Mistress of the Elements
It was late summer, the weather was lovely this time of year because it was starting to cool down from the blazing heat of summer and transition into the cooler weather of fall. It was still warm enough to be wearing shorts and sandals but at least it wasn't a burning heat. Some of the leaves even started to change from their vibrant green to a subtle yellow in the turn of the season as they rustled gently in the wind. The city felt almost inviting from the chill vibes of a late summer afternoon.
Koeri had graduated from the hero course that spring so she was a full pro hero in Musutafu working under Uwabami's office. She rose to fame relatively quick because of the fame behind her mentor, not that she wanted it, but the woman constantly tells her to embrace her 'cute face'. She wanted to become a hero to prove she could protect people but ended up being dragged into unnecessary fame because of the internship she took during high school. It wasn't all bad at least she was making good money on missions. She spent the summer saving up and paying for an apartment in the city near her work. She was even allowed days off under the full moon do to the unpredictability of her quirk during that time. Most of her free time in the agency was spent shadowing Uwabami and staring in her photoshoots against what she typically would like to do. The blonde constantly says how cute she is and how perfect she'd be to bring in new fans of the industry thanks to her wolf-like appearance. 'Boys love dogs' the woman would say. As it may have sounded like an insult after spending so much time with the blonde Koeri knew better by now.
Today wasn't any different, she had to wake up early to attend a commercial shooting for shampoo and conditioner with the snake heroine in the morning then go on patrol in another district for the afternoon. There had been reports of some villain activity picking up there in the past few days so her agency agreed to send a patrol out that way. She walked along the sidewalk dressed in her hero costume trying not to pay too much attention to the fans trying to pet her. "Please back away." She'd say to them if they touched her tail or ears. This was why she wanted to refrain from being a celebrity like her mentor. It obstructed her work and constantly incited people to touch her. It was aggravating being on patrol for more than an hour. Yet, here she was, still walking down the sidewalk. The first sign of trouble came from someone stealing a purse and running off. It didn't take long to track the guy down and apprehend him even if he used his quirk. There were countless menial crimes that she thwarted throughout the afternoon but none of them were especially difficult. Koeri thought about why the police couldn't handle something like this but she understood why she was sent. Having a known pro hero in the area would make others hesitant to misbehave if they knew she would be watching over them. The police were one thing but for villains with stronger quirks, a pro hero was definitely needed. She leaned up against the wall in an alleyway with her hood over her head as she let out a sigh. It was going to be a long day at this rate. Nothing interesting was happening at all.
Todoroki had built up a bit of a name for himself in the underworld. 'The Cold Prince who took down Endeavor' was what they called him. How long had it been since he defected to being a villain? How long since he'd seen his friends from high school? Well they probably weren't his friends anymore, nor did he like to address most of them as such, but the thoughts would linger in his mind when he had free time. Most of them graduated and became pro heroes just as they wanted, following their silly dreams of grandeur to 'change the world' by stopping petty crimes. Things weren't so black and white for him, he didn't become a villain just because he despised heroes. The system was broken and seemed to reward those who didn't deserve it, such as his father, and he sought to change it. A revolution of sorts by taking down the hero society. That was the main goal he had in mind but since he lacked proper income and rapport he needed a way to get by.
So he took to the underworld of the villain world. Selling specialized drugs, murdering when necessary, distributing illegal weapons, whatever it took to make sure he lived comfortably. He had his own place, an apartment in a district no one really ventures to, and was thriving by now. He did whatever it took, no matter the cost. Today was a special day because he was dealing with a particular client who would buy the quirk enhancer drug he got from Shigaraki for a handsome sum. The two weren't exactly friends, more like business partners. Shigaraki made the weapons, drugs, and resources while Shoto distributed them to the buyers. It was a beneficial relationship with no real consequences. They'd split the payments and be on their way.
He left his apartment heading into the inner city where the trade would take place. The buyer requested a certain location at a certain time so he made sure to be prompt. From just looking at him the boy didn't look like a villain. He looked like the average teenage boy with a blank expression and that was just how he liked it. Unsuspecting, unguarding, the perfect way to take down anyone who approached him. It wasn't a long trip to where he needed to be, not more than a ten-minute train ride, so he checked his phone again to be sure this was the place. In between the bakery and clothing store on Shinkai Street. Right. His gaze averted to the buildings seeing this was it but no one was here yet. Todoroki hated waiting since he was incredibly impatient. Why would someone request a specific time and not be here at that time? He found it terribly unreliable and would be sure to make it known if the person showed up. So while the time passed he leaned against the wall with his arms crossed waiting impatiently for the client to show themselves.
