Kneeling before this incredible situation, as Belluam bravely conducted her battle against a far more superior adversary the Commander of the Nohrad Swords was left helpless barely holding onto himself by support of his sword. " Lieutenant, it is you duty to get everyone to safety. That is an order." he said as Turian  ( @Helral )  was still present. Anyone remaining within the fortress was certain to perish at the hands of this ungodly woman. He knew Belluam ( @MsPolite ) would not hold her off for long. As he was trained by a great Mentor of the Way, he began channeling the spirit energy from his surroundings into himself and converting it into his own force to use. Although the process was slow and only enough to enable him to physically engage the enemy, it in no way would be enough to repel the seemingly all powerful Andromeda ( @Andromeda Arc ) . Antarah seized his opportunity as they were trading blows to intercept a strike Andromeda had intended for Belluam's side. He blocked it with his sword infused with what little spirit energy remained. " One more time! " he yelled to Belluam, which signaled to her to attack in the same manner that they both did up on the Tower.

When the young girl introduced herself, Sarah went through her memory to see whether she recognized her being assigned to a Field Captain. While the Commanders were the only ones to appoint and promote mercenary guilders to other positions, the Lieutenant was in charge of assigning individuals to those appointments, so when she did not recall the name Jerusala Beenie ( @Ultraman )  , she took it that this person was recently welcomed to the Fortress. As she had pointed out, they had no time for chit chat as they needed to prevent these skeletons from reaching the more populated areas in the fortress.

" If you are not assigned to a Captain, then you're in my team Jerusala. " she said as she proudly stood among the other colleagues having not even an inkling of fear or any emotion whatsoever for what she considered as mere garbage. " We draw a line here, understand? " she said to everyone.  Taking her staff  she pointed it to the nearest skeleton and it was visibly clear that lightning elemental spirit energy was building up in the tip. She widened her view to include other skeletons that were close by and then released her powerful jolt. As it hit the first one shattering its structure to dust, it continued without letup towards a target close to it and so on and so forth until 9 skeletons were taken down in what seemed to be a flash. The jolt of lightning flashing brilliantly as it curved around a large area where it had struck the enemies.

"You fool! I said to engage the foes near the Lake and West Wall! You are no match for her!", Antarah yelled at him. Turians mind was racing to keep up with what was going on. This woman, easily dispatched his defensive sphere's he put up as if they didn't exist. Even while turning her attention on Turian, Belluam took this moment to attack the woman. But even so she found time to throw three fireball-horses thingies at Turian, while fighting off Belluam's attacks. "First things first", Turian thought to himself as he threw up a wall of water to block these fireballs. Hoping it would be enough. "Lieutenant, it is you duty to get everyone to safety. That is an order.", Antarah must be really pressed as he mistakenly addressed Turian as a lieutenant, but that doesn't matter. As the wall of water exploded when it absorbed the three fireballs, Turian took off towards the west wall to see what would be going on over there. Just being in this fight for a few moments drained all Turian's SE reserves, he couldn't assist the commander even though he wanted to.

Though Archus had been previously absent from the fight, a small crowd of skeletons could be seen by the lake congregating around something. They shuffled and shoved for positioning closer to the center, when suddenly an iron clad Paladin burst through the chaos. "Die unholy filth!" Archus's voice echoed off of the fort walls all the way across the Swords' base. He was woken from his slumber by all of the fighting and moved quickly to equip himself for combat once he saw the diabolical creatures lurking outside. Many of his comrades were already engaged with the skeleton horde and Archus rushed in head first to help out in the melee. He was in the mix with about a dozen of his fellow mercenaries that were caught outside of the defensive formation. There was no time for strategy or hesitation, the Paladin knew it was the time to dive into the action with caution to the wind. Archus also wasn't there when Sarah Millarium had given her orders (not that he would have recognized her authority anyway). He raised his shield as his strong legs propelled him forward, forcing himself through the dense skeleton crowd until he was in the company of his few mortal allies. There were so many enemies around the Paladin that he hardly had to think about where to throw his strikes. Twisting his torso with strength, he slammed the edge of his shield into a skeleton's head, shattering it on impact and crumbling the poor bag of bones instantly. Just before a spooky and quite scary skeleton could take advantage of a shank attack from the rear, a mercenary ally bludgeoned it in the chest and caused it to stagger though it wan't quite vanquished.

The skeletons reorganized and recovered from Archus's energetic entrance and moved to silence the stalwart and rather holy knight. His presence agitated them greatly and they could practically smell the righteousness on him. If they had noses, anyway. A duo of the creatures attempted to put Archus out of commission, but the defense expert only hard to react in time to block their strikes, as their weak skeletal blows could do nothing to pierce a steel shield reinforced by the Keepers themselves.

The artificial spirit lightning vanished after eradicating several skeletons, and the lightning itself struck a chord in Jerusala, as she never witnessed such a destructive manifestation of spirit energy. In fact, a little yelp absconded from her oral orifice. Jerusala’s opinion of Miliarium drastically changed, since Jerusala realized the power difference between her and the woman. This distraction allowed the skeleton to attempt to slam its cudgel straight at Jerusala’s fragile skull. The left weakened femur skeleton had ample time to lay such a blow upon Jerusala, since Jerusala’s stamina was fairly depleted due to her prior bolt. Jerusala watched helplessly, while the skeleton brought down its harmful cudgel, yet by chance the skeleton tripped due to its weakened left femur bone. Ergo, the skeleton missed its blow upon Jerusala, and the skeleton fell to the ground from its imbalance.

