept in his residence having a drink of water to wake himself up as was his morning routine. He took a sip as he mulled over the atmosphere over the estate he'd witnessed for the past few days. James couldn't claim to be as emotionally affected as the late Solberg's children or even the staff who'd been in the man's service for a long time. James had lived on the estate for maybe three years now, and had respected the man, though James was past the mourning process. He was already wearing the garb he used when dealing with his animals and the necklace with the serrated dragon tooth was already around his neck as he finished his water, and moved to the pantry. James kept the dragon food out of the kitchen simply to keep him from having to move around the estate multiple times a day and bother the kitchen staff just to keep the dragons content.

He picked up the pail that was laid in the corner and grabbed selectively a few different kinds of food in the cold room. He grabbed carrots, some small round melons, a few slick raw fish which had not been scaled and cuts of bloody raw meat. The dragons did not care for their food mixing and this made it simpler.

On his way out the door he grabbed a shiny white stone and opened the door to his home moving out into the morning air. Not far away was the looming structure which was where his dragons were kept. The loud booming roar alerted him to the fact that Aggro was already awake, James had no idea why the biggest dragon seemed to start off everyday with some challenge to an enemy only Aggro was aware of. James decided to start off with Aggro, before the beast recovered from his drowsiness. James grabbed the heavy metal door handle and with some exertion slid open the entrance to Aggro's enclosure. The grass around the door was black burnt. Aggro had a nasty habit of shooting fire at anything to enter his enclosure. Luckily for James's pail the white dragon was not yet awake enough to throw any blaze. Though that may be due to the fact Aggro recognized James's scent and decided it wasn't worth the expended energy of throwing fire at something that couldn't be burned.

Aggro was raised on his hind legs slamming his massive weight against the far wall. His head swiveled around when James gave a sharp whistle and an angry amber eye narrowed. James set down the pail and grabbed a slab of meat. The dragon lowered himself to all fours and leaned down to consider the food sniffing it, Aggro slowly opened his mouth... And blew a blast of fire over James and the food. James was unaffected, thanks to his specific brand of fire magic but the meat was charred. A plume of smoke came out of the dragon's nostrils, "rude" was all James said. He threw the meat which Aggro snapped up, James leaned down and threw another two slabs at the dragon. He was careful not to overfeed any of the dragons. Even though Aggro was massive he could still only stomach a little bit of food at any time, anymore and the dragon would be sick all over the enclosure. That had not been fun to clean up, the big dragon was now full and turned around. Aggro beat his head against the wall once more before giving off another roar. James left Aggro to it, he suspected the dragon might end up needing a bigger enclosure as he grew more, but for now he was fine when it came to space Aggro just liked throwing tantrums. The biggest dragon had always been that way even as a hatchling, James's face was proof of that.

James left his most unpleasant dragon and closed the door behind him, the door was too small for the dragon to escape through but there were too many children in the estate for James to risk one of them getting curious and wandering into a dragon pen. Next were Midas and Mars. He found the gold and blue dragons lying beside each other still asleep. James gave another whistle and the two dragons picked themselves up to look at him. James picked up a melon and fish in his right and left hand. Mars immediately picked himself up and scurried over sniffing the fish before grabbing it his his vice like jaws. Mars sat on his back legs and held the fish in his front talons making small chirping sounds as he ate the food. Midas was a little less shameless, the golden dragon slowly made his way over.

Midas held his head forward and held his mouth open. "Lazy today eh"? James said as Midas gave a deep rumble, James deposited a melon into Midas's jaws and the dragon's jaws shut there was a loud thump as the melon was smashed. Midas gave a happy expression, or at least as close to a happy expression as a dragon could muster. Midas nuzzled James afterward almost knocking him over. "Yeah good morning" James said patting the dragon's side. He offered the smaller male dragons two more of their foods before taking out the shiny stone in his pocket and waving it in the air. Midas had a habit of trying to slip out the door as James left so James had started to bring little tidbits with him that he figured would strike the dragon's fancy. The stone did the job and Midas's gaze was glued to the rock as James waved it side to side before tossing it to the dragon's right. Midas moved with surprising speed and grabbed the rock in one talon before it even touched the ground.

As Midas rushed to the back of the enclosure to stash the rock with the rest of his hoard James laughed a little and exited the enclosure. Mars was usually too preoccupied savoring the taste of his fish to try and slip out so James didn't bother worrying about that one.

Last of all came James's favorite dragon, Minerva. He liked to say he didn't pick favorites but that wasn't true, the smallest and friendliest dragon definitely had his favor. He opened the door of the smallest enclosure and there was a happy squeak to his right. Minerva trotted up to him and sniffed his hand. James made sure to close the gate behind him this time. Minerva was small enough to slip in and out easily, whereas Aggro couldn't fit at all, Midas needed a bit of effort, and Mars was too timid to go into the unexplored territory. Not that he could imagine Minerva snapping at anyone unprovoked but he knew there were others around the estate didn't know how to handle themselves around dragons, there was also the danger of her flying off and simply getting lost. Safer to keep the gate shut.

Minerva seemed to have little interest in the food and simply made a clicking noise while lifting her head. James grabbed a carrot and gave Minerva's chin a rub which caused her tail to thump a little almost like an excited dog. He offered the carrot and Minerva took it, nibbling at it daintily. Minerva finished her carrot in her own time once finished she plopped on her belly and looked up beseechingly at James who couldn't help but juggle at Minerva's tendencies before summoning a bit fire on his hand he crouched and ran his hand along her scally back. The dragon gave a purr at the heat. James discovered that the dragons all seemed to like heat, they also generated heat but they welcomed any extra he was willing to throw their way. Even Aggro could be calmed by enough fire, James usually employed that strategy to get Aggro to calm down and go to sleep. James finished petting the dragon and stood back up. Giving his legs a quick stretch he opened the door. "No" James firmly said to Minerva as she got to her feet to follow him.

Minerva made a sound akin to a whine and flapped away to stretch her wings. James closed the door behind him and yawned, his morning routine of dragon care over with he decided to simply take a walk. He didn't get out often as he usually tried to stay near the enclosure just in case but he decided he may as well make an exception for today.

