Important Details
Appearance: Amelia is an attractive woman with long dark brown hair and vibrant green eyes. She is usually seen with a slight smile and dressed in long purple robes with a gold trim. She is relatively tall for a woman standing at 5'9.

Personality:
Strict but fair is a good way to describe Amelia. Being the woman of high standards that she is, she is not one to tolerate mediocrity and holds the students to lofty but attainable expectations. In her personal life, though she is ambitious and driven, she is also prone to scattiness and is not particularly neat. If one happened across her office, they would find it to be haphazard to say the least. A loyal and vibrant person, it is easy to see why she was chosen for Gryffindor house upon meeting her on a less formal level. To younger staff she is warm and affirming and can be very friendly when not in a work setting. She is passionate about magical history almost to the point of obsession and will gladly spend hours on the subject. As well as being an avid historian, Amelia is an accomplished duellist and is not easily bested in a duel. Defence Against the Dark Arts was her second strongest subject in school, hinting at her brave and adventurous nature, and quick reflexes.


Backstory:
Amelia Ravenhurst was born to two half-blood parents (Rena and Archie) in Ikley, Yorkshire. This meant that she grew up with equal exposure to the wizarding and muggle worlds and appreciation for their unique advantages. Her passion for magical history was ignited the year before she started at Hogwarts when her father read her diary entries from the great wizard Merlin.

During her school years, Amelia excelled as a student, earning her most impressive grades in Defence Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration and History of Magic. As well as being known for being a brilliant student, Amelia was also known to be popular and somewhat rebellious. Most of her fellow students were aware of the midnight outings she and her boyfriend would take through the castle grounds and her gift for arranging the best post-quidditch match parties in the common room that would last well into the next morning (to the dismay of McGonagall)!

She had written her first book on Goblin Rebellions by the age of sixteen, being the youngest published historian the wizarding world had ever seen. She has by now written four books on varying topics and is a leading expert in the histories of British, French and American wizarding history.

She and her childhood sweetheart had a daughter Harriet when Amelia was twenty-six, but the relationship broke down after the birth and Amelia has raised her singlehanded ever since. Amelia and her teenage daughter have a rocky relationship, but it is not terrible. Harriet decided to stay in France and continue her magical education at Beauxbatons as she knows nothing else.

Although, Amelia is undoubtedly passionate about the history of magic, she felt compelled to teach a more practical subject. So whilst writing her book on French magical history and living there, she took a job as the transfiguration teacher at Beauxbatons and taught there for several years before the call of her homeland drew her back to the familiar surroundings of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Appearance:
At a height of 6' 2", he's a really friendly man, usually seen walking the hallways wearing comfy Muggle clothing with an open dark brown, slightly worn out cloak,
2 cats, a smile, and a bag of freshly baked cookies.

Personality:
He is very friendly and polite to everyone, sometimes nodding, smiling, and waving at the students and staff in the halls. He is, however, much louder and
affectionate around familiar people. He is much neater and meticulous than one might expect. His office
is filled with colorful chairs and comfy furniture/decorations, contrasted by neatly organized paperwork. He loves giving
people food and can be frequently found int he kitchen making food. (He is well-liked and very familiar with the house elves in the kitchen).

Backstory:
Glyn has been fortunate to have a childhood filled with happiness and childish discoveries. Since both of his parents were born into wizarding families,
he was raised primarily with the goal of going to Hogwarts and learning about wizarding culture.
When he was 7, his parents took him to his first Muggle amusement park, sparking his interest in the more mundane side of things.

At Hogwarts, he got permission from his parents to travel in the Muggle world, starting as a third year. He would do so every
chance he got from then on. He also quickly entered the Charms' professor's good books and was eventually allowed to study Charms ahead of the normal pace.
He became one of the youngest to take his Charms OWL/NEWT. As a result, he excelled in Charms, picking Transfiguration, Apparition, and other related
skills up quickly. His worst scores were in Defense Against the Dark Arts and Arithmancy. However, that didn't stop him from enjoying dueling
and testing spells in his free time.

After graduating from Hogwarts near the top of his class (curse DADA and Arithmancy), he decided to go work with Muggles to learn more about their culture. This is where he developed his love for tea and Muggle humor.

He decided to go back to Hogwarts when he heard Filch was retiring. He took this as an opportunity to re-familiarize himself with the grounds and know more people.

Fun Fact:
Once when he was drunk, he decided he wanted to find out what his cat Nowhere would look like with black fur. So, like a genius, he dumped an entire jar of
black ink on the poor cat, earning him laughter from his roommates and an armful of angry, ink-splattered cat. While trying to get rid of the ink,
he accidentally put a faulty Invisibility Charm on its collar. To this day, his cat still occasionally turns invisible. Nowhere is smart enough to
take advantage of this. This is also the origin of his nickname "Inky."

Important Details
Appearance: Orval is a very tall man, coming in at 6 ft. 4 in. He is also very thin, as he only weighs 130 lbs. His long limbs make him clumsy at the best of times, and he frequently has small cuts or bruises where he somehow hurt himself. He has short and often messy brown hair, and blue-green eyes. Orval often wears a formal blue jacket and trousers while teaching. Never really concerned with fashion, he simply wears what he likes, which can make for some strange outfits considering his fondness for plaid and paisley.

