Nation Building The New Empires Lore/Maps

The Empire of Aupax
Imperial City.jpg
The Empire of Aupax, on the continent of the same name, was a powerful empire whose population was primarily human. Although the use of magic was limited in the Imperial Military and the relative weakness of humans compared to other species, the Empire boasted the most well organized army on Ianerth.

The capitol city of Truphia was one of the first, if not the first, city on the continent of Aupax. From there, the city state expanded and invaded other city state's territories until the entire continent of Aupax was under their banner. This conquest did not come easy, however. Nearing its height, the Empire of Truphia, as it was then called, had two main rivals: the Kingdom of Ephonia, whose territory spanned most of the southern land mass of the continent, and the Kingdom of Blita, a large kingdom to the West of Truphia and North West to Blita.

The both the peoples of Ephonia and Blita were described as savages by the Truphians. The Blita practiced rituals of human sacrifice to please their god, whose name is not known. This practice disgusted many Truphians, even though the main entertainment in the empire was brutal gladiatorial combat. Soldiers of the Blita would charge recklessly into battle, not caring about their lives and only seeming to care about killing as much of the enemy as possible.

The Ephonians were described as the lesser of the two savages by the Truphians. Although they did not practice human sacrifice, their soldiers did fight savagely on the fields. One account even stated that the Ephonians charged into battle yelling like lunatics, causing an entire army of Truphians to panic and route.

The war that had eventually happened between the 3 started when the Blita invaded the Ephonians. While the two nations would fight, the Truphians would bide their time, waiting for the right time to strike. That time came when the main armies of the Blita and Ephonians clashed in a bloody battle, near the city of Ephonia. The Truphians took this opportunity to strike at the Blita homeland, within weeks, the city of Blita was surrounded and under siege. It would fall a few days later. After this victory, the Truphians moved to flank the main Blita army, who are waiting for reinforcements after the battle with the Ephonians, reinforcements that would never come. With both armies now crippled, the Truphians advanced and attacked, ending in a decisive victory for the Truphians. They would now advance onto Ephonia. The city surrendered the moment they saw the Truphians over the horizon.

Vliyeshi United Kingdoms
Elven City.jpg

The Vliyeshi United Kingdoms is widely considered to be the first of the seven kingdoms to be founded, due to the long lifespan and elevated intelligence of the Elves compared to most of the other races of Ianerth. The Elves of these lands are also masters at the magical arts. As a direct result of this the Vliyeshi army heavily uses magic when in combat.

The first Elven cities appeared on Vliyeshi decades before those of the first human cities on Aupax. Most of these cities then grew and made contact with one another, but instead of going to war, as the humans would do years later, the Elven kingdoms would form alliances with one another. Of course this did not stop a few power hungry kingdoms from waging war against their neighbors.

The first act of aggression would come from the kingdom of Khisomer, a kingdom that hails from the far South of the continent. The Khisomeri were not alone in their conquest, as they were joined by their allies, the Praeziven and the Haesta. The 3 powers would wage war against the rest of the continent, achieving victory after victory after victory. Their onslaught would come to a halt when a combined army of 8 other kingdoms met the agressors near the city of Axane, the future capitol of the VUK. The aggressors would be driven back to their home land. An armistice was signed, severly limiting the powers of all 3 nations. Shortly after the war, the remaining kingdoms would unite to form the Vliyeshi United Kingdoms. The kingdoms of Khisomer, Praeziven, and Haesta would join the VUK a few decades later, after their nations have fully recovered from the war and new leaders were put into power.

Nenia
For many years, Nenia was split in half by the nearby Empire of Aupax and Vliyeshi United Kingdoms. Both East and West Nenia thrived under their respective masters, but as more humans immigrated into the East and Elves to the West, more Nenians began to demand for independence. Citizens of both East and West made their respective governments respond to this growing independence movement. The Vliyeshi East appealed to the VUK to gain independence and unite with the Aupaxian West. The Vliyeshi United Kingdoms, after a period of discussion, let East Nenia have their freedom. The West, however, is a different story.

The West Vliyeshi government began to crack down on the independence supporters, of which there were many. These crackdowns eventually culminated in the Cegate massacre, Cegate being the capitol of West Nenia. This event would eventually spark a civil war in the West. Seeing their Western brothers being oppressed, the East Nenian government declared war upon the Western Government in order to support the rebels. The Eastern military mobilized and marched West. The first battle of the Nenian Unification War, as it has come to be called, was fought where the borders of the two nations meet. This battle was a massive defeat for the East, whose military was too inexperienced and small to challenge the much larger and experienced Western Army. The Easterners were forced to route and began performing nighttime raids and ambushes upon the Westerners in order to gain some sort of advantage.

While this was going on, the Aupaxian government met to discuss what to do regarding, what they call, the Nenian Situation. Eventually they came to a consensus, full scale invasion of the East. This to the VUK was seen as a threat, for they knew if the Aupaxians gained control of Nenia, their armies would be that much closer to the Vliyeshi homeland.