Briar Solberg

It hadn’t been long since her parents’ passing but it felt like an eternity without them had already passed. Sorrow had carved a piece of her heart out that she knew she most likely wouldn’t ever get back again. For days, she had layed in bed sobbing, only getting up for the occasional meal until one day, she had an idea: She was going to try to get her parents back by summoning the Fairy Godmother out of her Grimm’s Fairy Tales book. It was obviously a foolish idea that would likely lead to a horrible accident but Briar was so engulfed in her grief that she could think of no better way to end her crying. Since the Brother’s Grimm also happened to be her talisman, she figured that there was a smaller chance of a mistake happening while attempting to magic the Fairy Godmother out of the book. With a newfound determination, she got out of bed, fixed herself up to look more decent, and headed to the dining hall. After all, she didn’t want her food to get cold and she would need the energy for her first attempt at summoning the Fairy Godmother.

*EXTRA NOTE: She will not succeed in magicking the fairy out but will instead magic herself into the book.

Ellenora had been in the garden since the crack of dawn. She'd always been fond of the garden; it was a place of comfort for her. Here, the flowers bloomed freely and her wild companions frolicked (as much as they were allowed - unfortunately, not everyone in the Estate approved of rats lounging in the birdbath). The air always stirred with life.

Today, the morning air was colder than it was refreshing, and more stifled than calm. It felt as if the Earth itself was mourning. Felt like the world no longer dared to spin in their absence. And if it did, how dare it? At the garden's inside edge, Ellenora sat crouched before a flowerbed, watching dewdrops slide off the petals of the tiger lilies. The garden was flush with lilies year round, of all shapes and sizes and names. They were grown in honor of the Lady Solberg. But the blossoms were not meant to honor her in death. It never should have turned out this way.

She didn't move; even her breaths were slight. The atmosphere was thick with heartache. Bitterness throbbed in her chest, coursing fatigue through her veins. Her fingertips were numb as she reached into the lily patch, curled her fingers around a random stalk, and plucked it from its roots. She stared at its speckled petals, concentrated. The dark spots then seemed to shift - playing across the flower petals like dancers. They clustered together to form a shape: a woman in a ball gown, her hand outstretched. Adjacent to her was a man with a playful, flowing coat-tail. He, too, beckoned her.

Before their hands touched, however, the wind above Ellenora's head picked up, startling her. The images in the lily vanished, leaving it as plain as the others. Lightheaded from her scare, and the use of her magic, she glanced up in time to spot a blurry shape in the sky, soaring with such nonchalance it left no question of its identity. Had it already gotten that early, or had Terrance been feeling restless too? As her eyes followed him until he left her sight, she noted the hue of the sky.

The sweet glow of an early morning...

Her job! Ellenora stood swiftly, but kept her expression collected and posture straight, trying to hide how frazzled she was. She dusted off the hem of her dress, tucked the lily in her apron pocket, and took off toward the veranda. The time for mourning had passed. As much as Ellenora wanted to curl up in a ball at the foot of her master's tombstone and wither away, there was much to do and very little time to do it. As she hurried through long hallways, she mused bittersweetly: 'master' felt like such a distant term. 'Sir Solberg' wasn't much friendlier in comparison, but to Ellenora, that moniker meant home.

Ellenora entered the dining hall at last, her breath short. As she crossed the room toward the kitchen to wash her hands, she called over her shoulder, "Otrygg! Forgive me, please. I'll be right with you!" For good measure, she added, embarrassed, "And don't worry about me - it's much too somber for tricks today."

Now freshly washed up, Ellenora pulled open the polished doors of the china cabinet and set about gathering flatware. She only briefly counted, confident the Solberg children wouldn't be upset to discover they may be missing a coffee spoon or two. Everyone was a little out of sorts. At each seat she set down a spare dinner plate for the bowls of porridge to sit upon; just extra spill protection. She bordered each plate with a soup spoon, a teaspoon, and a butter knife. Lastly, she set down a tall glass for each child and realigned the vase centerpiece. Ellenora took the lily from her pocket and settled it with the other flowers. Oh, if Karma were here, she would have done so much better.

"I'm truly sorry for my delay," she said as soon as she was given a moment's peace, her gaze trailing toward Otrygg, timid, "what can I do for you to make amends?"

Juniper

From before the pale light of dawn, Juniper was already awake. A year and yet she was still acclimating to time. A year was supposed to be a long time. I hadn’t felt like it.
But the last few days felt like an eternity, and excruciatingly empty.

She watched the sunrise from where she was, lying on her back in the tall grass of the garden. The sky turned its colours, and the world moved on. The estate did not. And Juniper did not.

What was death, really? The explanations she had gotten were quite varied; a better place full of peace and a heavenly garden or something like that, a final, long sleep, deeply, horribly permanent, vast mead halls and endless tales of glory shared with gods, a tragedy, an inconvenience, a release (the talking skull gave her that one. She sometimes had conversations with it when Raza was asleep). The flowers told her it was a cycle, and the trees said it was a fact of life. All in all Juniper was more confused than before she’d asked anyone. All she really knew was that the Solberg parents were away and that she missed them.

But there she lie, wondering which one was right, if any at all. Most people acted like the ‘permanence’ thing was true, but June had a hard time trying to understand that anything was permanent. The leaves faded, fell, regrew, the greatest boulders would wander off sometimes, rivers would flow a direction one day and another way the next, the world was constantly in change. Perhaps death wasn’t permanent. Perhaps it wasn’t even a thing, or at least its own thing. Maybe it was the life that was impermanent?
A bird flew overhead. Oh, wait, no, that was just Terry. He’d said once that he was part ‘angel,’ and that angels were servants of God, ‘the highest power.’ June thought that such a simple word was an odd name for a Faerie queen, but who was she to say? She’d only met one.

June sat up and flicked the morning dew off the end of her braid. Just out of the corner of her eye, she saw Ellanora hurry off to some place. She didn’t think about it for too long.

