Clarissa sits in her cell singing to her unborn child "Let's go in the garden you'll find something waiting right there where you left it... Everything stays right where left it but everything changes in little ways." Prince Leon interrupts "I'll make sure I sing that to him when he's born... It probably won't sound as good," he says standing outside of her cell. Clarissa puts her hands on her back as she tries to stand with her now well-exposed baby bump "He's a strong boy, nonstop moving I hope you sing to him and show him the love that I won't be able to. I know my days are numbered but, Leon please don't let her majesty kill him I'm the monster not him." Leon grabs Clarissa's hands "I and Irina will raise him as our own she's my wife and I've told her the truth, and her majesty would never think to harm a child." Clarissa lets go of his hands "She has nothing to lose and I am the source of her anger... I feel tired leave me please." Leon steps back "I will protect him, trust me I promised," Leon walks away as Clarissa holds her stomach and continues singing as tears roll down her cheek.

Clarissa was soon summoned for court, she put on the dress Leon got made for her and walked down the halls with her head held high and her arms around her stomach. People whispered horrible things and Clarissa just hummed to her child, she didn't want him to hear such things. Upon entering the throne room Clarissa was ordered to kneel to the Queen. "I bow to no woman I only bow to the king," she said looking at Leon. She watched as he motioned for her to kneel and did as he said the Queen motioned for her to talk "I am Clarissa a humble servant who was blessed with many things other servants couldn't imagine. But I am a servant, not a slave for years I was used as a pawn by my mother and used as a prostitute. I have no regrets for what I did but, my child shouldn't have to suffer for my sins."

Queen Alena of France

The Queen Lays in her chamber holding her stomach crying as much as her husband hurt her she still loved him months later and it still feels like his death was yesterday. She reminisced about the time they had a family picnic when she was pregnant with Aline and Willow was getting dragged around by Leon. Alena couldn't bring herself to hate Clarissa but keeping her alive would have everyone challenging France's power. Alena summoned her servants who dressed her "Nothing too bright I'm still in mourning..." The servants dressed her in all black she had worn nothing but black since King Williams's death. The Queen sits in the throne room will Leon at her side "William..." She said catching herself "Leon you know what I have to do," She watches as Leon nods thinking they are on one accord. Everyone sits in the throne room when Clarissa is escorted in the Queen stands and everyone stands showing respect "Kneel before me," The queen says but Clarissa refuses and Alena watches her kneel once Leon motions for her to kneel. "Your life is in my hands yet you only take orders from the prince. Speak while you still have my pity," The Queen sits and everyone sits after her.

Prince Leon of France

portrait preview
The Prince sat on the throne next to his mother with his wife right beside him. He grabs Princess Irina's hand giving her a reassuring smile that everything would work out. Leon was excited for the trial to end he wanted to help with Willow's wedding, help Aline pick a suitor, and hold his son in his arms he was ready for peace. Leon sat and listened to Clarissa's speech and looked to his mother for her response. "Sir Peyre, at dawn, have her head, " the Queen said as she stood "Letting you live would be seen as an act of treason and the children will always have to pay our sins." Leon let go of Irina's hand and stood in front of Clarissa "Taking her head while she's carrying my child will declare an act of war, I will spare no cost to ensure you'll meet the same fate," Leon looked at Peyre and motioned for him to stand down. "I am your Queen and that is a demand, And you dare to threaten me," the queen looked at him with a face of astonishment. "You felt the pain of losing my brother yet you threaten the life of my son, that's a declaration of war." The room fills with tension as the Queen and Leon go back and forth when Clarissa kneels before the queen's feet "Please..." The Queen sits "My people have just been freed from war I won't cause a civil one over a servant." Leon helps Clarissa up and walks back to the throne "I wouldn't have allowed it to go that far, I am not my father and yes you sit on the throne now as Queen Reagent but I am its heir, and its true king." Leon sits next to Irina as the Queen clears her throat "After some tea will resume morning activities by welcoming the newcomers..."

