Artemisia, the Jewel of the Pacific, the place where anyone could be anything they wanted to be. Run efficiently by computer systems and organized by large megacorporations, it was meant to be a place where dreams came true. A utopia where everyone was catered to regardless of nationality, creed, or gender. A fertile testing ground for new technologies, and a melting pot of culture. For a while, everything was perfect.

Then, suddenly, tragedy struck. A few weeks after the release of the Pandora System, the central servers somehow became corrupted. No one knows how it happened, but everyone who had opted to receive a Pandora System implant received the signal at the same time. Within seconds, people with the Pandora System implanted became animalistic, violent, inhuman. They started attacking those who didn't implant the device and order quickly fell apart. The city government lost control of the citizens, and the city fell into darkness.

It's been 3 days since the crisis began. The survivors are scrambling to live in what's left of the city. Calls for help have been made out to the rest of the world, but no one is coming. We're stranded, we're alone, we're being slaughtered.

Jobs

In Artemisia, jobs are given according to ability. People are assigned to which job they work best in. Several of these jobs have specific subdivisions for specialized work.

Everyone carries some device with maps of the city, your identification, and health information. It’s usually worn around the left forearm, though, some are carried like phones. Jobs will also have specialized apps or devices to assist them in their work.

Administration
Those under Administration work as a bureaucrat for the city or one of the corporations. You maintain day to day operations for the city and its citizens. You might also work in IT, interfacing with the many computer systems across Pandora that keep the city connected.

Skills
Bureaucrat Admins get Public Identification. Your time spent filing reports and staring at computer spreadsheets has honed your skills in identification. You can easily identify if someone has taken The Pandora System if it is not clear.

Technicians can use System Maintenance. Your time spent working on the computer systems and servers that keep Pandora running has rubbed off on you. You can quickly repair a broken computer system, or hack into locked ones, however that takes a bit more time.

Medical
Those under medical work as doctors, nurses, or EMTs. They provide 24 hour medical care for those in the city.

Medical Staff get:

3x MediGel (able to close wounds quickly and with minimal pain)

Skill
Medical Staff can Stabilize injured persons, healing their wounds quicker with available medical technology, or preventing someone from dying until proper medical care can be given.

Those under security work as police and bodyguards within Artemisia.

Skill
Security Officers get Nonlethal Takedown. You train in martial arts to be able to take down a single target nonlethally and quickly with your hands and arms and minimal damage to you and the target.

Engineering
Those under engineering maintain critical systems in Artemisia to keep the city running efficiently. This branch also covers fire crews who respond to emergencies.

Supplies
Engineers get:
1x toolkit
1x PDA for interfacing with systems around the city
1x Engineering Keycard
1x Medkit

Firemen replace the Toolkit with a Fire Axe.

Skill
Maintenance Engineers get Technical Repair allowing them to fix a broken device. The device then may be used as it normally would.

Firemen get Breaking and Entering, allowing them to override a door code for an ID card that they do not have up to three times per 24 hours. Unused codes do not stack.

Celebrity
Those that excel at a certain skill or were recruited by an Artemisia Talent Member. These celebrities frequently appear in corporate propaganda advertising and are often well known socialites. They have connections to the higher-ups within Artemisia and people recognize them.

Groups of of teens and young adults known as Escapists have recently started filming themselves performing dangerous stunts such as using parkour across buildings, sliding into vents, and leaping on and off Maglev trains. The verticality of Artemisia makes this a dangerous, but thrilling, activity to watch, and many are funded through parental trust funds or through anonymous sponsors and are celebrities in their own right.

Skills
Celebrities, being socialites and active community members, have either a Calming Presence which allows them to take control in a chaotic situation when around other people. They also might have Friends in High Places, people that have access to places they might not be able to go and access to resources they might not normally be able to use without these friends.

Escapists get Parkour, which allows them to perform feats of agility inaccessible to most. They're trained by themselves or others, and are usually small and light enough to also climb into vents and places where others can't reach.

City Information

Artemisia's official languages are English, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese. This is due to the fact that most of the funding for the city came from China, the United States, and Japan, as well as its proximity to the three nations in the Pacific Ocean.

The city is arranged in the spokes of a wheel, with each district being named for a god or figure in Greek Mythology. The port and manufacturing districts are on the outside of the city

The City of Artemisia has a population of seven million people. The majority of people live in Hestia, which is the city residential district, and consists of many high-rise luxury apartment buildings and an under-construction arcology known as The Hearth. However, some people, particularly celebrities and high level bureaucrats, live in The Juno Complex, which is a large complex at the center of Artemisia that consists of corporate headquarters and city administrative buildings.