Soon after, the changeling child rose to her feet. She was getting hungry, and it was just after the sun rose that Otrygg started making food. Just before she crossed the threshold, June pushed off the ground slightly and floated past it. Raza always said she tracked dirt around the estate. Juniper didn’t understand why that was a bad thing. She took to levitating when she was inside because the dead wood of the floors was hard to walk on.

‘Hi!’ She waved at the two already there as she drifted into the dining hall, hiding her melancholy with a lighthearted grin.

opo.jpgThe beast's roar echoed in Karma's ears, lifting the covers violently of her head. She mumbled to herself, "Stupid, stupid Drago-" furiously jumping off her bed, she opened the window. Although the dragons...liar was nowhere near Karma's room, it was the closest out of all the inhabitants in the manor (except the owner of the beasts). Not that it made a difference. It's not like they were mice ever time they opened their big fat-Karma turned around, grabbing her mirror and throwing it out the window. The mirror fell shattering into pieces.

"Did that make you feel better?" Karma calmly turned around to Brutus.
"You're next if you ruin my good mood." Karma usually wouldn't wake up this early she would sleep most of the day if she could. Arching her right brow, she took a "quick" bath and proceeded to brush her hair. After 30 minutes of skincare products and unusual witch remedies, she put on a red sleeveless dress. It was quite a hassle to slip it on. Maybe she shouldn't have asked to make it this tight. Putting on her black heels, she glanced at herself on the last time in the mirror, "Ah, so cute." before walking out the door, the poor excuse for a minion screamed in agony.

"Razaaaa! What about me?!" Turning around, she shook her head.
"You want me to play puzzles RIGHT NOW. I'm already late..."
Come to think of it if she brought him along. She wouldn't have to do anything. Walking over to a black trunk, she took out multiple bones and began assembling them.

____

"You can forget about me doing this again if you manage to fall." The skeleton walked next to Karma with a broom. As both figures entered the dining hall, Karma noticed Ellenora, "Is that my baby?" she said, walking up to her hugging her from the side, "Oh, which reminds me...Elly, you know I love you, BUT." She recited a quick spell, and a small cage appeared inside was a little creature, "I don't mean I love...whatever this is." she said, handing the jail to Ellenora, "Next time, I will feed them to the dragons. Or better use them as ingredients for my beauty remedies." Karma hated anyone entering her room, especially without permission. Even leaving the manor would be devastating if that were ever to happen, she would undoubtedly take her chamber with her.

It's already seven Karma had told Otrygg that they "were" mopping but that in itself was a lie nothing new, of course. Turning to her minion, she gave him a and motion, "Finish mopping and help my Elly with setting the table." As she was about to walk out, she spotted the little demon juniper. Giving her a look of disapproval, "When I get back, huh? You and I are going to talk." she playfully poked her head.
Karma walked off, deciding it was best to find the siblings and have them have their breakfast stopping at Raphael's bedroom. She put her ear on the door, "What am I doing?" Standing up straight, she banged her hand on the door, "Wake up! Breakfast is ready!" with that, she headed off to Azura's room and gave it a couple of bangs while shouting breakfast is ready one after the other she managed to go to all the sibling's bedrooms. Exhausted, she poofed up some roses, "Why are the rooms so far...curse you."

It was the time where Karma finally could talk to the late Solberg before things got hectic. What she didn't expect to see was to figures standing in the distance. Despite looking, young, her eyesight was one thing she couldn't stop from fleeting. As she got closer, she noticed who the two figures were.
"Jully, you were here! Then that means I went to your room for nothing." she said the last part to herself with a groan, "Oh yeah breakfea-" looking up she stopped in shock pushing the angel to get a better view, "what is that?!" she pointed at Julius pale face grabbing his face in her hands to better examine the unknown substance.

"Were you crying?" in shock, Karma held her chest, "You've never cried...not even when you were a kid. Who was it? Was it him?!" she said, turning to face the angel grabbing him by the collar, "I knew it right when my eye landed on you I knew you were terrible. From the moment I met you and your dad. Your act doesn't fool me."

Azura was curled up on her bed, fast asleep. Cleo had managed to squirm her way under Azura's arms and was also snoozing happily. Dreams of her parent's filled her mind. Of course she couldn't see them but she knew. Her mother's voice comforted her but it sounded so far away. Why was it so far away? He father, he told her all would be well but she couldn't figure out where we was. There seemed to be no light, so she couldnt see anything. Where were they? Where was she?
Her dream was soon interrupted by the sound of someone banging on the door startling her awake. As to who was banging was soon answered as she identified Karma's voice outside the door. She sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Her room was still dark she she used her telekenis to open her curtains, allowing in lots of light. She could feel the warmth on her side as light flooded in. She felt beside her for Cleo, finding the feline still asleep. With a tired sigh she got up from her bed and moved to her wardobe. Feeling around she grabbed a comfortable dress that she could slip on without too much hassle. Normally her mother woulf have helped her pick something and get ready but now she seemed to be own her own.
After brushing out her hair she made her way down to the dining hall. Even though she knew how to get there on her own she kept one hand on the wall to help guide her. As she entered she could hear the voices of those already in there. "Good morning," she said looking in there general direction.

Oh! As if on cue, the manor was springing to life. Juniper entered, looking as spry as she'd allow herself to be seen. Her vigor made Ellenora feel so old. She went to greet her. "Juniper, good morning." She regarded the girl with warmth. "You must be famished. Oh - where did you come from? Look at you," Ellenora set one hand on her hip. The other darted out to Juniper's shoulder and swept off a long, dewy blade of grass. She looked it over, like it was worth studying and not just a garden-variety piece of grass. Turns out it was indeed just grass. She quipped, "if you're not careful, miss Raza will have your head."

Speak of the devil. Ellenora's demeanor changed in an instant; her eyes grew wide with affection as Karma Raza flounced to her side. Despite herself, Ellenora managed a gentle smile. "The one and only," she responded jovially, wriggling out of her grasp (Ellenora adored her, but she wasn't the most hugs-y of folk). She smoothed down the front of her dress. A part of her wondered how Raza was dealing with the death of the Solberg parents. She seemed so cheerful. No, it would be truly inappropriate to ask even hours from now. It's her business.

