Olympus Peak High School was a very average High School. The entire building practically reeked of monotony and normalcy. Spending even five minutes in there would bore you to death. But, alas, the student body was forced to spend eight hours in there learning boring stuff of dubious usefulness. The teachers were forced to stay even longer, getting there early and leaving there late.

One had to make their own fun around OPH and that was not easy. Hence why Adrian Thane, a very grumpy dude, spent most of his non-class time sitting in the corner playing video games. This included lunch, which was currently happening right now. Adrian was one of those few kids who still brought his own lunch to school. This was mainly because only seniors were allowed to leave campus during lunch and the school's food was as boring and tasteless as the rest of the school.

And thus, there began the introduction of Adrian Thane, sitting in the corner of the lunch room, eating a bag of chips, and playing Kirby: Planet Robobot for the 20th time.

He stood by the double doors to the cafeteria with his phone out and a small line forming near him. He took the ten dollar bill from another kid and they shuffled off allowing the next kid to step up to which he announced "Last one today guys, orders getting too big." causing a few groans to be let out by several other students. The last kid silently celebrated before asking "Its mcdonalds monday right?" Orion simply nodded and the kid asked for a ten piece and some fries before handing him a ten dollar bill. As per usual he would keep the change from all the orders as his payment which today was looking like at least twenty bucks and considering his dad had already packed him a high protien meal he decided to see what his motley crew of weirdo's wanted. Putting the last order on the phone and texting it to himself he then sent a group message to his friends that read.
"Mcdonalds today, anyone want anything? Its on me."
He sent That text too then made his way to the senior parking lot flashing his student id to the officer at the end of the Hall and heading out. He made it to the truck quickly and breifly adjusted his mirrors and seat. Finally he buckled up then checked his shotgun ensuring it was still loaded. He didnt think he would need to use it sure, but the simple ritual had become comforting to him. He glanced down at his phone once more to see if there was a reply, then shifted his gaze to the door to the parking lot hoping someone would run out to go with him. This hope would only cause him to linger for a few more minutes though.

Everett Mullard

Everett was sitting against the lunchroom wall, trying to eat his lunch. He wasn't sitting at a table, because why not? It was just nice to sit on the floor and eat lunch, provided you cleaned the area first. Cafeterias could be pretty dirty and Everett wasn't gonna eat next to someone's trash! And why he was "trying" to eat his lunch and not actually eating his lunch was kinda dumb. Everett decided on trying food art stuff, and he had made tiny kitty sandwiches. Problem was the cat sandwiches were way too cute, and Everett felt bad eating them. The sympathy for the feline food would probably fade, but for now he wasn't eating it.
Everett was about to pull out his sketchbook when his phone buzzed. Seems like Orion was asking if anyone wanted Mcdonald. He eyed his sandwich, and thought for a second. A moment later he types out his response. "Nope, but thanks anyway!!! (◕‿◕)" He put his phone away in his pocket and pulled out his sketchbook. He flipped it to the newest page. It was a loosely themed group of doodles that was mostly amphibians and reptiles. Everett pulled out some pens and began meticulously drawing a border around it. Just a bit more stuff and the page was finished, which was always so nice. He'd eat the cat sandwiches later.

Orion's text had the absolute worst timing. Adrian had finally gotten to the end of his True Arena run. He thought he might actually finish it for once. All that was left was to dodge Star Dream Soul OS's desperation attack and he'd be finished. Unfortunately, his phone buzzed just as he was about to dodge and he was hit, leaving him forced to start the whole frustrating gauntlet over again.

"Dammit." Adrian swore under his breath as he took out his phone.

The text was from Orion. He was doing his usual lunch thing, buying lunch for kids who payed and wanted to know if anybody in the group wanted anything. There was already one reply from Everett. Adrian was a bit miffed about losing his run and he didn't want anything, but as anti-social as he was he knew that not replying was considered a bit of a jerk move.

I'm good, but thanks. He texted.

He put his phone away, resolving to ignore future texts, since they'd probably just be replies to the same conversation. He picked his 3DS up and pressed retry.

When the bell chimes and announces lunch time, most students of OPH race out of their seats to get to their lockers, the lunch line, or to get off campus. Luke was never one to race, but if he had to be put in a category, it would be with the group of students racing to their lockers, not for a lunch from home, but for his guitar Clio. There wasn't anything on Luke's mind save for the tune stuck in his head that he needed to let out.