Jerusala breathed a sigh of relief, when the skeleton laid on the floor of the marketplace. For a second, she thought her head would crack open, but her prior actions prevented the outcome. While the skeleton remained on the ground, it flailed in an attempt to move itself back up on a stable plane. Fortunately, Jerusala appropriated her advantage of the situation by crushing the skeleton’s skull with both of her maces. Both blunt entities cracked the skeleton’s skull hard, as a loud crunch emitted from the skeleton’s battered and beaten form. That single battle tired her out, and she stumbled onto the stone pavement with her knees planted on the ground, and her twin maces at her side. Now, sitting with her knees, she allowed herself to recover, but the carnage around her wouldn’t let her rest. She couldn’t rest here forever, and so she slowly picked herself up off the ground.

......haha got more than you bargained for you pathetic underling...... she thought when one of antarah's men tried to block her attack. she could not tell, but it took quite a toll on the young man to defend against her flurry of fire, so much that he had to retreat. she turned her attention back to the beastie of a woman who dared challenge her might all by herself. .... the arrogance. you think you can fight me bitch. think again.... she planed to let belluam think she gained an upper hand and then go in for the kill. as belluam used her weapons to strike hard at her, andromeda did not do any attacks or counter just defend even to the point where she started to slowly back away when defending to make it look like she was in a pinch. she was going to flater slightly and when she came close enough would release a fiery inferno that would make volcanoes look like nothing. just then antarah came out of nowhere in mid attack and he combined with belluams power. andromeda was not ready for it and did not defend in time which sent her flying from the blast mixture.

regaining her control she did not land on her feet cause she could just float. she felt pain. it surprised her a little but then it turned into anger. she used her hand and felt small scorch marks on her face leftside and a few in the shoulder area. the whole time she was very cheerful or amused in a maniacal way, but now she was just plain vexed and it showed on her face. " ...damn you..... curse you to damnation! " she was so concentrated on her scorched blemishes she didnt bother attacking yet.

Belluam stared at the moon lit woman in shock. But her shock receded to amusement as Belluam let out a might bellow and laughed heavy, demeaning chuckles. "Oh by the gods! You are hysterical. A woman grown who was born to fight can't take a few damned hits?!" Belluam again heaved in laughter slapping her knee with the flat of her sword. "Its as if you were a young whelp. Now, Little girl, shall I give ya a good beatin like naughty girls should? And then bring a bottle of warm milk to sooth your pain? Well you damned dirty Bitch!" Belluam then rushed over and slapped her side ways the kneed her in the face all the while chuckling. Belluam suddenly began to let her guard down as this whelp seemed to tiny to her. Like Belluam could crush her with a tight squeeze.

Belluam continued to smile widely as her sadistic urges began to protrude into reality. Belluam took her sword and held it towards Andromeda ready to impale her skull. "Now lil' girl, should I punish you or Kill you like a woman?" The heat of the sword was getting hotter and could be felt as it was just an inch away from her face. Belluam chest was getting tight as she was conflicted with herself. On one hand, she so desperately wanted to kill her now... But on the other she wanted to cause her pain. Belluam also noticed something else. Everything Belluam feared about this woman, and everything about Andromeda that unhinged Belluam, was gone. Belluam hated this woman yes, but to a degree Bell always respects a powerful person. But after seeing this  girl succumb to a Tampa tantrum like a child, all that respect and fear was gone. Belluam felt like she was in control again, and felt better, better than she had in a long time. Belluam Felt powerful

"I don't have time for this!" She said pulling her Katanas out from their sheaths. The blades begun to glew and with in a blink she had cut her way through three of the skeletons (Arte 1) leaving two to block her path. One of the skeletons ran at her, swinging its sword down at her. she swiftly dodged it while her blade blocked the second skeletons attack. Belluam was now getting physical with Andromeda which was a bad idea. at one point she did stop a sword with her bare hands against antarah so using moves like that would do almost nothing except annoy her more. she got tossed around a bit but her focus never diverted from the fact her face was singe cause her face was her pride and joy the youthfulness look even after centuries. just as a flaming sword was gonna impale her a bright light barrier formed around her and expanded pushing belluam away some meters further. " you think you are my equal?! you are nothing but dust and I am a god! " she yelled at them. " You are NO ONE! "

her eyes were completely glowing crimson, her hair was glowing white as well as she slowly got up. the sky was all clear but you would think a lightning storm was near them as bolts of lightning were shooting from her body. the ground around her became broken up and started to floating from the energy pressure of hers. " its time to smite this region off the face of elegos. " she told them, meaning the entire castle area would be nothing but burnt ground when she was through with them. the energy was so strong, it would send out spiritual shockwaves that even non-magic wielders would notice. the energy shield was lifting into the sky preparing to turn everything into ash.

...... what is this.....  it...cant be....... not now!!!!............. the energy buildup was slowling down and getting weaker. " damn you antarah..... DAMN YOU~! " she cursed at him because she could feel and see that the sun was rising just over the horizon. during the day her power was only 1/4 of what she had during the normal nights. but because she used her magic to summon a giant antarnea and call forth an army of undead she was now tapped of the energy to blow up the entire region.  she gained her senses and powered down. " heh...hahaha well played antarah waiting for the sun to rise. I played with you a little too long i guess... no longer do i have the power to destroy this place. it is my loss again....but i do have enough for one last gift. " she pointed to him and shot a burst of lightning straight at his chest. " i shall return for my revenge so make sure to keep him alive for me wont you doggy? " she said to belluam and she started to disappear into the sky. but even though she was gone, the monster antarnae and army of skeletons were not stopped just yet.

Title: Renegade Reflection

Location: Aboard the Kensington Coastliner, Unknown Region

Date: Eclasen 10th 997 C.Y.A.D. Afternoon

" Our eyes can be deceived, our reflection can be distorted, but a true companion is a reminder of who we are. "

- The Savior of Unification

Excerpt from the Chronicles of the Savior 500 C.Y.A.D.

