The Museum of Metropolis

The Museum of Metropolis was located in the rich New Troy district of Metropolis, nestled comfortably between office towers and accountancy firms. It was an odd place to open a museum, but it always had a steady stream of visitors coursing through, peering through glass at various dioramas of past life. Today was different: an exhibit on 'The Natural Wonders of the Universe' was being unveiled, and hushed whispers suggested that somehow they'd obtained rare minerals for display. One of these rumoured materials was the elusive 'Nth Metal', which was almost impossible to find in large quantities as even a small amount could set you back millions.

Naturally, Lex was over the moon when he was invited to the opening, as he was one of the few celebrities that Metropolis had produced, and the only former president in the city. LexCorp was a large benefactor of the museum, which helped him to keep an air of kindness in the public eye. This could be at risk after that day.

Knowing that he'd be seen and photographed that day, Lex had put a bit more effort into his appearance with a perfectly tailored black suit, carefully polished shoes and a steel blue tie that he'd been told brought out his eyes. Various 'journalists' from the Daily Planet lined the street as he strolled down the pavement, shoving microphones and cameras into his face in an effort to distract him or provoke a reaction. Fools. Once inside, he was ushered toward the centre of a crowd where a small platform had been cordoned off with a red rope and a plush couch placed inside. Lex perched on it, eyes scanning through the crowd- so many 'heroes' had sprouted in Superman's shadow that he knew at least one would be invited to speak.

There was a superhero at the but she wasn't in costume. She smiled and posed for a picture with... what was her date's name again? Steve? Harold?, as Lois Lane shoved a microphone in her face.

"Miss Bates! Are the rumours that Clairvoyant is being financed by your company's resources true?"

Morgan Bates ignored the question. "Miss Lane. Wonderful to see you too. I have a museum opening to go to. Let's get coffee later."

She honestly wasn't sure why she was invited. It was probably more to do with the next exhibit being planned. Rumour was it was going to be about Big Data and how humans gathered information throughout history.

She noticed many familiar faces but one popped out to her right now. "Lex!" She greeted and giggled. LexCorp and Avalon had collaborated on many projects together but still... something about him always seemed weird to him yet she was obligated to be friendly. There were rumours Lexcorp has a giant IT project coming up and she didn't want to lose that contract to Logres. "How are you doing?"

"Oh hi, Morgan." Recently this 'hero' had been really getting in his way, and he'd risked exposing his hidden motives behind the new LexCorp project. Whenever anyone caused him any issues, he would either make them disappear (an impossible feat for a superhero) or do his research on the hero until he could spot them from the top of the LexCorp tower. After all, he had access to most of the security cameras in Metropolis so nobody could hide forever.

A wide grin spread across his face as Lex leaned forward, propping his elbows up on his knees and rested his chin on his laced fingers. "But I'm feeling pretty great, excited for this exhibit. How are you feeling today?"

The fact that he was aware of her identity filled him with additional confidence, glad that he had the power safely in his hands. It would probably help to seal the deal between their companies now that he had the upper hand, and allow him to get the upper hand during negotiations. After all, it'd be a shame if the Daily Planet discovered Clairvoyant's true identity and began making a hassle of her.

It was easier for Lex to not bother bringing a date, as it would spark rumours about marriage, children or cheating, no matter whether he cared about them or not. It was difficult for him to find anyone he truly gave a shit about, especially considering his unorthodox approach to life and morals, so it was easier to be alone.
