Rules
01. This roleplay is for those who can write around 2 paragraphs; we're not aiming for novella, but a little detail is appreciated! Quality is appreciated over quantity, though.
02. There is no posting order, but players are expected to post at least once a week. If you can't, please just let me know; life happens and I'll always be understanding about it. This rule is just to keep the group running smoothly and avoid stalling due to ghosting. There may be a posting order in the case of some events, but it won't be a constant thing.
03. Be polite OOC and engage with other players; I want this to be a fun experience in and out of character! While characters can be rude to each other, players shouldn't be.
04. This RP is not first come first serve; I may accept characters right away or deny them (which if I do, you can feel free to ask for me to tell you whats wrong with the sheet so you can fix it). Please send me characters through PMs at first! Its easier to talk there, and only accepted characters will be put in the CS thread.
06. Real life FCs and descriptions are accepted; please do not use anime or drawings.
07. Have fun, above all, because that's why we're here

    HEALTH
Wylie has severe low muscle tone, along with several other undiagnosed physical disabilities. This had led to him having a difficult time building up muscle, as well as his ligaments being looser than normal. His right leg and ankle are weaker than the left and have a tendency to give out, leading to his use of a cane despite not needing it all the time. There are other little things as well; when he's tired, his hands sometimes have muscle spasms, and his head tilts to the left without him realizing. When he was younger, he couldn't move his eyes well, meaning to look around he had to physically turn his head towards things. He's since had eye and physical therapy to help with that.
    APPEARANCE

Wylie is 5"4, with warm-beige skin slightly-wavy black hair down to his shoulders that he usually wears up in a ponytail with bobby pins and hair clips keeping it out of his face while he works. He's basically a conglomerate of sharp edges- boney elbows and a sharp jawline and a frame that would probably make any grandmother worth their salt tell him he needs to eat more. His hands are calloused despite his best efforts from helpings his aunt out so often with building things and working on stuff in his own time.

He has a scar across his right cheek from messing with the Fire Watchers a couple of years back. He has his ears pierced, and got a pac-man tattoo on his left shoulder on his 18th birthday.

Wylie's style varies from day-to-day, depending on his activities. If he's planning to get some work done, he wears things that can get oil stains on them, like a plain tank-top and an old pair of jeans. On other days, he usually wears things like high-waisted acid-washed jeans, patterned short-sleeve button downs, and his blue members-only jacket. He usually wears black stud earrings, a swatch watch, and is nearly never without his cane unless forced. On bad days, he can be seen wearing cloth knee and ankle braces.

Name: Wylie 'Bugs' Goh

Age: 18

Gender/Pronouns: Cis Boy (He/Him)

Sexuality: Bisexual

Grade: Senior

Description: Wylie is 5"4, with warm-beige skin slightly-wavy black hair down to his shoulders that he usually wears up in a ponytail with bobby pins and hair clips keeping it out of his face while he works. He's basically a conglomerate of sharp edges- boney elbows and a sharp jawline and a frame that would probably make any grandmother worth their salt tell him he needs to eat more. His hands are calloused despite his best efforts from helpings his aunt out so often with building things and working on stuff in his own time.

Body Mods/Scars: He has a scar across his right cheek from messing with the Fire Watchers a couple of years back. He has his ears pierced, and got a pac-man tattoo on his left shoulder on his 18th birthday.

Clothing Style: Wylie's style varies from day-to-day, depending on his activities.

Health: Wylie has severe low muscle tone, along with several other undiagnosed physical disabilities.