TIMESHIFT in effect

Andromeda the Mistress of the Starless Sky. When word about the attack reached the Kingdoms Capital, many were not sure what to make of it. Nearly a week of research into the name revealed an obscure passage from a printed journal more than 100 years ago about a survivor of a town that was completely ' ripped off the face of the land ' by ' a woman bathed in moonlight '. Skeptics abounded with such a notion. After she had left the Norhad Swords Headquarters, the band of warriors were successful in slaying the massive Antarnae Beast and the small army of undead that had risen from the Waters of the Lake. With all the destruction that she had caused, the Fortress was left in dire need of repair. Unfortunately, the Leader, who had been struck by the Assailant Andromeda, had been in a coma for several days and did not show any signs of improvement. The Kingdom Affairs Office, therefore had appointed Lieutenant Miliarium temporary Commander ahead of Antarah's counterpart, Belluam Sansuis ( @MsPolite ).

It was obviously a political move considering the Lieutenant would be much more cooperative concerning the affairs of the state. With this decision however, the new Commander still needed the help of the Vice-Commander. Antarah was usually the one to assign the Field Captains their missions. However, Sarah would not have that luxury as she would stay behind and oversee the repairs of the Fortress and then some. This responsibility now fell upon Vice Commander Sansuis, whom most of the Captains were loyal and familiar with. Reparations were to be top priority, but funds needed to be obtained primarily from missions. And much to the frustration of the new Commander, the officers Donar (@Jack Rakan ) and Turian ( @Helral ) were to take a leave of absence. With very few to take the lead, the rebuilding process would take weeks.

On the second day of the month of Eclasen, Commander Genzah regained consciousness. Although he could barely open his eyes, he could hear people around him and respond by speech. He was still not fit to return to command and accepted the arrangements that had been made in his absence. A few days later, a letter with the Seal of the K.A.O. presented itself. Only the higher ups had access to the knowledge contained within. The words " A possible joint military strike with the Norhad Swords " may have alarmed the 3 Commanders. Preparations were soon underway. More than half the field operatives were diverted to this effort, and the rest would continue with daily missions as usual. That was the case for a group of mercenaries that VC Belluam would be taking. The Kensington Coastliner was the first airship repaired and taken out by her captain for this mission. The ones to accompany the commander, were Kairi, Leira, Jerusala, Archus and Grifyn.

Donar
Location: Milestone Fort, Norhad Swords Headquarters
Date: Feusen 16th-19th(flashback)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Donar proceeded to go towards the front gate to fight the massive beast, Fortunately he was able to assist in bringing the monster down, someone brought the final strike and the monster was killed.
The Undead were dispatched and the figure behind this attack, Andromeda, Mistress of the Starless Sky, retreated at the crack of dawn. Which was good since she might have ended up destroying everything.

In spite of that, the remaining day the Nohrad swords had begun cleaning the mess and repairing the damaged areas. Donar was shocked to hear Commander Antarah was in a coma and might not wake up. The K.A.O took this as a chance to quickly put their liaison Lieutenant Sarah as Acting Commander putting her in charge of the mercenary organization
Donar didn't react as badly as Vice-Commander Bellium, but what could they do? the Commander was out of the game for now which taking control of the N.S was perfect.

Donar expected to be busy for a while longer, that is until the evening of the 18th an unexpected visitor showed up. A Guard servant from the Sirius family Emily, had shown up with two others informing him of a directive from the Master. Bringing the two to his Office/Room it was explained to him that the master sent a letter to Commander Antarah a while back asking for Donar's return. He remembered that Antarah didn't know he was still working for Sirius. he only mentioned leaving from where he was to join the N.S.

But from what Guard Emily said is that his mission here was done as the K.A.O has now have themselves more involved than before and it could be dangerous. With that, Donar simply complied, asked to help him with his things, and he left to inform the Acting Commander Sarah that something came up back at his home and requested leave of absence. She was already dealing with VC Turian leaving, but despite her frustration she allowed it.

Donar and the group of three left very early the next morning. As time was in haste, he had no time to really tell anyone that he was leaving. They left for the land that was under Pharos Sirius' Jurisdiction. Returning to the small town with the castle that overlooked the lake.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

End flashback

Date: Eclasen 10th 997 C.Y.A.D. Afternoon

Castle in unknown Region, hallways.

-------------------------------------------

Donar was walking down the halls of the Sirius Castle, it had been a while since he left the Nohard swords with basically no word of his departure said to his allies. Or were they?

Upon returning to the Sirius estate he was debriefed of his time in the Nohrad swords up to the attack early morning of the Mistress of the Starless Sky. The word of the K.A.O taking over the N.S among other things. Lord Pharos Sirius, the Head of this house asked about the state of it's Commander, his face seemingly not reacting to the Commanders predicament.

"Thats what happens when you fight against a legend. I'll send my Condolences to the Acting Commander." Is what he said.

"What is to be done? the K.A.O has appointed one of theirs as the Acting Commander." Donar asked. "Nothing for now, as explained before, there seem to be people who are attacking our interests. A month ago there was an attack on our people who were relocating refugees from the war front... sadly most of them were taken by the bandits, I can only assume Slave traders are behind this." Pharos said.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Donar then informed him that there is a possibility that there are slave traders within the house, so the search was narrowed down. He was then informed to resume his Guard Duties here while they tried to learn who kept taking the refugees. Seems the slave trade was just getting larger now.

"It's been a couple weeks, the search bears no fruit yet... " he search for the supposed traitor was slow. But there was some hope.
Donar still wore his armor from the N.S, but his sword was different. This one had the emblem of the Sirius family on it. Guess the only other thing about his wardrobe that changed was the cape he wore bearing the Sirius insignia.