Many of the city's menial tasks such as basic sales and janitorial work have fallen to humanoid robots and vending machines. These servants are faceless and talk with calm voices. They are told not to harm humans through their programming.

Six major companies run the city, with many smaller ones filling niches:
AthenaGen: A technology company and the largest entity in the city. Designed most of the technology in use within the city.
Cerberus Security: The company tasked with keeping order within Artemisia. Provides everything from security officers to nightclub bouncers.
Demeter Agriculture: The company tasked with providing food for Artemisia. Runs the farms in Persephone District and the fisheries in Poseidon. Close ties to Hades, which provides the water needed to grow crops.
Asclepius Group: A medical conglomerate that runs all of the clinics and hospitals in the city. Close ties with AthenaGen, who provides most of the medical technology.
Iris Communication: The communication company within the city. Keeps internet and city-wide intranet running.
Hades Energy: A company that is based in the Undercity of Artemisia. Hades provides the energy necessary to run the city, running the geothermal plants and water that run throughout the city.

In order to be a citizen of Artemisia, you are required to follow the following laws. Refusal to follow these laws will result in deportation from Artemisia and, depending on the law broken, punishment from the nation you are a resident of.

Psychological Profile: Spirit can keep calm in stressful situations. Improvisation comes naturally to her. A woman of a few words, she lets her actions speak for her. Her skeptical nature prevented her from taking the hardware, and it benefitted her in the end. Although Spirit smiles all the time, people often remark that she can be cold. Because of the people she failed to save years before, she resents herself for her inadequacy. Finally, she can be disobedient, often insisting that the other people follow her ideas instead of the already proposed ones.

Personal Background: Orphaned at a young age, Spirit took an interest in the medical field. Since one of her foster parents was a doctor, she wanted to be just like them! The first chance she got, Spirit seized it. Day and night, she studied, and soon, she became an EMT. These first times called upon everything she learned. In the end, all she wanted to do was rest.

She continued her path, becoming her dream job. At this point, she went through a shift in personality, becoming colder and less open. When the Pandora System failed, she was the first to try and help those affected. Soon, she ran away, realizing how they could not be saved. She needed to know more about this situation.

Observed Strengths: She is good at improvising, can handle stressful situations, and knows her way with medical equipment.

Observed Weaknesses: With her emotions bottled up, she can lose her way and make bad choices (this takes a while, however.) Spirit isn't flexible and struggles to do athletic stunts. Lastly, she feels it's her need to do everything herself. If she fails, her self-esteem plummets. Others may try to help her, but she'll refuse their aid.

Psychological Profile: Temple is a calm professional that often displays few, if any, emotions publicly. Often coming off as cold to strangers and clients Temple does have a warm and friendly side only shown towards those she trusts. Because of her chosen line of work she is also extremely suspicious towards strangers and people she deems as "unknown factors".

To no one's surprise Temple also shows a great deal of suspicion towards the wonders of modern technology. Initially due to the security risks current advancements pose her suspicions have worsened because of something much more recent...

Personal Background: Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, Temple is the only child of a pair of para-legals. During her early years she was raised in Sweden but once her father (a British national) received a major promotion the family moved to London where Jane would spend most of her remaining childhood and teenage years before returning home to Sweden where she enlisted with the Swedish Armed Forces. After seven years of service and a combat tour to Africa she decided to move back to London.

Once there she was headhunted by Ares Private Security Ltd., a UK-based subsidiary to Cerberus Security which ran point on Artemisia. With the promise of a hefty pay, varying work and substantial benefits Temple enrolled with Ares and was assigned as one of their Close Protection Officers (CPO).

Now far away from any remotely unstable regions suffering from war Temple shields wealthy CEOs and Artemisian higher-ups from whatever embarrassments they manage to get themselves into rather than protecting civilians from suicide-bombers.

That is, until the Pandora System went crazy and all hell was let loose...

Marx is a genius of technology, however his inept social skills often play him off as a complete idiot. Never able to take anything seriously or empathise with another's issues, Marx plays by his own rules and seems to ignore the world around him. While he is still law abiding, he can sometimes be prone to allowing himself to fall into awkward and even self-destructive situations without knowing it. He is loyal to those he likes, but can never truly trust another person and places a strange amount of reverence to technology itself as if it were it's own entity. Despite his persona of idiocy, Marx is actually quite cunning and mischevious, proving so when his inventions blow through any expectations of his peers. He is an unpredictable and strange man, but he never breaks a promise.