Personality:
+ Intelligent | Wylie is good at what he puts his mind to, which is most sciences and mathematics. His photographic memory helps, along with the fact that he's been helping his aunt build things since he was younger, contributing to his understanding of how things work. He's not the best at history or English, but that's likely because they don't hold his interest long enough for him to actually put his best foot forward.
+ Caring | While he can be awkward, ultimately Wylie has a lot of compassion. He tries to help people when he can, even if some of that is driven by the fact he can't stand seeing things going wrong, even if the problem isn't his own.
+ Passionate | He gets into his work. Like, really gets into it. If given the chance around people he likes, he will go on and on about what he's doing, explaining what it is, what it does, how it does what it does, etc. He does clam up around people he isn't used to, but even then, if someone asks him about what he's doing he's likely to go off on a tangent.
- Perfectionist | Everything has to be perfect, and if he doesn't get it right the first time around, he gets frustrated. He won't submit anything that he doesn't consider to meet his standards and he's given up on projects that don't work exactly the way he imagined. It's effected his time management skills a lot, not to mention that he obsessively takes over group projects.
- Easily Frustrated/Embarrassed | Wylie doesn't deal well with things going wrong, whether its his program malfunctioning or his leg giving out and causing him to tumble down a staircase in front of his peers.
- Socially Awkward | As can be expected of someone who spends most of his time with robots, Wylie has a hard time with people. He has a tendency to plan out conversations and responses in his head and flounder when said conversations don't go the way he expected. He does try his best, though, even if he's better at working out how robots function than living things.

Hobbies: Wylie builds robots, both on the mechanical side and the coding side. He frequents the junkyard often, taking what he can when he can, and has been known to abscond with things from the school to reuse them in his own projects, though its mostly little things that have already been broken. He built a small robot lovingly called Scoots that he has help him when he needs it. He also dabbles in art, but mostly blueprints and scientific drawings, since he learned by drawing and re-drawing blueprints he saw in his aunts possession. He's also a pretty big fan of arcade games.

Habits: Wylie talks with his hands, a lot. He's been known to accidentally hit people while explaining things. He paces when he's nervous and has destroyed the erasers of many pencils by absentmindedly chewing on them. He doodles while in class because its one of the few ways he can stay focused; generally speaking, he needs his hands to be moving constantly or he'll be anxious.

Problem: After being fired from the Epsilon Loop research department by DART for reasons unknown a few months back, Wylie's legal guardian and aunt Judith Goh disappeared. That's not exactly Wylie's problem, though; he knows she's still around the town somewhere, based on the fact that someone's still restocking his fridge somehow. No, his problem is that after she left, he went through her things and found files upon files of different things about Loop projects, the town, and other such things. He's been trying to decipher it all and figure out what the different blueprints he found are for, and why exactly DART fired her; he has an inkling the two are connected, and the fact she disappeared makes him think that finding out is important.

Drive: Wylie is, as his aunt used to say, a fixer. He can't stand things being broken, whether its malfunctioning machines or less physical problems. If something isn't right, it nags at him a bit until he tries to fix it, even if it isn't his problem to fix. This leads to him getting involved in other people's business and issues, along with going out of his way to investigate matters in the town.

Public Image: Wylie is pretty well-known within the school. Recently, his claim to fame is being the student head of the robotics club & team; the nickname coined for him around school is Bugs, for both 'bugs bunny' (due to his first name being shared with Wylie Coyote) and the spyware technology.

Background: Wylie has been living with his aunt since he was young. He never really knew his parents, just that he left and Aunt Judith took him in and there they were. Judith never liked to talk about them and eventually he gave up on asking. Originally, they lived in Boulder, where Judith worked at the Delta Loop as the head of a project. He didn't really gather many friends, making the transition easier when they moved to Allgood when he was around 7. He was homeschooled til age 10, which was when his aunt took on more projects at the Epsilon Loop, leaving her less time to teach him. So, he moved to public school.

When he was 12, he ended up getting the scar on his cheek from hanging around the perimeter of one of the Loop topside research areas and having a run in with a Fire Watcher that he may or may not have provoked at the encouragement of his friends at the time. At 13, he started helping more with his aunt's projects, and they collaborated in making a small robot to help him with things. It was dubbed Scoots and was used to fetch things for Wylie when he couldn't do it himself. Scoots is still functioning and Wylie does maintenance on him often to keep it that way, since the robot has become his near-constant companion sans while he's at school. At 15, he became the president of the robotics club and has kept the title to present day. Not that there are any competitions to go to; there's really no schools in a travelable distance to compete against. A few months before he turned 18 (his current age), his aunt was fired from the Epsilon Loop and went missing, leaving Wylie to fend for himself for the most part. Since that point, he's been spending his free time looking into the files she left behind in attempts to figure out what's going on and how to fix the situation.