He entered the Massive Courtyard, off in the eats corner of it was where he trained his swordsmanship when he first arrived.
Standing next to center, a voice called out to him, "From the looks of it, it doesn't seem like the mercenaries attitude and impudence have rubbed off you."

Donar turned and one of the Main officials of the Sirius house was walking up to him. "Only a fool would take after such a barbaric group of people wouldn't you say Guardsmen Donar?" he asked.

"The mission to infiltrate the Nohard swords was from Master, Lord Argus . If were it my choice, I would not have ventured into that hole." he replied.

"Ahahaha!! Well said." Lord Argus said. "Honestly i dont know what Lord Sirius is thinking, he should have just killed them all."
"The Master isn't so rash as to attempt that, Me being there was only to see if they were a threat to House Sirius." Donar told him.

"And are they?" Argus asked. Donar thought for a moment, "No. Even if they were, they are no match for the House Sirius."

"You would kill those who were your comrades?" he asked.
"Anyone who poses a Threat to Master Sirius will be dealt with." he said looking at Argus, "Thus is my duty to House Sirius." Lord Argus seemed to shiver at Donar's glare. but shook it off. "Well, I would like to discuss this with you another time, but I am late for my appointment with his Lordship. Farewell Guardsman." he bowed slightly and took his leave,
Donar sighed sitting down on a bench. "Is it rough being back after so many months?" Donar turned to see the Guard-servant Emily nearby. "He's been trying to get Lord Sirius to see things his way since you were gone."

"He simply has a more extreme view of how to deal with the mercenaries, it has always been like that." he said.

"Guess so, you'd have to agree with him or else he wont leave you alone..." she said standing by, "So, did they find out anything about your mission, or your other secrets?"
He shook his head, "I did tell some i came from here, but i was able to put my allegiances aside to work easier."

"What about that other thing?" She asked.
Donar stared at her, "They never asked, i never told." he replied. "Not that you would have either would you?"
"No, such issues have no place on the battlefield." he said standing up and walking back into the hallways.
"Would have entertaining though no?" She said following him.

"Maybe." He didn't think he would kill those in the N.S, but sometimes you have to say what they want to hear, as Master Pharos would say.

Ella was different. Over the past few days she had ate, breathed and lived with the secretive elfin race. Though the time they had together was limited, she had acquired plenty valuable assets - her knowledge had expanded, and the wonders of the race never ceased to baffle and amaze her. Each day was well-spent, and time flew by as she went to the village school to learn, spent lost time with her parents, trained with the Elfin warriors and worked as an apprentice of the Elf mages. She could have spent her life there forever, but then news came from the Norhad Swords Headquarters about a devastating attack. Ella had not forgotten her fellow mercenaries and friends there, and so she decided to venture out to the world again, this time equipped with bits of wisdom from the Ancient Ones, new mastery over her powers and also better combat skills. The ship rocked slightly as it continued to venture forward, but that did not affect Ella by the least. She was completely submerged in the chore of cleaning her trusty blade, the Pursuer. The relatively short dagger gleamed in her careful hands and she polished it until it was spotless, without a speck of dust on its smooth surface. She could see her own reflection on the metal as she wondered how long it had been since she had brought this weapon into battle.

Ah, yes, she remembered now - it was right before she learned of the Elves’ existence and her own heritage, when she saw a boy being terrorized by a group of frenzied Devil Eels. Turns out the child was an Elfin youngling, and that had led to her discovery. The elf boy was called Calanon, and had soon become her best friend. Ella could still feel the warmth of his last embrace before she left the village and started her long journey back to Milestone Fort.

Ella sheathed her blade and tied it back around her waist, her hand then instinctively touching her wrist. She was immediately reassured by the burning heat of the Arbitrators Seal. Cal had gotten the mysterious symbol emblazoned onto her skin, like a light red tattoo of some kind. But they both knew it did more than that. With it, Ella would forever be immune to fire yet unable to cast fire spells ever again. To create this spell, Calanon had sacrificed much of his spirit energy. It was his parting gift to her, and even now the emblem seared into her flesh, reminding her of the immense power it kept confined inside.

Ella let go of her wrist when the temperature became unbearable, and the seal glowed red hot before fading back to normal. Briefly, she considered what would happen when the seal was actually put into use. But for now, she glanced around the ship, searching for familiar faces in the cluster of mercenaries.

Flashback

The fight to retake Fort Milestone lasted just over an hour, but the intense fighting and supernatural nature of the opponents made it seem to Archus like they'd been on a campaign. It took a massive effort and timely coordination for the Swords to finish off the Antarnae and its skeletal allies. The Paladin had been totally unaware of the smaller fight between Commanders Belluam and Antarah with the one called Andromeda, someone Archus had never heard of before. Though he knew her power must have been monumental to take on both of the commanders at the same time. The details were foggy about the fight and its results, but Archus kept his concerns to himself for the time being. It was only when things continued to operate without Commander Genzah that the holy guardian began to suspect some corrupting force acting on the NS from outside the organization.

In a field full of bones and blood, a metal covered boot crushes the skull of a recently deceased skeleton. A cry of agony, of emotion, and victory is released from the pious soul of Archus Barriye. In front of him is Sarah Miliarium, a woman who he knew very little about, before and after the fight. She was trying to organize the mercenaries when Archus burst onto the scene and rallied a charge into the skeletal horde. The resulting forward push trampled the reanimated bones underfoot and turned the group's attention to the looming beast that had emerged from seemingly nowhere. The Paladin now breathed heavy, grateful breaths. Another unlikely encounter survived under his belt, he was now subject to the will of the snubbed officer, whose commands he disobeyed when leading the charge against the undead. Upon hearing her initial chastising of his behavior, this is how he responds, his voice ragged and tired.