As a senior, he could leave campus, but Luke didn't have a ride, so he settled for hanging right outside the front of the school near the parking lot. He leaned against the wall and began strumming his guitar, missing the first three two texts from his friends. It wasn't until the third text from Adrian that finally broke Luke from his song. He flicked open his phone, read the texts, and realized he probably should eat something during lunch time.

"I could go for a Bic Mac. Give me a sec, I'll go with you." Luke texted. He swung Clio on his back and raced to the senior parking lot, which luckily wasn't too far away.

⚒Ravis Renchi🛠

The calm of the cafeteria was interrupted when a teacher walked in, looking a mixture of annoyed and concerned. Following closely behind, was a dark skinned raven who sported a new plaster on her cheek, left elbow and an equally annoyed look on her face. The chemistry teacher, Mr. Brown was giving the girl a lecture.

"I've told you time and time again, Miss Renchi, stop fighting with other students, especially the seniors."

The girl, Ravis Renchi scoffed and rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms

"Look teach, Dan and pretty much everyone else, knows not to touch my bag and he even kicked it! It's destroying property and that is a crime"

The bald man sighed, not really getting paid extra for this. He stopped walking and turned to face the girl, looking tired

"I know, but your bag wasn't destroyed and you gave the first punch, and you got off rather earlier than him. He's still at the infirmary with a broken nose, Ravis. No matter the reason, fighting is not acceptable in this school. I'm afraid I'll have to call your father for a meeting with the principal"

With a grunt, Ravis stomped her way over to the seat over at a table and just..Plopped down, looking extremely annoyed.

"Right, forget the fact that I haven't gotten in trouble for two weeks now..Bah, Dan Fischer, you deserved worse.."

She muttered and fished out The Renchi Coin, or Ren Coin for short. Putting the golden coin between her fingers, she began to flick it back and forth from her left hand to her right one, doing some rather impressive coin tricks to calm down.

Taking out her phone at Orion's message, seeing about four other replies and realizing how hungry she was, she texted a reply

"Some chicken nuggets and fries would be good. No mustard, just ketchup"

Sighing and putting away her phone, Ravis went back to her coin tricks, ignoring the stares and whispering behind her back.

Jordan's phone buzzed on the table. She scooped it up and in between notes neatly taken in a spiral ring notebook and bites taken out of a homemade cucumber sandwich, she wrote back to the group,

No, thank you! :)

She put the phone down and went back to her notes. She was taking her lunch in the library, as she'd been on and off for the past four-odd years. It wasn't that she disliked the cafeteria. Lunch was just too long. If she didn't study now she'd be up all night! (She was up all night studying anyway.) Tapping the capped tip of her golden scepter-shaped pen against her bottom lip Jordan seemingly remembered the aluminum tin sitting prettily beside her on the library table, which was otherwise occupied by various open textbooks, and a laptop.

I brought cookies! They're in the library. Help yourselves <3

Tina put her book down, frowning slightly at her phone, which was on the table in front of her. She was fed up with hearing AC/DC over and over again. She picked it up and hit skip several times until she found a song that she could actually listen to. With a somewhat relieved sigh, she put it down and closed her eyes, letting the music wash over her. The song was over all too soon, and Tina opened her eyes again, looking around the cafeteria. She spotted Ravis sitting not too far away, looking more beat up than the last time Tina had seen her.

Tina stood up, intending to go talk to the younger girl when her phone buzzed. It was a reply to a text Orion had sent, which she’d missed earlier. He was everyone if they wanted anything from McDonald’s. She didn’t, most of the time she didn’t even eat lunch proper.

“Nah, I’m not hungry.” She replied, sticking her phone into her pocket and grabbing her backpack. People moved out of her way as she walked over to Ravis. She sat down across from the other girl, simply raising her eyebrow.

Zane, sitting on his duffel bag, was on his phone, watching a video about some inventor guy who had made a robot thatflew in the sky automatically, thanks to some software that let it stay consistently in the air without crashing. He was sitting quite a bit away from others, though he was still on campus. It was pretty engrossing, and he accidentally brought up the notification page only to find there were already a few texts; Orion had offered McDonald’s or something. He typed, “yeah, I’m down.”