Important Friends/Family:
Judith Goh | Aunt | Former lead scientist on many projects at the Epsilon Loop, current disgraced & missing scientist

Inter-character Relationships: N/A for the moment; open for discussion!

  • Name: Justice R. Bright

    Age: 17

    Gender/Pronouns: Male | He/Him

    Sexuality: Bisexual

    Grade: 12th grade | Senior

Description: With dark, mocha skin and a height of 5’9, Justice usually stands out in a crowd. He is incredibly expressive, mostly because he’s had to exaggerate his expressions for most of his life to express himself properly, and because he just doesn’t care about people seeing his emotions. Justice doesn’t really have a lot of hair either, with just a light amount of dark black fuzz dusting the top of his head, sides shaved to the bristles. Justice’s face leans a little more on the softer side, rounder around his cheeks, but his body is anything but soft. J is lean, muscle getting more prominent at his legs and softening around his torso. The reason for J’s surprisingly toned body is simply because he likes being active. Justice enjoys exerting himself, and it’s for that reason that he bikes to school.

    Body Mods/Scars: None.

Clothing Style: If a single word could describe Justice’s sense of style, it’d be light. Justice doesn’t usually carry a lot on him, just his signature blue backpack, and he only wears a watch on his right wrist. Justice really favours solid colour t-shirts and shorts, as well as tank tops. Since he’s really active, so he tends to wear clothes that let him move around a lot, so baggy or overly fitting clothes aren’t things he enjoys wearing.

Name: Shotaro Sanada, but also goes by Shaun. While his parents and family use his Japanese name, all others use his more American-sounding name which he prefers.

Age: 17

Birthday: March 3

Gender/Pronouns: Male. He/Him

Sexuality: Gay (closeted)

Grade: 12th Grade/Senior

Height and Weight: six feet tall and weighing 195 pounds

Description: Broad-shouldered with a muscular build. His face is square-shaped, and his eyes are dark brown. He has black hair, and his preferred haircut style is the high fade quiff.

Body Mods/Scars: None

Clothing Style: Wears crisp blue jeans and Henley shirts of various colors. His most favorite color is teal. Lots of his shirts are teal or green. Often wears his letterman jacket when the weather is right. It has his last name in ribbon script like all letterman jackets. Unlike how he styles himself in school life, the ribbon underneath proudly displays the name of Shotaro. He takes great care of the jacket because it symbolizes his status at Allgood High. His favorite workout attire consists of grey gym shorts and lime green tank.

Personality:
Positives
+ Charitable: He often offers any pocket change to those in need. Has been known to help neighbors who need an extra pair of hands. He tries his best to insist on free of charge but will grudgingly accept cash payment after a certain point. He would rather be “paid” with something to eat or drink.
+ Listener: People have been known to approach Shotaro to get his opinion on things that are on their minds.
+ Serenity: An angry Shotaro is rare and he saves his aggression for football. He meditates often and tries to set aside a moment every evening for meditation.

Negatives
- Arrogant: He believes in his own hype as a star running back and sees himself as a samurai. The field and times may be different as well as the rules, but the spirit lives on.
- Sarcastic: He tries to be witty, but the way he conveys himself come across as anything but.
- Vanity: He doesn’t mind getting dirty or scuffed up when the situation calls for it such as when he’s doing yardwork or when he’s out on the field. Off the clock, as he calls it, he cares a little too much about his overall appearance. Frequently washes his hands. Cleanliness does promote healthiness, but he loves looking attractive.

Hobbies: Football, working out, food, and drawing. He’s fixated on werewolves. His room at home and the interior of his school locker is full of his drawings. Claims to have seen The Howling 29 times.

Habits: Japanese is his first language and is spoken exclusively at the Sanada household unless they have visitors which isn't often. As a result, he often slips out of English if he gets flustered or angry. Beware of receiving any notes from him. The quality of his handwriting in English is slightly less than average which is why he does his notes in Japanese. He regularly applies mud mask cream to his face to maintain a clear face. Just don’t come over to his place when its one of those nights. You’ll probably want to laugh. Just keep it to yourself.