"Lieutenant.. Miliarium. It was never my intention to spark a rebellious will among the Swords. When I arrived on the scene men were trapped in the encircling horde of undead. I drew the attention of many oncoming ghouls and disrupted their formation, I saw a chance to press them, so I did. If I were there from the start to hear your command, I likely would have obeyed and assisted in forming a defensive line.

The veteran Paladin took a moment to breathe and look down at the Lieutenant (whom he literally had to look down at due to their height difference). She was young and groomed, he was middle aged and weathered by experience. She earned no respect from him. "Besides.." He continued, with quite a few mercs watching idly, "Genzah is my commander, I follow his command. I am not a common mercenary like the lot found around here, I signed no contract to serve this organization, I follow Genzah alone." @Shin Positron Laser

Archus felt a growing unease about his current situation entangled with the Norhad Swords. He was witnessing a change from the Swords he knew years before when he initially worked under Antarah. Before they seemed so independent of the political structures of the realm, they were driven by the vision Antarah had for them. Now he saw a lack of character in the mercenaries under Antarah, and there were outside political forces influencing the organization to alter their objectives, he could feel it. The amount of uncertainty he faced troubled him greatly. He didn't know these new Swords. The reliable, principled, driven Swords that once knew him as the Tower were either all gone or reduced to guard positions due to injury. Most of the faces here were either new blood looking to earn some coin for dirty work, or veterans running away from something in their past.

The holy guardian stood on the main deck of the Kensington, staring out into the clouds as he grappled internally with one question that kept surfacing in his mind. 'Am I meant to be here?' He thought to himself. Somehow he felt out of place, out of sync with the Swords this time around. He knew he needed to speak with the Commander before making any decisions, but that was something that needed to wait until Antarah was properly recovered. For now, Archus thought, he needed to focus on surviving another mission and keeping as many allies alive as he could.

Flashback

The young Lieutenant had wiped out more skeletons by her lonesome than all the men in her group had. But now she was running on fumes and had to rely more heavily on physical combat. However she knew that taxing ones spirit energy would also limit and even hinder ones physical capabilities. She and Jerusala were back to back trying to destroy the remaining wave. It was then that the Paladin known as Archus Barriye took the initiative rallying the men and finishing off the last of their assailants. He came to give her something that resembled both an apology and an explanation. She did not really care for the reasons, because the end was positive, a trait found in the logical mind of the Kingdoms greatest tactician, win no matter the cost. In this case it was a direct violation of standing orders regarding the group effort. " I find your lack of adherence to orders was justified by the end result. Therefore, the matter is settled."

She knew nothing of this man's personal life, only of the records she received from the Kingdom Affairs Office. Given the title of Paladin, he was from Adanaque, the Kingdom at the forefront of the Blood Wars. Through the Church of the Holy land Alliance, a Paladin is allowed safe entry into any Northern Kingdom, even that of Lanark, though at much greater risk than anywhere else. Although the presence of the Alliance Church was not as prominent in Welwyn, Paladins were still welcome, though she thought most would be engaged in the War effort. To find him so far away from his home kingdom was somewhat of a surprise. She wondered what could possibly keep him tied to this organization. Her answer was found in the words he spoke next. She was no stranger to discrimination from men. But unlike her, Antarah Genzah supposedly earned his respect, another curiosity to her. Both men were from different continents, backgrounds and even religions, yet, somehow, Antarah attracts followers from all walks of life. The reasons escaped the higher ups of the Kingdom, however her keen perception saw the truth.

" You believe in the man but find his cause unworthy?" she inquired. " You are far better than I, for I have doubts about the Man as well as his inconceivable cause, but I still follow my orders. "

The Paladin is indifferent to her initial response. His justification was a sort of habit, one grown into him from his days training in religious academy. Truthfully the Paladin cares very little what the Lieutenant's opinion of his actions is. It is not until her second comment that he views her in a different light. Now the grizzled, armored vet looks at her with less obliviousness, he attempts to see her heart. A young woman, talented, but jaded, molded by her political environment. He sees himself when he was that age, he reflects on how foolish he was, how headstrong and rash. Internally he chastises himself for his dismissive attitude, he offers her advice that has served him,

"Not better, Lieutenant, older. When you get to be my age perhaps you will come to the same conclusions I have. People are all that matter on Elegos. Kingdoms, military orders, religious groups, they're all just institutions filled with people that have their own ideas, traits, and values. Too often we worry about dogma, find someone in life that you agree with, someone with a vision to be a force for affirmative change, and stick with them.

Just as the Paladin says this, he knows his own belief in it has waned recently. Within him a conflict stirs, a conflict that has yet to find resolution.

A young woman snored heavily within a barrel, her legs pointed out towards the clouds, and her face mushed into the base of the cylindrical storage device. Unfortunately, her rest was stopped short by a loud snort, thus she awoke to a pile of droll on her face, and the sensation of falling, for the barrel fell downwards, when she lost her balance upon awaking. “Waah,” yelled Jerusala, before her feet slammed hard onto the floor base. She crawled out miserably, since she was both tired and in some minor pain. In fact, the sudden pain caused her to utter a few unforgiveable words, but at least her zest wasn’t let up. She questioned her current location, “What the, uh?” Fortunately, no one was around to poke fun of Jerusala, at least from her perspective.

Before heading to the main deck, she stretched a bit in order to loosen her tight muscles that formed as a result of the uncomfortable barrel sleeping. The sky presented a blazing sun, which forced Jerusala to cover her eyes for a few moments. With her vision fully functioning, she scanned the area to find plenty of Norhad Swords scattered on the floorboards of the ship. Then, she remembered why she was currently on this ship. Her first mission, that’s what it was, a mission, but her primary objective remained: Find an old enemy. Luckily, she was intrepid enough to seek out the sociable discourse with other individuals. Hopefully, she would attain the necessary information to locate the thief.

