The Northlands, or Farlands, are a dangerous yet beautiful, vast place. There are lots of forests, mountains and lakes in this area. It has a lot of history and has a population of 50K. 72% man, 28% other races. Five medieval nations are located here, who are known to fight over territory, resources and power. These five major factions are the Tynaven Kingdom, The Dominion, the Arthen Kingdom, The Eagle Clan and the Nation of Rendarr. The war started in 530, the 44th of Fall, nearly four years ago. The Northlands declared independence from the The Empire of Atera, after a long civil war. However, shortly after that the treaties that kept them in order was broken, and war broke out over who would control the North. Since then hundreds of lives have been lost, and the war continues to this very day.
The Tynaven Kingdom
The kingdom of Tynaven is a militaristic monarchy, ruled by kings and queens who are believed to have been blessed by the "gods." In their territory they have lots of wood and fish. With a population of 12K, they are centered in the east of the region and have a medium sized army. They are ruled by the human, royal Tynaven family who rule with an iron fist but still grant their people rights and respect, but responsibilities to come with them. They are trusted by their people and have a temporary trade alliance with the Dominion.
The Arthen Kingdom
The Arthen Kingdom is probably one of the strictest, strongest and worst kingdoms to live in. First of all, the elven royal family of Arthen are treated like gods, and have complete control over their people. Thieves, war prisoners and criminals are enslaved and forced to work until death. Men over the age of 20 must join their military, with a few exceptions such as family. The kingdom has access to iron and valuable minerals in their territory, and their weaponry is superior. They are located in the north, with a population of 14K and a large army, including mages.
The Dominion
The Dominion is a wealthy nation with lots of resources and is peaceful unless provoked. They are a democratic nation in which people vote for their leaders. The Lord, as they call them, are not bowed down to or kneeled before, but still highly respected. They are located in the south east, right by the water where they have access to fish and tons of farms, and a few mines. They have a medium sized military with decent weaponry, but not the best, still respected. They have a population of 11K and are in a temporary trade alliance with the Tynaven kingdom.
The Eagle Clan
The great and fierce Eagle Clan is thousands of years old. Determined to defend and expand their clan's strength, honour and traditions, this includes battling other groups for more territory and the sake of battle. They are led by the Elder a Council, where the elders and the experienced nobles govern their lands. Located far in the hidden valleys of the north, where few are able to survive, they have a population of 5K and a small army. Even though their army isn't necessarily strong, the warriors are trained from the day they can walk.
The Nation of Rendarr
Rendarr is an autocratic medieval nation. Ruled by a hierarchy of dictators who are referred to as the Overlord. Located in the center of the Northlands, they have a peaceful, large population. Even though it is a dictatorship civilians have rights and are free in general, but are to obey the overlord without question. They have lots of resources, but the biggest are farmed foods. However, they suffer from overpopulation due to a not very big amount of territory. This is one of the main reasons they fight against other factions. They have a very large army and a staggering population of 20K.