Her eyebrows rose, surprised, as the little prisoner came into view. She accepted the birdcage with a disappointed 'tsk.' "Montague," she whispered sternly to the fat, lounging ball of fluff inside, "you know better." The offender, a mole, skittered toward Ellenora, poking its nose through the bars. As though it recognised her, the tiny creature chittered, perhaps with relief, and rolled onto its back. "You mustn't be too hard on him," She said matter-of-factly. "He can hardly see." Ellenora focused hard on the small mammal. Her brow furrowed. She closed her eyes and whispered underneath her breath. When Ellenora opened her eyes, her mole friend was no longer in the cage, nor was the blade of grass still clutched in her hand. She suspected they were out by the tiger lilies now. Internally, she cringed, and hoped Montague would find its way out of the garden before Otrygg spotted it. A long, worn-out sigh escaped from her lips. She'd learned that spell from Raza herself a while ago, but she wasn't particularly skilled with it yet. It drained nearly everything out of her even to transport teacups to the kitchen sink. Only seven in the morning and Ellenora already needed a nap.

"Would you mind holding on to this? I can finish with the table," she nodded toward the skeletal figure left in Raza's absence and handed him the empty bird cage. "Since it's more or less yours, you can do with it what you'd like."

The Eldest Solberg let out a slight gasp of surprise as he turned his attention to the being that had suddenly appeared at his side. Usually, Julius could feel whenever Terry flew by, but it appeared he was so caught up in his emotions that he failed to find his presence this time. Hurriedly, Julius wiped his eyes with his sleeve, the streaks of the tears still fresh on his face, and his trademark goofy smile appeared on his face, though it felt as if this time there was more force needed to bring it to the surface. "Mr. Armstrong! I-I didn't see you there...forgive me, I seem to be in quite a state at the moment..." Julius told the angel, taking a few more deep breaths to try and calm himself. The Solberg didn't miss his words, though he chose not to acknowledge them. While he wanted to believe that their souls were at peace with God, Julius knew better. If that ancient diety had truly called them back like he suspected, then it was unsure as to how they were at the moment. For all he knew, they could have been forced into servitude...

Julius banished these feelings from his thoughts. Terry was never one to be as vulnerable as this, and neither was Julius; for both their sakes, he decided it was best to act like nothing was wrong in the first place. "You're up rather early, aren't you? I appreciate you checking up on me, but it is unnecessary. I'm sure their passing has affected you just as much as it has anyone else. Why don't you take the day off? It might do you some good." He suggested to the angle, his perky, cheerful tone returning slowly with each syllable. Fake it until you make it, Julius repeated to himself, hoping Terry couldn't see right through him.

He didnt have much chance to find out, as the two were suddenly greeted by Miss Raza. She practically forced herself upon him as she inspected the tearstreaks that were still fresh upon his face, and Julius felt the heat rise as she did so. Miss Raza had a habit of getting close like that, and ever since Julius hit adulthood, it had flustered him to no end. Her asking if he had been crying made him think back to his own appearance. Despite his usual attire being very fine and well made, Julius himself was a mess. He had barely slept the last week, and dark circles ran around his eyes. His hair, though still its sleek silver, was ragged and curled in some places, and his face had a sunken look to it. Honestly, he was surprised Karma was able to discern he had been crying at all, much less bear to look at him. Her rage, however, made him jump into action, and he gently placed a hand upon her shoulder. "Peace, Miss Raza. Mr. Armstrong is at no fault here. I wasn't crying, I just....haven't been feeling well." He told her, lying through his teeth. As if on a nervous reaction, he reached inside his coat and pulled out a simple white handkerchief, which he used to wipe down his face some, trying to make sure all traces of his tears were gone.

Unfortunately for him, as he brought the cloth to his face, it began to squirm violently until it shot out of the young lord's hands. It began to flap its sides like a bird and hovered around the air in front of him a bit before it took off for the treeline. Julius huffed in annoyance, his ability once again acting without his consent. "Damn. And that was the silk one, too..." he mused to them, pouting like a child. He looked back to Karma and sighed, shaking his head. "Please, would you return to the manor and check on my siblings? Both of you? It would do me well to know they're not grieving still." He asked of them, looking down at his feet while his hands found a home in his pockets.

Nathaniel was slowly brought into wakefulness by the usual sounds of the house- the cook rattling around the kitchen, the maid wandering the halls. He lifted himself from the bed and proceeded to wash, careful with his skin as he always was. He combed his hair back from his forehead and meticulously began to dress, adjusting each layer of clothing after putting it on. Just as he was checking his reflection in the mirror and adjusting the hat on his head, he heard Raza knocking on each door down the hallway, calling his cousins to wake.

When she failed to knock on his door, the customary frustration rose inside him. On the one hand, he had no desire to be woken or addressed in such an abrupt, undignified manner. On the other hand, it reinforced the fact that his precious cousins were the important ones, and he didn't matter. The habitual scowl coming to his face, he proceeded to exit the room after the sounds of activity had drifted away down the hall and quieted down. When he walked into the dining room and sat himself at his usual chair, he noticed those already gathered there.

Otrygg, busying himself with breakfast and distributing porridge. Nathaniel was quick to notice that there were bowls already made for Julius, Gideon, Azura, Briar, and Raphael, but not for him. Nora, bubbly as always and in the middle of setting the table. Azura and Briar, quiet and demure and frustratingly perfect and proper. And then there was that infernal girl, Juniper, already covered in grass and grinning stupidly at the rest of the room. Nathaniel was certain to give her a pronounced glare before looking pointedly away from her and focusing his attention on the cook.

"I see my breakfast has been forgotten once again," he declared petulantly.

Rieka stirred slowly as the rays of the sun fell onto her face through the open curtains at her window. She frowned at first, clinging to sleep, then opened her eyes, squinting in the glare and wishing the room were a little darker. Wolves were generally nocturnal creatures, and she'd been out roaming the forest late last night. She growled low in her throat and proceeded to turn over a few times, messing up the blankets even further, before resigning herself to the inevitable and placing her bare feet on the floor.