He stood up, slipping his phone in his pocket and grabbing his duffel bag. After brushing off some dirt off the frankly suffering duffel bag, Zane started to make his way around the school and to the main parking lot, since that was where Orion usually waited when picking them up.

Left, right, left, right went the Ren Coin, from finger to finger and hand to hand until it got flicked up and snatched. Ravis didn't notice Tina until the other had sat down across, raising a brow. Sighing, the raven put down the Ren Coin and looked over at her elbow. She then looked over at her friend and her frown turned into a grin.

"Well somebody better call God 'cause He's missing an angel. You're looking good today, Tins"

Ravis chuckled and played with the Ren Coin with one hand, pointing at her new plaster with the other.

"If you're wondering, Danny Fishboy thought it'd be funny if he took my bag. I just knocked off a few screws out of him, nothing I can't fix"

“You’re very sweet, Ravis.” Tina said, smiling slightly. She looked at the younger girl thoughtfully for a moment. Ravis was a good friend, but she did tend to get into fights too often. Tina shrugged her bag off, setting it on the floor and taking her dog eared copy of Mistborn out. She flipped to the page she’d marked and began to read.

“You know, if you’re going to get into a fight, do it outside of school, or somewhere where you won’t get caught.” Tina said, turning the page and looking up at Ravis.

Sometimes life doesn't go the way you planned. Actually, most of the time life doesn't go the way you planned. However, regardless of how often life does or does not go the way you planned, most people do not have to deal with unplanned monster attacks. But alas, the Pantheon were not most people.

Outside, a what looked like a meteor appeared in the sky. It was falling fast and as it got closer it was clear that whatever it was was going to land on the road right outside Olympus Peak High School. And that was exactly what happened. The meteor crashed into the road. Thankfully, it didn't hit anyone and somehow the road and all of the nearby buildings were inexplicably completely intact (minus one stop sign).

There was quite a bit of smoke surrounding the meteor but when it cleared it revealed a giant, monstrous Hydra just a little bigger than OPH.

Zane Rhema

Zane saw the crashing meteor, heard the loud roar, and knew what it was. There was an overlay of a ton of voices, like five speakers playing the exact thing. Similar, but with a noticeable difference. He dropped to one knee and took out his duffel bag. Ever since the monsters had started, he had written a ton into his notebooks including another way to defeat the Hydra aside from fire.

What was it again?

He took out one of the notebooks, this one with a pink cover. Flipping to page sixteen, he traced his finger down the table of contents. Siren, gorgon, Cerberus... there it was. Page 46. With speed and efficiency, Zane flipped to the hydra page. A taped image from Google on the front, with some notes... deadly acid-spitting, poisonous blood, teeth that made skeleton warriors...

There. On the side, there was a quick side-note written down with one of the many worn-out pencils he owned. Most of it was faded, but he could get the general gist of it. Something about explosives.

He groaned, picking up his duffel bag and shoving the notebook in and starting off at a run again. He didn't have explosives, and nobody else probably had any either. Although electricity might work...

He finally got to the front of the school, where the Hydra was.

Adrian had temporarily put his game on pause. He had finalky begun to feel peckish and had taken a sandwich out of his brown paper bag. Just as he was about to take a bite, a group of screaming students birst into the lunchroom followed by a loud boom. A few seconds after that was a roar, or rather, five eroars at the same time.

"Son of a seaking." Artemis swore. He had no idea what was out there but he knew it was probably the kind of thing he and his friends were supposed to deal with.

He took a bite of his sandwich before shoving it in the bag and running outside. Sure enough, there was a monster. A Hydra. Adrian was no Greek mythology expert but everyone knew the Hydra. Adrian cursed. He was going to have to fight that? He knew he'd be fighting with his friends but still.

Everett Mullard

Everett was just about to finish drawing when the Hydra crash landed. The crash startled Everett right in the middle of drawing, making his pen jolt across the paper. He cursed, there was a streak right through the middle of the page. While most of the doodles weren't ruined, it was still really annoying. Everett closed the sketchbook and saw a bucnh of students run screaming into the classroom. He should probably find whatever crashed, shouldn't he? He scrambled to put away his lunch and all of his other stuff, before heading towards the crash.
Everett made his way outside the school to see-- was that a 7 headed dragon?!?! A hydra, a super duper big hydra. Yes, he had seen a minotaur before, but a bull guy was not the same as a dragon the size of a building! It seemed like Adrian and Zane were already here, but not anyone else. That probably definitely wasn't good considering the monster in front of them. Oh, and all the students that could get hurt if they didn't kill the hydra. Basically, none of this was really good, but that's kind of obvious.