Problem: His parents view themselves as Japanese citizens living in the States temporarily. Shotaro sees himself as American. Fears the day that his parents will tell him that they are moving back to Japan. If made to go, he’ll be kicking and screaming all the way. It’s either that or find some way to stay in America. There are times that he doesn’t see eye to eye with his folks.

Drive: He has the skills and the athleticism to possibly play college ball and maybe go pro, but he desires neither. He would like to become a comic book artist because his craft is that good but would like to find a carrier that serves the community. Maybe as a firefighter or the Armed Forces? No matter what, he desires to remain in the country of his birth.

Public Image: If it’s high school football season, it’s hard not to see his name being mentioned. A couple times, he has even earned press in the Kanazawa Shimbun, the local newspaper of the city his parents came from. Classmates know of his artwork and Shotaro is seen often with a sketchpad and pencils.

Background: Twenty years ago, Kaito Sanada got the opportunity of a lifetime. He was offered a huge raise and perks to move to Allgood. Possibly Iwasaka related even though his father didn’t work for them directly or so he said. Kaito doesn't talk about what he does. In the Sanada household, it's best to keep quiet as long as the bills are being paid. All that Shotaro and his mother understand is that his work is highly important and confidential.

Shotaro felt like an outsider growing up because his primary language was Japanese and he had a name unfamiliar to his classmates so he began to identify himself as Shaun among his peers. He wanted to emulate his American classmates and those he saw in the media. To facilitate this, he began to work out at the gym when he got old enough and developed a splendid athletic physique. His crowning achievement in the field of assimilation was being a football player. Not soccer, but classic American football.

In his Freshman year, he tried out for running back. Whether by fate or misfortune of other prospective candidates or just natural ability, he performed admirably and he was chosen for the team. Trouble awaited him at home. It was not a pretty sight because his parents were disappointed in him. Sports they could understand, but football? Acceptance was as slow as molasses. For that first season, they didn’t attend even one game. He was crestfallen, but he resolved to continue playing.

The first definitive sign of approval was when he came back after school one day in his Sophomore year and found a treasured photo among all the other photos. It was of him in his football gear with jersey displaying number 23. Here is Shotaro kneeling on one knee. In the crook of his right arm is a football and nestled between his legs is his helmet facing left. There was still emptiness inside.

What he was missing and desired was teenage companionship. Girls might have enjoyed looking at him, but their gazes were not returned. The truth is that he was physically and emotionally attracted to other guys. No one knows this truth because has safeguarded it behind a shield of devotion to schoolwork and this ruse has satisfied both parents and classmates. Plus, his gazes have been inconspicuous. He does not act on his feelings because he is afraid of discovery. Which is greater? Fear or shame?

Important Friends/Family: Kaito Sanada (father) and Ayumi (mother)

Inter-character Relationships: TBD

    Name: Jade "Gladys" Canby

    Age: 18 (just turned!)

    Gender/Pronouns: Cis Female, She/Her

    Sexuality: Demisexual

    Grade: Senior

FC Description: Standing at 5'6 (167 cm), the first thing that people typically see of Jade is her kaleidoscopic-dyed hair, messy and drooped a little past shoulder level. She dyed it as a result of a dare with a group of friends, and she's taken an exponential liking to it. With a constant grin and wide, hazel-colored eyes, Jade maintains an easy-to-approach stance to everyone. Jade has a light skin tone, and small freckles dot her nose and cheeks. There are a few scars around her body, each originating from one of her wild parties, and each with a story she'd love to tell. Two upper teeth are missing, which she also lost at a party. Her hair literally shines against bright light, only making her stand out even more.

Clothing Style: A fur denim jacket (1) worn over atrociously designed shirts (1, 2).