The cold helped to make her slightly more awake, and she walked over to the basin for her daily ablutions with customary slowness. Once there, she used her cupped hand to drink some of the refreshingly cool water and splash it over her face. Blinking at her reflection and satisfied that she was awake enough to get some food, she shook out her long red hair and stretched out her tall frame. Sufficiently relaxed, she headed out the door and into the direction of the kitchen, not bothering to adjust, add to, or change the simple rumpled shirt she had on.

When she reached the dining room, she gave the space a cursory once-over. Otrygg, tall and in his element. Nora, bustling about and late as usual. Azura and Briar, composed and perfect as always. Juniper, friendly and cheerful. And of course, Nathaniel- looking refreshingly surly. Rieka walked over to the far end of the table, pulling a bowl and spoon towards her as she sat down, holding up the former in the cook's direction and smiling.

"How about some grub, big guy?" she asked genially.

Raphael, as always, was woken by a voice in his head. And no, it wasn't that of the fictional friend of a twelve-year-old with an overactive imagination, but that of a very real demon, currently contracted to a twelve-year-old of problematic summoning ability. The voice spoke in low, measured tones, so as not to startle the boy into wakefulness.

"Raf, time to wake up."

Raphael, immediately awake, scowled and sat up in bed.

"I told you not to call me that, M," he said out loud to the empty room.

"Why not?" the demon replied. "If I get a cute little nickname, you should get one too."

The boy's scowl became more pronounced.

"We are not having this conversation again, demon," he said with a air of pronounced finality. The ensuing silence was answer enough, and Raphael got out of bed with a satisfied feeling. Demons needed to be kept in line, after all. Give them a finger, they'd take your arm, rip it from your body, and whack you repeatedly over the head with it.

Raphael washed and then went over to the closet to pick out his outfit for the day. With his unseen servant's assistance, he put the ensemble together- shoes, stockings, shirt, short pants, jacket, hat and, most importantly, ribbon. He checked his reflection in the mirror with a satisfied smile.

"Well, don't you look cute?" the demon pronounced sardonically. Raphael scowled again.

"Be quiet, or suffer the consequences." He could swear the silence that followed was a surly one. He was checking his reflection again when there was a knock at the door and he heard Raza's voice telling him to wake up. Raphael rolled his eyes as she proceeded down the hall to wake the rest of his siblings. She really should know by now that that isn't necessary, he thought. When he was satisfied that every element of his outfit was in order, he gave his room a cursory glance before exiting and heading down to the kitchen, closing the door behind him. Upon entering, he noticed he was far from the first one there.

Otrygg, Nora, Azura, Briar, Juniper, Nathaniel and even (somewhat unusually) Rieka had all arrived before him.

"Good morning," he said to the room at large as he walked over to his place at the table, picked up his spoon, and started to eat. He had to admit- the cook knew him well. Sweetened with a generous helping of honey, the porridge was just the way he liked it.

OOC: Demons, I tell you ;P

Otrygg gave a firm nod before following behind Ellanora to place the bowls down once she had the spot set. "Keep your friends out of the kitchen, and I'd like to stay out of any of your mischief for at least a week. Otherwise, you don't have to do a thing." He told her smiling, knowing that she could easily do both of the things he asked of her. He remembered getting a rather cold bath one morning, after having just gotten dressed. "Oh, and the heat plate had been moved. Might you know anything about that?" He asked nonchalantly.

"Ah, Lytling, I see you have found your way into the manor. I didn't make you any breakfast. Ah, wait, maybe I have something for you." Otrygg said before placing down the now empty tray. With a great amount of fanfare, he made sure to show her there was nothing up his sleeves and turned out all of his pockets. Thenthere was a thunderous thud of his fist hitting his chest, followed by a cough that was politely covered by his hand, and finally he revealed the dried berries and nuts that had 'magically' appeared in his hand. "I'll make you something proper once I've made sure the young Solbergs have eaten." He said with a smile before carefully handing the small cache of food to the floating girl.

He nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard the voice of one Karma Raza behind him. He quickly moved himself to a corner and hoped she hadn't noticed him, but a quick glance in his direction told him that he had unfortunately been spotted. However, it seemed she had other things that needed to be done, for as quickly as she had arrived she was gone, leaving behind her skeletal assistant. "You'd think with all the bells that woman wore it'd be easier to hear her coming." he muttered softly to himself, taking great care to make sure the skeleton hadn't heard him. As for the mole Raza had handed Ellanora, and who Ellenora had poofed to somewhere, he wished it the best and prayed it hadn't ended up in the kitchen for it's own sake. It seemed to be having a rough morning, and he didn't want it to be any worse.

Then he saw Briar Solberg arrive. "G'morning, Miss Solberg." He greeted her with a nod towards the bowl of porridge with vanilla in it. "Put something special in todays breakfast. Should put a lovely twist on a reliable classic. But if not, let me know so I don't make the mistake again." He didn't see Briar to often, most likely because she often had her nose in a book. He didn't mean that as an insult, it was merely an observation on his end.

As that thought finished up, another of the Solberg children arrived. It was Azura. Quickly walking over to her side, he gently took one of her hands in one of his calloused ones to guide her to the table. "I prepared porridge for breakfast today Miss. A small surprise in yours. Tell me if you like it and if I should do it again." He set her hand on the chair with the correct porridge in front of it before holding it out for her like a gentleman. He had seen much more of Azura, given her tendency to wander the garden. Though sometimes he wondered if he

He jumped once more as another made their presence known. It was their cousin Nathaniel. "Ah, yes, apologize, Master Asal, I was unsure of what you wanted and decided it was best to wait to hear from you." Ortrygg said as diplomatically as possible. It was like trying to walk through a thorn bush trying to make Nathaniel happy, difficult and with more than a few pricks taken.

"Ah, Reika. I'll get to you after Master Asal has put in his request." It was amazing how well spoken Otrygg, whose first language was long dead, was being. A tell tale sign that he was tiptoeing on egg shells and being very careful none of them so much as shifted. Hopefully Reika, someone he often had the pleasure of working with and helping, would understand and be a little patient with her food.

And lastly, Raphael entered, took their seat, and promptly began eating their porridge. And, judging by the lack of words coming from their mouth, they liked it.

