The Thundering Mustelid

Far to the North there is a small village called Tipwo, a derivative of the orchish word for tip of the world. Only home to a mere 712 people the population is hardy and diverse and they look out for one another…or at least they did. On the first night of the winter season a merchant caravan made its scheduled pass through the town where they would pick up exotic furs only to find that the entire village had been abandoned ,though it seemed to have done so in a panic. The merchants returned to the Great City of Karrakhan with greater haste but their arrival was too late, the harsh winter blizzards had rolled in an an investigation could not be sent until the Start of spring a whole three months later.

King Altiun Decided that rather then send a squadron of Soldiers he would send his eldest Son Prince Caelain, notorious for his laziness, though he was not cruel so he would give his Son access to the royal coffers for this mission though only if he could convince the treasurer of each expenditures validity. Prince Caelain promptly worked with the treasurer to set a budget for supplies, a Fair amount to take with him to cover unforeseen expenses, and a hefty amount of gold coin to pay for adventurers to join him. Caelain also managed to convince the treasurer that a good sized donation to the Churches inquisitory branch would be a good idea in order to gain a cleric who could vet the Applicants and allow only those of pure intentions to join him.

With his final bit of coin from his own personal Coffers Caelain has rented out an entire restaurant where he plans to hold his recruitment processes. Finally he sent out an add throughout the entire kingdom a month before the scheduled meeting place the add Reads as follows

“Calling all Brave Adventurers. The Kingdom of Karrakhan has need of your services. an unknown fate has befallen one of its towns and the first prince will be venturing to find out what that date was and if it is possible to save the town. A sum of 5000 gold coins will be paid to each of four adventurers who will join the prince on his first quest. You will receive 500 coins upon successfully being chosen and another 4500 upon successful completion of the mission. Be warned however this quest will not be for the feint of heart and the contract may not be abandoned until completion under penalty of death.”

The messages would be marked with the royal seal and scattered all about the kingdom. Meanwhile the prince fearing his own death managed to actually stop being lazy long enough to train with a sword, though only for a month. The time has finally arrived for his quest to begin and thus he waits in the reserved restaurant,The Salty Croc, staying out of sight he watched as the many adventurers arrived to get the promised gold. Wondering if perhaps some were here for a bit more than the gold…

This will be a semi small group Rp with room for 6 players to join in. There are Two fixed roles, and four free floating roles.

Fixed Roles
(you may choose one of the classes)

Royal Guard Fighter/Ranger/Rogue- A member of the kings private royal guard, likely a newer member who the prince is unfamiliar with. This guard will be sent by the king to join the Group and ensure none try to assassinate the prince. This character could best be compared to an assassin or rather a counter assassin. all other aspects of the role can be made as you see fit.

Inquisition Cleric/Paladin/Monk- A member sent by the church on the princes request, they are there to both protect the prince, and in the event that he or any of the other should perish to give them proper funeral rites. Their loyalties lie with their chosen deity (must be a good deity) rather than the crown.

Free Roles

The four Adventurers- Of the Many adventurers to answer the call only four will be chosen. These four adventurers may be any class or species they see fit.

Additional tidbits.
The general idea of this is a group of low level adventurers. if this were a DND group the levels would range from 1-3 with the prince being a level 1, the Adventurers being level 2, and the Fixed roles being Level 3. For those who don’t play DND that means the strongest members of the group would still be hard pressed to face a bear one on one in melee combat. So our characters will have to try and work together and team up to face foes though we will inevitably grow stronger. The last and perhaps most pressing part of the quest…The prince kinda just announced he would be wandering with a group that will have at least 2000 gold on them, which is basically a bandits wet dream so be ready for a rough adventure

I thought on this I kind of want to be a rouge even though I haven't played this game in a very long time
Excellent. there will be ample differences from regular dnd and this but it will follow the same general theme so a rogue will be a heavy utility character and likely will make the group very rich if done properly.

Currency and Economy

Though many kingdoms exist in the nations the economic system seems the same for all with the only differences in currency being the sigils on the coins. The coins are made of four metal types and split up into another four weight types. Copper, Silver, Gold, and Platinum are the four metals with the weights being 1/10th Oz being a coin, 1oz being a Cast, 10oz being a Biscuit, and 100oz being a bar. Coins are the most common size for transactions with the larger weighs being mainly for transport and signs of wealth. The conversion on weight to value allows for easy scaling upwards as value increases meaning someone carrying 5000 dollars worth of coin would effectively be able to do so with a mere five coins. The conversion is as follows.

1 copper Coin = 1 Coin.
1 silver Coin =10 Copper Coin.
1 Gold Coin = 10 silver Coin.
1 Platinum Coin= 10 Gold Coin.

So just to clarify that means the 5000 gold coin reward from the boils down to Half a million Dollars if converted to our world, which is enough to buy a chunk of land, build a nice sized house on it, and still have enough left over to live off of for the rest of your life. And needless to say a platinum anything is worth keeping

Are you thinking of using the standard D&D polytheism here?

I'd be interested in the Inquisition position. Probably a paladin of some sort.
I'm guessing I'll need to write up the God they serve. I've never thought that the usual D&D Gods are the sorts to have in Inquisition.
In this inquisitors aren’t quite as scary as the real life inquisition. They are basically the militarized arm of the church, so paladins, clerics, monks and the like would all fall under the blanket term of inquisitors if their mission was sanctioned by the church. Being a sanctioned inquisitor allows you to basically loot any church for whatever you need within reason (no wonton clearing out of everything.)

Hi, quick question: Do you have to already have experience playing DnD to join this roleplay? My knowledge about it is fairly limited.

Negative the DND reference is just to explain the kinds of creatures and the spell based magical system. The world itself will have its own lore of both dnd and original world building stuff and thus will likely have plenty of room for creative liberty. It’s just to say no one character will be the ultimate baddie busting chad as it is a team story

Neat! I might consider joining in as a bard.