Personal Background:
Born in Russia to a mother going through med school and a professor at the local university, Marx had always lived a secluded life bordering neglect from his very busy parents. Unable to play with the other kids during school, Marx spent most of his days tinkering with spare parts and electronic components out of sheer boredom. As he grew up, he found these exercises enjoyable and began pursuing an educational career path in technical engineering. The limitless possibilities stemming from his creative consciousness did much to sate his restless nature.

As years went by, Marx soon gathered something of a reputation in the international invention world for his ingenious and rather unique mechanical designs, garnering the interest of several establishments looking to offer him further scholarships and work placements with high benefits. While wholly unconcerned with inventing for money or influence, Marx did accept a work placement invitation from the infamous AthenaGen technical corporation. He knew they were on the forefront of modern technology and if he truly wanted to exceed his own limits, it was there that he could do so. For a creative mind like Marx's, he only ever wanted to see just how far he could push human invention. It had become a feverent challenge for him.

Flown to Artemisia by AthenaGen, Marx worked as a technical engineer, handling complex machinery and electronics while using the skills he had learnt and the materials provided to him to continue inventing more and more advanced technology. He was soon to be allowed research grants and his own laboratory so as to truly make history with his goals, but it was then that the Pandora System took a turn for the worst. Surviving due to his latent incompatibility with neural networking in general, Marx escaped the corporation buildings when people started turning homicidal. In a way, he felt lucky. Now there wouldn't be anyone to blame him for the part he played in designing elements of the system himself.

Observed Strengths:
Spark of Invention - Marx is occasionally struck with random moments of genius, often pertaining technology by various measures. His ideas are unprecedented and generally quite impractical, but he seems to make them work when needed.

Analytical Vigilance - Marx is very observant and has good attention to detail despite his careless attitude. He can quickly tell what's wrong with a machine and is fast to notice minute details that could throw something awry.

Pianist - Marx has strangely dexterous hands and fingers, attributed to his years of piano practice, working with complex electronics and from being double jointed.

Defective Thinking - Marx has had something wrong with his brain from birth that affects his every day life. Where others would fear or become intimidated by something, Marx simply doesn't understand. While it is helpful in some situations, it can often prove detrimental.

Observed Weaknesses:
Athlete's Curse - Marx has very little muscle power to speak of due to his specialisation in complex machinery engineering. His stamina is low, his strength is average and capacity to withstand damage is poor. His low weight makes him nimble, but he is a far cry from being called fast.

Man's Best Friend - Marx has grown to think of technology as his friend, even going as far as to prefer devices over people. While he doesn't dislike other humans, he simply has no idea how to build relationships or smoothly interact with them. This affects his cooperation skills the most.

Technical Specialist - Due to his job and complete focus on engineering and invention, Marx has literally no skills in anything else and has to heavily rely on others for basic things like cooking. Paired with his other weaknesses, this particular trait is the most detrimental.

Defective Thinking - As before, Marx has an error in his brain and processes information differently to others. This has thus far rendered him incompatible with neural interfaces and can pose him a serious threat when his life is in danger. He is often caught wandering in a dreamlike state into hazardous areas. This additionally contributes to his inability to properly connect with others.

Personal Background:
Cali grew up independently. When her parents divorced at a young age they became absent. She learned to cook, clean, and fend for herself. She was never very good at making friends. Instead, she spent countless hours watching Animal Planet, reading psychological thrillers, and playing sports. She excelled at school without much effort and found herself going to med school just for the challenge. She found herself at home in the ER where her busy mind always had something to do.
When Pandora unleashed she assumed an infectious disease had broken out in the ER, and only escaped with luck that an organ donation had just come in and the pilot hadn't fallen victim. Cali worries that all hope is lost.

Observed Strengths:
  1. Advanced Medical Knowledge- She was training to be an ER doctor so she has a vast knowledge of many different problems and treatments, including homeopathy.
  2. Good physical fitness- She’s always been interested in health and fitness and practices yoga and distance running.
  3. Critical Thinking- She’s a naturally logical person who is good at problem-solving.