She acquainted herself with a man fully cladded in armor, Archus, by starting with an ice-breaker, “Hey, I don’t know your name, but mine’s Jerusala, and I was wondering,” as she pondered her question, a sudden need to utilize the restroom prompted her to ask a different question, “Where are the restrooms located?” Her stomach grumbled a bit, and she squatted down a bit, “Please, tell me...ugh... now!” This moment caused her to be embarrassed, and a shade of red followed suit on her face.

flashback time: attack on fort

leira had taken some time off from her daily jobs at the norhad swords to care for her aging parents especially her dad who had become ill and was not able to do any farm work. she took her dads place and organized the farming even hiring extra hands to make it go faster. it had been more than a month since she last visited them so it was nice to spend some time their with family and see the old village. One day she was doing delivery rounds to the town area and market and one of the places was townhall. outside she saw the village mayor hanging letters and papers, news for the people about things that were going on that a little town like this would normally not see or hear of. she on one headline that the norhad sword fort had been attacked and half destroyed almost. the news surprised her so much she dropped her things and only picked them up after she read the full article. Right then her thoughts were of cecil the blind, grifyn the injured and ella the innocent and what their fate was in all of it. her hands were tied though cause she had 2 weeks left of work before she could return.

flashback time: 10 days before mission

when she got back the whole mood was different. lots of guards on patrol, lots of property destroyed and a feeling of tiredness probably from the task of rebuilding. Immediately she found out the commander genzah was comatose with no signs of getting better. she was then assigned to help with the farming area and ranches as some of the buildings wre damaged in the chaos of all and some animals injured. when she had free time, which was not a lot, she would try and find out what happened to her friends. Ella seemed to be away during this time too, and the others were safe to say the least. so much man power was needed they even had her do some guard shifts in the ranch area at some nights.

Current time

At least one new face she didnt recognize was onboard, though this person didnt seem any older than her but probably was closer to ella's age. like all the other times, leira had a hard time choosing the right weapon to bring on this mission. In the end she chose some armored gauntlets. the armory person said it can easily block the sharpest of swords and if handled well could parry the pierce of a spear and she got matching boots and leg guards to boot~! she did get a helmet but it made her neck sore so she removed it halfway. she had more protection now and was free with both hands to use her magic. Ella was on the mission this time with her.

........something is different......... its only been a month but........ its like she changed......

but she trusted ella to still be herself. " Hey~! what luck huh getting sent on a mission together. I like your hair down, never knew how long it was. It's pretty, wish i didnt have this boyish short hair, but when it was long, a papaopamus thought it was food and nearly ripped the damn hair out my head." she said.

Archus, who was deep in thought at the time, was immediately disarmed by Jerusala's question. The look of confusion and desperation that grew on his face was likely comical. "Um..well.. I'm not sure what women do, you should ask another woman. Most seas faring vessels use a "head" at the bow of the ship, but that doesn't really apply to airships. Most men just...go off the side of the boat I guess. Rather unfortunate for those below us but... it's not something I think about." Archus looked down into the armored collar of his platemail, thought about the conversation he was having, and he couldn't help but chuckle. It was the first time he had laughed in weeks. Laughter slowly erupted from him, what started out as minor chuckles built into a crescendo of shoulder-shaking bass filled laughter that immersed the main deck like a cloud.

The Paladin wiped a tear from his eye and looked down at Jerusala, feeling rather embarrassed about laughing because of her. "I apologize, I'm not sure where that came from, we are just talking about something rather inappropriate and I just haven't laughed in awhile." He smiled at her and remembered what her question really was. His face turned a shade of pink and he rubbed the back of his head, "I really don't know how to help you.."

"Hey!" A more than familiar voice said. Ella turned, her light hair swishing down her back as she did this. "Oh! Leira, it's good to see you." She said and smiled fondly as her mercenary friend blabbered on, almost oblivious to Ella's reply. Leira doesn't seem to have changed one bit, she thought, the fact surprising her with the comfort it gave her. Though the same couldn't be said for Ella. She knew she was starkly different from when she first arrived at the headquarters, naive and no more than a lost girl looking for adventure and her parents. Now, due to weeks of excessive training, she had gained some muscle and height. Even her eyes had cleared, with a new sort of clarity that enabled her to see further than the mortal land. When Ella gazed into the mirror, she saw an unfamiliar woman with straw white hair and icy blue eyes. The girl with light brown hair and warm sapphire irises was gone. It was a wonder that Leira recognized her, whilst Ella did not even see her approaching.

Ella chuckled softly when Leira finished her short tale and paused to catch her breath. Seizing the opportunity to insert a response, Ella replied, "Fate has brought us together yet again, I suppose. So what happened while I was away? It seems I have quite a lot of catching up to do." She bundled up her long, silky hair with her hands self-consciously. "And do you think I should tie this up? Wouldn't want it to hinder me in a fight."

Location: Sirius Region, Sirius Family Castletown

The group aboard the Kensington Airship have set a course towards they will learn is the location for their mission, is a Town Lorded over by the Sirius Family.

The Sirius House is a Noble Family under the authority one of the main Honor families, the Shroedders. The Sirius House has been known to boast it's own Private Army of militia nearly twice as large as most existing Noble families, leaving it the Shroedder's strong arm, numbering a thousand strong, with various hired mercenary groups that Pharos himself hired, despite his hatred for Mercenaries.

The current head of the Sirius family is Pharos Sirius.

Recently, there have been unconfirmed reports of Sirius hiring thugs and slavers, trafficking all manner of people, even Refugees for the Slave Trade.
A report from a recent Mission for Nohard Swords had indicated their involvement with a recent string of Kidnappings of Refugees, but unfortunately due to certain events the base that the slavers were at, along with any evidence, was cleared out.