Luke was just about to Orian's ride when the meteor hit. Luke froze, turned to his left, and watched in utter shock when a giant creature emerged. He had no clue what it was, but he had a horrible feeling he was going to find out what it was capable of in a very short amount of time. There were screams coming from the school, students reacting to that thing no doubt. Of course the whole school was here to see this, to see him and his friends either succeed or fail morbidly.

One by one his friends started appearing. This was all too new. Just because the power of a God was within him, didn't mean he knew how to use it. It wasn't until Luke saw his brother that he knew he must go as well, for better or for worse. He looked back and saw Orian by his truck.

"Guess that McDonald's run is going to have to wait. Too bad, too. I was really craving those fries," Luke called out in a voice that sounded way more confident than he was.

Tina McNabb
Tina glanced up at the sound of the massive crash, followed by a five-part roar. “The second trial.” She said calmly, guessing as to the origin of the sound, “The hydra.” The slim girl stood, rolling her neck and pushing her chair in.

“We should probably go check that out.” she said to Ravis, sliding her bag under the table. Without waiting for an answer she walked off, shoving her way through the now panicked crowd of students. Once in the corridor, she broke into a run for the exit doors. Shouldering them open, she stopped in her tracked, looking up. The hydra was bigger than she’d expected.

Tina spotted several of her friends already outside. She noticed Orion over by his truck and jogged over. “It’s a bit bigger than I expected.” she said, her voice still calm. “Though I suppose I never expected to actually see one.” she glanced at the hydra again, watching its movements warily. “Any ideas?”

Orion was still checking the texts and had just unlocked his truck for Luke when the "meteor" hit, being already outside he watched with a steely gaze as each of its heads unfurled. Slowly he reached over his shoulder grabbing his grandpa's double barrel, before saying to luke "Maybe not, that thing is definitly here for us, i cant think of any other reason it'd be here. We cant just fight it here in the parking lot, so we need it to chase us...you do know how to drive right?" He said as he opened his door, leaning across the seat to grab the box of shells from the glove compartnment and waving for his friends to come over as they began to trickle out. Switching the safety off on the shotgun he hopped into the back of the truck and began putting shells in his pockets. "Henderson road leads to that old grain silo about two miles away on the other side of the woods, if we can get over there we should be good to cut loose on this ugly thing." he responded to tina his usually calm ddemeanor was begining to be traded in for his confident competitiveness that accompanied him into every game of football. He didnt like fighting people sure, but this was no person this was the perfect venue for venting years of pent up frustration, after all its not everyday you get to shoot at a hydra. He would line up the bead of his shotgun with the center of that creatures writhing mass of heads but wait for his friends before deciding to blast at it.

Adrian sighed and looked around. He caught sight of Luke and Orion. The two of them looked like they were putting together a plan. Preferring to have a plan to follow as opposed to charging in blindly, Adrian ran over to the two of them.

"You look like you have a plan." He said.

He was about to say something else but we'll never know what, because at that very moment the Hydra roared again, catching his attention. He watched as one of it's five heads lunged at Everett.

“Right.” Tina said skeptically, “I’m not too keen on leading the hydra all that way, but we don’t have much choice.” She vaulted up into the truck bed next to Orion, picking out her friends among the parking lot. She didn’t see everyone yet. What was taking them so long? Suddenly she wished she had a gun, though she had no idea how to use one. The five headed beast was so large, and as a normal human she felt all too small. Tina pulled out her knife, scowling at it momentaryily before looking back at the hydra. She slid it back into it sheath, shaking her head.
Adrain ran over suddenly, saying something about a plan. She was about to respond, but she spotted movement out of the corner of her eye. The hydra was lunging for Everett. "Watch it!" she shouted, glancing at Orion.

Luke Mullard

Luke did as he was told and hopped into the driver’s seat. He had driven Orion’s truck only once, and it was just to move it into another parking spot, never for a drive and certainly never for a drive involving being chased by a giant mythological monster he didn’t know the name of.

“Ok, now all we need is for that thing to follow us. Can anyone draw its atten-“ Luke froze as he saw one of the monster’s heads lunge for his brother.

