Plot:

The kingdom of Yewgren is known for it's odd culture, religiousness and draconian laws. Most of them are worshippers of Silgrun, the goddess of the forest and their beliefs prevent them from eating meat under threat of a death sentence. Even the usage of magic can come with an execution. However, they honor an ancient contract with a folk called the Carrioneaters, literally named after the fact they eat carrion. Compared to normal people, they have sharp teeth and are taller. The Carrioneaters can eat meat, as long as the animal wasn't killed, and use magic. But in turn, they provide Yewgren with healing services, protection and prosperity through blessings such as blessing forests and crops. The contract between Yewgren and the Carrioneaters is said to be thousands of years old. Legends say that without the Carrioneaters services, Yewgren would turn back into a fruitless desert as it may have once been thousands of years ago. And past progroms against the Carrioneaters had been followed by severe droughts and desolation of the land. Therefore, Carrioneaters remain protected and harm against them is treated as if one were to harm a noble.

However, despite their vital role to the nation, they may pose a severe threat due to their use of magic as there is a sort of illness that comes about when magic is used excessively. Carrioneaters who use excessive magic run the risk of becoming a Manadrunken. Most Manadrunken are feral creatures with grey skin and black eyes. They feed on the flesh of humans and elves and use bursts of mana attacks against their victims. Feral Manadrunken eventually succumb to the illness as their body gets rapidly used up by the mana. But til they succumb it can be months or years. Additionally, not all Manadrunken are feral. The ones who arent feral pose an even greater threat as they can mask themselves and deceive. Sapient Manadrunken are possibly the embodiment of evil and they can be identified by their glowing eyes and hair. Past reports of them describe them as "angelic" or "demonic" depending on with which magic they went out of control with. Usually the trigger magic is a magic the user most used. Also the gods linked to the certain magics influence their behavior and appearance:

Aeva - healing - goddess of life. The Manadrunken manifestation of Aeva, Avea, seeks to destroy all worshippers of Silgrun within and outside of Yewgren. Healing magic can be used to distort and warp bodies and create illness and make hearts stop. Blond or silver hair and red eyes.

Farud - fire - god of fire. Manadrunken manifestation seeks to burn all life and eliminate the followers of Sigil. Red hair and red eyes.

Sigil - water/ice - god of the clouds and the ocean. Manadrunken manifestation seeks to have the ocean conquer the lands or at least eliminate the followers of Farud. White or blue hair and blue eyes.

Silgrun - earth/plant - goddess of the forest. Manadrunken manifestation seeks to destroy humans and elves in their entirety so that the forest can reconquer the land. Brown hair and green eyes.

Dabrid - air - god of the heavens. Manadrunken manifestation seeks to have the dragons and birds gain superiority. White hair and orange or light blue eyes.

Ovez - darkness - god of death and shadows. Manadrunken manifestation seek to spread undeath and corruption and create a permanent night. Black hair and blue or black eyes.

There has been an unprecedented increase Manadrunken cases, almost as if someone is trying to purposely trigger them and trying to cause chaos and death in the kingdom. If that is the case, then they need to be stopped before it brings the death of the nation or kills off the Carrioneaters.

Factions:

Yewgrenians: Religious and strict. Due to their strict belief in Silgrun, they follow a strict code. It forbids them to use magic or eat meat. Though in the past they were strongly opposed to the Carrioneaters, they have grown dependent of the Carrioneaters and vice versa. Yewgrenians, both humans and elves are smaller than Carrioneaters and dress modestly. Married people among Yewgrenians cover their head either with a hat or headscarf. Yewgrenians face death sentences if they eat meat, use magic or intentionally harm Carrioneaters or Yewgrenian nobles (self-defense is allowed but should aim to stop violence).

Carrioneaters: Carrioneaters are sharp toothed and mostly of human decent, though some elvish Carrioneaters exist. Carrioneaters are also taller than Yewgrenians. They exist to fulfill duties Yewgrenians aren't allowed to do. They are supplied food and services by the Yewgrenians in turn for their services. The services include magical duties such as healing and blessing crops, leading rituals/assisting religious services, protection and diplomacy. They follow their own code and have to turn over Yewgrenian criminals to Yewgrenian authorities, even when the victim was a Carrioneater. In an effort to control the Carrioneater population, Carrioneaters are not allowed to have more than three living children. If a child lacks ability or has a disability, Carrioneaters may have four living children. Carrioneaters are also visible less modest in dress than Yewgrenians. Married Carrioneaters wear long adorned hair regardless of gender. Unmarried Carrioneater dont adorn their hair and may have shorter hair.

Foreigners: Foreigners are rare due to strict border controls and Yewgrenian society being kind of xenophobic. Most foreigners found in Yewgren are merchants and wandering traders. Most of the foreigners come from the surrounding nations: Queendom of Bluerock, Roenhaven Confederation, Kingdom of Noress, Avelathi Empire and Sinhamn Republic.

Playable species: Humans and elves.

Setting:

Yewgren: Yewgren is a kingdom that is almost completely covered by forests. In the middle of the land there is a big lake. The capital of Grenvue is located on a plateau on the northside of the lake. In the north of the land there are rolling forested hills, whereas the south contains green mountains. The east is mostly flat and the unforested west is used for agriculture. It is said that five thousand years ago, the land was an inhospitable desert to which the Yewgrenians fled to after a series of persecution, but then the Carrioneaters who at the time were physically no different from the Yewgrenians blessed the land to make it fruitful. From then on, the Yewgrenians were dependent on the heretics who eventually became a vital part of their society.

Starting point: The township of Deerroot. It is located on the southern shore of the lake just before the mountains. Population is around 3000. Leader of the township is Baron Amad Sindfot. There are around 100 Carrioneaters in the township. Outlying villages rely on the services of the township as they rarely have their own Carrioneaters.