Gideon Solberg
~~~~~
Karma's knocks upon his door echoed through out the darkened room of one Gideon Solberg. Normally such a sharp noise would startle him from a sound sleep thanks to his sensitive ears. However, this fine morning deviated from this routine as Gideon was in fact not fast asleep in his four poster bed but instead sat in front of his desk; elbows propped against the dark wood as his head rested within his pale hands. Brown,shaggy locks of hair obscured his face. When the knock and Karma's voice rang out from the door Gideon didn't even acknowledge it, seemingly frozen in his position. To say the deaths of his mother and father had dealt a crippling blow to the young man was an understatement. The first few days after the funeral Gideon had locked himself inside his room, never coming out for anything, not even food. He just couldn't handle it, the thought of wandering the estate while knowing they were gone was almost enough to make him physically ill. And then on the fourth day, after several threats of breaking down his door from both servants and siblings alike, Gideon finally pulled himself together and braved the outside world. He now ate with everyone in the dining room and took strolls across the gardens, but the young man still spent a fair amount of time in isolation either in his own room or the Meditation room. Slowly but surely Gideon was coping with his parent's deaths.
Unfortunately, last night had been...difficult. Gideon hadn't slept a wink. Instead the second eldest Solberg sibling remained at his desk, glaring up through his window and at the starry sky where the luminescent form of a waxing gibbous moon shone down. Tonight was going to be a full moon, the first full moon he'd have to face with out Lord and Lady Solberg. It's not as if their presence where necessary as by now Gideon knew by heart what to do (down to the basement , the room at the far left corner of the vast area, lock it up tight) but it was nice to see mother and father's smiling faces the moment when he'd finally come back to himself when dawn made it's appearance. At least Gideon still had his siblings and Reika, without their support the young man would have given into the beast long ago...
When his stomach protested loudly Gideon finally moved from the desk, back popping as he straightened it out causing him to hiss in pain. Yep, never doing that again. How Julius can sit hunched over his own desk in the laboratory all day is a mystery Gideon cannot fathom. Surely his elder brother with become a hunchback by the time he's thirty. It took around ten minuets for Gideon to complete his morning toilette before throwing on a silk dressing robe over his night clothes and heading to the dining room for some breakfast. Upon entering he saw that all of his younger siblings where present, as well as Nathaniel, Reika, Otrygg, Ellanora, and Juniper. Immediately, Gideon went to the first sibling with in reach, Azura, and placed a quick kiss on her head before ruffling her hair.
"Good morning, sister mine," he said before going over and repeating his actions on to the other two siblings (making sure to ruffle Rapheal's hair extra hard just because). Once that was done Gideon quickly located his meal, porridge with a plate of crispy bacon, and barely sat down before he started devouring the bacon with gusto.
'Didn't know what I wanted' my foot, Nathaniel thought, irked. You had no trouble preparing food for them.
He was about to reply when that infernal Rieka walked in, dressed completely inappropriately as usual. Nathaniel had gotten somewhat used to the sight at this point, but it never ceased to infuriate him.
Butlers of all people should know how to have proper decorum!, he fumed, drumming his fingers on the table. This was when the youngest sibling walked in. Nathaniel never knew what to make of Raphael, as the kid was a definite enigma. Wandering the house in women's clothing a third of the time, locked in his mysterious attic room the second third, and talking to himself the rest- definitely a strange kid.
After that it was Gideon's turn to arrive, overly affectionate with his siblings as he always was. Nathaniel watched the interaction sullenly, feeling left out as always. In order to make himself heard, he cleared his throat loudly and called
"I'll take a French omelette then, with lobster and watercress, and mind you don't overcook the lobster this time!"
Juniper
Ellanora returned Juniper’s greeting warmly and brushed a bit of grass off her shoulder.
‘Garden,’ she shrugged. ‘I’m not touching the floor, so she shouldn’t be upset. It’s usually when I touch the floor that she--’
June was interrupted by Raza herself strutting into the hall. Close behind her followed the trapped skull, moving on its own with a collection of animated bones. She busied about for a moment, threatened a little furry creature and rudely handed it off to Ella. June wore a sympathetic pout.
Unexpectedly, Raza then turned to her. June shrank back a bit when the maid jabbed a finger at her and declared they’d have something to talk about later.
‘That she gets angry…’ She watched Raza leave, biting her lip. When she was gone though, Otrygg called June’s attention, and there returned that smile of hers. It grew a little more genuine though with his performance of sleight-of-hand tricks. She was accustomed to things moving or disappearing in less than the blink of an eye, but she knew the cook’s magic, which wasn't this, and thus his act was just that much more entertaining. Juniper took the snack gladly and began eating.
‘It’s alright,’ She assured with her mouth full. ‘I’m fine to wait! I am going to sit down though.’ With that declaration, she drifted over to the chair she always took, whose place was set but empty. One could only stay in the air for so long. Ignoring Nathanial’s pointed glare, June settled down, sitting cross-legged in the seat. She had a hard time understanding what he held against her. As usual, her place was still set with cutlery, as if Ellanora still held out hope that one day the changeling girl would use them. She returned general greetings with a smile, a wave, and a wordless two note ‘hm-mm’ hello. But just out of the corner of her eye, June noticed Azura’s place was missing a spoon. A quick, nonchalant toss made the silverware find its way just beside the plate, hardly two moments before Azura took her seat. Whatever glances she might have gotten, for either the trick or for having her elbow on the table to rest her head on her hand, June disregarded by looking up toward the ceiling with particular interest, as if she’d never seen the decorum before in her life. It was sharply interrupted by Nathaniel's loud request. She replied, in her typical cheery tone and good intention.
'I think I've seen some watercress growing by the garden pond! If I'm right about the name.'
Raphael barely paid attention to the rest of the room as he ate, keeping his eyes on the table. It was his intention to spend the morning up in his summoning attic trying a few experiments, and he needed the strength to do it. He was only halfway through his bowl, however, when Gideon showed up- the only other person aside from Rieka still in his nightclothes.