Irina Anhalt-Zerbst

It was official now, Leon and Irina were officially wed and she became his consort here in France. All of her things were fully moved into the palace just a few days ago. And although as happy she was about the wedding, she knew that the country was still in a state of mourning over the late King William. To respect tradition, Irina dressed in a black dress with gold embroidery that resembled flowers. It was quite a structured dress and not much of a very flowy skirt. With the corset she was wearing, it appeared her had a sort of hourglass figure. She decided not to bring her sword along since she assumed she wouldn't be able to train until much later in the day.

Today was another official appearance court, but unlike most days, they were also meeting for a quite serious matter. It was regarding Clarissa and the child. Of course Irina knew the truth about the matter, but the rest of the world was still under the assumption that the child was Leon's. As she entered the room, she steeled her nerves as she readied herself for this. Readying herself to declare this child as a bastard of her husband, readying herself for all the rumors, and most importantly, readying herself to be a mother at this age.

She moved towards Leon and Queen Alena and performed a curtsy to them both before taking her place beside Leon. Feeling him grab her hand, she looked at him and the reassuring smile he gave her put her more at ease. But things escalated incredibly quickly. As Leon let go of her hand, she was ready to follow him to protect him. But she stayed in her place, not wanting to make more of a scene than what was already going on, but she watched out for any incoming threats from all of this commotion. But soon it was over, with the Queen calling a tea break.

Once Leon sat, she turned to him and held his hand before softly saying, "You did well. I'll support any decision you make, even if that means a war." She reassured him. Beckoning a nearby servant, she kindly asked for some tea for her and Leon. Giving a cup of tea to him, she offered, "If you wish I can do the talking from here. You needn't worry about trivial matters, my love."

Lady Margaret Chaussy
With all the changes in the kingdom, Margaret knew she'd been moving into a different scenario than she'd bargained for. The demise of her dear king brought her so much hurt, and her heart was broken for the royal family. However, she was more than relieved to hear that the two countries were now going to be at peace with the new marriage.

Now, while most noblewomen coming into the palace had the aspirations of joining the monarchy, Margaret's heart was set on something entirely different. She was solely there with the dreams of finding a husband. It was like taking a shot in the dark, yes. Margaret though was determined she'd find at least something. She knew since she had arrived she'd fit in perfectly with the royals. Margaret was raised with old money, so this wasn't going to be impossible for her. Just after Princess Irina made her court appearance is when Lady Margaret was brought into the castle. Everything about the experience was surreal and enamoring. This was every little girl's dream, and she just couldn't believe she was one of the lucky women to fulfill it. Although being a concubine wasn't something she was entirely proud of, she knew things could look up to her, especially with this new living arrangement. Margaret knew she'd have a lot to learn; palace life was nothing like the life she led as "the little princess with daddy's money", now she was in with the elites, and life won't be handed to her on a silver platter. Margaret knew for a fact that compared to the women above, she was nowhere close to touching them. This wasn't something that would bother her although, as she wasn't one to be competitive. She was grateful enough to even be there.

Her bedroom was probably the most exciting thing. As soon as she walked in, she was absolutely dumbfounded. Everything down from the baby blue wallpaper, to the grandiose arches and French renaissance ceiling decor. She loved everything about it and was looking forward to all of the great opportunities this new lifestyle had for her. She decided to settle in immediately, having servants unpack her luggage. Margaret decided to take a look at the library and scope out its selection of romance novels. She quickly found herself lounged on a velvet loveseat, nose buried in a whirlwind romance.

Jeanne Martin

The seat behind the wagon was more comfortable then the atmosphere in it. The few quiet murmurs of some, mixed with long period of silence and withdrawal. She didn't feel like talking about who they would serve either. She, well, any of them wouldn't have been engaged if they were the kind to easily gossip she guessed.

When Jeanne received the proposition
–from her now old employer–
the venerable Dame Margaret, it felt sudden. And dangerous. The Royal castle needing so many new servants in such a short delay was unusual in itself. But what worried her more was that their implicit request of being in need of "discreet and reliable" servants even reached the Baroness she served.

