overview.
The slush club. a group of childhood friends who swore they would stay together until they died. but things never go according to plan, do they? led by marlene "marley" preston, this group of friends stayed together through thick and thin. until they got to high school, that is. the summer before ninth grade, there was an argument that split the group along party lines. and marley, fed up, disbanded the slush club, at the same place they met - stormie’s diner, home to the best frozen drinks in town.
that was then. this is now. it’s six years later and everyone just wants to get the hell away from greenbrook, and away from the past. some of the members of the slush club have barely spoken to each other, but that all changes when all of them receive a text from the one person who said she didn’t want anything to do with them: marley preston. “meet me at the diner? our table.”
so, you follow the text, and when you do, there’s no one there. stormie's is just as empty as it's always been, save for stormie herself, who gives you a nod and mentions that marley wanted you to sit in a specific spot. your spot. you sit, waiting for marley when your ex-friends walk in the door and join you, all confused. there’s only one question on your mind: where’s marley?
your phone buzzes. it's a text from an anonymous number. as you open the video, you see marley in the bathtub, enjoying a bath. she’s laughing, having a good time. but then the door opens. you can only see the back of this figure, and as the audio cuts out, and all you see is the mysterious figure pushing her head underwater, and holding it there.
now you and your friends have to figure out who the murderer is, while trying to maintain some sense of normalcy. but beware: they could be anyone in town, even one of your friends. you’ll need to rely on each other to solve this mystery, and maybe, just maybe, you'll go back to how things were.
tldr.
The Slush Club is a group following six former childhood friends as they try to solve the murder of their leader. Set in 2018, they have to figure out who killed Marley ... and which one of them is next. There's a catch, though. One of them is the killer

roles.
the chameleon
open
marley’s second in command, the chameleon, is used to changing who they are to fit in. they’ve never had a true sense of identity, and they’re so used to being at the beck and call of whoever they’re doing the bidding for at that time. whether it be for marley, or their step-sibling, the heir. whenever marley needed anything, the chameleon was right there. they got information that the gossip never could by infiltrating certain spaces. despite this, marley never realized that the chameleon was losing their sense of self. the chameleon lurks in the shadows, trying to find their place, and they’re pretty sure they found it in the slush club. though it’s only a matter of time until they feel like an outcast with them too.
the derelict
open
as marley’s on again/off again, the derelict constantly says a big fuck you to the world around them. they always got into trouble, causing mischief all around greenbrook, much to the dismay of others in the club. but, the slush club was always there to bail them out, and lift them up, even if they didn’t want it. they've been in a love you - hate you cycle with marley since middle school. growing up, the derelict antagonized marley, and she returned the spite. but, one group project later, these two unlikely allies were friends, or maybe something more. the love/hate relationship continued following the disbanding of the group. besides marley's younger sibling, the derelict was one of the last people to see her alive.
the gossip
open
marley’s go-to source for everything going on in greenbrook, the gossip is the best person to go to when you need information. much like the chameleon, the gossip is good at getting information out of people, but they do it in much more sinister ways. the gossip is observant and wants to use the information against people. they want to be on top of the greenbrook food chain, and they’re not afraid of anyone who gets in their way. the gossip was marley’s, well, gossip buddy. they connected over a shared love of gossip, and soon enough, marley invited them to join the slush club. along the way, the gossip met the heir, and they instantly bonded, eventually leaving marley high and dry once the club disbanded.
the heir
open
the top of the food chain, the heir knows their power, and how to use it. blessed with good looks, and an even better wit, they’re determined to get everyone on their side, and if not, well, they’re just going to have to take you down. no one truly knows what happened between marley and the heir. as far as anyone knows, they were two peas in a pod. if you asked her, she would have said that the heir was the one person she could admit anything to. her best friend in the entire world. so, how did they go from loving each other, to deliberately sabotaging each other at any chance they got? rumors spread that it may have been how marley took a shine to the chameleon, others say that something else happened. but, marley didn't mention anything.. and she never will.
the jock
taken
the final member to join the group, the jock has always been a bit of a wildcard. in the second semester of seventh grade, the biology teacher, mr. hirsch, reassigned the lab partners. dawn, was paired up with marley preston. marley was girly, the opposite of dawn. she was outspoken and reckless, and soon enough, marley invited dawn to be the final member of their friend group. but no one knew much about them when they joined. all the others knew was that they loved sports, specifically soccer, and had a heart of gold. but, they are the person responsible for the disbanding of the club. while everyone else focused on the slush club, the jock moved on to better things. they hung out with the jocks at school, missing out on group hangouts and more. but, through it all, the jock has always blamed themselves for splintering the group, and misses them all.
the wiseacre
open
marley’s younger sibling, the wiseacre is the smartest person in the group – or, at least, that’s what they tell themselves. the wiseacre wants to be the smartest person in the room, and they’re constantly trying to achieve that goal. they’re on the path, though, if skipping a grade to be caught up with their sister was any indication. the wiseacre is the second youngest in the club, and marley never really wanted them there. they skipped a grade or two, and marley was made to bring them along. but, through this, they got close again. not as tight as they were as kids, but, still close.
rules
rules.
rule one.
While there will be drama, make sure to keep it IC instead of OOC. I am not going to tolerate any sort of drama that would cause tension between the group. You should treat everyone the way you want to be treated, we are here just to have a good time and create a story together. I will not tolerate any bigotry of any sort. Please follow all RPN rules.
rule two.
Please be okay with one of your characters being the killer, and be okay with violence occurring. I intend for this group to be expansive and interactive, where you discuss clues amongst themselves and interact with NPCS along the way. Due to the nature of this group, I ask that all members be 18 or older.
rule three.
Discord is absolutely required. We will be using it for OOC purposes, and to further the plot. Most writing will take place in an RPN thread.
rule four.
This group is semi-literate to literate. Please be willing to write 3+ paragraphs for a response, and make sure to include everyone in your posts. While writer's block is totally understandable, try to aim for two paragraphs but absolutely no one-liners or one-paragraph posts.
rule five.
We are not first-come, first-serve, which means more than one person can apply for the same role, and I will be picking which one I think fits the role best, and who would have the best dynamics.
rule five.
While the base character roles are a foundation, I encourage you to adapt these characters to make them your own! There’s no gender restriction for any of the characters, but to make sure everyone has an equal chance when it comes to connections, your character should be at least bisexual, which can change once we finalize the cast!
rule six.
Realistic faceclaims only please. No animated characters, anime faceclaims or AI-generated faceclaims will be accepted.