He proceeded to greet his sister with a kiss and the usual ruffling of the hair. Raphael didn't know why his sisters put up with it- they were more than entitled to demand that he stop. Being extremely careful with his own appearance, whether he was spending the day as a boy or a girl, Raphael knew what kind of effort went into making their hair look that perfect every morning, and Gideon always ruined it.
He'd tried to get his brother to stop doing it to him too but, Gideon being Gideon, he knew how much it annoyed him and therefore made of point of continuing to. This morning, Raphael didn't fail to notice that his head received extra attention compared to his sisters, and he glared at his brother as he sat down while trying to repair the damage. M didn't fail to notice his frustration.
I could take care of him for you, the demon suggested. Raphael betrayed his new irritation with the slightest crease of his forehead.
Enough. You could practically hear the demon shrugging his nonexistent shoulders.
All right, all right- just trying to help.
Raphael ignored the voice in his head, finished rearranging his hair, and returned to his porridge just as Nathaniel gave Otrygg yet another rather obnoxious breakfast order and Juniper told him where she'd seen some watercress. Raphael didn't know if she was suggesting he go pick the watercress to subtly infuriate him, or if it was because she really was that clueless.
Azura was suprised as someone took her hand but immediately recognized it as Otrygg by the texture of his hand. "Oh, thank you," she said as he helped her into her spot. Knowing where he was she smiled up at him, appreciating his help. "And as for the food, I'm sure it'll be lovely." Then turning her attention to said food. Having heard something hit the table she reached out, finding a spoon. Her other hand reached out to hold her bowl but was interrupted before she could even take her first bite.
"Gideon," she whined as her hair was ruffled. She shook her hair out before looking in his direction. "Morning brother," she said with a small smile. Before finally taking her first bite of food. The berriers brought a nice freshness to the porridge. A quite "mmm" escaped her as she ate.
The whole time she ignored Nathaniel, finding him to be quite annoying always acting the victim. She didn't let his attitude ruin her meal but found his request to be more than obnoxious. It was easy to find him in the room due to how loud he was. Looking directly at Nathaniel she glared at him. "Must you torment Otto," she said, her voice pointed and obviously irritated by his attitude. Despite how hard she tried to be calm now a days her old irritability stuck around.
Rieka nodded when Otrygg explained that he had to attend to Nathaniel's order first, and she got up to go pour herself a cup of coffee. She sat back down with the cup and deeply inhaled the potent aroma before taking a scalding sip. The coffee was as dark and bitter as ever, and Rieka smiled in satisfaction. She watched Raphael arrive, sit himself down, and begin to eat, followed by Gideon.
She observed the second eldest Solberg sibling carefully, noticing a slight hunch to his back, the pale hue of his skin, and the dark circles under his eyes. Though he was obviously making an effort towards cheerful normality, she could tell he was suffering. Probably nervous about the upcoming full moon, she thought.
Nathaniel then called out yet another obnoxious breakfast order and Rieka rolled her eyes. You only asked for that because you know it's difficult to make and will take him forever, you brat, she thought. Normally, she would have said this out loud, but she didn't want to do anything that might upset the siblings when they were so fragile.
She chuckled to herself when Juniper replied, knowing it would infuriate him. Surprisingly, Azura chose to voice her feelings as well, and Rieka almost felt bad for the awkward youngster now under attack. After all, it wasn't his fault he was a Changeling. But if Juniper could turn out all right being raised by the fae, it was a shame that the same could not be said for him, raised by humans.
As the siblings resumed their meal, Rieka called over to Otrygg
"Looks like you have your work cut out for you, so I think I'll just grab something from the pantry," she said with a sympathetic grimace. "Also, for the last time Tryggi, my name is Rieka. Gabriel groaned when he heard Raza banging on doors and calling for the Solberg siblings to wake up and come to breakfast. Does she have to do that so loudly and early?, he wondered miserably, head still pounding from his over-indulgence the night before. Though the light in his room was already very dim, due to the curtains being fully drawn over the window, he nonetheless covered his head with his arms and prayed for obscurity.
After a long moment of this, the pounding quieted down somewhat, and he was able to open his eyes and sit up in bed, glancing around his room and trying to piece together the events of the previous night. There had been liquor- he knew that much-, and yet another glittering party that he'd brought back to the estate. Rumpled clothing littered the floor, and as his gaze swiveled around it fell on an arm protruding out of the blankets next to him. A most lovely arm, with perfect creamy skin. Gabriel grinned.
Ah, now I remember. Embassy parties were always his favorites, as he was able to meet far more exotic beauties and try more exotic substances than he normally got to indulge in. As he moved around a little, the redhead next to him stirred and whimpered softly. He leaned down and kissed her head lightly.
"I'm sorry for waking you, darling. I must go down to breakfast now- can I get you anything?" She mumbled an incoherent reply and dug herself further into the covers. Gabriel got out of bed and put on his robe, pausing only to check his hair in the mirror, before quietly exiting the room.
He walked down the hallway and paused at Gideon's door.
"Gid?" he called, knocking softly. "You in there?"
When there was no response, Gabriel pushed open the door. The curtains were drawn, the bed was unmade, and the room was empty. Gabriel smiled.
Good, he made it up this morning, he thought. Gideon had been doing better over the last couple of days, but Gabriel had been worried that, with the full moon coming up tonight, he might regress.
Closing the door behind him, he walked down the hall to the dining room, taking in the occupants at a glance and catching the tail-end of Rieka's statement.
"That 'tramp'," he called loudly and clearly as he walked over to the table and sat himself down, "was the daughter of the current Shogun of Japan, so I suggest you show a little more respect when it comes to her, Rie." He arched a pointed eyebrow in her direction.
"Incidentally," he called over to Otrygg, "the Tzar's daughter will be wanting her breakfast in bed a little later. I'm afraid she's not feeling too well this morning- is that coffee I smell?"
As he looked around for the source of the heavenly brew, he could picture the eyerolls no doubt occurring behind his back.
opo.jpg"Oh, oops." Karma didn't bother to look at him, "It's faster. It's not my fault you walk like a turtle." The Skelton was eager to respond but knew precisely why the witch had called him. He gave a summary of what's been going on. Karma's blood began to boil as if on cue, "He said what?" Picking up her pace as she entered the dining-room, she did a motion pulling up her nonexistent sleeves, "I've been keeping silent because two souls have passed but to here and that's enough!"