  • Skyler Lucas Wiley

    Appearance
Skyler has dark wavy hair and cobalt-blue eyes. He has a straight, freckled nose and expressive, upturned eyes. His hair, unruly and often disheveled, curls around his ashy ivory cheeks and frames his gracile, angular face in a charming, leonine manner. He has a sharp smile that cuts clean across his face, upper lip often quirked to the left for a slyer, more mischievous expression of joy. He stands at around 5'9. He's a lean, rugged youth with a sociable, sarky countenance.
    Personality
Skyler is a bold, reckless, enigmatic youth with a quick temper and a spiteful disposition. He has been holding several grudges toward the town's inhabitants since the third grade. He is a hubristic, intemperate, impetuous individualist. He's been unleashing his unbounded rage upon Allgood since 1966. He is a sensitive, introspective, dependable inquisitive. He has never broken a promise. He leapt over a desk and broke Jimmy Stow's nose during sixth grade geography and has been the bane of all school staff and faculty ever since. He is very sociable while also being infamously hostile.

NAME:
Eugene H. Mattheson

AGE:
16

GENDER:
Male

SEXUALITY:
Heterosexual. He's really not interested in dating during high school though, despite what his damned traitorous teenaged hormones might say otherwise.

GRADE:
11th, Junior

FC/DESCRIPTION:
Standing at 5'7 with few muscles, Eugene's an unassuming, unthreatening kid. It's a safe bet that just about anyone could beat him in a fight, honestly. His hair is a perpetual mess, always stuck between bed hair and that blissful state of order. Eugene likes to keep his hair fluffy and long. Or, well, he doesn't like it, but he only bothers to get a haircut about once every two months. His dark brown hair usually reaches down to his collar bone when it's grown out for long enough. His bangs always fall over his green eyes as well, and it's such a hassle having to blow hair out of his eyes every 30 seconds. More often than not, he can be seen with a tired frown as he's slumped against his desk at school, desperately trying to fall asleep.

BODY MODS/SCARS:
None at all. He doesn't even know if there's a tattoo parlor in town.

CLOTHING STYLE:
Eugene throws on whatever's closest on his mad dash out the door every morning on a school day. T-shirts, jackets, coats, jeans, cargo pants, and boots are all his style. Again, he doesn't care what he puts on, so half the time he runs out of the house in a hoodie three sizes too big or in some dumb Chemistry pun T-shirt. The color schemes differ drastically too, from drab black and white to colorful like red and blue. When he actually has time to prepare, he goes with button-down shirts, fancy-looking suit jackets and coats, dress shoes, and slacks. He, a sixteen-year-old boy, unironically wears a button-down shirt and tie to Robotic meets. His favorite ties are the ones with cat patterns, but he'd much rather die than let anyone know that.

Two mainstays of every outfit he wears are his glasses, wristwatch, and messenger bag. Yes, he needs glasses, he has Astigmatism, laugh it up, haha, four eyes. He's heard it all before people.

HEALTH:
Eugene has Astigmatism, meaning he's both near and far-sighted. In simple terms, this means everything he sees without his glasses on is blurry and incomprehensible, no matter how close to his face it is. In even simpler terms, he's screwed without his glasses, no two ways about it. Also, he may or may not have a caffeine addiction.

PERSONALITY:
Eugene's a mess of contradictions. He's a hard worker, but also inherently lazy. He has a 4.0 GPA, but he sleeps through every class. He's a sarcastic ass when he wants to be, and a surprisingly sweet and caring guy when he needs to be. Eugene's ridiculously intelligent and driven in almost every subject he puts himself into, and the only reason he hasn't graduated high school already was because the school board refused to let him skip a grade or two, despite the fact that he already knows everything he'll be taught from Junior to Senior year. Because of this, Eugene has come to the realization that he doesn't even have to try in school anymore. He knows everything he needs to know already, he beat the system. Nowadays, he rarely put any of the drive he used to have into just about anything. He sleeps in class, shrugs off responsibility, and dodges anything he has to put effort into. Maybe he's just looking for something exciting to put his time into nowadays.