The last several weeks however, there had been reports of refugees vanishing more quickly than ever, most of the effort to help them were from Sirius so some have accused them of foul play, which Officials from the Sirius Family denied and explained how Bandits have been raiding their refugee camps. Stating that they will put more Guards in place.

Pharos Sirius has recently called back many of his Agents to help with the effort.

There was a tip to the Nohrad Swords of unknown men having audiences with Pharos but it is unconfirmed if it has anything to do with the Slavery charges they are accused of.

For now, it is the Mission of Nohrad Swords to send two groups to the Sirius Estate, aside from the region Sirius controls, where it's main castle lay, it also has a small town at it's base, which was smaller in scale to the Nohard swords fortress, but not less imposing. To gain information of the Sirius and their doings. The groups will split in two, infiltrate the Castle and find evidence of the Sirius Family investing in Slavery, and arrest Pharos Sirius for crimes against the Kingdom.

This mission must be done with great caution, for if the Nohrad swords end up causing a unneeded ruckus, before confirming these as truths, Sirius may put their foot down on the Nohrad Swords.

But the real trial they will face comes in the appearance of a familiar face in the Sirius Castle.
This familiar face has a secret that they have kept for years, one that might make a certain mercenary in the Nohrad make good on their promise of kicking their ass. Eventually.

Bellium, Kairi, Leira, Jerusala, Archus and Grifyn. have been chosen for the main mission.

"So you going to get rid of this armor?" asked Guardsmen Emily, who was looking at the pile of armor Donar wore during his time in the Nohrad swords.
"Not likely, but I may end up doing some modifications to it to better suit my needs. otherwise I would have just junked it." he responded sitting at a desk. In it's current position, his body was hidden by it from the viewpoint of the armor.

"Didnt they give this stuff to you before you went there?"
"Yes they did, said it fit the Mercenary appearance well, a well dressed one that is."
"Must have been hard to wear that most of the time yes?" she asked this time with a small glint in her eyes.
he stopped his current doings thinking about that before responding, "It was good enough for it's purpose....."

He stood up after a moment with a paper and started to walk out, one would see his clothing he wore was much more loose compared to what he wore at the Nohrad Swords, it was more casual then before anyway, wearing a loose long sleeved shirt only without the tight vest he wore.

"So, you going to get rid of all that other crap? the rest of your 'uniform'?" she asked.
"Yes, it would be better to do so, as my mission is done."
"Oh well, fun while it lasted right?" As if almost being killed several times is fun. He thought Inwardly.

"It's not bad, better than be the stick in the mud you were before you left." she remarked.

Donar then began to leave to room, Emily following after him. "Is there anything else you want from me?" he asked.
"Nah, just trying to pry everything out of you about your time there." she said, "Though, that Mercenary you mentioned before, sounds like she would be fun to spar with."
"No. Putting you two in the same area would be a mistake." he deadpanned.
Emily then took her leave as Donar continued on his way, thinking of events long past, and a unnerving feeling he could not get off his chest.
Maybe it was the appearance of two Mercenaries that have bee hired by Lord Pharos the other day. What would be going on? Unfortunately, something in his mind kept him from thinking the worst.
One big guy, and a skinny guy... they looked as if they would have took on those Morgogs by themselves if given the chance. He shivered thinking about that before going on his way.

Location: Norhad Swords Headquarters, Milestone Fortress

" Progress is impossible if we lose sight of our goals. "

500 C.Y.A.D.

This responsibility now fell upon Vice Commander Sansuis and the Lieutenants, whom most of the Captains were loyal and familiar with. Reparations were to be top priority, but funds needed to be obtained primarily from missions.

With very few to take the lead, the rebuilding process would take weeks. Because of this, no mission was turned away no matter how trivial or small, Captains and their groups were not to be discriminatory and were to take on multiple assignments if they were all small and could be completed together while they were out in the field to save time from returning. Halfway through the Eclasen month the main fortifications, homes and docks were fully repaired and only smaller details within each remained. During this time, the Commanders and lieutenants were gathering newer people and mercenaries to the cause. As opposed to Antarah's oddly reserve selections in the past, they were less likely to turn someone interested away.

Grifyn walked past the main gates as he headed towards nowhere. When he passed through the market, he took glances upon some stall, both old and new, remembering some of which could provide him aid at a latter time. His aimless walking continued, until he was at the edge of Annabelle's Pond, where his feet halted as soon as the tip of his left boot touched the water.

It seems that his mind was blank, or he was too deep in thought for he had no awareness of his environment. His eyes blankly gazed upon the vast blue of the pond's waters, witnessing the various movements of the ripples and the flow of the water. His breathes were heavy as if they were all sighs.

For lengthy minutes, he stood there. Doing nothing but staring blankly at what was before him.

Then, the young man lifted his right arm, and gazed upon it. After a few seconds, he clenched his fist.

"I feel empty.", he said. "All this time I've done feats that no simple man could do. I've attained glory that I've never even dreamt of. I've earned enough coins to last me until I grow old."

He threw a punch in air, and let himself drop backwards to the momentum. He fell to the grassy ground, lying down with his back against the earth, his arm, still raised due to his previous action and position. He opened his right hand, his palm facing the sky as if his was trying to grab the very clouds above.

"What am I missing?", he asked himself. "What is it that I need to do?"

He lowered his right arm.

"What have I forgotten?"

With a small grunt of displeasure, Henvo pulled on the leather armor. Strange, when he'd first come south, humans avoided him when he changed clothes, some even scolding him. Garments were a strange thing humans wore, of varying shades, shapes, etcetera. (It should be noted that the only color Henvo's canine eyes could see was red; everything else was multiple shades of gray.) As he adjusted the uncomfortable material over his fur, he placed the agreed upon amount of gold wafers on the counter in front of the crafter. The 'Leatherworker", he caled himself. Why he called himself a "Leatherworker" when the leather did no work, or what exactly he would do with the worthless thin gold pieces Henvo had given him in exchange for the armor, he didn't know. What a curious race these humans were!