“Everett!” He yelled, and pounded his fist on the horn. The loud song of the siren pierced the air in the parking lot. Luke started the truck and slowly pulled out of the parking spot and towards the exit, which was right to the side of where the monster stood.

Ravis looked over at Tina, raising a brow. Her friend was definitely a fellow fighter, more skilled than her actually. What she didn't get is how people messed with her less often. She had one thing Ravis didn't have to her advantage; Respect.

"Easy for you to say, not my fault they pick the fight. If it was something else, I would've let it slide but touch and even kickin' my bag? That's a no no"

The mechanic glanced at the Ren Coin and flipped it up, her next trick being interrupted by a loud crash and a roar. It sent the coin tumbling to the floor and sent somewhere by the stampede of students. She barely heard what Tina said.

"I'll be right behind you in about two seconds!"

Ravis yelled back and pushed and shoved her way around, looking frantically for Ren Coin. Crap, crap crap! That was basically an ancestral thing! She didn't want to be one of the few Renchi to lose it and disappoint her mom. She had enough of being called a failure. In her panicked search, Ravis's brown eyes caught a glimmer of gold and dove to get in, grabbing the coin but making her trip several students and get kicked.

Standing up, she rushed the other way to the road, watching as a five headed monster that looked a lot like a dragon and some of her friends. Ravis's eyes widened as one of the heads went right at Everett.

"Look out!"

Everett saw one of the Hydra's heads lunge for him and like... 3 people yelling to watch out. One of which was definitely his brother. He jumped back, and narrowly dodged the attack. Then Everett turned and sprinted away from the Hydra. No way was he staying in range of that thing! Especially since bows didn't really work as melee weapons. Speaking of which, he should probably transform around now. To start killing the Hydra and stuff.
"Goddess of the hunt and the moon, Artemis!" In a shower of sparkles and bright light, Everett turned into his magical girl/goddess form. He pulled out his bow and shot an arrow into the Hydra head that attacked him. "Thanks for the warning!" Everett yelled. "But can we start killing this thing already!"

Momo Oyeleke

Another day was here and seemed to be moving so fast; it was nearly noon already. Momo was nearly dozing off, outside during lunch, bathed in sunlight. She sighed, sitting cross legged in the grass, glancing around the field. Another day with no one to talk to. It had been six weeks since she transferred to Olympus Peak; she felt like she hadn't done a thing since, besides join the ecology club. It's not like she was the most social person in the world, but still...

She poked at her salad with her fork half-heartedly. It wasn't like she was trying to make any friends, anyway. Ever since finding those odd gloves that turned her into someone.. 'else', she felt like she couldn't. She felt as if she had to stay away from others for her own good. What would they say? Would they tell someone? Turn her in? She'd been racking her brain for a logical explanation for months and she had no reasoning behind her newfound powers. The only thing she could come up with was 'it's magic'. Inside, there was a small ray of hope that this was all a dream and she was a normal girl.

She pulled her backpack into her lap, preparing to pull out some schoolwork to work on when she froze. The ground was shaking beneath her. Before she could react, a deafening roar rang out, loud enough to be heard from the entire town. People were already on their feet, rushing the doors to the cafeteria. Screams surrounded her. Did she dare look up?

She did not. Pulling her algebra homework from her backpack, she kept her focus downwards and pulled out a pencil to get to work on the first equation. Her heart was pounding, but she was clueless what else to do. Shock guided her every action as she ignored the deafening cacophony around her. She had to get out of this town.

Everything went to hell in an instant. The head lunged forward and shouts filled the air, he prayed everett would get out of the way and sure enough he did. As soon as he was out of the range of the spread orion let the first slug fly, the loud shot echoing through the parking lot as an single ounce of lead flew out, flipping end over end at the beast like a roll of quarters. After the shot he braced himself on the edge of the truck as it moved, then held out his hand to start helping others in, but he was certainly not feeling as confodent as before. Though he would never admit it the comforting weight of his medal buttoned up in his flannel shirt pocket was what was on his mind. Still he would wait until they were in the clear unless things got worse. Worst case scenario he would transform and lure the beast away and only his own identity need be revealed if even, while he waited with his hand his eyes scanned the parking lot zeroing in on a large van parked beside and equally large SUV. Perhaps they could hide behind those. Taking advantage of the eyes that were on him from the shotguns retort he tilted his head towards them shrugging in indecision.