Observed Weaknesses:
  1. She doesn’t connect easily with others as she finds them most often irrational.
  2. She can be overly-empathetic which can be taken advantage of.
  3. She tends to be dishonest as a self- protection mechanism.
  4. She takes unnecessary risks.
  5. She's not tech-savvy in the slightest.

Personal Background: Born and raised in Poland, Jacob, which was often called Israel due to name, was a normal kid. Of course if you can say that a small robbery and few fights are normal thing to everyone. He always wanted to serve in Polish special forces GROM Unfortunately he was rejected at the health inspection, which lead him to failed suicide attempt. A few years passed, he could re-enter the society again. Finding himself familiar with computers, he studied at the Jagielloński University in Cracow as IT technician. He went too UK looking for job, then to USA, and finally to the Artemisia. Found his place at the Hades Energy Corporation, everyone would think his life is good and comfy, as he's well paid job.

Egoistic and skeptical, Jacob never had many friends. But he knew the value of friendship and strong bonds towards second human. He rarely trusts anybody, but if he do, then it's a gift for someone. Yes, the past was bad for him, but that only strengthened his mind and body. Now he's living pretty decent life, as a average person in this beautiful city.

Untill one day he got a tone of messages about malfunction of Hades System...

Psychological Profile: Everything has a price, but not everyone values things correctly. Such is the foundation of James' pattern of thinking, a constant cost-benefit and P&L analysis. For this reason, James is often cordial as a means to an end. It's easier to work with others and to convince them when they're not angry with you. Thus, many people who know of James would say that they're acquaintances, colleagues, clients and friendly rivals of James, but no one seems to be able to call him their closest friend or their worst enemy. After all, he's never personal about things. To him, it's all business. He could careless that one of his co-workers is cheating on their spouse as long as the project is finished and the deal is closed.

Personal Background: James is the heir to the Wolff family, a relatively wealthy US family who had made investments in the development of Artemisia and some of its businesses. The Wolff family established a branch office in the city to further their investment opportunities in the city, which had been paying off substantially and James was sent to oversee this major branch as he is set to inherit the family's business and should pay a major role to gradually take over more responsibilities. As the head of the Artemisia branch, James has been talking and dealing with many people, trying to find good deals that his family could purchase or invest in. Their most successful investment so far had been in real estate in the Juno Complex where they lease several offices to major companies under the name of Wolff Capital Partners.

Social Butterfly: Need to get in touch with someone in the executive board of AthenaGen? James knows a person or two who can help. Hell, he went to the COO's niece's wedding about a year ago.

Insider Knowledge: Being a part of the major shareholders in various companies in the city, James has seen a lot of pitch books and prospectuses that companies issued for their new M&A plans and other business secrets.

Keen Eye: Always looking out for good deals and filtering bad investments, James is very perceptive. He can usually tell when someone is lying or "fluffing" their company during meetings and pitches, or when he visits companies to look at their operations... he can notice the fact that the factory could not possibly pushing out 20 million units a year that the company claimed they did last year when the production line has been pushing out less than 4000 units in the last hour that he had been watching and talking with some of the factory employees.

Observed Weaknesses:

Bad Back: Years of working on spreadsheets, sitting in meetings, and networking have led to James developing back problems that make it difficult for James to perform feats of strength like lifting heavy objects without pain and potentially injuring himself.

Insomnia: Years of working 100+ hours a week has ruined James' sleep hygiene, often leading James to have difficulty falling asleep.

Neutrality: James' cordiality and avoidance of close relationships has effectively made it so that James has no one he could completely rely or trust... while he might not have made major enemies, he sure as hell doesn't have anything like close confidants or close friends.

Psychological Profile: Defensive, artistic, outgoing, sore loser, competitive. VERY competitive.

Personal Background: Charlotte grew up in Florida, and lived a seemingly normal life with frequent hurricanes. She had gotten used to them though, and it became a way of life for her. She started out her music career by first auditioning in a school musical, and when she got older, she decided to pursue a music career, and eventually got famous. She continued to pursue her dream for a while, and was pretty outgoing, and opens up to many people, but she’s always worried that she has fake friends, that are only out for her money and fame. She continued to live this way, doubting everything but still acting how society saw her, until one day her fans attacked her on stage. She then knew there was definitely something wrong.

Amazing voice
Ability to access many places in the city (she had a lot of acquaintances in high places)
Can temporarily calm down a Pandora System effected person

Doubt in everyone
Can’t run really fast (this was a result of a leg being broken in the same place many times)

Other: She had a singing career. Not much else I think I would put here...