Leaving the leatherworkers stall, Henvo rolled his shoulders, tilting his neck to the side with a satisfying pop. When individuals would normally scream and hide at the site of a sinewy, fierce looking Ferus, these humans did not. Henvo had learned to take extra care in disguising himself, practicing the spell Metal Noise had taught him over and over again. "This is an exciting spell, Steel Song," his brother had told him, "After it is cast, one can change the way their very being looks! Try again brother!" While the words of his kind sounded like small growls and soft whines to the humans, a flick of an ear or a head tilt meant more to Henvo than the small shiny metal pieces that the humans seemed to prize so much. Henvo fingered the bit of metal hanging from his ear in remembrance of his brother, the bits and pieces making a pleasant jingling sound. He missed all his brothers terribly.

To the general onlooker, it would seem that a light skinned, white haired, lean man was adjusting the bauble that hung in his hair. His face had an angle to it and a strong jaw, his black eyes sparkled at sudden movement. His half-bare chest showed the black ink of tattoos, simalar ones wound down his bicep. Strange, as far as humans considered people. Stranger still as a Ferus. But for a warrior in a time of violence, perfectly normal.

Henvo eventually wandered to a place where there were many others wearing armor like his. The skin of a dead animal, processed by the 'Leatherworker'. His instincts told him to seek out others that had much in common with himself, and these humans were the closest he could get. It appeared that the alpha, a rather striking woman, was commanding them to run back and forth, drop to the ground, then get back up and skitter about again. Henvo stopped in the middle of the open space, staring at the humans with a confused expression, his head tilted to the side, trying to find what in bloody snow they were trying to accomplish in this strange ritual.

flashback time: attack on fort

leira had taken some time off from her daily jobs at the norhad swords to care for her aging parents especially her dad who had become ill and was not able to do any farm work. she took her dads place and organized the farming even hiring extra hands to make it go faster. it had been more than a month since she last visited them so it was nice to spend some time their with family and see the old village. Right then her thoughts were of cecil the blind, grifyn the injured and ella the innocent and what their fate was in all of it. her hands were tied though cause she had 2 weeks left of work before she could return.

flashback time: 15 days before current.

when she got back the whole mood was different. lots of guards on patrol, lots of property destroyed and a feeling of tiredness probably from the task of rebuilding.

Current time

one thing she was happy about was when her good friend ella came back to the fortress. she couldnt hardly recognize that gal, she looked.... more mature and calm, not like nervous jumpy girl she met at first. it was really nice to catch up with her and we needed all the help we could get. new people were coming in left and right during this time to help out. the vice commander sent some fresh meat over her way to break em in with some labors at the ranch.

Yana Varraick, a girl about the same age as her, was one of them. " Yana~! come with me to the pond so we can ride the papaopamus back into the enclosure please~! " she asked her.

Norhad Swords Headquarters
Eclasen 15th, 997 C.Y.A.D. - Afternoon

The Norhad Swords HQ was always somewhat busy but was busier than the norm. It had been that way for the past weeks after the attack since much of the fortress was destroyed or damaged as well many new recruits coming in. Belluam had been busy for most of the time training the fresh meat, overseeing repairs, as well as constantly arguing with acting commander Sarah. Belluam hated her before just for being another prim and proper government crony. But now Bell hated her more. Constant paper work was flowing into Bell's office with orders from Sarah, and more Kingdom affairs officials came and went. Then the lot of new recruits seem to be weak. Most would quit before a day because of Belluam's harsh drilling and training, to which she was reprimanded by Sarah Maillium. Bell would also go and visit the Commander a a couple of times reporting to him. But she couldn't stay for to long so she would just leave him knick-knacks and the sorts. But as always, Belluam would find her self finding some slacker dozing off or drinking in the bar when he's supposed to be working.
"UP!... DOWN!... UP!..." Belluam's Voice was booming as always. A voice familiar to all in the fortress. At least until after the attack. Some of her men seemed to have forgotten and new recruits would need to learn it as can be seen by the lack of will or their confused posture. So Belluam grabbed every mercenary that was slacking off and all new recruits and began to drill them hard so that they will never forget Belluam's Voice. Plus it kept her distracted from thinking about things she'd rather not. Belluam's arms were cross and so was her attitude as she continued to command until one man put his knee up to rest. Belluam's nostrils flared up as she briskly marched up to the man and flipped him on his back by his collar. "Get up you lazy piece of crap! who in the hell said you can rest?!" Belluam yelled in his face. The man's face contorted into one of absolute fear and surprise. "Now get back onto your feet you damned maggot! Everyone one your feet!" The mercs that were drilling with Belluam all got on their feet at attention. Belluam paced back and forth seething. "All of you have gotten lazy. Now because of your buddy here." Belluam points to the man that was being reprimanded "All of you get to run around the fortress... TWICE! Now git yur asses in gear!" The men began running one by one until they were all running all the while Belluam stared smirking, pleased with her work. Belluam then looked around for someone else to grill and whip into shape, until her eyes fixated upon someone new. This new man was odd. She couldn't put her finger on it but he was definitely new. Bell didn't know how he got in so the security must be slacking. Bell mad a mental note to go inspect the gate guards. "Ey you over there!" Belluam yelled to the lone man only looking about. "Are you daft or new because i will not have any idle Norhad swords walking about!" Belluam barked as she walked up to him getting in his face. "Whats your name?" Belluam's brows furrowed and her eyes lit with a sadistic flame, wanting to haze and break the new blood.