In response to the Aupaxian invasion, the VUK decides to intervene on the East's behalf. The civil war for unification of two halves of one island had become a full scale war between superpowers. The war, however, would not be resolved, as The Collapse would come weeks after the VUK intervenes.

The Realm of the Voring
Dark Tower.jpg
Wraitaqus was once the home of a proud species known as the Adrac. Not much is known about the Adrac, all that is known about them that they had ruled over the continent for decades, until one day when a species known as the Voring launched a massive, nationwide assault upon the cities of the Adrac. The attack commenced under the cover of nightfall, as the sun would prove deadly to them. As Adrac and Voring soldiers fought in the field, the Voring commanders had lost track of the time. The sun rise minutes later would cause the Voring's skin to blister and burn, which was immensely painful to them. An entire army that day was wiped out by the sun.

With their weakness now known, the Adrac began developing a spell that will utilize the sun's light as a weapon against the Voring. The Voring, meanwhile, were developing a spell of their own, one that would block out the sun and blacken the skies. The race to develop the spells were on. The outcome of the war hangs in the balance. The Voring were the ones to utilize their spell in battle. The spell could not be cast by normal means, so the Voring had constructed numerous small, mobile towers which would cast the spell into the air, temporarily blocking out the sun over the battlefield. It was because of these spell towers that the Voring had managed to beat the Adrac in the war for Wraitaqus.

As it exists now, Wraitaqus is a continent that never sees the light of day, due to the gigantic towers the Voring had constructed after their victory. The biggest tower, Vadgas, acts as the seat of power for the Voring. Remnants of Adrac architecture could still be seen in Vadgas, as it was once the center of the Adrac Empire.

Kingdom of the Dumuse
Dwarven City.jpg

Lying far to the South of Vliyesh and not a long ways away from the South Eastern coast of Wraitaqus lies the continent of Preuzias, homeland of the Dumuse. The Dumuse were a people whose culture was built around stone masonry, metallurgy, and mining. These "dwarves" as many have called them were arguably the most technologically advanced culture on Ianerth. Their most impressive feats are the creation of a strong metal alloy, named Durium, which surpasses the durability and strength of any and all currently existing metal alloy, and the creation of automatons, running on a combination of various mechanical parts and magic. These automatons range from worker drones to soldiers of war.

While their technology was, and still is impressive, their numbers are dwarfed by every other major empire on the planet. They have managed to stay out of conflict for the majority of their recorded history, but following the time shortly before the Collapse, the Realm of the Voring had decided it was time to attack. Their troops landed on the Western Coast of Preuzias, taking the Dumuse off guard. Their advance was swift at first, but as time went on the Dumuse started to push back. The war was never resolved however, as both empires collapsed during the Collapse

Osttrudian Tribes
Orcish City.jpg
Lying to the south of Aupax is the continent of Phikas, homeland of the Osttrudians. The Osttrudians built their society upon constant warfare with other groups, whether of their own kind or of one of the other two major species on the continent; the Ujims and Dreor. The Ujims are a species small in stature but very plentiful in number and are often used as a workforce in Osttrudian society. The Dreor, on the other hand, are giants with immense strength, but very few in number. These creatures are often utilized as tanks on the battlefield. Osttrudians themselves have are a bit more muscular than humans while, on average, being around the same height as them.

Osttrudian architecture is usually described as primitive and crude when compared to the human cities on Aupax or any other artificially made structure on Ianerth. This is because Osttrudian building are usually made of wood, hide, and, on occasion, bones of the local wildlife. Only the most important structures, such as a capitol of a city and some walls, are made of stone.

Unlike all the other empires of Ianerth, the Osttrudian Tribes were not lands owned and occupied by a single government or collection of states unified under the same banner, but lands owned and occupied by several different competing tribes across the continent. It is because of this structure that many believe the tribes collapsed due to conflict with one another during The Collapse.

Flegian Dominion
Carthaginian Naval Warfare.jpg
The Flegian Dominion was the strongest naval power on Ianerth before The Collapse. This had partly to do with the geography of the Flegian homelands: the Flegian Islands. Just as the name states, the Flegian Islands are a collection of islands not too far from eachother. As the islands have a relatively small land mass, it was, and still is, much more worthwhile to invest in a navy than in a ground army to the inhabitants of the islands.

The inhabitants of the central island eventually banded together to form the Flegian Dominion. Through time the Flegians had built themselves a considerable navy which the Flegians used to expand their empire. They first started off by occupying the nearby islands, whose native population was little to none. The Flegians then turned their sights onto the nearby continents of Ailiar and Iurax, which would prove to be a much greater challenge to occupy than the islands. On these continents lie two thriving civilizations. Initially, the Felgians decide to invade both continents at the same time, which would prove disastrous for them, as they had perceived the continents and the native population to be smaller than what they actually are. Both the Ailiar and Iuraxians managed to drive the Flegians out of their homelands. The Flegians would try again a total of 4 times before finally deciding to switch strategies.

Instead of engaging both the Ailiar and Iuraxians at the same time, they decided to concentrate all their forces on one then move on to the other after the first one was defeated. This strategy proved to be a success, as both civilizations fell to the Flegian Dominion.
