-The Story-
The earth is dying.
After decades of war, disease and climate disaster, the doomsday of humanity seems present and all but certain.

As the remaining world governments vie for what is left of the scrap heap, a few forward thinking super-trillionaires with an ambitious dream of continuing the existence of humanity pool their considerable resources and prepare a secret and enormous venture. Twelve massive colony ships are constructed, each equipped to support the lives of 200 men, women, and children on a voyage into the depths of space, each bound for an uninhabited earth-type planet with supplies, personnel, and arms to found a new human colony.

You are a member of the command team for New Eden Delta, the fourth of 12 ships. Your destination, the earth-type planet ZX-14. You will be responsible for helping to ensure the survival of the 200 colonists on board the ship.

As far as the New Eden initiative knows, the future Colony planets are not inhabited by intelligent beings, but there is little information on what threats may be lurking in the wild territories you will inhabit. You can remain in the relative safety of the colony ship, but there is no resupply ship to follow you. You must brave the dangers that await on ZX-14, or humanity's last hope will die with you.

-The Dying Earth-
In the year 2350, the coastlines vanished, in the year 2365, the fourth wave of the Helsinki Virus decimated a 10th of the global population, in 2373, the second great cyber war took more than a third of the information systems on the planet offline.

For four decades, climate scientists desperately tried to artificially reinforce the ozone layer to prevent the uninhabitable hot zones around the equator from spreading further into the vanishing farmlands along the tropical belt. Self sustaining supercities began to form on points high above sea level as more amore people retreated from the poisonous coasts to safe havens. Tenements piled on top of tenements as the borders of the supercities spread.

They called it the century of cataclysm. During these days, world governments collapsed. Some were absorbed by the Panamerican Politicorp, others by the Neo Chinese Empire after their successful annexation of the Third Soviet State. Some were purchased whole by private multi-trillionaires and fully corporatized.

Everyone knew that the habitable land would soon vanish, the artificial meat farms would give out, the medical supersystems would eventually fail to curb the tide of viral variants, and humanity would cannibalize itself in a desperate effort to sustain some kind of life.


-The Initiative-
The New Eden Initiative began in 2200 as a top secret experimental colonization project. Humanity had developed faster than light travel, but only for the purposes of a one way trip, due to the time warping properties of moving at FTL speeds, return to Earth would be infeasible and, even in the days before the cataclysm, those in power could see the writing on the walls, Earth was on an unstoppable doomsday clock.

Three multi-trillionaires, Gaius Armenia, Loo San Wing, and Alexandra Roshnikov, pooled their resources and began the construction and supply of 12 massive colony ships, each equipped to transport 200 colonists apiece to one of 12 habitable planets within range of earth via FTL flight. As the construction neared its completion, the only grandson of one of the founding members, Gaius Armenia III, began extending invitations to select individuals and families with the opportunity to join one of the colony ships. Gaius himself would be a passenger on the first of the twelve colony ships bound for Orion-13.

All 2400 passengers were sworn to secrecy and selected either for their unique skills or their reproductive health and resistance to one of the many viral and bacterial diseases ravaging what was left of earth. The goal of the initiative is to provide these distinct colonies of humans to settle on new worlds and restart human society with an opportunity to build new civilizations from all but scratch. While the colony will be equipped to get off to a strong start, it is assumed that the supplies and tools will eventually fail, be it in one generation or more, and the colony will need to be self sufficient.

-Colony Directives-
The colonies founded by the New Eden Initiative are held to a simple set of absolute directives.
1. Ensure the survival of the human race at any cost.
2. Elect a governing body of five colonists to organize the new colony and begin establishing laws for the protection and survival of the new society.
3. Explore and catalogue data on the new home of the human race.
4. Establish a stable food supply chain.
5. Be fruitful and multiply.

-ZX-14-

ZX-14 is an earth-type planet with roughly the same bio-spheres and seasonal patterns. It two moons cause greater tidal fluctuation and in certain parts of the planet there are more or less perpetual storms. The colony ship will settle on a large continent in the norther hemisphere in an area roughly equivalent to the American Rockies in terms of terrain and soil richness. Farming and ranching will be possible if local wildlife can be domesticated and hunting and trapping is feasible.


-The New Eden Delta Colony Ship-

The New Eden Colony ships are, essentially enormous cargo haulers outfitted with 200 cryosleep chambers and enough storage space for two years worth of supplies. They are designed to launch only once and to make one landing. Upon arrival they are little more than a multi billion dollar storage container.

-Med Station-
There is a medical station on the colony ship equipped for most emergencies and basic medical screenings.

-Supply Station-
A supply station where colonists can requisition survival gear, and other essentials.

-Food Storage-
A cryo-controlled food storage center that provides daily rations of nutrition bars. There is space there for storage of perishables found on the planet.

-Lab Station-
A laboratory space shared by the various members of the science team.

-Armory-
The ship is equipped with a full compliment of electromagnetic rail guns in both rifle and handgun configurations, as well as a full compliment of explosives for demolition and defense purposes, and Kevlar body armor and helmets. Armaments can only be requisitioned with the approval of two members of the command team.


-Colony Supplies-
The colony is equipped with two years worth of the following items, with the possibility of an additional two years worth of supplies to follow:

1. Food in the form of condensed nutrition bars. While they are not the most palatable source of food, they are packed with necessary nutrients. They are stored in cryocubes and wrapped in biodegradable wrappers.

2. Basic medical supplies to suit most needs.

3. 12 two passenger all terrain vehicles, each equipped with a trailer, with a supply of replacement parts.

4. 6 two passenger light flightcraft for scouting purposes. Similar to a large drone.

5. A full compliment of land survey equipment.

6. Seeds and fertilizer tablets for numerous food and medicine crops.

7. 6 Water purifiers with replacement parts.

8. A full compliment of hand and power tools for construction and farming purposes.'

9. Winter survival gear including parkas, gloves, insulated boots, insulated trousers, and personal heat generators.

10. Hand radios that run on solar charged batteries. These can be requisitioned for scouting or hunting excursions.

11. Cryogenically frozen genetic materials (sperm and unfertilized human eggs) for the purposes of artificial or in-vitro fertilization.

-Individual Supplies-

Survival dome: Each individual or family unit will be supplied with a mobile survival dome, a dome shaped hard tent equipped with solar panels, basic climate control, air filtering, single or double cots, a food storage crate and clothing container, and an attached shower booth and waste processing toilet that transforms waste into potable water and fertilizer tablets.

Survival Jumpsuit: A grey full body jumpsuit made of a tough material with a number of pockets. Each individual is given three jumpsuits and can requisition more at the supply center on the Colony ship. Come in male, female, and maternity cuts. Included are underwear, undershirts, socks and heavy duty boots.

Weather Poncho: A tough, weather proof hooded poncho with a dark camouflage pattern

Colony Tab: A military grade tablet computer that is used to access functions of the survival dome and colony ship. Different colonists are provided with different levels of access. Fits in the side pocket of the Colony jumpsuit.

Backpack: A heavy duty, weatherproofed rucksack

Water purifying bottle: A personal water bottle with a replaceable filtration system.

Solar Power Generators: A generator that can charge the colony tab and power the basic functions of the survival dome.