Personality: Excitable, optimistic, and a bit naïve, Orval is a slightly awkward ball of sunshine to be around. Always excited to share his knowledge with his students, he is a very passionate, if somewhat distractible teacher. He earnestly believes in the best of others, even if they cannot see it themselves and this makes him a very patient professor. Orval is very much a homebody, preferring to read a book or drink coffee rather than head off on an adventure. Stepping outside of his comfort zone makes him extremely nervous and unsure of himself. But despite his seemingly soft nature, Orval does hold firm his own set of ethics. He fervently believes in the equality of Muggles and Wizards and has very little patience for those who would suggest otherwise.

Backstory: Orval was born to a wizard father and muggle mother. Both Edwin and Olivia’s families wanted nothing to do with the two after their marriage. The only extended family Orval ever had contact with was his father’s brother, Basil Barrows. Despite being exiled from their respective families, Edwin and Olivia managed to give Orval and his younger brother Jericho a relatively normal, happy childhood.

When Orval got his letter inviting him to attend Hogwarts, there was much celebration at the Barrows’ household. Orval was a good student, despite how often he would daydream in class instead of paying attention. He adored books (mostly fiction) and would often read during lunch, before bed, or even during his classes when he was bored. Despite being known as the weird bookworm, Orval made friends easily in Hufflepuff, mostly owing to his cheerful demeanor.

When the time came for Jericho to get his letter however, the whole family was dismayed when none came. Jericho, unlike his older brother, did not seem to have any magical abilities, thus effectively rendering him a Squib. Orval comforted his younger brother and told him that he didn’t care if he could use magic or not, he loved him all the same. From then on, the two continued to have a very close relationship, despite Orval being gone for so much of the year.

Going back to school however, Orval noticed a lot of the blood purity discrimination that he hadn’t really paid much attention to before. The thought of his brother and mother being treated like less than dirt made his blood boil, and from then on, Orval dedicated himself to Muggles Studies, wanting to further equality between both Wizards and Muggles. This eventually led him towards his current occupation as Professor of Muggle Studies at Hogwarts.​

She isn't particularly close to her cousins, but she's been known to help them out as needed. Her grandparents on her father's side want nothing to do with her or the other members of her family, but her grandparents on her moms' sides are more accommodating.

Important Details
Appearance: Seraphina stands at 5 foot 9, a height she's pleased with. She always walks facing straight ahead with her back straight and her shoulders back. Phina is a very fashion forward individual, typically wearing formal office like attire. She is very proud of her former house, as showcased by her tendency to sport snake themed accessories or green/silver accented attire. She tries to keep the main colors black, though. She has naturally black hair that she regularly "dyes" silver. Her expression can be a bit severe most of the time, but it's only but so offputting.

Personality: You wouldn't guess it by looking at her, because she goes out of her way to portray herself as the ice queen she was often labeled as, but she is ridiculous. She's willing to do almost anything for her aesthetic. Phina is a lot more dramatic than people would assume, and she tends to be pretty sarcastic a good bit of the time. Outwardly she always seems to be in control of her emotions, very relaxed. She is not a particularly impulsive person. Phina likes to have a plan. She isn't above manipulation to get what she wants, but it is very rarely with any malice. She hides it well, but she's actually a pretty kind and caring person. A bit of a softie. Phina is a fairly confident person.
Seraphina does her best to be cool as a cucumber. Her anger is hard earned, and difficult to diffuse.
In the classroom she tends to push her students, but ultimately tries to be understanding with them so that if they actually need her help they won't be afraid to ask for it.

Backstory:
Seraphina was raised by her three parents, which she was unaware was unusual until she got older. Her "Mama Eve" is a muggle-born witch, while "Mama Irie" and her father are both purebloods. As all three of them are her parents, she actually has no idea which of her mothers carried her. It is of little consequence to her. She grew up with her cousins, (who she has since grown apart from) and for a long time (aside from her siblings,) they were her only friends.
Being the eldest of 3 children, Seraphina was held to a higher standard than the other two. She was also, of course, expected to try and keep the other two in line. She certainly wasn't a neglected child, she just had a lot more responsibilities than her brother and sister. Appearances to keep up.
Her parents were always proud of her achievements, and had high hopes for her.
Growing up with two squabbling siblings, she had to pay special attention to counter-curses, counter-jinx's...etc. It inevitably led to her trying extra hard in defense against the dark arts, and dabbling in the dark arts a bit.
In school, Seraphina made a rather intimidating figure. She was known as a bit of an ice queen. Because of her frosty personality, she didn't have many friends. There were plenty of people who disliked her, but it wasn't long until they found her to be a capable duelist. Soon enough, other Slytherins were trying to smooze up to her, but she never really warmed up to any of them. She wasn't above using them for favors though.
For the most part she devoted her time to her studies, and trying to understand the secrets of Hogwarts.
Her best subjects being Defense Against the Dark Arts, (obviously), charms, and potions. She had an interest in history of magic, but never really had the head for memorizing the facts. Her worst subject by far was transfiguration. (And divination)
After she graduated, she worked at the ministry as an Auror for several years. It wasn't as exciting as she'd always hoped it would be, but it wasn't particularly boring either. It just wasn't something she was passionate about. Her and the aurors weren't particularly close or alike, so ultimately she had no real reason to stay with the ministry.
The moment that she heard there was a position open at Hogwarts, she was looking into applying. The fact that it was for DADA was just a bonus.