She blushed at Dame Margaret more than positive recommendation letter but quietly she didn't want to go at first. Dream of prince, wealth and royalty were never her kind and all she could see was danger.

According to her mother, when noble ask for such things, it means scandals, secrets, and high pay. Money Jeanne could not turn away. Thrice her salary while being fed, clothed and housed is every maid dream.

Her mom knew it too and despite the mixed emotions on her face, Jeanne knew she understood her choice. Oh ! How she would miss her the young girl lamented. Of course she would miss her dad and brother too. But during the three years working at the Baroness manor, it was Jeanne mother who advised and helped her with the more social part of a maid work. As luckily for her Dame Margaret domain was close to the one her mother had worked in for years.

Thinking of all the blunders she avoided thank to her mother made her smile.
"Learning maid work is easy, Jeanne." Her mom would often say. "It's women work with a few extra steps. I taught it to you since you where a babe !" She would chuckle a bit before growing more serious. "But being a maid ? That, you learn, and when you think you know enough, you learn again."

As the three years at the Baroness mansion flew by, Jeanne understood her mother words. Half the time she was working, and half the other time consisted of managing her relationship with Dame Margaret and the rest. Gauging if she was in a good or sour mood before announcing news, knowing how to frame certain informations to guests in order to keep the privacy of her masters but not make them lose face, fulfilling their more "private" requests, on and on it never stopped. Truly a job of it own she thought and shook her head.

The letter did not say who she and the others would serve but she could wager it was someone important. Someone controversial. Someone like the prince Leon former mistress. Clarissa Wulfhild. The contains of the letter did not do any effort at hiding it when they asked for people familiar with baby and children. A thing Jeanne had told Dame Margaret as she had many young counsins beside her brother of whom she helped take care of.

As the wagon arrived at it destination, Jeanne took a deep breath and braced herself for what was to come.

Peyre's world had been slammed around and misaligned. He was very loyal to the royal family, and now this huge scandal occurred. He was genuinely glad that Leon told him to stand down because Clarissa was barely not a child and it was the young soldiers who died that haunted him. He might not have shown it often, but this affected him deeply.

Also, had you looked closely at Peyre's face while Leon and the queen were yelling at each other, you would've noticed that his face was screwed up, almost as if he was scared. People yelling made him think of war, for some reason he could never quite figure out. And now, he ha to choose a side between his mother and brother figure. He desperately wanted to leave, but couldn't. He closed his eyes, inhaling and exhaling to try to make his fear less noticeable.

He hoped none of the nobles were happy about the drama that had erupted because that was a screwed-up thing to be happy about. He'd come pretty close to snapping.

Leona Dubois

I went from being a fish swimming in what was like a never-ending river to taking a deep gasp of air, it hurt, and I cried. I was handed to a woman who was less than enthused that I had been born a gender like her own. She cried out “It was supposed to be a boy,’ as I looked into her brown eyes, I saw the disappointment in them. I felt as I slipped out her arm her eye never breaking contact nor did mine. I braced myself for impact with the pavement when I felt the warmth I looked over and I was in the arms of a man who held me tightly. He looked at the woman with a look of disappointment but said words filled with compassion.

As we exited the room, I drifted to sleep I dreamed of a woman singing to me. It was the same song I heard as swam through the river I felt warmth and comfort. When I opened my eyes, I was greeted with bright red ones and this woman held me closely. I reached my hand out wanting to touch her, but I was too weak, I wanted to speak but only coos would come out. I began to cry out of frustration when I really wanted to say thank you. She comforted me as I cried and whispered, “It’s okay.” The man stood behind her and kissed her on the cheek I finally understood that these were my parents.