HOBBIES:
The majority of Eugene's hobbies are really just things he does solely because they'll look good on a college resume. Other than those, he has some hobbies like gaming, programming, tinkering, baking, and sewing. Nobody knows about the last two, and he'd like to keep it that way. He likes to run tests with Chemistry in his room as well, having gotten hooked on the subject ever since he got a home chemistry set in 1976. He's also very fond of magic tricks.

HABITS:
Adjusts his glasses, adjusts his watch, scratches his hair, regularly uses idioms, and carries around a dictionary at all times.

PROBLEM:
Will be developed in the RP with the permission of TragicTree

DRIVE:
Eugene's drive, at the moment, is pretty self-centered. He's bored, and he's looking for some excitement. He's tired of going through the same motions through school every day, he thinks he needs something new in his life. He's having a midlife crisis at sixteen, that's it. He needs an event to push him towards becoming a generally more driven person at anything he does.

PUBLIC IMAGE:
Eugene, since elementary school, has been everyone's first choice on who to pick on. This was partly because children are inherently cruel and evil creatures, and partly because Eugene was always just too mature to properly make friends with kids his age before high school. He never lets it get to him though, either firing back at any teasing with copious amounts of snark or silently planning a way to get back at the jackass who made a "Four-eyes" joke, because god knows he's never heard that one before, how original. In his Junior year of high school, he's stopped being the number one target to pick on and is now mainly known as that one kid who sleeps in the back of class all day but still consistently has flawless grades in every class.

BACKGROUND:
Eugene was born as the oldest child of his family in Hell's Kitchen, New York, on January 3rd, 1967. As a kid, Eugene couldn't find a moment of respite from his younger sisters. They'd cry all night, break his toys, and tug on his hair, and worst of all, he kept getting a new younger sister year after year. With five little sisters, life could only be described as hell on Earth. Mercifully, in 1972, Scott and Theresa Mattheson finally decided that six children were more than enough, and Eugene was all for their decision.

It was a year later, when Eugene's uncle returned from their stint in the airforce overseas in 1973, that his family moved out of New York. A combination of increased housing prices, the fact that Eugene's uncle, who was his only living extended family member, was moving out of the city, and the fact that job availability was dwindling encouraged the Mattheson family to pack their bags and move to Allgood, Utah.

Moving into the town, Eugene's dad snagged a job as an accountant and his mom was hired as an elementary school teacher. With both parents working half the day, their overly mature eight-year-old son was left to pick up the slack. In Eugene's ideal world, he never would have had to learn how to change a diaper before his ninth birthday, or preferably ever.

The mindset that his sisters were unbearable lasted until Eugene started middle school. They were annoying, they cried if he didn't do what they wanted, and his youngest sister was the most insufferably clingy five-year-old he'd ever had the displeasure of living with. When Eugene really started getting into academics, though, he learned to put up with his sisters more easily. Sure, Allison would eat his homework, Sydney would never leave him alone, and Hazel's go-to response when getting in trouble was "Eugene did it" until she was thirteen, but they weren't nearly as unbearable as he used to think they were.

It was also around Middle school that Eugene first started getting bullied. He spent every waking moment studying up on every subject that caught his eye, and that naturally ostracized him from his age group. To a pack of twelve-year-olds that was an exploitable weakness. To make things worse, his eyesight started deteriorating around that time, so he needed glasses. You would not BELIEVE how many four eyes jokes those middle schoolers came up with. Add to that the fact that he let his air grow out longer than his sisters did and Eugene was just the easiest guy to pick on. He didn't really care, frustrating as all of it was, but it was a little demoralizing.

When Eugene started high school, his uncle moved out of Allgood, headed for San Francisco. That had been a shame, the man had been a favorite of Eugene and his sisters. As a Freshman, Eugene joined the Chess Club, Robotics Club, and the Math Team. Two of the three were unbearably boring, but hell, Eugene would do just about anything to convince the school board he was fit to skip a grade. Evidently, it wasn't enough, because, despite his near-perfect GPA and club record, he still had to go through his Sophomore and Junior year. By his Junior year, he'd given up on the idea of skipping a grade and decided it was best if he just saved himself the effort. So, he quit the Chess Club and Math Team, sleeps through his classes, and only attends Robotics Club anymore for college credit.