"One more unnecessary comment out of your mouth Nathaniel Solberg on god, I'll forget the Solberg blood running through your veins and turn you into a sweet juicy steak," Grabbing her bowl she handed it to the cocky brat, "and I'm sure Rieka and Gideon would be happy to have you for dinner."
Taking a breath from the screaming, she turned to Otrygg, "Ah, he made my blood boil...if I'm not allowed to have my cake, neither is he."
Briar Solberg
”Good morning,” Briar nodded at Ottryg. She took a tentative spoonful of porridge. She couldn’t help but smile, vanilla was her favorite extra flavoring in porridge. “Thank you Ottryg,” Briar said. She began taking huge spoonfuls of the porridge, almost wolfing down her breakfast. In a few quick minutes, she had already finished her porridge. She didn’t pause to exchange pleasantries and promptly left the room, not thinking about how her quick exit would be suspicious. She sprinted into her room, made sure to lock the door, and sat down in her reading recliner. Briar leafed through her Brother's Grimm book to find the perfect page to read the fairy godmother out. After a few minutes of mental debate, she chose the part where the fairy godmother turned the pumpkin into a carriage and the mice into footmen. She took a deep breath and began reading. The words rolled off her tongue like water, the images of what she was reading began painting themselves and they looked so real that she could almost touch hem. She smiled, she could already feel the electricity in the air from the magic that the fairy godmother was casting. Suddenly, she was standing on grass instead. she did a full 360, her surroundings looked exactly as how they were described in the book. Briar could help but groan, "Bloody--" She was interrupted by the fairy godmother's spell. Before she could scream, she had transformed into a portly footman. No! She internally screamed herself for being so foolish for picking the bibbity, bobbity, boo part to read. Briar racked her mind for ways to get out of the horrible mess she had created and she thought of only 3 options, all of which were risky and did not guarantee sucess: Wait it out until midnight and be transformed back (which could be a few minutes or a few days depending on each book), go back to reality and see of any of the others could help her, or go in and out of the book, passing a couple hours in the book and then going back out for a couple hours. Before the godmother began wondering why there was a missing footman, she whispered, "Exit!" When she was surrounded by her cushy recliner again, she breathed a sigh of relief. Briar got up and glanced in the mirror. The sight of her (or rather the footman) was so frightening that she couldn't help but howl at the top of her lungs.
Terry Armstrong
Julius was surprised at the angel's appearance, something that'd definitely struck him; Julius was never surprised at his appearance. Terry had come to believe that Julius could sense his unrivaled charm from a distance, but it seemed with the stress and pain of the love, it was certainly getting to him. He watched sympathetically as the new Sir Solberg apologized, and Terry quickly shook his head, patting down something imaginary in front of him as he tried to calm him down. "It's okay Julie... Best to mourn now and get it all out, brother." He said sympathetically. Terrance wanted to shed a tear, to cry with Julius down at the cemetery, but he knew Julius didn't need the sympathy. He understood it all too well. Neither Julius, or Terry enjoyed the feeling of pity. He might've even crossed a line, approaching him now, but somebody had to check on the eldest.
Julius masked his emotions with a fake copy of his staple, foolhardy smile. Terrance took the hint, and smiled a subtle smirk, his own staple. Something to show Julius he understood, and they wouldn't have to deep any deeper into the suffering than needed. "Me? The day off? My dad's gone with your parents," As he spoke, Terrance glanced about the estate, taking in the beauty, but also a hint of sorrow he tried to hide, "Someone has to watch over you delinquents." He teased, "Who better than me? I'll take up the Chief of Security job for free, as long as I get to keep my bedroom. My dad briefed me on plenty before he disappeared, I under-"
His sentence was caught off at Raza's appearance, the youthful grandma of the estate. Yes, read that again. Karma looked like a young girl, but had aged over a century. The witch definitely brought life to the estate, and he enjoyed her sweet compliments ever so often. She was quite the damsel herself, but in spite of the looks, far too old to court in Terrance's opinion. Terry was grateful for someone else coming to watch over Julius with him, and was stunned when Raza quickly turned on him. He'd been leaning far too forward, and fell into the witch's grasp, her hand clasped tightly over his collar as she gave him a deathly stare. Terry held in a threat of his own, fist clenched when she'd mentioned his father, but this was Raza, impulsive and forgetful, even with all the good deeds of his family towards the Solbergs. "You don't mean that, sweetheart. Now let go, you'll ruin the material." He said in a composed fashion, descending onto the ground-level with the witch now. Bending his neck down to the woman holding him by the throat had been very uncomfortable.
Julius excused him, and Terrance smiled at the lie. Still, it was enough to get Raza to release him, and he quickly adjusted the collar of it. "My newest Armani, Raza, jeez." He muttered, fixing his dress and hair. "You're not to bad yours-" He continued, but as he looked up from his clothes, the witch was gone, "Self..."
"You shouldn't mourn like this, Jules. If you need something, you can always find me."
And with that, a large gust of wind pushed the leaves out of the area. His wings stretched and contracted, forcing the air outwards and propelling him up into the air. He flapped his wings with force, headed for the main estate. Terry ducked into the large front doors of the estate, and upon his entrance, screams sounded faintly in the back of his ears. "Hey, guys. Bye, guys." He said quickly to anyone in the front hall, before heading to the rooms of the building. It wasn't a surprise who it'd end up being.
"What's going on in there, kid?" He said sternly. His wings disappeared somewhere in his tuxedo without a single rip or mark, and his dress shoes landed against the carpet floors with a thud. He stood in front of Briar's room with a tired look on his face, waiting to see what mischief she'd be up to now. He still hadn't been over the feeling of when the young sorceress had magicked him into the Little Princess book, and he'd almost drowned in Ursula's domain before the young teen could find him. Admittedly, Terrance felt it hilarious what'd happened, but would never give Briar the benefit of knowing. Instead, with the parents, and his father absent, and most of her siblings still mourning, he'd taken it upon himself to set the child straight.
"Anytime soon..." He added, raising his hand to knock on the door.