Leon Dubois

“Happy birthday,” the servant said as she woke Leon however today there was an event more significant than his birthday. The birth of his son, Leon dressed and rushed to Clarissa's side when he was interrupted by the queen. “Execution day,” the queen said in a cheerful tone. “It’s my birthday and the birth of my son,” he said as he frowned. “The birth of your bastard is nothing to be proud of,” Leon looked at Queen with an irritated expression “You leaving today is the best gift I’ve ever been given,” Leon walked away. Leon arrived and heard it was supposed to be a boy as he turned the corner, he saw the infant falling he rushed over to catch her. Leon looked into the infant’s eyes and was instantly in love “Clarissa, today is execution day you will be given an honorable burial and I will tell our daughter about you.” Leon heard Clarissa calling out as he left the room, but it had to be done. He carried the infant out and motioned for the guards to enter the room. Leon walked into his chambers and handed Leona to Irina he had to oversee Clarissa's execution.

A guard whispered to Leon letting him know the queen left the palace. Leon and a group of others walked to the garden for Clarissa's execution. Leon stood in the background as the executioner beheaded Clarissa, it was a quiet execution and Leon made sure she received an honorable betrayal in a place where her daughter could visit. Before Leon could mourn he was summoned to a meeting with Daniel "Happy birthday, Congratulations, and sorry for your loss," Daniel said as he hugged Leon. Leon smiled "Thanks brother, You've called this meeting about our children's engagement ." "Yes, this would ensure a long alliance and because of my father's fondness for Alexander, he is actually third in line for the throne. With France backing his claim Leona could be a queen one day." Leon sits at the table "Yes, I'd have to talk to Irina about it with the death of Clarissa war with my mother she's pretty much Leona's mother."

Daniel sighed "Look at it this way, Aline will ultimately side with your mother and become an heir to Scotland. Your mother is next in line and Aline is her favorite child so unless you can turn Aline against your mother, you are harboring a child that could potentially be a Queen and go to war with you over year of neglect. Alexander is the King of Spain's third-in-line heir and is part Russian, Irina being Russian can teach him what his mother didn't have the opportunity to. Leona the daughter of Leon and Irina the rulers who ended years of war, with their Alliance that's Spain, Russia, and France all united! Not to mention if you can get your sister to marry the king of Denmark." Leon stands and rubs his eye "I have to talk it over with Irina."

The two walk into the throne room together where Leon is greeted with a loud "SURPRISE"

Irina Anhalt-Zerbst

Today was the day, Clarissa execution was scheduled for today, but that wasn't the event in the front of her mind. Today was the day of Leon's birthday, her husband's birthday. She helped plan a small surprise to happen earlier today, which would happen in the throne room. She hoped it all went well.

Luckily, she was able to catch Leon before he went to the execution. Looking at her husband with the infant girl in his arms, she couldn't help but smile, the pair looks quite adorable. She knew Leon would be a great father, all she could hope for is that she could be a great mother as well. Once Leon handed Leona to her, she cradled her with care as the child cried, she lulled her as she rocked the child saying that it was okay as Leona cried, humming a lullaby that Irina's mother sang to her when she was a child. With Leon then kissing her cheek, they really did look like a family.

Once Leon set off for the execution, she bid him goodbye and got to work. She had to make sure the surprise was perfect, Leon was finally turning 18 and his coronation would come any day now. Wearing a nice red dress with golden accents, she made her way to the throne room, calling some of the servants, to help set up things.

She set Leona down on the throne, with a toy in her hand to play with as she looked around the room. The decorations were set up, the kitchen's food was being set out and the smell was heavenly, everything looked perfect. After talking to some servants to smooth out some details, she walked back to Leona. Sitting down on the floor, she was eye level to Leona. She played with her for a bit, smiling and laughing a bit as she did.

But soon a servant came running into the room, announcing that Leon was coming. She picked up Leona and said sweetly, "Your father is going to come into the room and we're going to surprise him, ok?" She smiled before telling everyone to get into their places. Hearing the door open, Irina was standing with Leona in her arms in front of the thrones.

In tandem with everyone, Irina loudly greeted Leon with a "SURPRISE!"
