Fantasy The Plague [plot]

I've been yearning to do something very specific for quite some time. This is gonna be pretty dark, so those of you not interested in such things can stop reading now. Without further ado, let's move onto the plot.

The land is being ravaged by a mysterious plague. It does not kill nor does it hurt; well, at least not physically. What is destroyed by this baffling disease is the spirit, reducing the afflicted to their basest instincts and robbing them of their individuality. It is not known how the disease is spread, and similarly, there is no known cure. The remains of once proud civilization are surviving as isolated communities living in the climate of paranoia. Is your neighbor healthy? Is your best friend going to infect you? Are you healthy? Will you wake up as yourself tomorrow? Your character is someone who is personally invested in healing the plague. Maybe they are a doctor, maybe they lost a loved one to the disease, perhaps they just need to feel that they're doing something important with their time on this earth. Regardless, they aren't planning to just wait and let the disease claim them.

During their research, they discover that the disease is older than the country itself - and that there is a cure, at least if legends are to be believed. They learn that the contents of the ancient chalice must be spilled to appease the gods who became angry with humanity. The chalice, they say, is guarded as a sacred relic by an old religious order. After considerable trouble, your character manages to locate the chalice; except, surprise, it is not a chalice. Or at least not in the conventional sense of that word. It is a woman named Chailís - which means chalice in the older variants of the common language - and, well, apparently she needs to die. Considering the circumstances, she takes it rather well. Actually, she goes with your character willingly. Now you just need to escort her to the old temple; a journey that will surely be long and perilous, for it is far and the world is unforgiving.

Well, that's basically it. You probably understand by this point that I'd like to play as Chailís. What am I going for with this roleplay? Aside from the edge, I'd like this to be both action-filled and contemplative, full of exciting scenes, mystery, drama and touching moments between the characters. I think that there should be enough opportunities for everything I have mentioned. I mean, the world is a hellish landscape at this point, so dangers should be plentiful, and since the characters are going to be traveling alone, they will probably talk a lot. Character interactions are something I'm looking forward to the most, so if you're not a character-oriented writer, I'd advise against messaging me. I'd personally enjoy some romance as well purely for the drama, but hey, if our characters end up having zero chemistry, there is no need to push them into situations that wouldn't naturally occur.

So, uh, if you're interested, message me and we will hash out details! Make sure to let me know your expectations and contribute ideas. I do have a pretty good idea of what is actually happening in that world (and I would prefer not telling you because it will be better for you when it all unfolds slowly), but nothing is really set in stone, everything can (and should) be refined and ideally, we can come up with something even better together! (And while I know who/what my character is, I know pretty much nothing about yours, so this is something you should think about. Come on, show me that you are as passionate about the plot as I am!). You know the drill, two hands are better than one.

Oh, and I don't really care about the gender of your character. I have a slight preference towards female characters, but as long as I enjoy your style, we're good. This is a roleplay, not Tinder, after all.
